1. Smendor wants that bear skin turned into a heavy fur parka.
The other two items Smendor wants are in his letter.
2. A full list of gear you will be taking with you.
Nice dry fire wood 300lb and a large tender box.
The fire wood will take one horse.
5-10 ropes all 50 feet.
Snowshoes (if he has them otherwise it goes under #1)
EDIT: A healing kit if there is one to be had.
The rest is already on his sheet.
3. Any other information you want to give out.
4. Any other misc. data you would have taken care of before you left?
Make sure his letter is being sent.

Smendor asked openly at the table about the parka. I also think it will really look cool. I am not sure how much of a bonus it will give Vs. cold, but I think it is a really nice move.
I'm sure it falls under the category of "cold weather gear," but sounds a lot cooler.
Smendor
ya I also think it will fall into the cold weather gear group, but it could end up costing 100+gp. The bear skin alone was worth 50gp, so I was really wanting a little more of a bonus. Cold weather gear is only 8gp. Also at this time I only think there is one bear skin in the loot pool.

Note to all
Oleg has limited gear.
1. He has no snowshoes at all, and can not provide any at this time. But he will put an order in for all those who requested it (which is, so far, five people including Brett).
2. Oleg has no tents; you have collectively four "large" tents from the riders, each can hold four people. And of course Smendor has his "small" tent, which can hold one. Brett will happily suggest packing the large tent, but it will be hard to carry on a horse, unless it is a pack horse; which he can do. He plans on making use of this tent, and sharing it with any and all who wish.
3. Svetlana can make a "Bear-Skin" parka. Only one, however, as the bear skin will only provide enough for one person. This will take her time, perhaps a few days to do properly. Stats on that will be provided later; when you return. So far, Smendor asked first, he theoretically has first dibs. However, he was not there when the skins were found; therefore, this assume he wants to "pay for" the cost of the skin. Of course, Gideon, Ariarh and Tess may simply bequeath him the skin if they feel like it.
4. Oleg does not have tanning tools to lend or sell to the party at this time.
5. The 300 lbs of wood can be bundled on a horse. Carrying capicty aside, the horse will not be able to carry that much "wide bulk" and a rider or really much of anything else.
6. Smendor, of the horses collected, their were a total of 28. This theoretically allows each player to keep 4 horses. The other four horses have been claimed by Oleg and Drake as their right of the spoils. If you want to take five "aditional" horses, you will need to work that out with the rest of the group. You are currently riding one, which means you will be dipping two into your "cut" of the party treasure.
I will be back in a while to see the party sets out properly. I believe Alaric may not be able to post tonight, he mentioned something somewhere of not being by his computer, but we shall see. If not, can anyone make spell suggestions to Ariarh before you head out? Thanks!

Addendum...
So far, we've had a thousand posts, which is pretty good. Also, I am giving out XP for Social RP, which I enjoy doing. However, here's the thing; there's a lot of times when a player will say/do something in game, and it seems like other players ignore it altogether.
If a player asks another player a question, it is often ignored both in and out of game.
I.E. A player makes a statement to a player, and it is ignored.
If a player takes action against another player it is often ignored both in and out of game.
I.E. Person X heals person Y, then person Y asks a few posts later "hey, have I been healed" or "Can someone heal me", even though they HAVE been healed, they don't seem to acknowledge it or respond.
Now, this has caused confusion in the past, largely (I believe) because not everyone is reading the posts, or not reading them with much attention. When someone talks to you, you either answer in game, or make an OOC post to acknoledge it, and you are ignoring it for a reason. Otherwise, I will assume you aren't reading the posts, and simply not dish out social XP for the day for that person.
By the way...
I know not everyone can post every day. For example, Ariarh asked Alaric something and I don't believe he will be able to post for the rest of the night. That's a different story. If you can't post, or were delayed, that's fine. Just let me know in your next post what was going on; like "Hey, sorry I didn't respond, I was out of town for the last 2 days, and I didn't get a chance." That's a different story, and one we all go through.
Now, I know we all miss stuff from time to time, there are a lot of posts, but this game revolves around play-by-post concepts. If players post, and others fail to respond, then it's like "What's the point of posting?"
So, this is something I wil be expecting to see from now on. Also, to clearify, asking the GM questions about combat or details doesn't count for "Social RP" anymore. Only if you say something directly "In characer" does that count.
Sorry to be so direct, but we're on the verge of a pretty good adventure now, and I wanted to lay down those ground rules from here on out.

Of course I would be happy to help in any way I can. What sort of spells do you have available? I confess my knowledge of druidic magic is somewhat limited but I will help in any way I can if you can describe some of them to me.
A couple of things about spells for druids. Never prepare any summon natures ally spells because you can convert spells you have prepared to those on the fly at any time. I would recommend always preparing entangle as it is such a good spell. I am not sure how many castings per day you have of first level spells. But always have at least 1 cure light wounds spell. For other spells, Magic Fang is a good one for Dior. Ant Haul is a good one if we need to carry a bunch of stuff or something really heavy. Shillelagh is an excellent combat spell for you if you get into melee. Things like that. For 0 level it doesnt really matter pick what you like except you should always have detect magic.

Oleg has limited gear.
1. Cool the shoes will be in list one.
2. Nothing to say about this one.
3. That is right Smendor is planning to pay for the skin outright + labor.
4. Please put the tanning tools on Smendor’s list of wants.
5. The horse with wood will only be carrying fire wood. I will load the horse so it can walk at full spend. Just tell me how much that will be.
6. Than Smendor will be taking the horse he is riding, the one with (Dry) fire wood, and two others that are carrying nothing.
Dain GM
Brett takes a large tent on a second horse. He will also add 20 days of trail rations, taken from the bandits, which he will place over the back of the same horse. Other then that, he has nothing else in particular.
"Well, lads, let's get going..."Brett says with a last drink of ale from Oleg.
He glances around... "Everyone ready..."he calls out. Other then Ariarh's concern at leaving before everyone is completely recovered, everyone else seems eager for action and ready to go. Therefore, with a last wave at Oleg, Svetlana, Drake and Dasha, Brett checks his pony and the mounted horse. In moments, everyone else follows.
Party leaves at roughly 8:00 AM on the 7th. The sky is clear, and the day is very chill, and cold; you expect such things after several days of rain. You are tacking your horse to “hex G” then on to “hex F”. It will take you 6 hours to reach hex G. Then, it shall take you 12 hours to explore a hex. You can only “explore” a hex with full light. A day is 11.5 hours long. Which means it will take you a little over a day to explore a hex. Brett has brought enough food for himself for 20 days, though does not suspect you will be gone that long.
You shall arrive in “hex G” roughly at 2:00 PM. Starting exploring. Sundown is 6:30, you will probably need a half hour to break and set up camp. This means you will finish exploring “hex G” by 3:00 PM on the 8th. There is nothing of note in Hex G.
On the 8th you begin to explore “hex F”. This area, like “hex G” is wide open plains with nothing new to explore, of note. The weather is clear, though cold. Tents will need to be set up and provisions made for warm sleep. You begin to explore “Hex F” at 3:00 PM. You have about 3 hours to explore it before you make camp. Then, through the night and so forth, you will be able to finish “hex F” by roughly 5 PM (giving breaking camp and pausing for meals).
At this time both Smendor and Alaric have been demonstrating signs of fever, including nausea, including stomach cramps and vomiting. You move to “Hex E” for an hour, then set up camp by 6:00 PM. You have at least 11 more hours to spend exploring “Hex E” before you are finished it.
In the morning, the sky is overcast. It is now the 9th, and you begin exploring. By 1:00 PM on the 9th (or roughly half way through the exploration) you discover something of note…
Alaric and Smendor seem fairly ill at this point. Currently, all of you are at full HP, though Alaric and Smendor are considered “Fatigued” while this strange disease is effecting them.
At this time every player needs to have subtracted the following: 3 days of trail rations from their pack. If they wish to use Survival and hunt in the wild, they may do so. But at that shall reduce speed by half.

YIKES!
Forgot to mention this earlier... Oleg can hold leters for you, but has no personal courriers. If someone comes by in his absence, he is will to pay them to deliver a letter for you, and deduct the cost of the service from your GP. He trusts in your good reimbursement for the payment of the letter, but can't promise it gets delivered, or that there will be couriers, especially so late in the year.
One day, perhaps, a king (or queen) may rule these lands and speedy delievery may be established... but until that day, everyone will just have to be patient regarding letters.

"Alaric, I have the usual turn-to spells in my repertoire that include Summon Nature's Ally, Entangle and Cure Light Wounds. I find those are pretty nifty to know and keep on my list. I can spontaneously cast and am able to "replace" one spell for Summon Nature. That's also a relief as it doesn't fix me into choosing it during my daily meditations. I think each morning after my meditation I shall advise the group which ones I have prepared for the day. This way none shall be surprised if I cannot perform a spell they are requiring me to cast in the moment. I can't foresee every circumstance and thus it isn't an exact art. But, I can be more prepared, and, experience gives me greater knowledge. Thank you for your assistance, Alaric."
I will look at the ones you have mentioned to see if they would be better than ones already on my list. I thank you for the suggestions. :)
Smendor
Smendor does recommend that a few of the people in the group go out hunting food. With such a wide open space it should not be hard to location the group after the hunt. Smendor did not bring a large amount of food on the trip and he did not forget he simply wanted to hunt for it. I assume the group is moving in a simply pattern across the area. So linking back up with the group say 2 miles south in 3 hours would not be extremely difficult.
The second Smendor gets sick he will be asking anyone with knowledge of healing for assistance. He needs to know what he has and how to get ride of it.
Game wise that heal check gives the person with the sickness a + 4 bonus on the save the next time they need to make the save to over come the effect. It is called Treat Disease in the heal skill.
Our Druid fiend can mim Goodberry for food, and Diagnose Disease will also help a lot when it comes time to find out what on earth we have.

Our Druid fiend can mim Goodberry for food, and Diagnose Disease will also help a lot when it comes time to find out what on earth we have.
First, that's all very good points.
Second; if you have any suggestions to make to Ariarh, please keep it in character, otherwise it isn't going to happen.
Third: yes, you can hunt for food. The Survival skill allows for that. However, that means you travel at half move speed. If the party wanst to travel at half move speed, they are welcome to. Actually, the real problem here is that party moves as fast as the slowest party member. Which means even if one person is hunting, then you will have to wait for them (that's according to the book rule for Kingmaker).
Please Remember
I was pretty expliciit about my request to tell me what to bring. Few people mentioned several days of trail rations. Brett mentioned 20, however, and can maybe loan the group a few, in a pinch. However, you are searching 7 Hexes, which should take roughly 10 days, barring any unforeseen incidents, and presuming everything is wide open plains. If the party needs to hunt, or wants to hunt, that's cool, it is just going to take a lot longer. Also, hunting in winter conditions up the Survival's difficulty somewhat. Of course, there's always Oleg's to return to, in a pinch.

An old lightning-struck oak tree stands atop a low hill at this spot—the only tree in a 2-mile radius, in fact. Approached from the north, the tree looks eerily like a claw reaching for the clouds...
The tree... alone in the plains... somehow it seems familiar.
"By gods!Alaric calls out. "I recognize this thing... it comes to mind from that map we discovered..."
He hastily pulls the scrap of paper from his pouch, and after quick examination, back and forth, the group hastily agrees. Then, after a moment of enthusiasm, they rush toward the tree and search a few places, and after a quick examination, (what with pacing out the steps from the old rock to the barren root, and so forth...) you make a quick look and realize that this is the place to dig.
Digging will take you about an hour, for the ground is rocklike, and chilled near stiff. But you all put your backs into it and make a good job of hard work.
After all, technically this is part of your job...
"Well mates, who knew I'd be out there digging up buried treasure. What do you think, eh? Gold pieces; jools; or who knows what?"Brett asks enthusiastically even as he digs. He never really seemed that interested in treasure, but the idea of "burried loot" must be appealing to his sense of romantic adventure.
Finally, after the digging is done, you unearth a large chest. Opening the moldy wood you discover inside:
A masterwork dagger; the handle carved of an antler,
A wand of sorts (identify, anyone?)
A silver ring (appraise for value)
A pouch with some gold coins (217 GP, 345 SP, and 127 CP), there are also three jewels in it, (appraise, anyone).
Finally, a spellbook. Unfortunately, rain seeping down into the cache has damaged much of the spellbook, but five of the spells (identify, mage armor, reduce person, silent image, and unseen servant) remain intact.
Full details will be discovered later. But for now, everyone is well pleased. (The above rolls of Appraise, or detect magic, or whatever, can be ret-conned).
Meanwhile, you gather the gear, put it on the pack of the horses and continue on your merry way. By 10:00 AM on the the 10th you finish exploring Hex E and now move on to Hex D. You have seen nothing in your travels at this time, nothing of interest, except for this loot; with which you are well pleased.
You may subtract another day of trail rations at this time (this is four days of trail rations so far). Smendor and Alaric are still fatigued with their strange ailment.

I am not available every night to game, but I do catch up and post during the day. Admittedly, I have missed things before, but I do read all the posts and do my best to respond appropriately. I'm not upset or anything, but I wanted to put that out there.
When writing for others one must realize that they don't know/think/feel what you're feeling. Very Very little can be assumed that they understand.
I do have a recommendation on how to fix some of this.
When you do something to\with another player explain it like you're explaining it to someone who has no idea what you're talking about. In other words, very simplistically and separate things. When one reads three paragraphs and there are dice rolls somewhere in the middle things get lost in the shuffle.
for example (This did not happen in game);
"Ariah exclaims, Gideon's hurt" and she rushes over
Ariah heals gideon
**appropriate dice formula**
*continue dialogue*
Minus the ooc stuff of course. That's my 2C. You may use it or dismiss it as you like.

I agree. I believe that ALL dice rolls should be precipitated with the needed explenation. If you're rolling a Perception Check, or having someone ELSE roll the perception check, it's good. Just make sure when it is rolled it says "Perception Check" first, and so forth. I've tried doing that myself.
I understand that things get lost in the shuffle, though, too. However, speaking only from personal experience, it gets a bit frustrating when I write out a piece or details, am rather emphatic and descriptive in my details, and it seems to be ignored. It's not the end of the world, and no worries to anyone here, but basically (from now on) the going rule of thumb is you've got to take a little responsibiity for what happens to your character.
You want your character healed, don't ask OOC. Ask in game. You get healed, double check. If you don't believe your are healed, if you think you weren't healed, it probably didn't happen... (I choose to DISBELIEVE that I was healed... :)
But when it happens to your PC when you're not there, or someone rolls for your PC when you can't make it, I agree, that can be a bit confusing. Just be sure to read the posts, and hopefully things like that can be cleared up.
For my part, I will try to be more direct with those details, though. Thanks for the advice Gideon.

On another note I'm getting a little lost with the loot we find. Sometimes its obvious enough who it goes to, like the spell book which i know OOC that i'm the only one who can use it. But what portion of the gold is mine/the groups, etc. My only thought on the matter is to split the loot individually, but include one share as a "group fund."
In other words the "group fund" is treated as a person, but is to be used for group needs.
for example;
You find 70G. Divided by six people and one share to the group fund. Everyone, including the group fund, adds 10G to their character sheet. Any use of the group funds must be mutually agreed upon. One person (maybe the GM) needs to keep track of the group fund separately from their own loot.
This is just one option, but I'm open to others.
Smendor
Smendor has no knowledge of Druid spells, so that chat had to be ooc. I was only showing her that she had spell options that could help.
Smendor speaks on the first day , "I seem to be sick does anyone know how to diagnose health issues."
I was unsure how a conversation needed to be done when it was in the past. The last time I attempting to speak after the group had moved on it was not allowed, but I need that one line of conversation to take place when he gets sick not 3 days latter. That would spark the ideal of helping in everyone's head and cause the Druid to think about what was available.
Smendor speaking as they travel,"Well it seem like I have been out voted on the hunting topic, which means I will need food for the trail.
Smendor's plan was to make a centralized camp than send out 3 groups to either search or hunt. We are in a truly open area so the chance of getting lost was nearly zero. This kind of search patter would speed up the total time taken and also allow the one group to hunt for the others. This was posted IC during the planning part of the trip.
As to healing. The traditional group practice is to burn all heal spells at the end of the day, and have one person give Long-Term Care which is part of the heal skill.
Long-Term Care: Providing long-term care means treating a wounded person for a day or more. If your Heal check is successful, the patient recovers hit points or ability score points lost to ability damage at twice the normal rate: 2 hit points per level for a full 8 hours of rest in a day, or 4 hit points per level for each full day of complete rest; 2 ability score points for a full 8 hours of rest in a day, or 4 ability score points for each full day of complete rest.

I think this is an excellent opportunity to make the game a better experience for everyone. Lets come up with some ways that we can suggest to make the game more fun and run smoother. My first suggestion would be to appoint an out of game "treasurer" of sorts. Someone to keep track of loot and gear and such in order to keep organized. They can host said list on their profile for ease of everyone's viewing. That should help with some of the confusion over that. It is also a bit hard to keep track when we are doing multiple different conversations and events. I suggest then that when we are having a conversation that does not involve the whole group it is put into a spoiler with a tag for that person. Something like this.

I like both your suggestions, Alaric.

GM Response
Okay, I've read the threads lately, and here's what I want to say...
1. I am sorry that Tess is leaving. I know that playing multiple games at the same time can be burdensome, I myself am feeling that strain now, so I understand that playing this game as well as several others can be akward, especially if you are having more fun with other games. Tess, if you're still around, I will send an email asking how you want your character to disapear, and if you'd like a method of returning to the game somehow.
2. Part of my idea of how this game would work is more of "story driven" game dynamic. We've had a lot of combat, and a lot of "roll-playing" vs. "Role-playing". It's been fun, but it leaves people behind in a play-by-post when combat is going down and they miss a night. So, to make things work easier, I will intend to be slowing down combat considerably, at least for a bit, and hoping to go back to some more "story friendly" posts; i.e. "role-playing". We'll still have combats, and we'll still have epic stuff, but I want people to be able to communicate in character more often; like a story, rather then simply placing what is going to happen unilaterly. I think a more social interaction would be good, and fun, and it needs to happen.
3. With Tess quitting the game, and us being short Leto, I think I want to recruit some new players. I will be working on that, but if anyone has any ideas, let me know of friends they like.
4. I'm excited to see how you guys are problem solving and deciding to divide treasure and so forth. No doubt important skills in a fledgling empire... However, everyone needs to try to keep the game "in-game" when they can. If someone wants Ariarh to heal them, then why not ask, as Smendor did earlier? It was a bit ret-conned, but that's completely reasonable given the nature of play-by-post. As for the idea to store loot? I have been making my own notations of that in a private journal; I have several, including a daily record/timeline of what everyone did; a calander of events, multiples maps of where everyone has been and where NPC's are going and comming from, among other things. I am happy to do all this for you guys, though it does take work, and if anyone else wants to do it for me and keep my life a little easier, I'll gladly appreciate it. In fact, I love it. There's a lot to keep track of right now... and a lot of things going in game at the same time... I'm hoping you enjoy it when it happens.
5. I want to have FUN playing this game. If you aren't having fun, don't be afraid to tell me that, and tell me why; specifically WHY, so I can do what I can to make things better. I wil work with anyone on improving the game, but I need to know that they like.
Okay... enough of my rant. Sorry Tess has moved on. If he is reading this, take care.

A silver ring (appraise for value)
Appraise for the ring: 1d20+5three jewels (appraise, anyone).
Appraise for the gems: 1d20+5
1. The ring...
You've not seen such markings before, so you can't tell if it meant to be carved that way, or just accidental... in fact, it's hard to really get a good gauge. What you are clear on is this: the raw weight of the silver is about 1.5 lbs... this suggets that in pure silver alone the ring is 75 SP, but you don't have a good understanding on the relative value of the design.
2. Actually, I need three different rolls, one for each. However, your first roll tells you the following...
- a nice stone, not really a jewel, fine onyx perhaps. Worth about 40 GP on open market; you're quite sure.

MEANWHILE
Ariarh, with Smendor making his comment in game, would you mind doing a healing check on him to "diagnose" the problems he is having medically, and decipher what can be done about it? Smendor, as you are out of food...
"Ha, lad! You're ready for battle, but not for eating? Why, I say be ready for both. That's why I got me full and propper kit packed,"Brett says with a gesture at the large ammount of food he has brought for himself.
"As ye ain't got a bite, I'll be happy to share a piece with you, for now. Of course, if I DO share with you, we'll have just enough to last us for about a week. Then we'll need to do some hunting... nay harm in that, but it will slow us down a piece."he adds with a wink.
"Say, what exactly did you find in that loot? Onyx, eh? And what else?"
Your characters will bunk down for the night and continue exploring in the morning.
Next...
By 10:00 AM on the 10th you finish exploring Hex E. You now move onto Hex D. After six hours or so (that is, by around 4:00 PM… you see dark clouds on the horizon, and tack course to a tall craggy rock… A series of hills and stony glens gives way to taller and taller crags and peaks, and what looks like an almost mountain, if it weren’t so short… say rather a large stony hill, the surrounding terrain looking like a damp quarry. You approach the cliffs, and see what looks like a cave there, and with the weather growing darker, Brett suggests you may want to check the cave for further details. Tacking your horses to it, you see that the cave is somewhat narrow, but seems long and broken and a dim glitter catches your eye. I need either an Appraise check, or Knowledge: Dungeoneering, if any of you have it.

Speaking to the Group,

I'll be happy to keep a tally of loot and who the loot goes to using this character. Everyone (including DM please) post a list of what gear you currently have and any relevant details. Use spoiler tags if it's a long list. Details could include stuff like weight, where it's being carried etc. I'll keep seperate tallies and move them as people tell me. It'll help prevent accidental duplication of items and gold. We'll start now from scratch, so to speak.

Gem 2 appraise check:1d20+5
Gem 3 appraise check:1d20+5And than the appraise check for the odd cave thing:1d20+5
Your check on Gem 2: AMYTHEST: 50 GP
Your check on Gem 3: TOPAZ: 75 GP
Your check on the cave itself is less successful. Whatever it is, or you may THINK it is, is obfuscated when heavy clouds move over your faces. Sadly, you are not clear...
I suppose Brett will make an Apparaise check, and while I'm at it, so will Tess...
Brett's Appraise:
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Tess's Appraise:
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
