As noted in my previous post, Franz is moving to meet Zad and is equally eager to receive the weapon and stuff. As soon as able he'll load it up and attack but I think that will be for next round.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Zadlu hands the rifle over to Franz while another ungor tries to decapitate Fernis but the crude spear the creature swings harmlessly bounces off the dwarf's armour.

Mareike manages another cut, but the monster in the painting is now so close that she is able to make out small details: crimson scales that reflect the twilight, yellow eyes full of hate, a mixture of saliva and blood dropping from the corners of the monster's mouth...

Matching the beast's attack, Fernis presses the defense of the wall.

Fear and desperation fueling her efforts, Mareike draws her second dagger.

She then thrusts both into the canvas, then hanging from the daggers uses her body weight to drag their sharp edges down through the picture. When she nears the bottom , she will arrest her downward momentum by pulling the daggers out and plunging them into another section of the picture .
She then "climbs" back up the picture with the daggers, then drags them through the canvas once more with her body weight.

All through this , she says in a now hoarse sing-song voice "Sigmar! Sigmar! Sigmar! Sigmar!"

Move stance to 3 reckless, spending 1 fortune
I'd think this was another stunt : 3 red 1 fortune dice

Fernis and Marieke take the two 'us' spots above the ungors.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Fernis looks at the scrawny figure in front of him and for a short moment he nearly feels something like pity with the human that creature once was - then he finishes the ungor with a clan blow to the ribs.

-------

The painting now looks a bit like a tattrered flag flying in a storm. Mareike's religious fervour has lent her powers no one would have expected from the girl, but the stress is beginning to take its toll (1 stress, 1 fatigue).

As she plungers her daggers again in the painting, suddenly they sink into it as if it was just normal canvas - the next moment she feels how she begins to fall...the chaos magic that held it aloft is suddenly gone and Mareike will be shattered if she does not manage to grab one of the large branches of the fir tree next to the manor...

stunt - any white dice?

--------

The ungor facing Rangnir snarls and raises his club - this time he misses the dwarf and tumbles forward because of his own momentum(+1 white die for Fernis' next attack).

Her intent so focused on "killing" the vile picture she hung from, Mareike almost did not notice her sudden success. With a lurch of her stomach, she and the canvas began to fall!

Satisfied that her duty to Sigmar was done and if she fell and shattered on the ground, she was certain she'd be admitted to Sigmar's domain in the Aethyr. Nonetheless, she fought to see if Sigmar's will was done with her.

With a twist of her body, she abandoned her daggers to the falling canvas and lurched in the air, reaching for the branches of the nearby fir tree flying by her outstretched hands.

Handing off the weapon, Zadlu turns to where Marieke has begun to plummet and reaches out to Morr. "Black father, take not Sigmar's servant. She has many beastmen to hasten to your side before it will be her time... break her not"

Minor Ward on Marieke to increase soak is the best I can think of...

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Maybe somewhere far away a hammer-wielding god smiles for a moment...Mareike manages to grab a branch and even though the sudden stop nearly tears her arm off (1 wound) she manages to cling to the branch and does not end as a pile of broken bones - at least not for now.

-------

Kit contains five potions of powder and shot and yes, it's a Hochland Rifle.

Franz fires another shot and the bullet smashes through an ungor's neck and by that does not even allow the creature a death cry.

Behind him Gand and the dogs reach the scene and join the fray - moments later you have managed what looked impossible in the first place, the wall is free from beastmen and the ugly mutants have stopped climbing the ladders. For a second the whole battle seems to be on the edge...

They are disheartened. Blucher says in open surprise.

Zealot of Sigmar ( St:3, To:4,Ag:3,In:3, Wi:4,Fe:2 -- Def:1, Soak:2, WT:13,CT:9 -- Wounds:12, Fatigue:0,Stress:0-- Stance:Neutral(0)-- Current Action: Reckless Cleave Recharge:0 Active Defence:Dodge Recharge:0 ) Other Action :

Grunting from the pain of the sudden stop, but elated that Sigmar obviously still had need if her, Mareike grabs the Sigmar-blessed branch with her other hand and begins to shimmy down the branch in towards the trunk where the wood is more robust. Once at the center of the tree she will try to climb down.

Fighting her pain and fatigue, Marieke is spurred on by the continued sounds of fighting from the wall.

Franz see Mareike make a near miraclous grab of tree branches to check her fall. He sighs in relief, reloading the rifle and advancing to the wall and a merlon. Peering out he checks to see what is happening beyond the walls. He looks for his old "friend" that he shot earlier, finding him or failing that another of the larger gors, he'll take a shot to encourage them to leave.

Franz' next shot hits the same gor and is powerful enough to carry the monster off his feet. The ungors have seen enough and turn around like a herd of frightened sheep, they run for the forest but after 10m a terrible sound makes them freeze and your blood curl.

The minotaur stomps out of the forest, lowers his head and charges the gate!

DM, you stated we have a rally step, do we move our stances one step neutral and recover 1 fatigue and 1 stress? Did the minotuar's shout disable or weaken any of the character's?

Franz, after grunting in satisfaction at the fleeing ungor, sees a nightmare of power and terror appear and release a scream torn from the pits of hell itself. This causes the flight to stop as the vast beast charges the gate. In a strange calm, Franz falls back on his excellent training and reloads as if in a trance, calling out firmly, "Minotaur charging the gate, prepare for breach." He levels the rifle at the charging beast and fires.

Move to join Gand.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Yes, everyone moves his or her stance one segment to neutral and recovers 1 stress and fatigue. The minotaur's roar did not shaken you, but restored the courage of the ungors.

The thundering noise of the Hochland Rifle is drowned by the minotaur's roar and even though the bullet sinks deep into the flesh of the monster's shoulder it has no effect onm its ferocity. When the minotaur's mutated horns connect with the gate it feels like an earthquake has hit the manor. Grout dust sprays from the gate house and for a second you fear that the whole section of the wall just collapses, but for the moment the gate has withstood the terrible display of brutal power.

Gand, Fernis, Rangnir, Blucher, Lord Rikkard and the dogs await the inevitable in the yard, while Franz reloads his rifle and Mareike climbs down (where is Zad?).

Desperate, Rangnir takes a few steps back and looks for a particularily battered part of the battlement, hoping to place himself in a way that the Gor will have to sacrifice sure footing for a chance to strike at him.

Provided he gets that far, he will then viciously hit the creature, hoping to make him 'leave' the battlement downwards.

I have to say that I don't think it's good when I do all the combat alone. I don't know which defenses you want to use when or when to use fortune points. Your acting order isn't clear etc. I'd say we trust each other well enough that everyone uses the dice roller and posts his or her results.

Fernis runs over to the minotaur and like a dwarven cannonball barrels into the creature that is four times his own height. The surprised monster is too slow for any active defence and so Fernis scores a clean hit (3 success, 1 bane).

On the wall, the gor heaves his heavy hammer high above his head and lets it drop on Rangnir. As the weapon connects with Rangnir's shoulder it feels like a comet has hit him (12 wounds).

Down in the yard Franz fires the rifle for a last time - a nice shot that hits the minotaur's head and takes some of the antler-horns off. (3 success, 1 stress)

After some more beastmen have moved into the yard, Rangnir stumbles away from the gor and brings a damaged part of the wall betweem him and the monster.

Armor no, toughness...no...so the first attack didn't actually leave much of a scratch and this one hit for 6. Has been a long time (left out 2nd edition, never before played 3rd...thank you for the reminder)

That leaves Rangnir standing, waiting for the gor to close in and hopefully fall (hah) for his plan.

That the best you can do? You are as clumsy as you are hæslig. Come on you son of a mishappen goat!

Once the Gor hits the right spot, Rangnir does his best to get him down.
