The Wolf has quietly slipped behind Raisa. Fixated on the Judge, she does not notice. Now he takes something and drops it over her head from behind. It is the huge, heavy iron holy symbol of Asmodeus that she was wearing before.
Raisa gives a strangled shriek and falls to the ground as if struck.
Dren of the Dark Tapestry |
Raisa takes a shuffling step forward. "You... you're not one of.. us." Her voice has gone low and bubbly, as if her lungs are partly full of fluid.
What do you mean dear? wondering who she is directing this statement too.
Judge Tohram Quasangi |
The Judge once more smiles, and that is not a pretty thing:
That all depends on your definition of "us". If you mean long for the living, then this may be true. My body is weakening every day. However, am I long for the service of the Dark Lord. Yes, very very long. I plan on watching your great-great-great-great grandchildren be born, serve the First, and then die.

I remember that.

Ah Tohram, we may all become more than we are today...I am myself on a journey like you...to become more than I am now.
At the wolf, Was she losing control of herself? It can happen.
Douglas Muir 406 |
"OWWWWWWWWWWW!!! OW OW OW! Ooh! Wow! Ouch!" Raisa twitches and thrashes for several moments, then gradually seems to regain control of herself. "Oh! Ow!" She shakes her head. "It's... it's like a... like a charley horse! All over!"
She looks up at you. The extra eyes have closed and are shrinking and fading. Over just a few seconds, they disappear. Her hair has flattened and gone back to its normal mousy brown. She seems smaller and her arms are back to being the same length again, or nearly.
She sits up. "Wooo... thanks, Wolf!"
"Lady Raisa." The Wolf's voice is low and concerned. "Are you... yourself?"
Raisa bounces to her feet. "Oh, I'm always myself Wolf! It's just a question of what 'myself' is! Ha ha!" She seems a little pale, but otherwise fine. "Like I said... it's a rush! Woo!" She shakes her head, then stretches. "I'm still hungry, though!"
"I have some rations. Dried fruit, meat, nuts...?"
"Sure! That sounds great!" (Does Raisa glance sidelong at the Judge for just a moment? Is there just a hint of hungry regret in her eyes? Surely not.) "I love nuts! Hey, do you think we can teach New Enver to cook?"
Douglas Muir 406 |
@ Raisa, My dear, has anyone told you you are MOST beautiful? I have a little of your ability...but yours is quite exotic. he says to her once she returns to the group.
Dren shows her by changing into a Bugbear...
"Hey! You're funny!" Raisa gobbles a handful of nuts from the Wolf's supply. "Oh hey! What happened to... Zen? The cute one. With the hat?"
Cуровую зиму |
The Judge looks over at Raisa:
He lost his hat - and his head with it.
Chivalry and Tact. Skill sets that we may want to work on.
I thought Jax and Irin were hot and sexy and dirty, and Xen and Raisa were cute and sweet and macabre.
Aw so sad about Xen.
Jax Naismith |
Jax will find a scrap of cloth from the Commander's wardrobe and keep Cimu from biting her tongue. "Seriously? A seizure? Bloody brilliant." He'll then do his best to wake her up. If she has the silver raven that delivered the message earlier on her, he'll activate that and send it to Judge to say simply: Cymu's having seizures. We are in the Commander's bedroom. Send the creepy one."
Dren of the Dark Tapestry |
Xen is dead...his corpse is still warm which means she is fair game.
Dren chuckles, Heh, I am sure that Zombie Xen wouldn't be nearly as interesting Raisa.
So the staff has the ability to create undead? I am guessing it is a staff of the Necromantic energies?
What is next Edmin? Where are Jax and Cy by the way, I haven't seen them in some time...
Douglas Muir 406 |
If you leave the roof, you may pass Enver shuffling slowly up the stairs. He's withered as if he's been dead for many years. His flesh has shriveled and blackened, and his eyesockets are empty except for two little shadows that dance like black flames. As you pass him, you feel a chill coming off him -- not physical cold, but spiritual negation. He turns slowly to look at you, tendons creaking in his undead neck, dry flesh pulled back from his gums to reveal long yellow teeth.
He smells foul, and you can feel that this repulsive shell is animated by a hateful spirit, utterly incapable of love or warmth, that wants nothing more than to kill you horribly. So, not actually all that much difference from before.
Judge Tohram Quasangi |
The Judge moves over to Dren.
We might want to check on the witch. Seems she has gotten herself in some more trouble. I believe she and Jax are in the Commander's rooms.
Dren of the Dark Tapestry |
Yes...I was thinking they would eventually find trouble eventually, I suppose we should go. You know this is cutting into my entertainment time!
By the time we get to the town all of the fun will be gone.
Judge Tohram Quasangi |
The Judge looks back at Dren:
I am sure there will still be a full bar available. Most of these . . . creatures . . . don't seek out the finer tasting parts of society. They just smash and destroy. When we get there, we will assuredly find some fine morsels waiting to satisfy our needs.
As he finishes, the Judge wipes a bit of red from next to his mouth. You are not sure where he got it, but it is readily apparent what it is.
Jax Naismith |
Jax will shake Cymu awake while he waits for the Judge and Dren. If nothing seems to help her, he'll just hang out by the door and wait.
Cymu's really lucky Jax isn't more evil..
Dren of the Dark Tapestry |
That would be one less share to divide amongst the group.
Of course by doing that you might invoke your loss of life and therefore reduce the shares by one more...so please go ahead.
Edmin Al'Roth |
Edmin looks out over the town as he takes a moments rest by leaning on his axe. "We are done here. All that is left is slaughter."
The champion turns to the Judge and Dren and nods his head. "Find out what happened to the witch. As of now, we still need her. If we have to we will drag her from this place and continue on as the Dark Prince wills. We will not remain in this place when the horde marches. Take what or who you want from this place, but we leave at dawn."
Dren of the Dark Tapestry |
Sarakot, may we be borrow one of your Seargents so we can move around unhindered?
Dren and Judge go, bringing Grumbles & Morsum and a Bugbear with them to make sure they can move around un-hindered.
When they get there, What happened to her?
Take a 10 on heal check. Does she appear to be in the same condition as the last time?
Dren of the Dark Tapestry |
Didn't Edmin use touch of corruption to break it? Would inflict create the same type of negative energy, I assume yes.
Let me try something...this may hurt Cy.
Cast inflict light wounds 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12 DC 17 willpower save for half.
The black inky substance crawls over Cy, opening wounds as it travels down her arm and torso.
Douglas Muir 406 |
I'll roll her Will save: 1d20 ⇒ 17 6 points of damage on Cy. Other than injuring her, it has no visible effect.
If Edmin wants to try Touch of Corruption (since it worked last time), he may. Otherwise, let's give her half a day to post before we start in with full-blown "Okay, I'll try cutting another finger off, what happens" experimentation.
Judge Tohram Quasangi |
Let's say that Zimu is hors du jeu for the time being. The next thing that happens is... [roll roll] ooh. Okay.
Oh darn - we all get sent to Hell. Wait, that is where we all want to go. Cool.
Douglas Muir 406 |
Suddenly, a thread of bright red light appears in the air above the top of the Keep. In a fraction of an instant, it forms the outline of a door. It opens.
FOOOMF: A blast of flame and brimstone rolls out, as if Hell itself has momentarily come to the top of fallen Balentyne. Black smoke laced with flames shoots upward for a moment, and then disperses.
Cardinal Thorn steps onto the roof.
You guys may or may not be around when this happens, but I'll assume that at least some of you have come back upstairs.
Judge Tohram Quasangi |
The Judge would have stayed upstairs and sent Morsum - no reason to unnecessarily risk his neck after all.
--------
When the Cardinal arrives, the Judge does his best to appear completely unfazed.
Your Eminence, welcome to Balentyne.
Edmin Al'Roth |
Edmin would not have left the battlements.
The Champion of Asmodeus drops to his right knee and presses his right hand to his chest. "Your will has been done, my master. Balentyne is yours."
Douglas Muir 406 |
The Cardinal is not alone. Behind him and a little to his right is Tiadora. She is dressed all in white, with a short-sleeved blouse and a long flowing skirt, and her long blonde hair is drawn back in a single braid. She wears a silver headband set with a single white stone. You could almost say she looks angelic! If you didn't look into her eyes.
Behind him and to his left is Irin. She is wearing a fur wrap against the cold over loose black pants, a green blouse, and a red tunic with complex embroidery. She is staring intently at something held in her two cupped hands. Then she looks up, her face expressionless as she speaks. "Cardinal, diverts are active. Anyone who attempts to scry this area for the next quarter hour will see nothing but smoke and flames."
The Cardinal nods. "Thank you, my dear. That should be more than enough time." He turns to look at you. "Fourth Knot. Ninth Knot. Hello, my children."
Douglas Muir 406 |
Sakkarot falls to his knees. "Sire! Lord Cardinal!"
The other surviving members of the Fourth are just half a second behind. The Wolf and Raisa also kneel.
Dead Enver stands there for a moment, then Raisa makes a frantic hand-flapping gesture in his direction. With a creak of shriveled tendons, the undead thing goes slowly to its knees as well.
Dren of the Dark Tapestry |
There appears to be nothing I can do for her at the moment. Grumbles, can you please carry her...gently...we will take her back to Edmin. Perhaps his touch can bring her back around again.
Edmin Al'Roth |
Edmin reaches to his side and opens a bloody sack hanging from his hip, the champion retrieves the commanders severed head and places it so it faces towards The Cardinal. "The Commander of Balentyne."
Jax Naismith |
Message communicates via Cy, and she's unconscious. So presumably no spell is up/working.
Try healing the wounds you made, Dren. It is possible a reverse action will work this time?
Judge Tohram Quasangi |
I can also cast Message. Also, I can easily communicate via Morsum who is down with Dren.
The Judge speaks through Morsum and tells the rest that the Cardinal is here.
