"Hrmmm... something is wrong here. I can read this... but it doesn't make any sense... It's got more gibberish than a Docks District drunkard." Quinn closes the book and looks at the rest. "Sooooo we're back to the entr'acte, it seems. No book, no contact, at least now there's no Aspis to compete with."

With a sly grin to Wreck, "Fancy another go at that podium?"

Reiko will look around the garden they are currently in, then search the special door for anything interesting or unusual.
perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12
Not seeing anything of note, she heads back in, and looks at the pillar once more.

Quinn stands on one side of the pillar and will help Wreck move it.
Strength Aid: 1d20 ⇒ 7
1) Wreck, give it a roll. If push comes shove (literally), you may be able to take 20 on it. 2) Of all the preparations Quinn has, nothing can help him here. Sadness. Ah well.

With a pleased grin, Quinn claps Wreck on the shoulder. "Well done you!" He then casts Detect Magic towards the book.

It radiates faint universal magic and is written in a Tien script. IT is a beautiful book bound in red leather with an embossed pair of nunchaku on the cover. Since it is an arachiac dialect it requires a DC 30 linguistics check to translate, but the beautiful illustartion leave no doubts as to its pedigree.

Quinn gently picks it up and, likely still under the effects of his spell, starts flipping through its pages.

Lini takes a 10 on Handle animal for a DC 27 on Droogrami to retrieve the chest using her mouth. "Stand back everyone, just in case it is trapped. Droogami is resilient to traps." Lini motions for everyone to move back 20' from the chest.

With no loose pages or anything, Quinn frowns for a second. "Was hoping for some notes of the master of the house about where his guest may be... Well!" Back in high spirits. "As an old tracker once told me, dare ka wo mitsukeru baai ha anata no me wo shiyou shi masu." Seeing not everyone speaks Tien, he translates. "If you want to find someone, use your eyes."

"We have yet to find our erstwhile cohort, my fine foxy friend. Shall we head back to the atrium and check the last few rooms?" Quinn offers his arm to Peri before heading back to the atrium to continue around the room in the same manner as before.
Quinn Kouniashi

Oh right! I thought it was the three on the south end of the atrium we needed. Guess not. Back to the dining room!
Quinn leads Peri after Reiko and adds his eyes to the search. Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22

A quick perusal of this space reveals it to be an elaborate kitchen outfitted for the preparation of sumptuous gourmet meals. Stone countertops and oak cupboards line the walls, and three iron stoves run down the center of the room. The place is thoroughly stocked with pots and pans, cutlery of the finest quality, and implements whose purpose can only be guessed at by those without vast culinary experience. Various barrels, jars, and other containers around the expansive workspace hold foodstuffs, though not in great abundance, as Passad does not expect to entertain here for several months
A large door in the southeast corner of the kitchen leads to a 10-foot-by-10-foot wine cellar. A sturdy padlock (Disable Device DC 18) secures the door.

Quinn takes out a couple keys on a ring which he keeps forgetting about, trying each one in turn hoping for a result.
Skeleton keys. Gotta love 'em. And there are 5 of them.
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
"No muss, no fuss." Quinn is clearly enjoying himself as he pockets his keys again. He does a Perception check on the door and, if clear, opens it and does another Perception within.

"Oh Wreck, would you terribly mind carrying the chest? Poor Droogami's mouth is getting tired and she may need it if we encounter any more Aspis agents."
Lini is still in small air elemental form wielding a cure moderate wand and hovers above Quinn with perfect flight maneuverability (grants darvision 60' too). She also looks into the room and casts Detect Magic beforehand.

Quinn closes his eyes to try to remember details. "We found a fake with those Aspis snakes, the real one beneath the podium atop that chest, and some other bound book within."
And I just realized we never actually unlocked the chest, so, retro skeleton keys?
Key 1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
Key 2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
