Obisyth |
Obi suddenly realizes that she had been grabbed, she immediately attempts to break free from the monster.
Break Grapple: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
If I get free, Obi will move away from the monster as quickly as she can.
John Rhasp |
I absolutely hate the fact that I don't have command undead yet...
"That's not very nice either..." Deader says, his face scrunching up in concern. "Um..."
I am all kinds of not effective right now. No applicable spells, can't fire into melee, probably can't make that save. Anyone who wants it can get an Aid Another attempt out of me this round. Just tell me what you need.
DM - Voice of the Voiceless |
As Deader delays his action considering his options bereft of choice, Joneth flicks a knife at the hanging man - which sinks to the hilt in it's side, though does not seem to slow the dead one.
The macabre hanging corpse then uses the leverage it has from the grip on Obisyth to lift itself up and shuck the noose - before dropping to the ground ready for more direct action.
Grapple is released, and don't forget your Fort save vs stench if you're within 10ft of now not so hanging man.
Though wary for the approach of ghoulish whores... you were not expecting visitors from above. Dropping from the tree above you that they were well camouflaged against are two creatures of brambled skin, hunched-over with long, pliable arms like tentacles capped with five wide, spiny claws. They lash out at Nachni and Cedrick...
Tentacle at Nachni: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24 for 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Tentacle at Cedrick: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 for 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Grab of Nachni: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21 for constrict of 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 and Nachni is rendered unable to speak or cast spells with verbal components. The grappling creature is the one with the blue connective line.
Cedrick reacts quickly enough to avoid the attack, but Nachni is less lucky. A tentacled arm whips out and closes around her throat - constricting any flow of breath even as her vision blackens.
Action Tracker (Round 1): Joneth, Deader, Vine Chokers, Hanging Body, Cedrick + Hound, Nachni, Obisyth, Fish, ?
Obisyth - yet again... please don't post actions out of order... as it tends to invalidate what you had posted originally.
Obisyth |
Sorry, for some reason I saw the ? at the end and though that was all the enemies. I totally missed the chokers/body listed in the middle. Any chance I can use the 16 above for my save?
Fort: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Obi attacks the hideous creature with her club hoping to defeat it before it eats her.
Attack-club: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
DM - Voice of the Voiceless |
Cedrick steps to and delivers an accurate cut, though it lack power to cause a deep and enduring wound. Nachni manages to throw the grip of the bark covered assaulter and steps back choking to straddle where Cedrick's hound stands. Currently sharing position, though I'm assuming the hound won't stay there much longer.
Obisyth chokes on the stench as bile rises into her throat, but manages to deliver a weighty blow with her club despite the strain.

Both Deader and Cedrick's Hund are currently delaying, and can take a full action whenever they wish to.

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 121d8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 Okay, putting the semi-colon into the dice roller is very important...
Fish steps behind Joneth and extends her pike, trying to strike at the undead thing attacking her friend, but fails to get through. Get behind it, flanking makes it easier!
Only real thing I can do.
DM - Voice of the Voiceless |
Deader - to reach Nachni you would have had to leave melee and cop an AoO?
I've assumed you didn't want to do that and instead gave you a 5ft step to the side... plus Nachni was already free.
Cedrick's canine companion doesn't share his luck and the choker is able to dodge the snapping jaws. Deader withdraws from combat with the now standing hungry corpse and Fish tries ineffectually to snake her elongated pike through the open door. Don't forget the target gets cover if there's intervening people.
Just as the crew thinks that the situation is starting to get under control... that thought is challenged as a cloud of flies swarms from the barrels of rotting food and coalesce into an almost solid cloud resembling an agitated insectoid army.
Action Tracker (Round 2): Joneth, Vine Chokers, Hanging Body, Cedrick + Hound, Nachni, Obisyth, Deader, Fish, Botfly Swarm
Updated Map
Actual damage on the hanging man should be 12 as Obisyth is sickened.
Joneth Revane |
Joneth sighs and, allowing himself a mere moment of hesitation, quickly moves to flank the hanging man with the help of Obisyth. Despite the sickness overcoming him, the tiefling rogue still tries his best to attack the creature while avoiding any attacks coming his way, yet it does him little good.

Fort Save: 1d20 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 1 - 2 = 5

Unfortunately the stench of the creature causes her to retch at the last moment throwing off her aim.
Nachni Charan |
Round 2
Seeing Cedrick hold for a moment, Nachni hurriedly speaks an incantation and moments later a slippery coat of grease covers Cedrick's neck and body. Casts grease. A creature wearing greased armor or clothing gains a +10 circumstance bonus on Escape Artist checks and combat maneuver checks made to escape a grapple, and to their CMD to avoid being grappled.
Peq-pez 'Fish' Elez-mek |
Question for VoV, the pike's extended reach lasts for 1 round. At the end, it retracts to original size. As the boarding pike has a hook on it, could I snag Joneth, and pull him back to safety when the pike retracts? Would this provoke an attack of opportunity on him? Would I be able to do so and still make another action, as the retraction is free and happens anyway? If I can get him out of there without killing him, I'd like to try it. If I can pull him out and still take an action, action would be cast Cure Light Wounds. Otherwise, go with the action below. Also, where is he exactly?
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 71d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Fish tries once again to strike the creature, hoping to bring it down before it kills them all. Alas, her efforts are futile. In Inferal, Obi! Step behind it.
*Edit. Obisyth, mind stepping behind our loathsome foe so I can flank for you?
DM - Voice of the Voiceless |
Cedrick's newly acquainted but faithful hound snaps at the creature assaulting his master and leaps up to latch onto a shoulder and bring down the choker - despite the strangling limb around it's own neck. The beast yet lives however and it's grip is not yet broken.
Deader then orders the newly prone choker...

Confirm: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20 for 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
...laying it low in a single strike! The stricken choker releases Cedrick's hound as it staggers from the unexpected and damaging strike from it's companion.
Within the hut, Obisyth and Fish strain against the now mobile hanging man - though Obisyth's club does not find purchase against the foe - and neither is Fish's extended pike.
Action Tracker (Round 2): Joneth, Vine Chokers, Hanging Body, Cedrick + Hound, Nachni, Obisyth, Deader, Fish, Botfly Swarm
Haven't updated map as only Obisyth had shifted - I've held Nachni's action in case she wanted to retcon due to Deader's overwhelming success.
Lastly, yes I'd let Fish drag out the body using the pike - but you'd have to succeed with at attack vs AC 10 to make sure you could hook him properly.
Peq-pez 'Fish' Elez-mek |
I assume the Joneth has moved, as currently he is near me on the map, yet being feasted on by the ghoul. So, E6? 5' step to B6 for Fish to line everything up properly.
As the pike begins to retract, 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17 Fish manages to snag the hook on the fallen man's armor, pulling him to safety, before extending it again to harry the undead creature.
Sorry I couldn't get the 14 to help you out before Obi. Kudos to Deader, you are a mind-bending beast! Alas, I can't currently say sexy. Though if I get the fever... VoV, your dice scare me. *Huddles in fear
MIDN. Cedrick Dragonne |
Cedrick, all covered in grease and preparing to escape the creatures clutches, is rather surprised at what trasnspires in front of him. Seeing that the creature that was attacking him is now attacking its fellow, Cedrick decides to give a helping hand too...
Attack on the OTHER non charmed critter.
Attack 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Damage 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
DM - Voice of the Voiceless |
Cedrick - The non-'charmed' one is already down... well still wriggling, but I put your attack against the one that was still kicking.
Cedrick's axe puts paid to the choker whose mind Deader twisted, and the other is left to attempt to drag itself away from the conflict... trying to preserve what remains of it's life.
The swarm of flies swarms over to Obisyth and she is left with the sensation of hundreds of insects burrowing deep into her skin...
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4 plus 1 bleed damage, plus DC 12 Fort vs Disease and DC 12 Fort or nauseated for 1 round
The hanging man sees Fish stealing his still warm meal and it's mouth gapes with a haunting scream as it charges the aquatic monster...
Charging Bite: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 5 + 2 = 12 for 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

Obisyth gets an AoO only if she makes the Fort save vs the nauseated condition.
Action Tracker (Round 3): Joneth, Hanging Body, Cedrick + Hound, Nachni, Obisyth, Deader, Fish, Botfly Swarm
Peq-pez 'Fish' Elez-mek |
Would it have provoked an AoO from Fish for moving through a threatened square? *Edit, rolled up a CLW, complete with concentration and got this: Concentration, attack, damage1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 221d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 171d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 Before remembering everyone else has to move first. Sigh, it was so beautiful...

Looking at the flies, Deader seems confused for a moment, then shakes his head to clear it. "Stop." he says in a voice utterly unlike any they have heard come from him before. It seems to thrum and echo as if it was incredibly loud but coming from unfathomably far away.
Intimidate the Swarm: 1d20 + 11 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 11 + 4 = 24
MIDN. Cedrick Dragonne |
Cedrick smiles bitterly as he chases up the fleeing beast, swinging for it with the axe once more...

His hound runs along side him and similarly attempts to maul the creature.

Cedrick is unable to bring down the fleeing choker, but his faithful hound tears out what serves for the creature's hamstring and sends it crashing to the ground where is is unable to make any further actions against you.
Obisyth needs to make her Fort save vs Disease...
Deader glowers intimidatingly at the swarm and he sees a half-dozen flies fall dead of shock and intimidation... but the swarm is unbowed.
Action Tracker (Round 3): Joneth, Hanging Body, Cedrick + Hound, Nachni, Obisyth, Deader, Fish, Botfly Swarm
Technically - yeah, Fish can get an AoO on the hanging man as he approached.
Obisyth |
Fort(disease): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Obi raises her club and follows after the hangman striking him from behind as he attempts to retrieve his meal from Fish.

Nachni Charan |
Round 3
Nachni draws her whip and standing her ground flicks it out toward the hangman, attempting to make him an easier target for Obi and Fish.
Trip 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Might take a cover penalty from Deader too, but not even going to worry about it with that roll.
Peq-pez 'Fish' Elez-mek |
AoO 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 191d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 Woohoo! Hopefully that killed it. If not...
Fish jabs the pike deep into the creature's flesh, and then tries to get out from between ghoul and wall. Total defense action and moving to C5
DM - Voice of the Voiceless |
Obisyth - remember that sickened affects saves as well...
Between the ministrations of Fish and Obisyth the once dead hanging man is returned to Pharasma's embrace, falling into a heap.
Though the swarm of flies has tasted tiefling blood and surges forth to bite and burrow into Obisyth once more...
Swarm: 1d6 ⇒ 5 plus 1 bleed damage, plus DC 12 Fort vs Disease and DC 12 Fort or nauseated for 1 round
Just the swarm up at present, so y'all get a full round of actions. No map - but you need to make a choice on how to attempt to deal with the botflies...
Obisyth |
Fort(disease): 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 5 - 2 = 6
Fort(nausea): 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 5 - 2 = 19
Feeling the bite of the swarm yet again, Obi quickly steps over the fallen form of the hangman and runs from the home. <-- not sure how far I can move.
Guys, lets get out of here, I cannot take much more of this.
Once away from the swarm, Obi reaches into her pouch and pulls out 8 small red berries which she pops into her mouth.
Eat 8 goodberries - not sure if I can do it this round or have to wait until next.
