You are passengers on a cargo ship called the Jenivere, headed south to Sargava. The voyage promises not only to bring you and your fellow passengers together as you face adversity, but also to set you on a path into the very heart of one of Golarion’s most feared regions in search of wealth, fame, and ancient secrets.

With a broad smile, Estietre waves to Ishirou on her way to Jask...
"Good day to you Ishirou!"

Then waves to Jask, and gives the slightest curtsy upon reaching his table. She smiles and nods to the others at the table.
"Hello again Jask. Hope we are not interrupting...."

Grand Lodge

Ishirou waves back by way of waving the party over. A disappointed look crosses his face when Mum and Lawdrak choose to walk over toward Jask and his companions instead. His face brightens a bit seeing Hana head his direction.

"Not at all. Good to see you again." Jask responds. "My friends here work for General Havelar and would be part of our group should you, of course, choose to help us find the city."

Which direction is Dereje heading?

Grand Lodge

Bump for Dereje (and anyone else)

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Hana gives Ishirou an appropriate bow, then says with a hint of a smile, "It's always good to see a fellow survivor." She takes a seat next to him without waiting. "Have you found civilization agreeable? Are you planning to charter a ship home, or making a new start here?"

With Mum and Lawdrak already heading in Jask's direction, Dereje nods to Hana and follows her over to Ishirou.

"I suspect that you would have a much longer trip home than I would," he adds with a grin, taking up a seat of his own nearby.

Grand Lodge

Ishirou smiles. "It's has been quite pleasant to be back in civilization, but my time here will be short, although I will not be going home. My superiors have asked me to enter the race for the hidden city that you both know all too much about. It would be an honor if you would accompany me."

Of course, Dereje thinks with a thin smile, at once amused and slightly annoyed by his fellow survivors' differing agendas and allegiances. It was to be expected, of course, but after all of the cooperation it took to escape the Shiv, it seemed a shame they were now essentially competitors.

"Pray remind me, what organization do you represent? And what designs do they have in mind for Saventh-Yi?"

Grand Lodge

"The Aspis Consortium. As for our designs on Saventh-Yi, to recover its treasures of course. No different than the other factions that you've spoken to...or will speak to. We're simply being honest with our intentions."

Grand Lodge

Bump, or should we call time of death on this one?

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"I am not familiar with the Consortium... tell me a bit more?" prods Hana.

Grand Lodge

Ishirou nods. "The Consortium, is not terribly different than the Pathfinder Society in this instance, Hana. We are an organization that is intent on recovering antiquities and turning a profit on such things. Really the only difference is that we are telling up front that is our goal. The Pathfinders will pay lip service to collecting and cataloging, but they will turn around and sell much of what they find as well."

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"In this instance? Does the Consortium do other work as well?" Hana asks.

"You know that as a samurai-ko, 'profit' and 'mercantile dealings' are not really motivators for me."

"...and while such things do appeal to me, I like to be careful about who I choose to work with," Dereje continues, giving Hana a glance. "What grand designs does your Consortium have for Saventh-Yi, beyond just making a profit?"

Grand Lodge

"No grand designs at all." Ishirou responds with a grin. "Like I said, we're very straight forward with our intentions."

Grand Lodge

Jumping Ahead...

Despite the best efforts of your fellow castaways, Jask, Ishirou, Aerys, and Sasha, representing rival factions (Sagavran government, Aspis Consortium, Free Captains, and the Red Mantis), the party settles on Gelik and the Pathfinder Society after a long deliberation that had come down to the Society or the Government.

Your fellow former castaways and their associated factions are more than just a bit disappointed to not have your help in the search for Saventh-Yhi, but intend to carry on none-the-less.

Each faction, over the next few days, makes their final preparations for the journey in search of the long lost and forgotten city.

Early on in the preparation process, Gelik introduces you to a couple of the expedition leaders (at least from the point of view of the Society). First and foremost is a rough-looking, red-haired, bearded man called Amivor Glaur. The other is a tiefling male, named Savras Skuld.

Amivor glances over each of you before finally nodding in approval. "Welcome to the expedition. If you lot are even a quarter as good as Gelik makes you out to be, we'll all be in good company." Reaching into a bag, he presents each of you with a device that looks like a compass. "These are wayfinders. Handy little trinkets to have around - let you know what direction you're goin' and light the way too if need be. As an added bonus, if you're lucky enough to run across an ioun stone, these little devices can bring out the best in them."

Feel free to ask any questions, make any comments, talk among yourselves (Savras included). In the room are the PCs, Amivor, and Gelik

As the conversation begins to die down, Amivor mentions, "It might not be a bad idea to see if we can procure the services of local guide to help navigate the jungle and maybe broker a bit of peace with any tribesmen we may run across. I've taken the liberty of asking around a bit already, the consensus seems to be that a man Nkechi the Tempest is our best bet. You folks wanna take a crack at trying to gain his services?"

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Hana absorbs the information from the Guild contact while at a stiff attention. Finally she nods slightly and says, "Where might we find this local guide?"

human wizard (spirit whisperer) 5 ~ HP: 30 ~ AC:13 Tch:12 ff:11 ~ CMD 13 ~ Fort:+4 Ref:+5 Will:+6 ~ Init:+6 Per:+2

Estietre inspects the wayfinder as Amivor continues “How nice... We are quite anxious to get started. I am curious how this fellow earned the name the Tempest... I suppose we will find out soon enough.
She beams with excitement, and looks to the others... “A new adventure.. how thrilling!

Grand Lodge

"I can't say for sure, as I haven't been there myself. But the folk we've asked say he lives a few miles north of here in a cave in the Pallid Bluffs. They say the best way to get to him is to take a boat along the coast and try and row in at high tide." Amivor says in response to Hana's question.

"How'd he get the name? Good question. Locals say he's a bit...temperamental."

Lawdrak hastily looks up from where he had been enthralled by the tiny moving needle in his new wayfinder, a bit of a blush on his cheeks.

"Sure! Let's go! When should we leave to arrive at high tide? Does anyone know how to...drive?...a boat?"

"Greetings new friends. Always interesting to meet people who have not spent their entire lives here, I am sure we shall get along famously!

I speak the local language which will be useful the further we get into the interior and I specialize in neutralizing the types of terrible little trap that may protect this ancient ruin.

I do swim but I fear I am not much of a navigator though if none of the rest of you are either I am happy to give it a shot. Let's go meet this Nkechi the Tempest eh?"

Dereje inspects his newly acquired wayfinder before slipping it into one of his coat pockets.

"Well met, Mister Skuld," he says, acknowledging the tiefling with a polite nod. "I am sure that your skills will be invaluable to the expedition."

"I have a rowed a boat before, but I would not exactly call myself an expert. Even so, if the waters are not too choppy, I do not imagine it being terribly difficult."

Grand Lodge

Amivor says regarding Lawdrak's question, "If you leave Eleder first thing in the morning, you should arrive at the Pallid Bluffs just before high tide, provided you run into minimal complications along the way."

Savras nods to Dejere, "My pockets are also lined. I will be making a supply run myself".

Grand Lodge

What all would you folks like to buy/sell?

Grand Lodge

The party spends the afternoon and early evening going their own separate ways, in search of a much-needed upgrade to their equipment.

You reconvene that evening back at The Sagava Club, where you had previously met with and agreed to work with Amivor Glaur and the rest of the Pathfinders. Amivor has arranged for rooms for you for the evening, along with a decent meal of a spicy fish stew and your choice of ale or mupute - a sweet Zenj liquor distilled from sugarcane and pineapple.

After a short but pleasant evening, you retire to the rooms Amivor has provided and awaken refreshed in the morning.

With daylight burning, it would seem time to head out in search of Nkechi the Tempest.

How would you like to approach the Tempest's cave? By boat? By land? You have been advised to approach the Pallid Bluffs by shore. Walking most of the way there is an option too.

Tiefling Unchained Rogue 5 | HP = 30 | AC 15 | F +2 R +7 W +2 | CMD 16 (18 Traps) | Ini +3 | Per +9 (+11 Traps)(Alert to Sound When Asleep - Sleep DC Halved)

"While by water would seem the way of less obstacles as none of us is a trained seaman it may make sense to approach via land.

Though I will certainly go with whatever the rest of the group decides as you have been a cohesive unit since before my arrival".

"I am inclined to agree," Dereje replies, having not considered that reaching their destination by land is possible. "Are there any notable threats we should be aware of?"

"I think I've had enough of the sea for just now," Lawdrak agrees when the overland route is suggested.

"Do we have enough funds for horses?"

Grand Lodge

Amivor speaks up, saying, "The shoreline by where he is pretty damned rocky. Don't know if horses would do much for you."

"So it seems we are best on foot, then. We should lay in enough provisions to be out for several days," suggests Hana. "Though I doubt that this backward province has rice-cakes."

"Hard tack should do well enough Mizu, not as tasty I would wager as your rice cakes having never had them but tack will keep us alive.

I am happy to take the point though my skills at recognizing traps and snares are better served underground or entombed rather than in the jungle..."

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Hana inclines her head at the new team-member, accepting that his use of her formal name is, as politeness demands, an appropriate recognition of their limited level of interaction and thus demonstrating no improper familiarity. A rare breath of courtesy in this strange land.

"Very well, as you say, there are foods with which we can make do. I still have some funds and will make some purchases. I will also buy some rope and a compass, just in case we need such things," she adds.

Grand Lodge

After a few last-minute purchases, the group heads north out of town toward the Pallid Bluffs. Your trip is largely uneventful as you reach the bluffs by late afternoon.

Jagged seaside cliffs of pale limestone tower over the rocky shore. Gulls weave overhead in the updraft, while from below rise the deafening echoes of the rolling surf as it beats against the rocks.

Your best guess would tell you that the cliff face is around 300 feet tall, although waters around it are relatively shallow. Looking at the terrain, you see that rocks and sand will make for uneasy footing.

What would you like to do?

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Hana pauses at the base of the cliff and looks up, then down.

"We don't know which way to go to find our contact, do we," she says.

"I presume up. Unlikely to be underwater."

"Who is the best climber among us?"

Tiefling Unchained Rogue 5 | HP = 30 | AC 15 | F +2 R +7 W +2 | CMD 16 (18 Traps) | Ini +3 | Per +9 (+11 Traps)(Alert to Sound When Asleep - Sleep DC Halved)

"I am agree, let's explore up first as that will give us a better vantage point to look around.

I am a fair climber. I have 50' of rope. I could scale the cliff and tie together all of our ropes, assuming we have enough to reach down here, to assist the rest of you climbing.

Even if we only have enough rope to assist for the top 100' to 200' that is better than no assistance at all".

Male Human Paladin 4/Gunslinger 1 | HP 43/43 | AC 18, T 14, FF 14 | Fort +10, Ref +10, Will +7 | CMD 18 | Init +5 | Perception +6 | Grit 3/3 | LoH 4/4

"I hope you know how to tie a good knot," Dereje says wryly, eyeing the tall cliff up and down. "This Nkechi fellow lives in a cave, yes? Perhaps we should travel along the coastline first, see if we can spot where his home."

Human (Kellid) Saurian Shaman Druid 5 ac (16/11/16) Init+0 Percep+10 fort+6,Rfx+2, Will+9 hp 33 of 33

Lawdrak shrugs. "I'm not a bad climber. A bit better if I take off my armor. But I agree - let's walk along a bit and see if we can spot a cave."

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"Agreed," says Hana.

DM, sounds like the party is searching the area for a cave, including possibly one somewhere up or down on the cliff-face.

Grand Lodge

DM Rolls:

Dereje Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Estietre Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Hana Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Lawdrak Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
Savras Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

Looking around the cliffside area, both Savras and Lawdrak notice what would appear to be a cave opening about two-thirds the way up the cliffside.

An inspection of the area tells you that to get to the easiest route up the cliffside you would have to travel out about fifty feet onto slippery rocks before beginning your ascent. You could try climbing up from where you are, but the climb would be significantly more treacherous.

What would you like to do, and who is doing it?

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Once the route up on the rocks is pointed out, Hana says, "I can probably do that - I'm a pretty fair climber, even on slippery ground, and if I fall I can just dive for the water."

I have a +3 Climb check in my armor, and when moving along or climbing a wet surface I get +2 thanks to my Slippery Step trait.

Tiefling Unchained Rogue 5 | HP = 30 | AC 15 | F +2 R +7 W +2 | CMD 16 (18 Traps) | Ini +3 | Per +9 (+11 Traps)(Alert to Sound When Asleep - Sleep DC Halved)

Savras nods to Mizu, "Sounds good. Be careful.

Here, take my silk rope, there should be something there to tie it off to within.

I have a grappling hook too if you feel comfortable enough to carry that".

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Hana nods and accepts the accessories from Savras, then edges out onto the damp rocks.

DM, is this an Acrobatics check, or just a Climb check?

Grand Lodge

That depends on where you'd like to start climbing. You can climb from where you are at a higher difficulty or you can go out to the spot that looks like the easiest climb I will need 3 acrobatics checks prior to climbing at a lower difficulty.

Grand Lodge

Bump.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

This should be funny, with my bad dice luck.

Acrobatics, slippery step trait: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 1 + 2 = 18
Acrobatics, slippery step trait: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 1 + 2 = 14
Acrobatics, slippery step trait: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 2 = 5

Grand Lodge

Hana makes her way out toward what has been determined the easiest path to climb, but at the last second, she slips from the rocks and into the water. Not a real concern for the undine samurai-ko, but in the process, it appears she has managed to disturb a pair of giant crabs.

DM Rolls:

Dereje Init: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Estietre Init: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
