Davian Grallus' "Jade Regent Adventure Path"

Game Master DavianGrallus

Campaign Map!

1 to 50 of 80 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | next > last >>

Hello, I'm Davian Grallus!:

I'm new to the boards, and only been GM'ing for a year or so, probably a tad under. In that time I've played Living Campaigns, Rise of the Runelords (GM, Homebrew'd to be more intense) and play in 1 Shackles game already, hopefully a second one here soon ;).

I also play in the GM_Spooks Homebrew "Age of the Deep" if you want to check out some of my light RP.

The important things to know about me before we start;

1) If you post with a Bladebound Kensai Magus, I love you, but I will throw up. This goes for the Summoner, as well. (One day I'll make a campaign where a Summoner can be played!)

2) If I suspect someone is cheating, with bounds of evidence (i.e. you ALWAYS make your rolls, and just happen to roll a random second or third roll) I always reserve the right to make you re-roll. I've yet to actually ever have to do this, but I warn peeps anyways.

3) I love players who think outside of the box, and remember that this game is about fun first, rp second, and "winning" third (kind of.)

4) I do not shy away from "weeabo" things, or really, anything. If your character can do it, wants to do it, and accepts the consequences then do it. This is a RPG, my job is to deliver a realistic fun interpretation of the AP, not to ride you on every decision. I am the referee, not the dictator. (for the most part ;) ) There is one caveat to this, one exception; Do not CHA rape the party to make them always do what you want to do.

A rogue searching through an inventory is one thing, and a Paladin declaring to please kill the necromancer lord is another, but doing it for every direction of the party is a no-no for me.

5) If you have questions or want to try something, please just ask! I'm somewhat loose with the rules, and if it isn't something ridiculous, I'm happy to work on making whatever it is you'd like to make with you.

Character Creation:

Point Buy
15 Point buy or Roll for Stats.

Stat rolling is 7 rolls of a 4d6. You get to take away the lowest roll of each roll, and take the 6 "best" rolls of the 7 total.

Race
Often times, just playing core races is boring. So I'm going to open this up to 14 RP races, however, every race presented is on a case by case basis. (looking at you, Mr. Level 1 Goblin with +30 to sneak!)

Classes
Core, Hybrid, Base, and Alternate. Please no Occult, 3PP (such as the dreaded spheres of power or path of war), etc. etc.

If you have a 3PP archetype of a Paizo class, we can absolutely discuss it!

As far as wealth goes, you can take average, or you can chance a roll! I am fine with either.

Other
Do not expect magic shop, please plan / re-work your characters accordingly. I am not a complete hard-ass about this, you will have access to magic items, but just because you have $50k does not mean you will get that Cloak of Major Concealment at level 7.

For backstory, I do not care if it is long, or short, but do have it show me where your character came from, who they are, what their personality is, etc.

Once submissions are done, we will spend a few posts reasoning as to why you all are somehow in the know of the others, and what would bring you all to this land of the AP.

Party Size
I am accepting 5 applications, +1 from a friend of mine who wants to join. I wish I could accept everyone who applies, but I cannot. People from the interest thread get first dibs. If there are not enough applications, I will open this thread up from there!

Second to this, because of the party size, please do not expect everything to be the exact same as written in the books. Things will be modified / changed as needed to give the party a proper challenge.

Rules etc. etc.:

1) With the exception of Sat. and Sun., 24 hours after my last post (with exceptions to me RP'ing with those who post more frequently through NPC's) we will move on. This includes combat, journeying, saves, travel, etc. After 3 week days of this, your character will be moved to the side.

2) As previously stated, please no cheese builds. I know you can write the RP and backstory to defend it, so can I. I will ask as politely and sadly as I can that you not do a naked cheese build.

3) I'll expand this as questions etc. are posted. I'm sure I've missed only a bajillion things!

Application process will end on October 5th. Please take your time.

4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 3, 3) = 12

4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 1, 4) = 12

4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 2, 1) = 14

4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 5, 5) = 17

4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 2, 5) = 16

4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 3, 1) = 13

4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 5, 5) = 16

The possibility is good.

I like to live Dangerously: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 5, 4) = 12=11

I like to live Dangerously: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 5, 2) = 15=13

I like to live Dangerously: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 1, 1) = 10=10 X

I like to live Dangerously: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 4, 1) = 12=11

I like to live Dangerously: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 2, 3) = 15=13

I like to live Dangerously: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 4, 1) = 12=11

I like to live Dangerously: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 5, 1) = 11=10

Welp. :/

What does closed for now mean? I've been following the thread where it was asked for a Jade Regent GM and was eagerly anticipating this showing up... Since I never actually posted there (it was a thread asking for GM interest, not player interest), does that mean I can't apply? I honestly felt like it would just be needless spam since there was obviously enough player interest.

4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 5, 2) = 14 12
4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 1, 2) = 11 10
4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 4, 1) = 9 8
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 4, 2) = 13 11
4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 4, 6) = 16 15
4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 4, 4) = 17 14
4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 5, 5) = 17 16

Seeing as you are potentially allowing 3pp I would quite like to play a PoW Warlord. However I'm kinda hesitant to ask for it since they are often more powerful than paizo martials (unless they are heavily optimized) and it would introduce a ton of new material.

I do know I want to play a character with a decent charisma to crush on Ameiko though.

all 15's: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 4, 2) = 12 = 10
all 15's: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 3, 5) = 20 = 17
all 15's: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 4, 2) = 15 = 13
all 15's: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 4, 4) = 12 = 11
all 15's: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 5, 2) = 11 = 9 X
all 15's: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 5, 6) = 20 = 17

Edit: Swap: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 1, 5) = 13 = 12

Stupid odd numbers. Still a good set. This is the character. Just need to tweek based on new abilities.

No no, I am not allowing 3PP outside of paizo class archetypes, on a case by case basis.

PoW, Spheres of Power, Dragon Riders, etc. are not allowed.

Unfortunately, as far as the post goes, you will have to wait. Otherwise everyone could say they were watching the thread, and things can get out of hand fast.

Sorry :(

Liberty's Edge

Just entered another game with a bladebound kensai, ehm. Now I feel bad. It just felt so cool... >_>
STILL.
What I would like to play is a kitsune oracle with the Wrecked Mysticism curse (which, I know, could be boring, open to homebrew it to make it more interesting).
What I will build will be decided by these rolls!
First ability: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 5, 6) = 18=16
Second ability: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 6, 1) = 13=12
Third ability: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 5, 5) = 16=15
Fourth ability: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 3, 4) = 15=12
Fifth ability: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 4, 4) = 14=12
Sixth ability: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 6, 5) = 17=16
Swap ability: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 1, 4) = 11=10 X
Huh, not bad. Maybe a bit too strong, it's 33 points. Please tell me if I should reroll.

@Derz ah jeez, the short end of the stick eh? You can always revert to the point buy instead, as at least then you'll be able to bolster your top stats.

And of course, keep in mind that while stat rolls will change a few things for encounters, it will still be made with 15 point buy as the baseline for how combat, DC's, etc. go.

@Sapiens nothing wrong with the kensai! It's a cool, sweet, Bleach build. BUT-

One can only watch their favorite movie so many times before their eyes bleed xD xD xD

If you are selected, we will discuss re-rolls for the sake of balancing the party. To me, those rolls look fine- they are not the same as 2 18's with a dumped int and wis to 8.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Oh wow. I didn't even realize Derz had a 0 point buy. I feel for ya.

Yeah, now that I actually got a chance to count the points, Derz, go ahead and reroll buddy. That's even below a 15 xD

Well if you insist :P

I like to live Dangerously: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 5, 5) = 18=14

I like to live Dangerously: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 4, 6) = 12=11

I like to live Dangerously: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 5, 3) = 15=14

I like to live Dangerously: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 3, 4) = 11=9

I like to live Dangerously: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 4, 6) = 12=11

I like to live Dangerously: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 3, 2) = 10=8

I like to live Dangerously: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 2, 2) = 10=8 X

Oh come on. That's the same 9 point buy. I'm just gonna buy it. This is absurd.

Liberty's Edge

Derz, I'm afraid living dangerously is not your cup of tea.

Wow. It's literally destiny. Whatever your character is, be aware they may have either really GOOD luck repaid to them, or bad, based on how the dice are treating their stats lol.

What about the Summoner do you dislike? The character I originally posted for the previous game is a Spirit Summoner archetype that gives up several of the Summoner abilities for Shaman ones. I am kind of attached to this character and I would just like to know if I should apply for this or not waste your time.

Liberty's Edge

I beg forgiveness for spamming, but I have a couple of questions:
Traits: how many do we get? Are drawbacks allowed?
Background Skills: are they in effect?

I knew I was forgetting things.

Background Skills

Feel free to do these!

Traits
1 Campaign trait. I'm not a fan of what they can add, so I prefer they just be used for flavor.

Substituting a different trait for a campaign one can be dealt with on a case by case basis on request.

@Anoirtrou it is for the same reason I would probably punish a wizard with all of the Spell Focus (Conjuration) feats for-

Especially in a PBP, summoning not only takes longer, but make for the most perfect meat shields ever designed. In one round you can have a multitude of 1d4+ anythings that will block almost anything other than a AOE (unless you summoned them to surround the blaster npc) or magic missile.

While it is extremely fun to imagine and tinker with in one offs, for AP's it tends to drag it out and just be too good at its job.

However, reading the Shaman Spirit Archetype, I'm not really seeing anything that would trigger me any more than a summoner battle oracle would.

I would allow this archetype- nothing about it worries me more than a Conjuration Wizard would.

One thing to understand-

I will be as strict about your chosen hexes and eidolon selections as I would a Cleric's chosen domains, since that is how the classes and archetype reads.

You're the first person I have met that doesn't like traits. Can we at least take 1 more trait as long as it adds a skill? Pretty sure all of them are +1 or +2 to one of two chosen skills. It doesn't make a difference to my character. Hunter already has all I need. But traits are supposed to help classes with small skill selection branch out a little.

I would, but I just can't. I'll allow traits outside of Campaign, but to be honest, most of what I run I don't allow any.

From what I've seen in Pathfinder, anything you could ever want to do is more than possible *without* traits- Traits should be delicate flavor-

They add to the story, they let a Wizard use UMD with Intelligence, etc. etc. etc.

I apologize xD They just feel like adding double cheese to a cheesy stuffed crust pizza. Fun, delicious, and wonderful-

But not necessary.

Alright, here's Sapiens' submission.
The loss of traits had me looking at 3PP racial traits for getting Bluff in class, but in the end I managed to smother my inner minmaxer.
Mamise is a supporty versatile Nature Oracle with the Spirit Bond archetype, and has some serious bluff face. I originally made her for a RotR campaign, but at the end I disliked the character I had done for Jade Regent, so I rewrote most of her backstory to have her fit.
I realize that the Spirit Guide is an often played build, so just tell me if you want me to change it for something else.

Excellent! I should have plenty of time to go over your, and others, submissions tomorrow morning.

Silver Crusade

Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 3, 1) = 8
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 6, 5) = 16=15
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 1, 5) = 17=16
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 5, 1) = 11=10
Excellent this has potential

Okay, thanks. Here's my rolls-

4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 4, 5) = 18=14
4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 5, 1) = 14=13
4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 6, 6) = 17=16
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 2, 4) = 12=10 X
4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 6, 4) = 13=12
4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 1, 2) = 12=11
4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 1, 4) = 13=12

Not too bad! I will adjust my character and post tomorrow.

Alright, let's get going for this!

4d6 - 1 ⇒ (1, 4, 4, 5) - 1 = 13
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (3, 1, 1, 2) - 1 = 6
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (2, 1, 2, 1) - 1 = 5
4d6 - 2 ⇒ (5, 2, 3, 4) - 2 = 12
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (3, 5, 1, 4) - 1 = 12
4d6 - 3 ⇒ (3, 3, 3, 3) - 3 = 9
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (1, 2, 6, 3) - 1 = 11

. . . That's something like a 1 point buy (not exactly sure how the 6 counts). Any chance on a reroll for that? If not, that's fine, I'll just take the 15 pt buy.

@Yan yeah just like Derz I'll give you a reroll! If the dice double hate you, then the 15 point buy.

Great. Thanks.

4d6 - 2 ⇒ (3, 5, 2, 3) - 2 = 11
4d6 - 2 ⇒ (2, 5, 6, 4) - 2 = 15
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (6, 4, 4, 1) - 1 = 14
4d6 - 2 ⇒ (5, 2, 4, 2) - 2 = 11
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (2, 3, 1, 5) - 1 = 10
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (3, 3, 1, 4) - 1 = 10
4d6 - 3 ⇒ (5, 3, 4, 3) - 3 = 12

Much better. I can deal with something like that.

Derz here. Bones of my submission are done. Might refine the backstory a bit more later, but the basic gist of it is going to stay the same.

Am I still allowed to post my interest?

Well of course! You were in the main thread after all! And you've got 6 or 7 days (depending on how well I can't count xD)

I understand, I have never really liked the standard summoner for that reason. I like the spirit summoner because it is more like the ranger with a close bond to one creature. In some ways, this character I see it as more that the Eidolon is the main character, with Rokkad merely being the conduit and assistant to it! He sees his Eidolon as an avatar of his god, something sacred to protect.

I am almost done changing my character, but I was wondering how to handle his Aasimar ability. I had rolled for a new ability on the other thread; did you want me to keep it, reroll, or just keep the standard Daylight spell-like ability?

(I'm Syeira's player, just to be clear.)

Rolling for stats, since Syeira was initially built on I believe a 20 point buy.

4d6 - 1 ⇒ (1, 4, 3, 4) - 1 = 11
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (4, 1, 4, 6) - 1 = 14
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (5, 4, 3, 1) - 1 = 12
4d6 - 2 ⇒ (3, 2, 3, 4) - 2 = 10
4d6 - 3 ⇒ (4, 6, 3, 4) - 3 = 14
4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 1, 3) = 9
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (1, 3, 4, 6) - 1 = 13

This...could be problematic, given Syeira's stat boosts go to stats besides her primary casting stat...

Gold for a monk: 1d6 ⇒ 4X10=40

You could rewrite her as a Peri-blooded Aasimar.

Ah, yes, Yan brings up a good question that I cannot remember if I answered already or not, you can roll for wealth, or take average!

@Anoitrou I'm actually ok with you picking one out instead of rolling, so you may do as you wish with it! Pick one, keep the last one, or go with the standard. Or re-roll in here! Up to you.

@Archpaladin Definitely. The 15 point buy might save your casting stat, or you could hold out until you have enough gold to purchase something that ensures you can cast to 9th level. A little tip-

I give way more than WBL. WBL is measly and I despise it xD

Regardless, depending on where you put it, your back up attacks / spell saving (hex) methods will be pretty balanced.

Are there Peris in Varisia?

I think I'll go with the 15 point buy.

Bah, you don't have to be from Varisia, unless your trait etc. exclusively says so.

And please do go for the point buy! You will be expected to perform as a 15 point buy character, not a super hero at 25.

After everyone here is done, I will look over what each character is going for, and we will tilt the scales as needed from there.

They're outsiders, anyway. Couldn't they have just come to Varisia as easily as anywhere else on the Prime?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Yeah, but the books say Peri-blooded aasimars are mostly found in northern Garund, like in Thuvia. Okay, I think I've updated all of Syeira's stuff to fit your specifications. If there's anything that needs fixing, just let me know. And here's her character info as well:

Background, Appearance and Personality in 20 Questions:
What is your character’s name?
"Syeira Mavashti of Sandpoint."
How old is your character?
"About 26. I'm not sure about specifics, but I was found as a baby 26 years ago, so it's the closest thing to an age I've got."
What would somebody see at first glance (i.e. height, weight, skin color, eye color, hair color, physique, race, and visible equipment)?
"A petite Varisian woman, about five feet and 3 inches, with a charming, curvaceous, 125 lb figure. Once you go past that, the otherworldliness really starts to show. The golden undertones of my olive skin, how my blonde hair can almost be painful to look at in full sunlight (which is why I try to keep it covered), my blue eyes that literally sparkle like sapphires, that sort of thing. I prefer clothes that let me show off my tattoos and curves, and one of my most treasured possessions (besides the Harrow deck) is the kapenia that Koya gifted to me when I came of age. It's so long I can wear it almost like a cloak, and it has a multitude of stories stitched into its patches. I always keep my Harrow deck close at hand, of course, or in its case when travelling. I NEVER let it out of my sight. I'm more effective with magic than martial pursuits, but Koya's encouraged me to at least take a decent spear with me while I travel out of town as I start my adventuring career."
What additional attributes would be noticed upon meeting the character (i.e. Speech, mannerisms)?
"Others have told me I've got this spooky stare where I seem to look THROUGH them rather than at them, and once I became aware of it, I felt like I could SEE into the skein of fate for the person I was looking at and...I don't know, twist it? I've been practicing it, and I'm fairly certain it'd help in battle. I also keep my cards very close to my chest. Literally. These cards are priceless, and I'd never let ANYONE else touch them!"
Where was your character born?
"I have no idea, but it must have been somewhere near Sandpoint, since that's where I was found. There was a Szcarni caravan passing by then, so perhaps I was born among them."
Where were you raised?
"Right here in Sandpoint, the best small town in Varisia, maybe in all the world!"
By who?
"Initially both Koya and Niska Mvashti, but after Niska's passing Koya continued to raise me herself, and the Vhiski brothers have always been like big brothers to me, even if Sandru and Jubrayl don't get along anymore.
Who are your parents?
"I never met my parents. Koya found me in a bush outside Sandpoint when I was a baby."
Are they alive?
"I have no clue, and honestly don't care. If they WERE Szcarni like Koya suspects, they may still be out there. If that's true, I wouldn't mind meeting them on the road, though I'd probably have more than a few choice words."
What do they do for a living?
If they were Szcarni, they likely swindled or robbed settled folk the way Szcarni do. Though given my celestial blood, maybe one of them was a sorcerer or a priest, and they weren't criminals at all."
Do you have any other family or friends?
"The Vhiski brothers are essentially my brothers, though I'm probably closer with Sandru than Jubrayl. And since any friend of Sandru's is a friend of mine, of course I consider Ameiko Kaijitsu almost like the big sister I never had. Though I sometimes worry about her when I read the cards. She's had a lot of sadness in her life, what with her brother going mad with hate and murdering their father, burning down the Glassworks with it and almost destroying Sandpoint, but it looks like there'll only be more strife to come for her before she finally finds peace. I hope to be there when that day comes, and to help her reach it. Her friend Shalelu's a mystery to me, but she's got a good heart and a keen eye, and that's enough to know for now."
What is your character’s marital status?
"Currently single, though that's not to say some of the local lads haven't tried. I've rebuffed them though. It's not in the cards for now.
Kids?
"No, but I do want some down the line, whether the fruit of my own womb or adopted like I was."
What is your character’s alignment?
"I always try to do what's right by people, but the future's a shifting thing and what "right" is changes with it. I try to figure out what people NEED rather than what they want. Sometimes that's encouragement. Sometimes that's holding them back from doing something they'll regret. Sometimes it's just a good ol'-fashioned @#$%-kicking. Whatever their destiny may be."
What is your character’s moral code?
"I'm no paladin, but like I said, I try to do what's right. Fate is...well, it's complicated. Things are fixed and...not fixed? At the same time. So I do what I can to try and nudge things to the best outcome, whether that's for myself, or others. The only hard and fast rule is the old Harrower wisdom: NEVER look into your own destiny. It brings too much temptation to try and change your own fate, and that leads to people doing desperate and dangerous things that can break yourself, break others, or even break the whole world. I see enough of the fates of others that I'm comfortable letting mine ride along theirs."
Does your character have goals?
"Well, I'm finally achieving my dream of going on an adventure, even if it's just pest-control in the swamps outside town. I also want become a better Harrower to unlock the true power of our ancestral Harrow Deck. I can FEEL the power thrumming in the cards, waiting to be released, but I'm not sure HOW yet..."
Is your character religious?
"I'd say I'm about as religious as the average Varisian, maybe even moreso, given my mother's a priestess to Desna. The other deities they worship in the Cathedral are each important, but the Song of the Spheres will always have a special place in my heart, as the fickle finger that guides fortune along. He-hee! Like that? "Fickle Finger of Fortune?" Alliteration's fun."
What are your character’s personal beliefs?
"Everyone's got a destiny, but it's not always clear what that IS. You can only tell so much from the Harrow, and you sometimes have to look and see how what someone does affects the threads. I like to use that information, help weave it in the right direction...or cut it, if it looks like the world'd be better off without that person. I'm no Sarenite, and even THEY believe some self-centered louts are beyond help and need to be put in the ground so they don't hurt anyone else. Most people aren't like that, though. Sometimes they just need to be gently nudged in the right direction, OR smacked in the face to snap them out of it."
Does your character have any personality quirks (i.e. anti-social, arrogant, optimistic, paranoid)?
"I will read the Harrow for almost anyone, whether they ask for it or not, so I can learn more about who they are and what they're like. Sometimes I'll do it even before introducing myself, since I kind of regard it as my first impression of them, and first impressions are always important. And if someone thinks the first impression I give is weird? Then good! That's what I was going for! The weird little lady with the Harrow deck! People have often called me almost too confident for my own good, but that's just because I look ahead, whether into fate or just down the road, so I always know how best to deal with something."
Why does your character adventure?
"In this instance? To clear out those goblins before they burn something down in Sandpoint with those fireworks they got their paws on. In a more general sense? Because it can make the world a better place, and I want to be in the place where I can do the most good for the most people, and often the only career that lets you do that is adventuring. I mean, just look at the Sandpoint heroes who saved the town from that goblin attack four years ago!"
How does your character view his/her role as an adventurer?
"My role shifts with whatever my allies need. I've spells that can protect and heal, but also weaken and harm. Koya also spared no expense when it came to my education, so I know things about a wide variety of topics, from herbs and animals, to the secrets of magic and the gods, to the tales of my ancestors."
Does your character have any distinguishing marks (birth-marks, scars, deformities)?
"I was wondering when you'd mention the tattoos! They symbolize my role as a Harrower and storyteller. The colors kind of clash...violet for intuition and divine insight, and green for wisdom, but that makes them all the more eye-catching, no?"
How does your character get along with others?
"Very well, thank you! I make sure to consult the cards to get a better idea of who a person is and where they're going, so I know how to get along best with them, and helping people feels pretty good for the most part."
Is there anything that your character hates?
"I can't stand people who think they've got a right to walk all over others due to immaterial things like status or privilege. A turn of fate can render all of that meaningless in an instant, and people arrogant enough to think otherwise DESERVE to be knocked down a peg. And those who are arrogant enough to think that they can actively DEFY fate and the natural order of things? They're even WORSE. They're right up there with demons and devils as things that can hurt themselves, others or the entire world, and who need to be taught a lesson. Whether or not that lesson's lethal depends on how horrible they are.
Is there anything that your character fears?
"Probably my biggest fear is losing those closest to me, especially Koya. I owe everything to her, and I want to help her achieve her dream of going on one last grand journey. I'd never forgive myself if we went off and she got herself killed because I wasn't there for her like she'd been all those times for me."
GM Questions:
Who are you and how are you doing?
Name's Jacob, though I go by Archpaladin Zousha in my internet wanderings. I'm doing FANTASTIC, since I just got back from a week-long vacation in Ireland, the land of my ancestors!
How often do you tend to post?
I try to post daily, and I take my PbP commitments VERY seriously!
What kind of tone are you looking for in this game?
I'd say the tone Jade Regent seems to present is one of a good ol'-fashioned High Fantasy in the vein of The Lord of the Rings, journeying across the world, with a healthy helping of Princess Mononoke, Marco Polo's Livres des Merveilles du Monde, and The Icelandic Sagas, coupled with the stories we forge as characters, especially given how the NPCs and how they interact are so important to the Adventure Path!
What do you expect out of your fellow players?
Commitment first and foremost. It's an awkward hang-up for me, but it bugs me when people drop out in the middle of the story and some stranger joins up in the middle of it. I kinda feel like it messes up story arcs, if that makes any sense. And speaking of story arcs, I really wanna engage with other players and their characters, as well as with the NPCs. I find that that's half the story of any AP, and arguably becomes more interesting than the plot of the AP itself.
What do you expect out of me (the GM)?
Again, commitment first and foremost. I'm in for the long haul and wanna see this AP to the end, so I expect the same from you.
What is your comfort zone? Where's the line for you in RP terms?
I wouldn't say I'm squeamish, but I really don't like stories that get oppressively dark or mean-spirited. I don't like explicit descriptions of torture or sexual violence (though I understand these things can HAPPEN in the story, I prefer it to be "off-screen"). When it comes to "love scenes" I prefer to "fade to black."
How do you see your character progressing as a character?
Syeira's gunning for the Harrower prestige class, so she'll be taking levels of Witch until she qualifies around 5th level, taking Harrower at 6th and pursuing it to completion, then returning to Witch for any remaining levels.

I think I will keep what I rolled before, it seems very appropriate for someone from a horse nomad tribe.

Just need equipment: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 6) = 10x10=100gp

Ok, I think he's done! Let me know if there's anything I've missed or you have questions about.

Thank you for offering to run this!

Description & History:
A member of the Shundar-Quah (Spire Clan), he has a rune of Kokip (Sentinel) on his forehead, matching that of his god. While at first glance he looks much the same as any other Shoanti, if you look more closely you can see a glint of divine light in his deep black eyes. When he calls his Eidolon the rune-tattoo on his forehead burns with the light of the mid-day sun.
The avatar of his god appears as a large serpent with pebbled, stony skin and brilliant green gemstones for eyes.

Age: 70
Hair: Sandy Brown
Eyes: Obsidian
Skin: Weathered, Dark Tan
Height: 5ft, 6in
Weight: 130lbs

History:
Listen, and I will tell you three truths. A tale of What Was, a tale of What Is, and a tale of What Will Be.

I was born in the Year of the Wasting Storms to the Shundar-Quah, what the Interlopers call the Spire Clan of Shoanti. Families throughout our territory came to see me, as mine was a very auspicious birth. As you can see, I have a birth-tattoo of the Kokip rune upon my brow, and the Shaman declared that I was fated to be a God-Caller. I would be a living link to the Avatar of our god, bringing great prosperity to the clan. But he had another augury about me that he told only the Eldest…

Mine was a long childhood. I remember Niska visiting us with her baby daughter Koya. We played together while the Eldest consulted with the wise woman. They left shortly after, and the next time Koya and I met, she was almost a young woman while I had barely changed. It has been that way all my life, watching friends and family grow old and die before I was mature enough to take my Rite of Manhood. The Shaman died before he could see his prophecy come true, the glorious day that Kokip, the Stone Serpent revealed himself to me.

That is What Was.

I started my new life as the Chosen of our god and Kokip and I fought many enemies of our Clan. Kokip has given me the power to channel the blood of the earth to destroy any who would threaten us. But it is not all about fighting. The Shundar-Quah seeks to make peace between all of the Clans, and the mere presence of Kokip and I have made many of the other Clans pay attention to the calls to meet and talk together as brothers when otherwise they might not.

I met Niska and Koya several more times and always followed their advice, which proved to our benefit. The last time I saw them, Niska took me aside and made me swear a promise to aid her daughter, no matter what she asked. When I heard that Koya was seeking to take a journey out into the world, I knew that I had to join her, even though it means leaving my home. Most of the Clan do not want me to leave, they say that my people need me more than some Interloper, but the Eldest overruled them and told them I must go. He said that a prophecy from a Shaman had been passed down from Eldest to Eldest for as long as I had been alive. He would not say what the Shaman had foreseen, but the look in his eyes frightened me.
So, I have come here and will journey with my “little sister” Koya as long as she needs me.

That Is What Is.

Since the day that I awakened to my destiny, I have never been alone. The God of our tribe is always with me, even when he is not physically in this world. Although he can only manifest a small piece of his divine might right now, as I continue my devotion and prayers, he will reveal more of his power. One day he will be powerful enough to sweep the evil from this land, and only the pure of heart will remain.

That is What Will Be…

Friend of the Family (Campaign): Koya; Your family has been close friends with the Mvashtis for as long as you’ve been alive. Old Niska Mvashti’s recent death wasn’t all that unexpected— she must have been over a hundred years old, as far as you know—but it was a sobering moment nonetheless. What no one else in your family knows, though, is that in the weeks before her death, Niska must have known that her days were numbered, because she called you to her house one day and made you make a promise: If her daughter Koya ever went on a long trip, you would go with her to ensure her safety. Although the chances of Koya going on a long trip seem remote (she must be at least 60 years old, after all), you’ve made a promise to Niska to accompany her daughter if such an event comes to pass. Ever since you made this promise, you’ve felt a strange sense of destiny looming in your future—you might even think that Niska is now watching over your shoulder, just as she asked you to watch over her daughter. As a result of this eerie sense of being watched over, you’ve been able to react to dangerous situations more quickly than ever. As long as Koya remains alive, you gain a +1 trait bonus on Perception checks, and Perception becomes a class skill for you. In addition, you gain a +1 trait bonus on all attack rolls against foes that threaten Koya.

Eidolon: Can summon his eidolon in a ritual that takes 1 minute to perform. Its hp are the same as the last time it was dismissed or banished, unless it was slain, in which case it returns with ½ its normal hp. It does not heal naturally. It may be dismissed as a standard action. If it is slain, it cannot be summoned again until the following day. It cannot be sent back by dispel magic, but dismissal and banishment work normally.
Life Link: Whenever the eidolon takes enough damage to send it back to its home plain, he may sacrifice any number of hp, which prevent 1 point of damage done to the eidolon each. This can prevent the eidolon from being sent back to its home plane.
In addition, he and the eidolon must remain within 100 ft of each other for it to remain at full health. If the eidolon is from 100 ft to 1,000 ft, it current and maximum hp totals are reduced by 50%. If it is from 1,000 ft to 10,000 ft, its current and maximum hp totals are reduced by 75%. If it is more than 10,000 ft away, it immediately returns to its home plane. Current hp lost in this way are not restored when the eidolon gets closer to him, but its maximum hp does return to normal.
Spirit: Stone; He forms a mystical bond with a stone spirit. He gains the spirit ability and uses his Summoner level as his Shaman level for determining its effects. He can select spells granted by the spirit as Summoner spells known, using the Shaman level of the spell as the Summoner spell level. He cannot select spirit spells that are above 6th level.
At 9th level, he gains the abilities listed in the greater version of his selected spirit.
At 17th level, he gains the abilities listed for the true version of his selected spirit.
This ability replaces summon monster.

Link: He and his master share a mental link which allows for communication across any distance on the same plane. This is a free action, allowing his master to give him orders at any time. In addition, magic items interfere with their connection. As a result, they share magic item slots. In case of a conflict, items worn by the summoner remain active, and those used by the eidolon become dormant.
Share Spells: The summoner may cast a spell with a target of “you” on his eidolon (as a spell with a range of touch) instead of on himself. A summoner may cast spells on his eidolon even if the spells normally do not affect creatures of the eidolon’s type (outsider). Spells cast in this way must come from the summoner spell list. This does not allow the eidolon to share abilities that are not spells, even if they function like spells.

I just thought I'd leave these in, you can use them or not!

questions:

What is your character’s name?
Rokkad

How old is your character?
70 years

What would somebody see at first glance (i.e. height, weight, skin color, eye color, hair color, physique, race, and visible equipment)?
He is 5ft, 6in and 130lbs, with weathered, dark tan skin, obsidian eyes, and sandy brown hair. This member of the Shundar-Quah (Spire Clan) of the Shoanti has a slim, athletic build and a birthmark of the Kokip (Sentinel) symbol on his forehead. He wears animal hide armor, rough but expertly stitched, and carries a short spear. Most of the rest of his equipment is found on the back of his horse.

What additional attributes would be noticed upon meeting the character (i.e. Speech, mannerisms)?
He speaks the common tongue with a slight Shoanti accent and is soft-spoken. He is wary around those not of his people until they have proven themselves trustworthy. Like all Shoanti, he was almost born in the saddle and is very caring and protective of his horse.

Where was your character born?
In a small village along the Yondabakari River on the edge of the Cinderlands.

Where were you raised?
For the first couple of decades as he slowly aged through his childhood, he stayed in the village with his parents. Once he was old enough, he apprenticed to a shaman of a larger nomadic group which followed the auroch herds.

By who?
Raised by his parents at first, they grew too old to take care of the perpetual child and he was passed on to the Shaman, who finished his education and taught him until he took the Rite of Manhood.

Who are your parents?
His parents were an unremarkable couple, Klamath and Tamakah. They found their status improved by having such an auspicious child and his father was especially proud, at least at first. He found it difficult at time went on not being able to connect as well as other fathers did with their sons due to Rokkad’s slow aging.

Are they alive?
No, his father died in a battle against the Interlopers long ago, and his mother died of old age shortly after his Rite of Manhood.

What do they do for a living?
His father was a warrior, hunting the aurochs for food and hides most of the time and making war on those who intruded on the tribe's lands. His mother tanned the hides, making armor and clothing for the tribe.

Do you have any other family or friends?
He had one other older brother, also dead. His brother had children, but he has not had contact with his nieces, nephews or any grand-nieces or -nephews they may have had.

What is your character’s marital status?
He has never been married.

Kids?
None.

What is your character’s alignment?
Neutral Good

What is your character’s moral code?
He was brought up to always honor his word, but to give it rarely. He helps those in need if they deserve it, but believes that most people must try to help themselves first, for if something is given it does not have much worth. The true value lies in earning something through your own efforts.

Does your character have goals?
His tribe's duty is to make peace between all the tribes and he believes in this, that all of them must work together or perish. He wishes to see his people united and free, taking back their ancestral lands, but realizes that may not be possible. If this cannot be achieved, he would compromise by arranging a peace that the Shoanti and the Interlopers share the land equally.

Is your character religious?
He believes in the spirits of his ancestors and the land. More than that, he has proof in the form of Kokip, the avatar of one of their gods who comes when he calls and aids him as long as he proves himself worthy.

What are your character’s personal beliefs?
He believes himself a channel for his gods work on Golarion, on a righteous crusade.

Does your character have any personality quirks (i.e. anti-social, arrogant, optimistic, paranoid)?
He is a bit suspicious of people he meets, needing them to prove themselves. He tends to be polite to anyplace or thing that he thinks has a guardian spirit, to placate them and stay in harmony with the spirit world.

Why does your character adventure?
Because he gave his word to Niska to aid Koya and because of his affection for her.

How does your character view his/her role as an adventurer?
He is the voice of reason and cooperation when meeting new people, and the voice of an angry god if they threaten him or those under his care...

Does your character have any distinguishing marks (birth-marks, scars, deformities)?
He has a birthmark of the Kokip rune on his forehead matching one on his eidolon, which glows when he calls upon him.

How does your character get along with others?
He is reserved at first, but is able to work with others as long as they show themselves honorable and worth trusting.

Is there anything that your character hates?
Injustice, lies, and those who prey on the innocent.

Is there anything that your character fears?
He secretly fears that he will not be able to live up to the faith and expectations of all those around him. That he will not be able to unite the tribes and fail at his destiny.

You did the 20 questions! I completely forgot about those! Oh I love those!

(you don't have to do these if you don't want to, but thanks for reminding me about them!!!)

On a second note, tomorrow I begin the review of things submitted so far and will post a nice little "confirmed submissions" tag so you all know you're approved, etc. etc.

Relic of the last PbP Syeira applied for. Glad you liked it!

I take it you mean Approved in the form of you consider it a viable candidate for consideration?

@GM Moshado

Ah, yeh. Sorry, it's about 2am for me. Needless to say I will not be posting campaign updates at this time *when we start the AP ;)

Yes, the list is simply to show that I have ensured your sheet is, let's say, "legalized" as a candidate for this campaign.

Questions:

What is your character’s name?
Titus

How old is your character?
31

What would somebody see at first glance (i.e. height, weight, skin color, eye color, hair color, physique, race, and visible equipment)?

He's of average height and build, with grey hair and a short beard. His eyes are sunken and dark. He has the soft stout build of a man who was clearly once very muscular, but has begun to age. He carries his shield and spears on his back where they can be easily drawn. His sword and quiver are on opposite hips. His bow he usually carries in his hand or drops onto the ground.

Where was your character born?
A small town near the Volthuni border in Cheliax and only notable for its somewhat famous military academy.

Where were you raised?

In that same village, before being sent to an early officer education in the military academy in his hometown.

By who?
He was raised by his parents, an Asmodean Inquisitor and a peasant, and by his uncle, a Hellknight of the Order of the Rack. He was raised to branch the family's influence into the mainline military.

Who are your parents?
His father was an Asmodean Inquisitor of common birth named Talerus, and his mother a baker named Scipia.

Are they alive?
Last time he saw them they disowned him. He assumes they still are though they'd be fairly old.

What do they do for a living?
His father is probably retired or in the administration of the Asmodean Church now.

Do you have any other family or friends?
He has an uncle who helped raise him.

What is your character’s marital status?
He was married. When a person is dishonorably discharged in Cheliax it is legal grounds for divorce, however, and that's what happened to him.

Kids?
One. He hasn't seen him in years because of his discharge and divorce.

What is your character’s alignment?
Neutral

What is your character’s moral code?
He keeps to his word when he gives it, but only because he wants to, not out of any idealistic notions. He cares for those around him but doesn't place value on concepts or notions such as order or freedom or morality. He acts the way he wants to act, but is generally a benevolent person.

Does your character have goals?
He's looking for a purpose in life like he had when he was a soldier. He can't devote himself to just anything though so he's having trouble knowing where to start.

Is your character religious?
Not particularly. He doesn't have the active assertive attitude to really be a worshiper.

What are your character’s personal beliefs?
He believes that people become stronger by holding themselves to standards and working toward something, but not just any goal will do.

Does your character have any personality quirks (i.e. anti-social, arrogant, optimistic, paranoid)?
He's sarcastic and irreverent on first impressions and when pushed to violence he's quick and ruthless. He's also quite loyal and generally means well for most people.

Why does your character adventure?
Because it pays the bills.

How does your character view his/her role as an adventurer?
He knows what it's like in the line of fire in the wilderness, in small settlements, in large urban centers, in dungeons... he's the veteran but doesn't want to lead.

Does your character have any distinguishing marks (birth-marks, scars, deformities)?
His beard is unusually patchy and his hair is unusually short.

How does your character get along with others?
He is a classic case of snark and irreverence to keep people distant and hide his inner anger and pain. Those who appreciate his humor relate to him on one level, and those who understand his loss and feelings of listlessness relate to another, if they can get to it.

Is there anything that your character hates?
Overstepping of authority, mistreatment of children, infidelity both in romance and in other types of relationships.

Is there anything that your character fears?
He fears dying alone and anonymously, just another corpse in a ditch somewhere in the violence of Golarion.

Okay, I'll give the rolls a go:
roll 1: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 3, 6) = 18 ➤ 15
roll 2: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 6, 3) = 18 ➤ 15
roll 3: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 4, 2) = 13 ➤ 11
roll 4: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 1, 3) = 10 ➤ 9
roll 5: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 1, 1) = 11 ➤ 10
roll 6: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 5, 2) = 16 ➤ 14
roll 7: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 3, 4) = 18 ➤ 15
