Looking to the fallen captain, then to the halfling.
'Thanks for your aid when we needed it my friend! Surely some of us owe you our lives! Now you are truly free and have yet one more story to tell on your travels. But first we have to deal with the wicked captain's crew who have been equally abusive to you ...'

"Oh, you are more than welcome. The pleasure was entirely mine." Nimpy bobs up and down in the air a little, still glowing faintly. "But I believe I will leave the final disposition of the Frosthamar, its sailors and its contents to you. I don't care what happens to those evil men; they deserve whatever they get. Kill them all. But I'm not going back to the Frosthamar."

DM am I talking to an Illusion?
'Join us then, at least for a little, safety in numbers, lets get you a real meal to fill you belly and you can tell us some tales on the road to civilization.'
Douglas Muir 406 |
Whoops, almost forgot.
As the Captain gasps his last, the shadowy outline around him seems to solidify for a moment. A single, glaring eye seems to focus on you. The dark tentacles writhe and squirm, reaching out. You feel a malice so intense that you take a step backwards, and shudder.
Then the thing, whatever it was, fades like a breath of mist. In an instant it is entirely gone.
Dren of the Dark Tapestry |
So what now Nimpy, do you have friends or family you will return too?
Spellcraft if possible to determine if I think he is using Levitate or Fly

If it is an illusion we would probably get a saving throw since we are interacting with it. Static illusions are more powerful in PF, but interactive ones are less so in PF.

DM am I talking to an Illusion?
Maybe!
Nimpy looks a little sad. "Thank you for your kind offer, Lady. But my work here is done. It's time for me to move on." He wraps his arms around his knees and looks down at you thoughtfully. "I said I would always be grateful to you. I meant that, you know."
Douglas Muir 406 |
"I have no family. My best friends in the world died on that ship, or at the hands of Captain Odenkirk. I will have to build a new life, I suppose." Nimpy shakes his head. "All those months of studying, patient waiting... listening to Bag'o'Bones' mad ravings, and sifting through them for the truth... watching and listening to the Captain, and trying to glean odd bits of information to use against him... and finally, this last week, sneaking out of my cage and creeping and listening and prying. Thinking of nothing but revenge! Revenge!
"I hardly know what I will do with myself now."

And since DM cast Grease in combat using Cуровую's bonded item, I can not cast See Invisibility, how convenient all around.
'If you are certain you will not join us, and again you are welcome in our travels my friend, I would ask two final things from you.'
Xenfal |
Where will you go? It is getting late would you at least join us for this evening? We will bed down here. I have some wine and after what you did to the captain you deserve a toast.

Judge Tohram Quasangi |
Tohram looks at the illusion of Nimby.
Please come and join us for a meal to celebrate our success over the Captain and his cronies. While we are not far from the safety of Talingarde, this is still the northern fringe of the nation and it is not entirely safe. You should spend the night with us here and then head south in the daylight. We could travel together once we have seen that the vile crew of the Captain no longer spreads its taint.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20
While he is doing this, Tohram is also calling via Message.
Whisper: Edmin, get your puppy searching for the midget. I want him found and we need him dead by dawn.

cause dm hates me :( pout pout pout
I do hope you left his magical toys behind, my friend here will need to replace his axe, and the captain stole the trident from us.
Xenfal |
Well guys I am at a loss, I think dear old Nimpy is going to escape us.
Cуровую зиму |
I know, man. Xen is being INCREDIBLY charming and convincing. How could this possibly fail? How?
I knew we should have gotten into that cabin Xen!
Also I am assuming the Illusion was the captain's brother belittling the captain.
Douglas Muir 406 |
"Oh, I didn't take anything but the items that belonged to my... my former party. Anything else, you're welcome to." Nimpy shrugs. "Fortunately, the Captain didn't examine anything too closely... after you killed old Bag'o'Bones, he didn't have much use for those items.
"I guess I have to thank you for three things... killing that evil old man, killing the Captain just now -- may his black soul writhe in whatever depths of the Abyss are reserved for evil torturing bastards like him -- and leaving me that ivory lockpick. With that, and some patience, I was able to get out of my cage pretty much at well, and get into the Captain's cabin once I had enough time to make a proper go at the lock."
Nimpy pauses, rocking slowly back and forth in the air.
Jax Naismith |
We...we gave the bard a lockpick? Well s%%@.
What now then, Nimps? You helped us out, and we thank you for that. But there's no reason we can't help each other further at least a little bit.
Can we roll some sense motives on the guy?
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26

"I also was able to explore the ship pretty thoroughly. We halflings can move very quietly, you know, and also I think I mentioned I have an invisibility spell.
"Now, here's where things get a little awkward." Nimpy sighs heavily. "One of the first things I noticed was that our hold was full of good quality metal weapons. Hundreds of them. Which, if I understand correctly, you delivered to the bugbears of the Frozen North the day before yesterday."
Xenfal |
i meant later on I said I wanted to go into the cabin, I forget what the captain was up to, but I got the impression that there was not enough time. I could find it but who cares? We are alive
Bluff1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
You see Nimpy looks can sometime be deceiving. There is more to this than you seem to think that there is.
Xenfal |
That beautiful elf woman would have prevented us from killing the captain, and she tried to kill us. Had the Captain found her body, questions would have been asked. Besdies I hope you don't put stock in her beauty. I am beautiful as well and you obviously do not trust me.
Xen lets the hurt show.
Xenfal |
We saved you, she did not even get in touch with you. We are the ones you should trust not her.
Douglas Muir 406 |
Nimpy looks very sad now. His greenish glow has brightened. "So, what with one thing and another, you can probably guess why I'm not going to come down there in the middle of your heavily armed party." Nimpy shrugs once more. "You've been nice and all, but I've been on the road a long time. And I know that sometimes --"
Xenfal |
You know Nimpy we trust you, and now it would appear that you are betraying our trust. Leaving us. Makes me question your motives.
Close to tears.
Douglas Muir 406 |
The rock strikes the halfling directly. Nimpy vanishes like a popped soap bubble, except with a faint "fsst!"
Grumblejack stares for a moment, then roars in rage. "You miserable little rat! I knew we should have stomped you when we had the chance!" He turns to glare at you, fists clenched in frustration. "Too much... talking! Next time... just kill!"
Xenfal |
You fool! He was leaving us not attacking us. Particularly well done considering he wasn't even there.
Douglas Muir 406 |
A dim greenish glow lingers for a few seconds where Nimpy was. His voice comes faintly down to you from it. "Lady Zimu, you were the first voice of kindness to me, and the one who turned the key on my cage. You, I still owe. The rest of you," and his voice grows fainter, as if he is flying away, "I won't let you hurt anyone. Fair warning. Beware."
And then the green glow fades. And Nimpy Cleadhoe, traveller and trickster and singer of songs, is no longer with you.
Douglas Muir 406 |
Edmin raises the sword and continues to pummels the captain with overhead strokes. Blood and gore slinging from the blade as he chops like a butcher at the down man."Die you motherless whore!"
I am imagining that this continues nonstop throughout the discussion described above, with Edmin only pausing now and then to laugh maniacally.
Dren of the Dark Tapestry |
Dren gets no credit for his daily talks with Nimpy and bringing him food and water? lol
Dren sighs as the voice fades and responds, You must do what you feel is necessary Nimpy. I was once like you, captured and caged, now I am as you find me. It is as it must be.
After a few minutes Dren's shadow grows and he turns on the group, I had warned those of you who for some reason thought we could control someone like that and it has put the mission at risk.
Remember I am someone like that so I knew what Nimpy was capable of. Well, we will have to deal with it as best we can, hopefully he won't have some elements of the city we are going to already aligned against us.
Well, let's go and take care of the crew and the ship. I can turn off the lights and those of us who can easily move in the dark should kill them.
Does anyone need healing before we go?
