Can Bronwyn use her other Shield against the Flame Strike? If so, she'll use that as her reaction

I think Bronwyn can drop a fireball among ourselves to get as many low level baddies as possible to give them a bit of breathing room. The problem is is that she can only save 4 of us and there are 5 so she'll drop the fireball in a way that Squeak can be omitted because it won't reach him. Sadly I think it'll only get 2 thugs and one of the undead but it's better than nothing. Of course, she could catch more if they're moving to attack them.

Bronwyn shuddered. It was like fighting the dragon mummy all over again but this time she wasn't sure how long she would be able to last. She wanted to send more fire at the priestess but her greater threat were the expendables sent to attack them. Conjuring another fireball, the wizard dropped in among them all making sure to protect those important to her while watching the others burn.

@Bronwyn By the time you cast Dusk won’t be in the target zone of your spell so fireball wherever you like ;p

Dusk threw a smiling glance over her shoulder at Vi as she concentrated on keeping the shield up

”I think we’ve all got a touch of...”

Her response was cut off as fire rained from the sky, scorching and burning the group as the lead woman made her demands.

Dusk met her gaze, and her eyes narrowed.

”Not F’ing likely... ”

Dusk took two steps towards the woman and vanished, reappearing further up the path and charging at her from the side.

Her blade cut in a diagonal upwards line from hip to shoulder, then across again at neck height.

OOC:

@Squeak: yes, that will work. Squeak is at 'critical wounds'; you may act.

@Bronwyn: you already used both of your shields already, in any case, ti would not help with the flame strike (cleric's version of fireball)

@Palisade: I feel your frustration but they are not instant kills. Palisade was hit by the karrnathi, by the thug, and by the flame strike, albeit all in the same round. I keep forgetting about your 'blessing', can we assume that you always put that on your armor? If that's the case, then Palisade is at 'critical wounds'; you may act.

Yup, it's always on armor, I did state it pretty early on but who can remember every post forever? It is counted as part of Palisade's static AC values, that's the best I can do ;^)

Anyway... I doubt I have time to write a post before tomorrow my time, so if you are in a hurry assume Palisade's spiritual weapon will keep at the priestess and it'll smack the undead next to it - Palisade is too close to going down to bother with buffs that get disabled if it's hit once more, and healing itself with its own spells is futile, since it only gets half the effect - might carry it over one additional hit, or it might not even do that much.

Rivulets of molten metal from its magically scorched armor ran down Palisade's body plating, hardening quickly as the pillar of fire vanished as quickly as it had appeared. Its shield and armor took blows, almost bringing it to its knees. Almost. For at least for the moment, it still stood and fought. While its summoned weapon continued to pester the formidable enemy spellcaster, the 'forged nudged Vi's body with its foot, invoking the Creator-Goddess for a blessing of healing.

Vi collapsed under the onslaught of fire, but moments later found herself roused to consciousness, filled with the familiar grace of the Creator Goddess. Mumbling a prayer of gratitude to Her, Mei'Vi pulled herself to her feet, drawing her sword and preparing to defend herself from the attackers surrounding them. Dusk vanished from her side, and Vi caught a glimpse of her battling the priestess - hopefully she would succeed where Vi had failed.

The presence of the Karrnathi undead still challenging it prevented it from doing anything about the matter immediately, but while its shield and mace were busy deflecting attacks it repeated its previous performance by touching Bronwyn's leg with its own armored foot and used the physical connection to channel a burst of positive energy into the sorceress' body.

She looked around and was glad to see everyone else on their feet although they all looked fairly unsteady. She was just about to speak when Fendir's blade struck down one of the thugs. She watched silently as the remaining thug was dealt with, more out of shock than anything.

After a few minutes, the wizard shook her head sadly, "All this for something we don't even have. Why would they think we have something called the Dragon's Eye? I mean yes, the world is better off with fewer Emerald Claw wackadoos kicking around but we barely survived ourselves." She thought back to her lessons at the Twelve and what she'd learned about history to see if she could place the reference.

No, you're right. Taking short rests allows you to use your healing hit points. It's only a matter whether you can (maximum of 2 short rest per day) and are willing to take a short rest (story driven).

"So where'd you fancy then? Nice beach with sand in your armor? Somewhere up market to spend your new coins on and shop till you drop? A little cottage in a forest clearing, all remote and undisturbed like?"

Vi added her own questions to Bronwyn's. "Who exactly hired you? How much were you paid? Did you get paid in advance? Were you hired individually, or where some of you already part of a crew?"

Mei'Vi shuddered dramatically. "No sand, please! I've had enough sand for a lifetime. And while a quiet cottage might be nice for a day or two, I'm a city girl at heart. Back to Sharn for me. A suite at the Grey Dragon; their girls there give the most amazing massage. Dinner at Sannid's, chef's choice, and keep the wine coming. Maybe some cards or dice to round the evening off, or a show. Then sleep in those pillowy soft beds for at least 24 hours." She sighed, imagining the luxuries she could now afford. Imagining Dusk under a silk in the bed beside her, being massaged and pampered together.

Smiling, she said, "What about you? Where do you call home? How do you want to unwind after this debacle?"

Healing dice please!!

Some more time to post; I intend to recap tomorrow morning...

Dusk met Vi's gaze and she laughed

"Yes, this heat is one thing, but sand entirely another. Thank goodness for cantrips is all I'll say there!"

She listened and smiled, nodding as the Changeling listed off her favored destinations and activities.

"That does all sound rather compelling, I like your enthusiasm for luxury treats, you have good taste."

She closed her eyes for a moment, genuinely thoughtful

"My home... has been Sharn too, at least for the last few years. I too have a proclivity for the finer things as you've suggested, but I fear I have concentrated on work and not made many acquaintances in my time in the city. Such is the lot of a bounty hunter, comes with the territory."

She tapped one fingernail on her pauldron, it's icon still showing the partial mark currently hidden by her armor.

"There is still the mystery of these, questions to be asked in the dark and the quiet, lest we draw too much attention to ourselves. But if we simply plough on without some respite, it will do more harm than good."

The tilted her head to the side and glanced up.

"So sensible work can wait, I'd love to unwind with you! First, I will take you to Bisclavret's. He is a shifter tailor... yes yes once you've finished laughing... he has a knack for colour and style that is uncanny, it borders on the supernatural."

She lay a finger on one thigh of Vi's burned and sliced leather trousers and traced a line down towards her knee.

"You can step out of these and we'll find you something rakish and full of panache, yet that can be quiet and blend in when needed. Beautiful and deadly, to match its wearer."

She stared in to Mei'Vi's eyes.

"Then I'll take you up on your promises... Massage. Dinner. Wine. Some games..."

With the prisoners secured and immediate medical crisis averted, Palisade busied itself dragging the fallen enemies to one spot by the road, out of the way but handily all close together, then began going through their gear and possessions for anything that might be useful or could be used to verify or challenge the prisoners' answers.

OOC: The level up info I reviewed (everyone except Squeak) is good with the following comments/questions:

@Fendir: you're supposed to have STR>13 to multiclass as a barbarian but seeing as you are a 'DEX' barbarian, we'll let it go. :)

@Palisade: why +11 hp? Should it not be +8?

@Dusk: I'm not crazy about keeping track of something else but it's thematic enough and will prompt pretty decent roleplaying so let's keep it. Please add the stats to your PC sheet for easy reference.

Everyone, please update your PC sheets with the new info.

Action 3:

When the group returned to town, Fendir was at a loss as to what to do, and his being scarred by something beyond his control did not help his mood either. Unsure of what to do, he simply followed along behind the others, onto a boat.

Setting down his sack of coins in an out of the way space, he chose to simply stare out at the water, trying to think of where to go next; thinking, however, did not come easily for him.
