As the wasps sting him to death the man screams "NOT THE BEES!"

As ye enter the new section of corridor you can see the doors the man opened. Three matched doors stand on the corridor’s east side. Each is carved with the images of lordly feasts, although a hooded gray figure appears in each image, silently watching.

DC 20 Knowledge (religion):

You recognize the image as the god Norgorber in his aspect as the Gray Master.

Through the doors you can see this mess hall’s north and south walls are fitted with shelves containing mismatched goblets, platters, and bowls. A number are made of fine porcelain emblazoned with crests of noble families. A raised table with three lavish chairs stands at the east end.

Seeing the ally killed by wasps in a panicked state two of the figures move. One opening a door beside him and moving away. Another opens another door into the corridor and rushes across it both shouting and trying to raise the alarm. The last two try to buy time moving back behind the table at the head of the room, one turns it over for cover while the other shoots at Eluvias.

Some scholars believe that gibbering mouthers are a lesser variant of the much more dangerous shoggoth, while others theorize they are a punishment by some powerful being or deity inflicted on those who have offended it.

As soon as Amadeen gets a good look at the *thing*, she glares at it, and says:

"I don't know what it is. I just know that it's going to die very soon!"

She finishes with breaking into her trademark cackling.

Evil eye (-2 AC) on thingie. Mind-affecting will save dc 19 to determine duration. With that and cackle, either 2 or 7 round duration. Or 0 if it's immune to mind-affecting.

...and once more Eluvias was correct.

This chamber is someone’s personal quarters. A comfortable bed stands in the southwest corner. Several small keepsakes, including a couple of small leather journals, clutter the wall shelves.

The keepsakes on the shelves include a gold chess piece worth 25 gp, an ivory comb worth 40 gp, and a statuette of a woman with a lyre worth 15 gp.

"Next room on the left after this. I still wonder what the heck that thing was, besides a pincushion."

Aside from Norgorbor the name Tarin Dars comes up frequently but ut will take more time to properly get an estimation of the journals content. Tarin seems to be this persons superior and held in respect by the writer.

”Indeed it is. We can not afford to allow such cults to take root in your lands. If he is near, we should remove his head from his shoulders and leave it on a spike as a warning to others. Speaking of which, I do believe that we should begin the process. At this rate, in a few years, we could have an impressive collection. There could be signs to go with each head, so that all may know who crossed us and what their fate was.”

The double bunks and footlockers in the alcoves of this room suggest it serves as a barracks. The walls are decorated with simple paintings and murals which include sketches of building, temple and ruin layouts with notations suggesting how to get past obstacles and traps. Two small privy chambers stand against the southern wall, and doors exit to the southeast and northwest.

Three figures, equipped like those previously seen, stand ready with their crossbows using an upturned table as cover.
