Simon,
Sorry to see you go, and especially sorry to hear about your loss. Thanks for your interest and enthusiasm, and I hope for the chance to play with you some time in the future.

Very said to see Simon go. I know you put in a ton of work there Simon.Hope things do improve for you sir.

On a related note. Reckless can we get an updated note on player listing on who is still in the campaign and what classes?

Any want to team up?

I could always use more connections to the city.

Also, I do hope Simon can take a few moments when the game is in full swing to see how his friends have developed thanks to his keen interest in the beginning. He had some great ideas.

Was looking forward to playing with you Simon, but I hope things get better for you. Life comes first, and good luck with your other games, pal!

Also, I'm going to have to dig through everyone else's backgrounds tomorrow and offer up some ideas, but Beyla here could definitely use some more connections to everyone if anyone has some thoughts.

Well as for Beyla, A Paladin and brawler. I definitely see her trying to reform Saladar. Seeing him work as a brawler like her but uninterested in pursuing the higher path while being talented and visiting the same training halls as her. Much can be said about the 2 opposite sides of a similar coin. To the point that her and Saladar Train together in competitive sparring. I could also see Artix being a friend of Beyla's as she comes to watch the sparring providing healing between the 2 brawlers while debating theology with the Paladin.

Would have posted here sooner, but I've been sick the past two days, and sleeping constantly.

Sorry to see you go Simon, and about the loss of your dog. Losing a beloved pet is never easy.

Since the hard close deadline is coming up, I'm working on my character's equipment as we speak. I will also agree that the "Lions of Lantern Street" is a great idea for a party name.

Regarding text/voice, I'm fine with either. I find RP easier in text, but waiting for everyone to type tends to slow sessions down considerably, which is a problem with a large party.

Also, Sorin was the character I had a connection with, so now that he's out I suppose I need a new one. Would anyone else like to link up backstories? I figure Benny tends to accept odd jobs around town to help pay his expenses at the Academy since he's from a poor background, so he could have met anyone around the town.

Updated sheet.

Well, Roahk also attends the academy, even if the course he is taking isn't the right one he needs to work on his goals.

As for anyone else, Roahk is a connection to the outside, providing any number of services such as pelt collection, outdoors guidance, and herb acquisition.

He's not a Cauldron native, so he's most likely seen at the local taverns. He also has connections to Skies Treasury, so that could be another way others could know him.

Pavel isn't a native really to Cauldron. He is currently working for the Aslaxin house. I'm feeling very much the outsider for Pavel as it seems he is sort of the only one not native.

NenkotaMoon Artix Pavel half-elf cavalier-cleric
Overlord_laharl Ben Rice human rogue -wizard
Pokeapache Beyla Rodric human brawler-paladin
Bob Reilly Saladar Bach human brawler-rogue
Lokiel Roahk half-orc gunslinger-ranger

If anyone using Hero Lab for their characters can send me their .por file at strattonel at yahoo dot com, I can run it through the HL to FG converter, which will start your character sheet somewhere around 90%+ complete.

Benny and Roahk have the same alignment, both were bullied as part of their background, and now they are at the same academy, so it would make sense if they were friends.

I guess I'll be the lovable new guy to the group.

Nothing wrong with being the new guy to the group. You get to offer outside perspective to lands outside the cauldron and get to embrace a camaraderie not forced by obligation.

Sounds good to me, Bob! I'd imagine that Beyla and Saladar have known each other for a while, considering that Beyla likely grew up in close proximity to the local street gangs. Should be good fun.

The same goes for Benny, as well! Considering Benny's only 3 years older than Beyla, I'm sure in her youth she might have been curious about his street games even if she couldn't afford to play back then.

Lastly... I noticed that Roahk juuuust so happened to roll a few significant relationships (same as Beyla), and it might be interesting for them to have met at a local tavern and dated for a while, but it didn't work out-- but they ended on good terms (maybe simply because Beyla's a bit of a workaholic :') ) and are now friends?

Artix will fit right in I'm sure, and it's gonna be good. I look forward to Beyla meeting him!

Beyla, that sounds very amusing. I'd be more than happy for Roahk to have had relations with Beyla for a time. He's just so charming, but not the sort you bring to your parents XD.

Or should I be the angsty one.... wait we all are probably that. The cute one, maybe the fat one, I don't know. Lol

Well Saladar did roll for having a issues of competing over relationships in the party. I could maybe see Beyla and Saladar having some sort of competitive relationship as I had also rolled relationships with fellow past adventurers. Whether that is a current thing or not, I could definitely see it illustrated in sparring and other interactions. Definitely played off as a sort of Gimli/legolas mechanic with romantic undertones.

Awesome, Roahk :D

Oohh that sounds great Bob! I love a good competitive rivalry. Should be good fun.

Also, Artix is a half-elf, that automatically makes him the cute one. ;P

As an outsider, Artix could have ties with Roahk from his days of roaming, or perhaps with Beyla Rodric by way of Alek Tercival, a slightly older paladin of St Cuthbert (and probable mentor of Beyla) who is known to occasionally travel for the church in performance of his mission of law and order. Although St Cuthbert is a pretty cut and dry law=order sort of god, his paladins tend to look to mercy and justice within the law, and that would probably appeal to a cleric of Pelor.

Also, since Kristoff Jurgensoen's superiors have all recently died leaving him alone at the shrine of Pelor, he might have reached out to you for help running the shrine.

Literally back of my head with Kristoff. Time for some PMs.

I am loving this amount of investment in the campaign. Backstory meshing, bouncing ideas, etc. Got some great opportunity here and I am looking forward to getting this started this month.

I have currently an improved and my refined backstory. Working with Beyla to establish connection. Will have an RP sample, appearance, and personality up soon.

Session #3 in less than three hours... the heroes descend into the malachite hold to find the missing children and maybe some other citizens who may also remain held by the slaver Kazmojen.

seem to be having problem with teamspeak but Fantasy Grounds is up

Man a whole 2 weeks. at least we can maybe find a healer to replace grimvol for some full on super healz. That level 2 though... am I right? :P A lot of close calls and I think Saladar has now learned his direct tactics in the streets of the Cauldron are not going to fly in these trap infested corridors.

our new PC will be joining in the gameplay thread. Hopefully a few people can work in some introductory RP with him.

Sorry for my long absence. My computer is dead and so I will not be able to play. Thank you for giving me the opportunity and good luck to all.

Hey guys,

A couple of people have written to say they can't make it today. That combined with it being my wife's birthday today and still waiting on our second recruit means we'll be postponing re-start until next week.

Meanwhile, over in the Gameplay thread, our first new recruit has made a starting post. Maybe we can do a bit of RP today and/or over the week to keep things rolling.

Indeed I have! Left it somewhat open-ended so folks could respond without too much trouble. Also, I'm going through the online Player's Guide for Shackled City, because I noticed a LOT of grammatical errors and just instances of some bad syntax. As someone who considers themselves an amateur writer and a stickler for grammar and spelling (and having OCD) I'm going through it and making corrections to make it flow better and sound better when read.

Look forward to having you come along on our adventure Jordas
