Rataji PBP |
Rataji will cast confusion on them. Luckily they all bunched up for him. He will be able to exclude Zurnzal and catch all of them. Let me know if I have to deal with spell resistance.
GM Lari |
Red: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 3 + 2 = 19
Blue: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 2 = 11
Green: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 6 + 2 = 20
Purple: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 6 + 2 = 13
Rataji recognizes that all of these are Foo creatures, exotic guardians from the Good Planes. Generally posing as statues, they gain increased armor and resistance to all but bludgeoning weapons. As outsiders, they have the common immunities to poison, disease, paralysis, and sleep, and stronger mental faculties.
A limited number of times per day, they can harden their skin into pure stone, reducing their movement but deflecting the worst of blows.
The two on the wall (red and blue) have taken the forms of giant chameleons. They have a climb speed, incredibly long reach with their tongues, which can grab enemies and pull them in, and a powerful bite attack.
The others are frilled lizards. They can flare their neck in a dramatic fashion, possibly intimidating their opponents. They have less ability to attack at a distance than the other reptiles, but can attack with both bite and tail.
You get the sense that the lizard that charged Zurnzal has shrugged off the spell, but the others have succumbed.
Rataji PBP |
Rataji had planned on casting Mage Armor from the scroll he bought when they entered sky reach. May I assume he cast it? We went from sneaking in to combat so quickly I never had a chance to mention it.
Ietsuna Shohiraj |
Shohiraj moves around to the right hand wall, to flank the red foo with Zurnzal tumbling to avoid strikes as she slips past. Drawing her sap she unleashes a strike at the red enemy.
Tumble to avoid AoO: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (2) + 15 = 17
Tumble to avoid AoO: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (18) + 15 = 33
Tumble to avoid AoO: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 29
Sap to hit: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
Sap damage with Sneak Attack: 1d6 + 6 + 4d6 ⇒ (3) + 6 + (4, 1, 2, 4) = 20
Rataji PBP |
I think there may be some penalties based on the size and number of enemies you try to sneak by. Not sure though. But if you succeed I think you have a crit confirm roll.
3-2-2 |
Also remember confused creatures won't take AoOs :)
322's eyes turn black as she shakes off her surprise and breathes deeply. Her eyes lock onto the closest lizard as she fixes it in her mind. That mental image begins overlapping with a flurry of other thoughts - black, screams, whispers in the night, cold, so cold, the growing dreams.
With a final yell, 322 whips her head back as a dark freezing vaccuum erupts around the green lizard.
Using my Interstellar Void ability to deal 7d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 5, 6, 4, 1, 2) = 28 cold damage to the lead, unconfused lizard. DC 17 Fort for half.
GM Lari |
Green Fort: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17
The icy void envelops the lead lizard, but the horrible things from between the stars only take slight interest in the celestial lizard.
Shohiraj Confirm: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14 Not a crit, unfortunately.
Shohiraj meanwhile pummels the chameleon, severely battering it.
Green: 14, Red: 20
Standard Pregen |
Marnarius quickly draws his bow, studies the lead lizard, and starts taking pot-shots at Green.
MW Composite Longbow: 1d20 + 10 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 10 + 2 + 1 = 16, for 1d8 + 5 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 5 + 2 + 1 = 13 damage.

Zurnzal throws a pair of punches at the chameleon between he and Shohiraj

GM Lari |
With the second punch, the chameleon falls off the wall, unconscious.
Purple Confusion: 1d100 ⇒ 81 Attack Nearest
The rear lizard attacks his counterpart, lashing out with tooth and tail. The tail bounces off the stony hide, but it manages to sink its teeth deep into its twin's neck.
Bite Flank: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 10 + 2 = 32

The remaining chameleon takes a bite out of its own tail.
Blue Confusion: 1d100 ⇒ 58 Attack Self

The wounded, unconfused lizard attacks Zurnzal, connecting with his tail.

"What are these things?"
Marnarius continues to fire at the unconfused lizard.

Zurnzal turns to the lizard next to him (green) and throws another double punch

Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
I guess getting them to eat themselves is... weird... but, uh, a way to do it.
Ietsuna Shohiraj |
Believing that Zurnzal has the Green enemy under control Shohiraj will approach the purple enemy and swings her sap.
Sap to hit: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
Sap damage (non lethal): 1d6 + 6 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 6 + 8 = 19
Aspis Agent |
Joliryn moves undetected under the last chameleon while willing her scimitar to take on a keen, shocking edge. She casts shocking grasp and attacks the beast.

Shock damage: 6d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 6, 5, 5, 2) = 25
Rataji PBP |
"What are these things?"
"Foos. Pathfinder pets from another plane."
With that, Rataji steps to the side and sends a screaming bolt of lightning down the now cleared lane plastering green and purple.
lightning bolt: 7d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 2, 4, 3, 2, 6) = 28 Reflex save of 18 for half damage
"322, please heal Zurnzal before he goes down."
3-2-2 |
"Yes, of course." 322 says as she casts a cure serious wounds spell and makes her way towards the brawler. "Thank you for firing that before I assist him." And cancel that thanks for speaking THAT aloud. Of course, he's the leader. The Professor would have given him my information. But now I am that to them too. A number.
Keeping up a thin smile until she passes that wizard - at which point her expression drops considerably, the elf touches her compatriot. Dark purple tentacles erupt from the edges of each of the half-orc's cuts and scrapes, reaching out towards each other as they knit the space between closed. A faint stench of decay fills the air.
Zurnzal heals 3d8 + 7 ⇒ (8, 3, 2) + 7 = 20

A series of blows rains upon the lead lizard, before Rataji's lightning effectively fries it.
The lizard Shohiraj attacked retaliates, chomping down on her arm.
Purple Bite: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27

The party may act.
Rataji PBP |
"Almost done, team. We're making short work of these things."
The last word, 'things', rises to a creshendo as rataji transforms the sound into an Ear Piercing Scream directed at purple.
damage: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 2) = 7, A successful DC 16 Fort save negates the daze effect and halves the damage.
Icky damage. Well these things have been rolling average on STs so perhaps I'll manage to daze it. Besides, I'm not going to get anything meaningful damage wise with a 3d6 attack anyway.
Standard Pregen |
"Yeah, that doesn't really clear it up for me... Still, they seem to die readily enough."
Marnarius steps to the side, marks the purple lizard, and starts shooting.
MW Composite Longbow: 1d20 + 10 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 10 + 2 + 1 = 29, for 1d8 + 5 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 5 + 2 + 1 = 9 damage.

Additional Slashing damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Additional Shock damage: 5d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 3, 3, 4) = 17
Joliryn slashes wildly at her opponent
Rataji PBP |
"Yeah, that doesn't really clear it up for me... Still, they seem to die readily enough."
"Unfortunately my energies have been channeled towards learning about more useful creatures that these annoying pittances. I do know a little bit."
"They can harden their skin, as you just saw, turning a blade stroke. The chameleon like ones can climb, as you also already saw. They can whip out there tongues and tails as you already saw. So there is not much I can add. Oh, the frilly ones can look really scary too and frighten those with weaker minds than us. Still waiting for one to try that."
Aspis Agent |
No thanks, saving my spells. I also think it would be unfair to cast when i know it will crit. Shock damage is only 6 then (first d6 from shocking from eldritch point). Damage: 23: Slashing 13, Fire 4 and Shock 6
If it is still standing I will spend an EP to enter mystic focus and gain blur for 2 rounds as a swift action
The_Ambitious |
Zurnzal takes a short step forward to assist Joliryn in taking down the beast in the corner

Rataji, Marnarius, and Shohiraj all chip away at the frilled lizard, though it remains in the fight. Joliryn jabs a sensitive area, knocking the remaining chameleon off the wall, unconscious.
322 may act. Zurnzal, if you'd like to do something different that's fine, but if I don't see anything before I update next I'll just direct your first attack on Purple instead.
3-2-2 |
322 holds out her hand as a sickly green ray fires out towards the remaining creature, before moving around towards the injured Shohiraj.
Ray of Sickening: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 7 - 4 = 7 vs touch AC
If hit, it needs a Fort 15 save of is sickened for the rest of its life (presuming said life is short).
Also, while thanks to Rataji's multilingual tongue I hope it doesn't matter in this case, my reply and comprehension would only have been in Aklo or Auran (my first oracle, Tongues is a curse that can be overlooked ;p)
Rataji PBP |
I believe the lizard is still under the effects of confusion. Did you by any chance make the confusion roll?
Rataji PBP |
Not a spell I've dealt with before. Good thing you read the description better than me.
Aspis Agent |
Joliryn casts shocking grasp. She then moves around the benches and slashes at the last guardian.

Rataji will delay a casting of magic missile to just before it attacks one of the team. If it does not make it to that point, then the spell will be saved.

After about five minutes of ransacking the room, you find several items of note, though most of the contents are of greater historical value than practical.
Notes from Aram Zey detail a ritual that could open up a permanent portal between a fixed location on the demiplane and the Material plane. He strongly advises against performing such a procedure.
Marnarius finds three weapons, one of which calls out to him more than the others. The first is an obsidian-bladed scythe with a mahogany handle. The second is a heavy flail made of magically hardened gold and whose head is molded like a roaring tiger skull. The third is a serrated, single- edged longsword made of green-tinged metal.
It's entirely up to you which one you choose.
You also find a magical staff.
I'll give you a quick chance to recover and react to this before heading after the Tapestry. Please roll another Stealth or Disguise check to navigate the halls unnoticed.
Rataji PBP |
"That was some fighting everyone. I'm proud to call you my team."
What can you tell me about the staff? Should I make a spellcraft check? It goes without saying that he will cast detect magic and try to identify anything with an aura, including the weapons we found.
Assuming it has not been 70 minutes since we entered, Rataji is still under the influence of the Alter Self spell.
Disguise: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32
Once the party sets off (or if they have a destination that is more than 10 minutes away, when they get withing 1 minute of the destination) Rataji will say...
"I need to cast a spell on our heavy hitters. Zurnzal and Marnarius come here for a second."
Rataji will cast heroism on both of them, using his arcane bond for the second casting. Remember to add the +2 on your disguise or stealth rolls.
A bit of a risk there, but heroism is way cool and too good a bonus to pass up. And it lasts 70 minutes so I'm hoping we get good use out of it.
3-2-2 |
322 stands over the remains of one of the foo lizards. These creatures, they CHOOSE to be bound into service. And they find that honorable. This was a release.
Looking around, she looks around at the injuries marring Shohiraj, Zurnzal, and Joliryn. "There should not have been fighting in here. Not yet at least. Come here and let me mend those." The elf pulls out a thin wand from her belt. [b]"Don't worry. This will be less, upsetting than before.
Cure Mod charges, get your Cure Mod charges here. I've got 10, so let me know if you need one or two. I'm looking at you Punchy (Zurnzal).
Also remembering to put the scroll of breath of life into the spring-loaded wrist sheath.
Rataji PBP |
Speaking of which, before you use the CMW charge, Rataji uses one of his scrolls of infernal healing on Zurznal. Much better to use those out of combat.
