Rocky and Rocky 2 pop their heads up out of the ground and form tongue-like appendages to stick out of a hole in their heads. But Rocky gets too close and the nearest gug bites it, crumbling the small elemental into pieces.

Both the creatures move forward abandoning the pretense of stealth as they loudly crush bones underneath their unnatural gait. The first gug swipes at Kat, and to her credit she nearly escapes in time, but the blow smashes into her chest knocking the wind out of her and into a nearby pillar where she falls to the ground. Awesome blow into pillar which also knocks Kat prone. Rowan manages to duck at the last second and the creature merely knocks a large chunk of stone out of one of the pillars.

I need to take one of those monstrosities out of the fight for a few moments! Mara flew around a pillar and concentrated, her eyes turning pitch black, and the color draining from her. Colorful, hypnotic lights appeared behind and around the gugs. "Don't threaten the ones fascinated by the lights!", she implored her allies.

Kat stands up, her pride more than a little wounded. She then steps back to leave room for Dervak to move forward into the pillars, readying an attack if one of the gugs moves within range.

Kat is able to fake out the gug as she moves behind the pillar and appears on the other side meeting the monstrosity with the business end of her spear. With the gug off balance and over extending itself Dervak is able to land every single blow, but the thing does not slow in the slightest for it’s injuries.

Just as the other gug comes to Rowan bashes it again in what must be a sensitive area and it doubles over unable to move or react. Dervak’s defensive stance pays off again as the creature disrupts another image.

Hexes fly free as Dervak, Kat, and Rowan lay into the otherworldly creatures. Both are taken down in short order, still quite alive but unconscious from their accumulated wounds. Combat over.

The Plaza:

This plaza is a large cave with strange stone buildings built into the walls. Cracked bones of numerous shapes and sizes cover the floor, piled into grisly, jagged dunes. A solid square building juts from the bones in the center of the plaza, surrounded by a low circular wall of gray stone. The sound of fighting can be heard echoing from the other skirmishes between ghouls and gugs.

Trying to make the most of the Haste, and keep the Fortune hexes going. There are supposed to be two more gugs around here somewhere!

GM discretion as to how long Mara can chant to keep Dervak and Rowan's Fortune Hexes going. RAW there's no limit, but that seems silly.
My suggestion would be something like 5 minutes.
