Richard Holysmith |
Richard continues singing as he draws and throws a vial of holy water.
Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 3 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 3 + 2 + 2 = 18
Holy Water vs Evil Outsiders: 2d4 ⇒ (2, 4) = 6
"Die monster! You don't belong in this world!"
Mera Wist-Thrune |
Mera looks over at Richard and pats his shoulder. ”Aww, that was cute. I took care of it already sweetie.”
Smiling she asks ”Now be a dear and pull out that jug of wine from your pack from me. I’m absolutely dying of thirst over here.”
Richard Holysmith |
"Bah!" Richard stows his holy water. "I always wanted to say that, too."
Tal Bernard Mainz |
Tal looks greatful as the healing energies wash over him from Edric. Thank you my good man. I quite appreciate that. Now that that unpleasantness is over perhaps we can get to work on moving this desk while Mera relaxes and Richard plays the dutiful suitor. Tal smiles conspiratorially with Edric as he says so but inwardly Tal is ecstatic that hopefully Mera has someone else to dote upon.
Still planning that we can hit the DC break as mentioned above with Tal taking an enlarge potion spell.
Edric 'Godly' |
Mera sniffs the air as Edric's magic fills the room. She spins away from the dying animal to face the cleric. "Tell me. Is that lavender? I've never felt the warm embrace of a God to be accompanied by such a beautiful scent."
Mera spins around Edric, circling him slowly, smelling the air. "This is some form of trickery, is it not? This is not natural." she asks in the form of a statement.
Edric applauds politely as Mera turns her attention back to him, although his expression is slightly cautious. "Roses I believe, Lady Mera. As to whether it is trickery... my power is granted by the Everbloom, it is her magic and will not mine. So if you consider it trickery than perhaps you should take it up with her?" He says with gentle levity before turning his attention to Tal.
"Indeed Tal, let me see what I can do."
Mera Wist-Thrune |
When Edric tells her it is roses, she snaps her fingers. "Roses, of course! How could I have missed that. I only ask because my curative magic does not smell of beautiful flowers, only dried blood."
Mera takes Tal's bait as she collapses into a nearby chair and turns to address Richard. Crossing her legs and raising an eyebrow she leans in and whispers conspiratorially to him "Is this true Richard? Do you wish to be my dutiful suitor?"
Richard Holysmith |
Richard absorbs the attention like a dry sponge. "There are many advantages to you, Mera. Your willpower is forceful. Your silver tongue has saved us from many altercations. And I am quite jealous at your ability to perform. Everyone- and I do mean everyone- has wondered how to get your attention. Maybe I'm the lucky winner."
Bluff: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19
Richard decides to play along for now and keep her occupied.
She's more of a healthy competitor when it comes to performance, though.
Mera Wist-Thrune |
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (12) + 19 = 31
Mera clucks her tongue at Richards response, listening to his words and reading his body language at the same time. She tilts her head slightly to one side while he speaks, like an animal that hears a strange sound and doesn't know how to place it.
Hmmm." she mutters, thinking how to respond. She uncrosses her legs slowly and rises to her feet, straightening her clothes as she does so. She purrs "Those are some of the advantages to me, though there are many others."
She leans in to his ear and lowers her voice, whispering "Maybe you are the lucky winner then? Maybe you just need a partner to show you how it's done? Private lessons then?" Hmmm? Let's find an alley cat to keep your pesky feather friend busy and we can discuss performances at a greater length.
Standing back up straight, she looks over at Tal and Edric pushing the furniture around and pats Richard's rear end twice. When he turns to look at her, she is walking backwards to the others and winks at the duettist before turning around to rejoin Tal and Edric. "What say you boys? Done with the heavy lifting yet?"
Whether she was serious or playing Richard for the fool, it's difficult to tell with that silver tongue of hers. Either way, her words are convincing and leave a lasting impression that makes you wonder the possibilities.
The look she shoots to Tal when she's done talking to Richard says it all: He's the one she wants.
Bluff: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (13) + 19 = 32
Sherix |
Sherix wishes she could facepalm right now. Richard is falling for Mera's plan like a ton of bricks.

"Oh joy. Another level." Richard groans. "I'll cast a light upon my amulet, so we can see." He casts the magic spell.
"After you, Tal."
Tal Bernard Mainz |
With the light spell active so he can see Tal moves on down the passageway wondering what else is in store for them.

Three separate layers of huge vault doors of stone once barred the way down this massive dark hall. Each has been forced apart by what looks to be the pounding of a thousand blows—the doors now hang askew on their hinges. Just north of the door are large piles of rubble on which numerous mirrors have been affixed, their reflective surfaces aiming to the north end of the hall. As you reach the bottom of the four figures with fangs stand waiting for you.

Richard locks eyes with the fanged creatures.

"Vampires. Weak vampires, but it's more than enough."
What are their weaknesses? Any Damage Resistance?
Mera Wist-Thrune |
Staring at the vampires, Mera stutters a half step, unsure if she should proceed.
Knowledge Religion: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Unsure what these creatures are, she is not relieved when Richard calls out vampires. Glaive in hand, Mera's eyes twinkle as she fails to throw off the domination spell, stopping her advancement to the blood suckers.
Tal Bernard Mainz |
will save 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 5 + 2 = 20 Whew
Tal feels the gaze placed upon him by the spawn. Thankfully he was too focused on eliminating any threat for them to affect him. As it was Tal just grinned and gripped his sword. Come on you blasted spawn. Lets get this over with. I have a date I need to get to.
Mera Wist-Thrune |
I'm so glad we all made that save >.>
Tal Bernard Mainz |
Uh huh...here comes out the glaive again.
Mera Wist-Thrune |
It’s not my fault that our GM wants to kill you through me!
Richard Holysmith |
"These vampires like to dominate your mind, your very thoughts. They will make you kill your friends and then not resist as they feed off of your blood. Hold strong, hold fast, friends!" Richard cheers, and is glad to see Edric and Tal taunt the undead.
He feels like he forgot someone, though...
DM RichD |
Round 1
The spawn hisses when Tal taunts them and tries to dominate him.
DC14 Will save
Up Next: Edric & Richard
Yes I do like when Mera tries to kill the party in her boozy, flirtatious way! :D
Richard Holysmith |
"I don't suppose you can resurrect people, Edric?" Richard chuckles. "A Raise Dead spell would destroy these things instantly. Holy water and healing magicks will burn their undead flesh. And use a silver weapon if you have one."
He pulls out his Magic Circle against Evil . "Edric, you may find this scroll useful. It will take too long for me to activate it."
He points heroically at the undead and acts. "Die monsters! You don't belong in this world!"
Bardic Performance applies a +2 to attack and damage. Richard doesn't know about Mera and Tal, so they will take advantage of the song. This round, anyway.
Sherix |
Sherix flies down and grabs one of the vials of holy water off his belt. "Undead vampires! Back to dust you go!"
Mera Wist-Thrune |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Do you have a magic circle against charmed bards with big polearms?
Tal Bernard Mainz |
will save 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 5 + 2 = 26
Tal laughs again at the pathetic attempt to coerce him into sparing the creatures before him. Bah, who cares about raise dead spells or silver or holy water. Just let me get close enough and my sword will work just as well. Although, Tal thought introspectively, a silver longsword would do even better against these things. Then again I doubt I would be able to afford anything like that at the moment with Lily renovating the 'House'
Mera Wist-Thrune |
Mera spit-shines her glaive, getting ready for bard-tar-tar. ”Richard dear, are you ready for some up close and personal attention?”
Edric 'Godly' |
Edric takes the scroll from Richard and reads aloud in a clear and booming voice. "Stay close to Richard." He concludes as the bard begins to shine. "The spell will protect you and I have focused it on him."
Magic Circle vs Evil centred on Richard, should affect all of us. Mera gets another will save against the domination effect...
Mera Wist-Thrune |
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 Sorry Richard, the Gods want this to happen.
Throughout the conversation between the rest of her party, Mera remains silent as evil thoughts begin to fill her mind. Anvengen's Edge rejoices at the thought of slicing open her companions and spreading their blood across the walls.
Tal Bernard Mainz |
Needing to stay within the range of the spell Tal decides to take the opportunity to quaff a potion of enlarge and be ready for the attacks coming at him from the vampire spawn.
+1 keen longsword inspired heroism1d20 + 12 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 12 + 2 + 2 = 27 for 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (3, 1) + 9 = 13
Mera Wist-Thrune |
Stryx hasn't posted in six months, it might be time to take him out of the party. Maybe he got le tired and is sleeping upstairs on that bed that Mera wanted to rest on?
Mera silently hefts her glaive into her hand and tightens her grip, her mind currently not of her own control. She eyes her companions while the voice in her head tells her what she must do. Anvengen's Edge purrs Yessssssssss! I shall grant you my blessing, SLAY HIM! Divine Favor 2/3
Mera suddenly pivots and turns towards Edric, slams her vicious blade down into his back! As the weapon cuts through flesh, the glaive screams in Mera's head MORE! MORE! Make them all bleeeeeeeed!
Attack Edric, Divine Favor: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 6 + 1 = 20
Damage: 1d10 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 1 = 8
Mera stares at Edric with a blank expression, no fury or malice evident on her face.
Does Mera get the benefit of Richard's inspire courage?! I am supposing not, but maybe? If so add +2! :)
Richard Holysmith |
Damn, they can just spam dominate? Glad I brought this scroll. Remember you get a +2 bonus, Tal. Also, from the Protection from Evil description:
If successful, such effects are suppressed for the duration of this spell. The effects resume when the duration of this spell expires. While under the effects of this spell, the target is immune to any new attempts to possess or exercise mental control over the target.
"Everyone, stay close! We fight as one!"
Tal Bernard Mainz |
Will save 1d20 + 5 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 5 + 2 + 2 = 10
Tal feels the power of the vampires threaten to overwhelm him. However it seems that he retained his own mind as long as he stayed in the protective circle.
Edric 'Godly' |
With his attention on the vampire spawn Edric in uncomfortably surprised by a glaive to the back!
"Mera!" He yells, "Tal, help!"
Unfortunately he is not best equipped to deal with a glaive wielding maniac at close range and steps back past Richard, before giving the vampires something to think about.
