Unless anyone else wants to, Grodar will remove the armour and take the hammer from the skeleton.

Grodar first grabs the hammer to make it easier to remove the armour. As soon as he lifts it, the hammer shrinks to the proper size for him to wield it, and the word "AGRIMMOSH" appears along the haft in Giantish runes AKA All-Caps.

Grodar:
Grodar sees visions of the powers of the hammer: twice-enchanted, it can strike with the force of a larger weapon and aids in bull-rush attempts (Impact special ability). It obviously re-sizes for the wielder. It can also be used once/day (as a full-round action) to cast heightened enlarge person, which lasts for 20 minutes. If it critically hits a humanoid, they shrink by one size (DC 23 Fort negates).
He also sees the hammer being used on an anvil with Minderhal's symbol on it, and that doing so would unlock even greater powers.

When he removes the armour later, it also shrinks to his size.

Correct, it is a +2 warhammer. However, the impact ability raises the damage to 2d6 (+2). Note that Grodar is not normally proficient with warhammers (though it is a Combat feat). Actually, the only one currently in the party who is proficient is Giles.

Eldan picks up the locket and says, “I wonder if I can learn about the person this locket is already attuned to,” and then dons the locket, attempting to activate it.

Male Elder GM

Eldan:
On further examination, Eldan realizes that both lockets need to be worn by people with an existing relationship, and to re-attune them takes 24 hours. That said, his vast intelligence wonders how this half-orc fits in with everything else they have been investigating. Wasn't there an earlier clue involving lovers?

Forging ahead, but people may still add information if they wish.

Grodar's eyes glaze over for a moment as he grabs Agrimmosh, but he soon returns to himself.

The group gathers as much loot as they can carry, and depart the burial chamber.

Damon Vancaskerkin leads them out the way he came, and the heroes see the bodies of several giant spiders and a few multi-legged birds.

As they return to the surface, Damon says, "I'll make sure that any further salvage gets back to you, assuming it doesn't belong to any citizens of Trunau. Kurst said for you to rest as well as you can, then meet with him tomorrow morning."

Grodar, Giles, Zigil, Eldan, and Slei are ushered in to see Kurst, where Zepfina and Tarakona are already waiting.

Kurst begins.
"I wanted to get a final report on your investigation, but there are a couple of important items that you should first be made aware of."

"Among our other losses, we are mourning the death of Sergeant Omast Frum. Apparently he came across some looters in the Inner Quarter, and took them on alone in an effort to protect the hospital area which had been set up. I know you had worked with him a few times recently, so I thought you should be informed."
"There is talk of some sort of monument in his memory being placed at the site of the battle where you all protected the Inner Quarter."

"In another vein, I know you had looked into the mysterious white crosses around town. It appears they were set up as targets, as most of them were hit by boulders: the ones at the Barterstone, Sanctuary, and the South Tower were all hit several times. The one on the floor of the Commons was not hit, fortunately. And you explored the tomb that lay beyond the one at Hopespring."

"Now, before you update me on your latest discoveries, I thought I'd review what you've already passed on."
"It appears that my brother Rodrik was murdered because he had been investigating the Plague House. There was apparently a brown-haired man involved somehow with the murder."
"A half-orc named Daktani was meeting at Plague House with a flood troll, under the orders of a blond, tattooed half-orc named Skreed."
"Apparently, they were infiltrating Trunau in preparation for the attack."
"During your investigation, you were attacked by some wolves which had been smuggled in to town, and some assassins from Freedom Town who'd been hired by a tattooed half-orc,"

"Did your adventures in the tomb lead to any more conclusions?"

Note: Eldan summarized your early investigation here. Your interrogation of the assassins was here. And you talked to Daktani here.

“Sergeant Frum, you will be missed,” Eldan says, “I am saddened to hear of his passing. He was a good man, and if the people want to erect a monument in his honour and those that fell in the raids, well I think that is a good idea.”

After a brief moment of silence, Eldan continues, “There was a burial chamber for a giant with a large hammer that seems to register as an artifact named Agrimmosh. I believe he was tied to the old Twisted Hearts tribe from about 100 years ago. They were seeking this chamber for the hammer and another item, a rock. This rock is part of a set, both rocks together show directions to a loction they want to raid.”

“Before we discovered this, we were ambushed by the blonde half-orc with a facial tattoo, named Skreed. He is dead now. His tattoo allowed him to disguise himself for a time. I think this is how he was able to murder your brother and then slip out again.”

Giles wipes away a tear.

Male Elder GM

"Is everything now tied up? Do we have more to fear from the Twisted Hearts? Are there more foes to worry about? What about the brown-haired man?"

Male Elf Wizard Lvl: 4 HP: 17 AC: 13/10/13 F: 1 R: 4 W: 7 Init: 4 Percep: 6

“Well, Skreed is dead, but he was comunicating with a woman named Melira whom I believe he has a romantic relationship with based on the magical locket he had in his possession. She may seek to get revenge for his death. Also, they were there for the hammer and the rock specifically so will likely try again especially when you consider they have the other half of the map.”

I don’t remember the brown hair dude. Someone else chime in if you remember.

Male Elder GM

The brown-haired man was described by Cham, owner of Ramblehouse. He bribed her to not leave a name. HE was the lover of Melira, because found a letter to her (Note 1) in his room.

Male Elder GM

"Thanks again for all of your help. If you don't mind, I'd like to borrow all of the pieces of evidence you have found and show them to Halgra and the council. I will speak with you soon."

For the party members are treated like heroes by the good folk of Trunau. Other people keep buying their drinks, food, and even lodging, and they are constantly running in to people who they saved directly or indirectly. They are even given a discount on any items they wish to purchase at the various shops in town.

Everyone:
I don't know if anybody kept a treasure list. I'll try to compile a list of things you found in the next few days, if necessary.
In general, you may purchase items under 1,000 gp value in town (roll a d100, 75 or less means it's available). You get a 10% discount for your heroics.
Other items in town include (with full value):
+1 heavy steel shield 1170 gp
+1 light crossbow 2335 gp
cowardly crouching cloak 1800 gp
oil of shillelagh 50 gp
+1 ring of protection 2000 gp
scroll of divine power 700 gp
scroll of magic weapon 25 gp
wand of magic missile (50 charges, CL 1) 750 gp
+2 longsword 8315 gp
potion of resist energy (fire) 300 gp

About 4 days after the battle, there is a ceremony commemorating the loss of Sergeant Frum, and the heroes are asked to say a few words. Feel free.

Male Elder GM

Ah! I forgot Zigil had the treasure list on his character page. You may all want to look at it and see if there is stuff that's good for your character. I'm still going through to double-check everything.

I will put the scroll of Barkskin and Ghostbane dirge back and take the scrolls of knock, hold portal, grease, summon monster 1, phantasmal killer, and tongues. If no one wants the pearl of power I will take that too but I would prefer the scrolls so no worries.

Male Elder GM

Updated the list. Note that there is stuff on the Discussion Thread again.

I've been discussing with Neil the idea of taking a level or two of paladin. Zigil has been trying to fight at the front and but doesn't really have the AC. And I think we could use a damage sponge at the front. If that's okay, I would really like to take Uskroth's armor and one of the better melee weapons. Can discuss on the discussion page.

Has everyone spoken up for everything they want?

Note that the only magical weapons for sale in Trunau are the ones I mentioned in the spoiler above: a +1 light crossbow (2335 gp), and a +2 longsword (8315 gp). However, there are likely to be masterwork weapons available, and you saved the life of the town wizard...

Hi all. I am joining this group and don't yet have a character. I was going to build a Druid but am flaming out due to a complete lack of ever having played a Druid before. I was thinking I could make the damage sponge you are referring to. I would be more than happy to make a front line fighter type. That way the cleric can retain the better cleric progression...Thoughts?

Sovereign Court

In theory at least, Giles, Slei and Grodar are all front line fighter classes. I have dumped my one level of gunslinger and focused more on damage dealing. I think a Druid could easily work. I also think people should play what they want and we will just cope with whatever we are missing.

Note that although I am a ranger I have traded in spell casting capability for the ability to disarm traps and pick locks. So I can't do healing, even with the aid of a wand.

Slick, I think you should do whatever you will enjoy playing the most. If you go druid, then it adds healing to the party, which makes us less dependent on the cleric.

I would enjoy being a Cleric/Paladin multiclass. I haven't done that before. Two levels of paladin gives me smite, lay on hands, and some saving throw bonuses, as well as better armor (and that half-plate appeals to me) and wider range of weapons.

If you prefer to do a tank, then I'm okay with sticking to the cleric progression. I'm happy either way.

I've decided to take a cleric level, and remain a support character, regarendless of whether "...Slick" ends up choosing a druid or a tank. If no one can use the armor, I suggest we keep it at least for a while, in case someone takes a feat for it.
