Dervin Oskander
Dervin is conflicted, If these geezer is telling the truth, then Rolth is responsible for Esla. If that's right, I have no beef with Lamn. But we have him here and now, so we need to extract as much about Rolth as possible. If he is saying true, his eventual fate is in the other's hands now, not mine.
Dervin edges close to Lamn, putting away his bow but keeping a dagger in hand. "I'll keep him in check until everyone comes over," while softly kicking the crossbow so it's out of reach, Dervin looks over the supposedly crippled Lamn, taking stock. He talks to his companions as if Lamn is not even there, "Despite his claim of prisoner, looks like the pathways are not trapped."
Perception on hygienic condition of Lamn: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
I'm thinking he'd be somewhat ripe if he was truly trapped here and as physically incapable as much as he's trying to show.
Nanta
"You're not proving too helpful in providing information on this son of yours. If useful knowledge does not prove forthcoming soon executing you and conducting the investigation needed without your aid seems like it would be more productive."
Kesso
Sense Motive on Lamm: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Kesso walks up to Lamm. "Where are the slave traders that Rolth may have sold my brother to? And if you really want to take your revenge on your son, would you be willing to tell the priests of Abaddar everything you know about you and your son's nefarious activities. Whatever punishment they decide on can't be worse than the one you are already suffering."
Diplomacy on Lamm: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Darkwing_DM
@Dervin- You smell a whiff of unwashed Body Oder and dirty clothes when you get up close you see that Lamn personal hygiene is on par with a goblin, wet stains are on his shirt and his hat is ratty.
@everyone- "It might take a little time to find Rolth, I'm sure I got a couple of contacts that I could reach out to if you let me help you in exchange for my freedom." Nanta sees the Oily smile that he has seen many times in the Orphanage. "Your word on it Nanta, and sworn on your faith should be sufficient." to Kesso he turns and says, "I also think that the contact I'm thinking of probably has more info on your boy, you see he Owns a "place" that takes on kids. As for telling the Priests I can, but I think it would be best for me not to go there If I was to go to Jail, I would be a lot less cooperative. because what would be the point? I would be in jail. "
Kesso- in the above comment I wanted it to sound menacing where your "characters" imagination would run wild with what they are doing to your son. but I want to stress that if anyone is uncomfortable with the way it was worded let me know. I wanted it to sound bad but I also wanted to stress that not any gross things with kids is going on there.
Nanta
Nanta has a soft and sinister smile "You'd be in jail, alive. You've only alluded to useful information so far so that's not yet guaranteed. Your son is being presented as a bigger fish so you winding up in jail is possible. Your freedom is not on the table. I can quite happily execute you for your crimes and pursue him without your aid."
Darkwing_DM
Lamn chuckles again, Looks Nanta square in the eye "What Crimes? I told you my side. Then I'll choose going to jail, to prove my innocence I'm sure the Trial will take a couple of months, I will of course need to speak to a attorney if I'm under arrest and not to any of you. I surrender to your party, I am unarmed and not dangerous, so it will now be murder if you harm me; instead of people just "talking" about issues that are happening to Our fair city."
(your party can discuss in the discussion tab or RP it out walking into the final room which is empty while Amadune watches Lamn for privacy. TO discuss what the party wants to do with him. I changesd the some parts of the campaingn so i decided already on the different senerios. this will be a major decision in the campaing with far reaching conceqences.)
Lamn's fate options.
1. Kill em, he sucks.
2. Take him to jail.
3. house arrest at somones house until verifying info. (then decide)
4. Torture to get him to talk. (you will still need to decide what to do with him after)
5. Come to mutual agreement.
Ill have a treasure list up today on what was found throughout the whole house. because while talking you had time to look around the whole place because the group went room to room with no looting during combat.
@dervin- I need to know if your a member of the thieves guild in Korvasa they are registered with the Korvosa guard and receive certain benefits however they also take a percentage of Loot.
Dervin Oskander
PMed you
Dervin retires to the empty room to discuss with the others, "All evidence speaks he is telling true. His condition, hygiene... My beef with him was strictly over a love of mine dying at what I thought was his hands, based on evidence supplied by a pawnbroker. Rolth is my target for inquiry now." Dervin clenches his teeth at the denied vengeance.
He's not my man. I may be an opportunist, but not a flat-out murderer. I NEED what he knows, the others want him dead, and I need info on Rolth FIRST...
"I care not about his fate and I'll not stand in the way of what you decide for Lamm, I only require that we bleed him dry of information he has on Rolth first."
Kesso
I understand. Just to be clear though, it's her brother that Lolth has, not her son.
"I think he is telling us the truth, if only because he keeps referring to my son, instead of brother. I don't think he had anything to do with the arson or kidnapping. But he does have knowledge of it.
And that makes him guilty by association." She thinks about it for a minute and finally makes an agonizing decision. "I say we take him to jail and have him arrested. I sense no remorse in him and have no wish to ally myself with him. But if we do have him arrested then I would like to point out that some of us may be subject to arrest also. We have killed people here. Justifiable and I think they will be able to determine that we didn't kill anyone until they started killing children." 'Except for the first one', she thinks, but that was an accident.
Nanta
"He is guilty of a variety of crimes I have witnessed. His current fall from grace does not absolve him of these. I can temper my personal desires and bring him to jail but I suspect he will try to bribe his way out of it. Whatever approach we take if he refuses to co operate I am still willing to help those who pursue this Rolth even if it might take some time."
Vyushi
"I am less concerned with him personally and more interested in stopping the shiver trade. Too many people have suffered because of it, be it him or his son or anyone else involved. He does not appear to be much of a threat to anyone anymore but it doesn't take physical strength to smuggle goods or sell shiver. He could still be involved. This could all be a façade. He mentioned the potions to appear older or younger, he could have taken the older one before we arrived."
"Taking him to the authorities to account for his crimes seems to be the best option to me. Should he wind up back on the street, we can explore another solution...that is if Amadune hasn't taken matters into it's own hands while we debate it."
Domir Otovos
Dom listens to the others, mostly absorbing what they have to say. When they've said their piece, he says, "I detected no magic or deception, nor the taint of evil about him. Guilty or not, it hardly matters. Kill him. Take him to jail. Worse has befallen many, also in the name of justice and the law. Shiver he gave me nearly killed me, though maybe now, maybe it was his son. He didn't seem to recognize me." He shrugs with indifference. "I believe him, and I'd like to find this Rolth, but whether we kill him or take him to jail, I hardly see a difference."
Darkwing_DM
everyone let me know if you cant access the Loot sheet (there are some interesting items on the loot sheet.)
@kesso- the slips on the brother was my bad, Lamn could still know.
there is a little hand waiving on the loot, I'm going to say Lamn is helpful on the items and tells you what they are.
Dervin Oskander
Dervin goes pale at the mention of possible arrest, "Yea... when I said I don't care about HIS fate, I didn't mean that I was OK with whatever the decision is putting MY fate in potential jeopardy."
Dervin searches the faces of the others, Kesso and Nanta are going to be a problem... I've go to do something...
Pulling the group close, Dervin whispers, "Look, Lamn is connected. I realize some of you want him to pay for the crimes he's committed before this palsy or whatever it is. So what do you suggest? You take him to jail, he'll be out within days if not hours. All it does is allow the corrupt system to do what it is meant to do, protect guys like him. So you'll not find any justice taking him to the law, it's bought and paid for.
As sorry as it is, he has information that you need, Kesso, that I need. Vyushi, Lamn could also shed light on the shiver trade itself and name cells, so that helps your cause. He is NOT going be forthcoming to any of us if we announce he is going to jail. So again, what do you suggest?
Domir Otovos
Dom listens to Dervin and finds at least one thing he agrees with, finding himself nodding when he observes the law is bought and paid for in Korvosa. "One way or another, the law will bring no justice. He'll either bribe his way out, or another will pay for a certain outcome at his trial. What if... what if there's another option? Look at this place. If what he says is true, he really is in a jail already. We can't leave him, surely, but... do we know anyone we could leave him with? Another jail. I... might, maybe, but it would probably cost more than a few crowns."
Dervin Oskander
Assuming side conversation at an appropriate time
"Regarding the take here... My vote is for all the art, gems and jewelry be sold off and the gold split. I think the wands should go to who's best equipped to use them, in the mystical arts sense.
The common weapons and armor, sold off unless anyone sees an upgrade? Anyone know how to use the finely made hand crossbow?
That well-balanced dagger and the alchemy kit are the only things that intrigue me."
Kesso
Kesso speaks directly to Lamm. "What is the name of this contact and where is he?"
To Dervin's side conversation.
She thinks about and then replies. "You're right. We can't arrest him. It's either kill him or let him go. I need that information about my brother. We can only hope that his 'old friends' take their revenge.
Nanta
"We are all aware of his crimes. He has long been deft at deflecting judgement. I have seen him committing crimes as have many of you. We've found no ledger noting him paying vice taxes for peddling drugs and his other crimes so his greed wouldn't even allow him that much decency. Execution or jail are the best options, if someone wants to mislead him you can do so but I will not attempt to convince the old snake he is getting let go."
Dervin Oskander
Dervin is getting frustrated, "You know what, Nanta? Fine. You can kill the next crippled, palsied, unwashed, elderly, decrepid criminal we come across, but..." Immediately regretting this tact, Dervin apologizes, "I... I am sorry. I should not talk that way... this creep has done all manner of serious harm to you all, and... well, I need to take that into better account. But we've got to come to some agreement here."
"As I said; he lives, he dies, I don't care, but I need his information. I take it from your leanings, you are OK with just executing him, just not lying to him about it? Is our viable option to send you away when we question him so you are not duplicitous, and you, Dom and myself come back later to execute him?"
Dervin looks at Nanta, his brow furrowed in the confusing question, "Are you actually good with that?"

1 person marked this as a favorite.
BTW I think while you are talking about what to do with Lamn you can level up your characters to second level.
Rules for leveling-
1- (HP) - I do roll hp in the campaigns, you get either half your base dice or higher depending on your roll.
2- (you can make any change on your character as you are level one currently before leveling you just have to let me know what you are changing. including , skills, feats, background, anything. you just have to call it out. however after you level up it will now be set in stone without special circumstances.) I will let everyone know I'm a big fan of story reasons for changes but no min/max reasons.
let me know if there are any more questions on anything you found or questions for lamn.
@nanata- you have not found the Vice documents yet, but a assumption that Lamn ( a known criminal) hasn't paid would be far fetched. unless of course your using that for justification to kill him.
@kesso- Lamn looks at Kesso as she sticks her head out, crossing his arms he says, "You know my terms missy. Am I under arrest or not ? This going to be murder or not? you have been in there for awhile. Like the Old saying goes, Gold for Gold, silver for silver, Nothing for ……………..."
@everyone- Lamn shouts at the group around Amadune loud enough where you can hear him through the door, "I'll trade some info for letting me go, I got a hideout near here with people I trust if you get me there, ill give off several names and ideas to help you with what you need, and you will know where I am, I want Rolth just as much as you do."
Vyushi
With a sigh of frustration, Vyushi continued. "I don't know. I certainly don't trust the old man but what if what he says is actually true. I mean why trap himself in here would he heard us coming. I think most people would have run for it. Unless Amadune is somehow involved in some twisted plot, how could he have known all of us would be here? He didn't stay just to speak with the five of us...I just don't know."
"We certainly can't trust him, but if this Rolth is the one responsible for the crimes, we must pursue him as well. I am almost say leave him here. Break the plank and he probably can't leave without help. Maybe some of the children...wait, the children. Maybe they can provide some information, if they're not too terrified to talk to us. Maybe one of them has seen this Rolth or could at least affirm his story."
Vyushi just shrugged, mentally drained from the whole conversation and from her mental battle with Amadune.
Nanta
"They're likely scattered." Nanta takes a deep breath "I'm being too emotional due to my prior association with him. If he can provide hard evidence and useful information about this Rolth I could stomach letting him go this time. But I am not convinced yet so that is why I am not keen on this course of action. We can always catch him later. My personal desires must be tempered while maintaining order should come first."
"I will not lie to him, even if I tried he is a practiced liar who has survived as a crime boss for an extended period, he would see through it. An agent of the Order of the Scourge would be more appropriate for this."
Domir Otovos
After perusing the collected items and evidence, Dom stops suddenly when he sees the vials of shiver. Yesssss. You know what that is. He's not so innocent after all, is he? The conversation the others are having begins to slowly fade to the back of his mind. He picks up one of the vials in a trembling hand, unsure whether to leave it, pocket it, or smash it beneath a heel. "I'm sorry, but... Where did we find this? Was it upstairs? Or down here with him?"
Dervin Oskander
"So, as much as it pains, we are agreed to let him go if he is forthcoming with useful information? Next... let him go... How? Where?
If we allow him to stay, eventually his son will return and he could turn tables. Anyone who decides to take him in could have all manner of unforeseen consequences."
Dervin keeps trying to hone in on a solid plan of action all can at least begrudgingly agree to for the moment, "What of his suggestion? Leave him with others? So long as he is completely forthright and helpful in orchestrating his son's downfall?"
Darkwing_DM
@vyushi- Please add the character line under your name just in case i need to do rolls for you. You will put it in the Class/levels section of your Aliases. AC, FF, class, etc.
(yes the children have already left the building.)
@Domir- That was in his room. (I'm sure he takes it for his cataracts . lol)
@everyone, DONT FORGET TO LEVEL BEFORE WE LEAVE OR MAKE LAST MINUTE CHANGES
Darkwing_DM
@Dervin- when you look at the alchemist lab you see a small book next to it. inside you see several recipes of formula as well as several notations on some experiments. since your taking Alchemist.
in addition some notes fall out of the book to the ground. when you pick them up.
these papers are notations on how to make Shiver. apparantly Lamn was making his own. in addition there are notes of a freak occerance when making the shiver and it cumuladted on the "red" vail that the group found.
Dervin Oskander
Thumbing through the ledger, These first ones are actually not that hard to decipher. The base components are common enough, and the kit will make the precision and measurements required fairly simple. These others... the effects are described, but the mixtures... Coded, maybe? More time and study... A new set of options... very nice.
Dervin Oskander
”For what it’s worth, thank you for being less… rigid than you could choose to be, Nanta. If we’re in agreement, then let’s go…” Dervin motions for everyone to follow, then leaves the room.
”The gods are smiling on you today Lamn, though one might not know it by your stench. We’ve reached an accord, and from here your immediate future falls on you,” Dervin approaches the crippled man, measuring his tone and pausing, ”We will escort you to a different locale, escaping your son. BUT… Rolth.” He holds up a fist and counts off the fingers with each point… ”Tell us, then… Where Rolth spends his days and nights. What vices he may have that can be exploited. What resources are at his disposal that could interfere with our justice. Name the shiver trade cell leaders you know of and their locations. Name the probable location of Kesso’s brother and the leader or contact there.”
"Look to Nanta to see if we are saying false - we will get you out of here and where you say, if you are forthright. Devil's dancing on your doorway, tick-tock..."
Dervin Oskander
The red powder. Have to find a way to obtain that without drawing too much attention. Don't care about the shiver, should have suggested pouring it into the sea... Palm the red stuff? No... everyone has seen it already. I don't want to deceive them.
Been here four months barely scrape by. With them only a few hours and BAM! gold left and right. Need to stay with them, these people are OK.
Offer to investigate it? It's why I want it in the first place, why not be honest?
Darkwing_DM
Lamn sniffs himself, "Hey now; that was uncalled for." towards Dervin.
he then addresses the group.
"well now, I'm glad you have come to see things my way." Lamn squints at all the heroes. "Now I have several helpful bits of information. I'll give you one as a sign of good faith, and the others once i get to the hideout. Because you get to choose you shouldn't think that im playing your group. Even though I'm sure its in your mind already. One, (he holds up a finger) is I think I know where the young lady's Brother is. Two (he holds up the second) I'll let you know about Rolths safehouse. Or three (his third finger) where the shiver is being made."
Lamn waits patiently for the decision. wary of Amadune you notice that Lamn avoids addressing him unlike the rest of the group.
All Amadune does is stare at the man. As a undead he doesn't fidget, move, or even breath. he just floats there unnaturally.
Dervin Oskander
Dervin stares hard at the man... "Add Rolth's resources to that list, Lamn. How many partners he may have with him, and what magic they may call upon to aid them."
Intimidation: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
Hoping the entire conversation is enough to warrant the check
"I think it best to start with Kesso's brother's whereabouts."
As much I REALLY want info on Rolth for Esla behalf, if things go rotten later, at least we'll have info in hand that could save a life and we'll just have to locate Rolth later.
Nanta
"Not counted amongst this information is proof of this Rolths crimes, you'll need to convince us. Additionally you are still guilty, you can scurry into a new gutter but you'll be found again. This buys you a reprieve not a pardon. Handing yourself over to the authorities would be wise. Failing that turn over a new leaf and abandon your criminal endeavours, they will only make you easier for me to track down later." Nanta watches the old man, discipline restraining the urge to exact retribution.
Domir Otovos
Dom stares at the old man for a moment, then nods in agreement with Dervin. Quietly, as if not sure his opinion truly matters, he says, "I think Dervin's right. Kesso's brother is the most important thing right now."
Darkwing_DM
Lamn waits to hear what the others have to say before answering.
(2 for brother, 1 for anything)
@dervin- "I'm not all seeing Son; I know some things, but i HAVE been a prisoner."
@Nanta- Lamn waves away your threats. "One way or another you will find out more about how the world works, Nanta. I pity you in your ignorance."
Dervin Oskander
"You're being evasive already... You know your son. Does he have any arcane abilities? has he bragged of any special devices or friends that have mastered any special talents? You KNOW that is what I mean. Save it for later -- Kesso's brother first."
Darkwing_DM
"My son is a cold blooded killer. You see that dagger there, you know what that is? That is the dagger of the "Lockkey killer" he kills people in there home creating a key dagger that only works at their home. Once inserted in the lock the whole building is locked down. illusions spring up, chairs move, corridors and hallways have mist on the floor. you name it and Rolth loves it. He stalks his prey in their own home. slowly that way he can feel their fear. that one right there is for this place. Rolth left it for me, to reminder me what could happen. A Powerful mage in his own right and ruthless to the bone. yes I can tell you about my son."
(if no one else votes by tomorrow, ill post something given the info I have. )
Nanta
"Then do so. Pity is a weakness like mercy that is unneeded now continue talking without the blather, if you are capable of such..." Nanta doesn't point out that Lamn could easily be the Lockkey killer himself.
Dervin Oskander
A wizard... Hmm. All the things Lamn described could be accomplished with some fairly low level magic, depending on the extent... minor image, mage hand, unseen servant, obscuring mist. Or... a more accomplished spell-slinger -- major image, telekinesis and fog cloud. Best to play it safe and plan for the worst.
Darkwing_DM
Lamn thinks a moment while looking at the group, tapping his fingers against his chair as if wrestling with something before finally answering, " I believe young lady that there are very good odds that your brother is being held at Eel's End, a group of barges and ships together. It is ran by a poor soul by the name of Devargo Barvasi he is a Scazani Slaver and runs the place. All manner of vices can be had at the place----" as Lamn is talking you hear a great crash happen upstairs you can hear beams collapsing and serval loud thuds. Lamn looks up and stops what he is saying, "Friends of yours?
Dervin Oskander
Dervin circles around to take Lamn's wheelchair by the handles and hurries him towards the exit, "I ain't waiting for the ghost... Let's at least get ready to bust an exit..." The others are the hand-to-hand experts, I need that info Lamn still has. How for would I go to protect him I wonder?

Domir Otovos
Bluff: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
"Eel's End!? I... I've heard of it." Then there is the sound of the crash and Dom's brows furrow. "That doesn't make sense. We killed everyone. Or, you did. Someone did. I..." He sighs, then draws his crossbow and notches another bolt.
Nanta
Nanta watched Dervin as they evacuated the area. He'd as soon let the old criminal go under his own power even if he struggled but people hoped for information so he could understand certain concession.
Domir Otovos
"A what!?" Domir stares at the spirit for a moment, not comprehending. Then he laughs. "Oh, good. They're dead." He laughs some more, un-notching the bolt from the crossbow and securing the weapons. "Ha! Oh my, for a moment I thought we were in trouble. But it's just more dead people. Lots of dead people. And hippogriffs. Dead." The laughter slowly fades as all of this begins to register and he looks around at the other, more experienced people in the room. "That's not bad, is it? Or... is it?"
