Zimu, you got nothing.

Jax says, "I... think I've seen a picture of something like that purple blob. In a book." He frowns. "The one in the book looked bigger, but... if memory serves, it can creep around slowly to find food. And it's dangerous." Jax is smiling his usual insouciant smile, but his tail flicks nervously. "Quite dangerous."

Of course, it nests in it's prey. Quite useful for a slow creature.
Let's keep moving before it decides we are its next meal.

The Judge looks at the strange purple mass and the beautiful mace nearby, but does not touch it or venture off the path as he follows the rest of the group.

Onward.

Dangerous. Thinks the goblin to himself. But also, incredibly tasty if sliced thin and fried.

Okay, last call for doing anything with mace, skeleton or fungus. Otherwise, I'll assume you just sidle nervously past as stealthily as you can.

I hope the rest of you do not hate me for this.

The Judge moves to about 25' past the skeleton, and then pauses. Turning his head, he casts Detect Magic and focuses back on the skeleton.

If the mace radiates magic, he moves slightly farther away and casts Mage Hand, while attempting to carefully lift the mace and move it toward the path and then closer to himself.

If the mace does not radiate magic, he will leave it where it is and continue to follow the others.

Jax, for once, is not tempted by anything in this area. He's a gambler but gambling with creepy evil fungoid things is just beneath him. He'll continue to move forward, not being distracted by anything.

Onward and forward. We shouldn't dally with the time we have left. Unless you all want to find out what happens to failures.

If Judge gets the mace.:
Edmin growls and shakes his head as the Judge magicaly moves the weapon to himself. "Your no better than the goblin. Lead by example man!"

Alas! The mace does not radiate magic. It is not, in fact, magical. It's just a masterwork cold iron light mace with a 1,000 gp gem in the handle.

Okay, onwards.

And the winding path eventually comes to an end. You exit the fungus room into a corridor. The mycelial web no longer stretches above you.

The corridor is 10' wide and 30' long. It ends in a door with writing on it.

Having seen Bref's tendency react in unexpected ways, the Judge sends Morsum forward to read the writing on the door. Morsum speaks infernal and can relay the message to the Judge.

There is a large numeral on this door: IX. Below it is written:

Many come to Him through suffering. He does not grant them healing, nor peace, nor the ease of pain. For He is never kind.

He is never kind. But He is always just. Sp to those who have suffered but served him well, he grants what is better than healing or peace or pain-ease.

Below this inscription, a small hook protrudes from the door. On the hook hangs a key. Below the key is written in smaller print:

The key to the door beyond.

Male Vampire(former Dhampir) Bard(Negotiator) 13/Anti-Paladin/2 - [HP 209/231; AC43,FF36,T22; CMD32; DR/10 magic+silver; F+28,R+29,W+26; Per+31; Init +12]

The Judge speaks softly to himself: He grants them power.

He then looks to the others.

Nine. . . The ninth door? The ninth know? The number of enemies we must face?

The Judge then looks down at the key.

The key to the door beyond.

Is he speaking of this key? Or is it the hook and key that are the key?

With this, the Judge looks to the other members of the party for any insight or thoughts.

With all the OOC chit chat, I completely forgot about the stealth part. The Judge would have used stealth, and I assume that Edmin would have as well.

Everyone else should roll as well for the teamwork stealth feat.

The door opens smoothly and silently.

You're in a 20 x 20 foot room... or, more accurately, a cell. There are chains on the walls. The only furnishings are a low bench and a chamber pot. There are dark stains on the floor, and a damp smell of old blood, rusty metal, urine, pain, and fear. Clearly, this place has seen use. (It's a bit reminiscent of dear old Branderscar Prison, actually.)

There is one other exit: a door in the opposite wall. The door has an opening in it, which is blocked by a grille of bars. It also has a small slot in the bottom, presumably for passing food through.

A tall, broad-shouldered man stands at the other door. He is wearing armor and a long blue cloak, but his head is bare. His back is to you. He seems to be doing something with the grille -- or trying to; as you slip in, you hear him grunt with frustration. A faint scraping sound ends with a clatter as some small object drops out of his hand and falls to the floor.

A few feet away from the man, a beautiful winged helmet sits on the bench. It is clearly the work of a master craftsman, and looks to have been recently polished; even in the dim light, it shines.

A bit of cloth rage lies beside the helmet. Nearby on the bench is a tray with a dish, a cup, and a crust of bread.

Anyone want to ask Jax to reconsider, or are we all good with "attack immediately" as a group strategy? (If he really wants to, of course he can. But since that kinda commits the rest of the party, just checking with the rest of you first.)
