Kyrie nods at Zinnath's suggestion and chided herself for not thinking of it first. The tiny dragon was the best scout she had ever seen, and it was a good idea to let him do what he was good at.

Fezzik nods in agreement to Bat's and Zinnath's comments. "Maybe split up? I block escape route and Enoby uses her bow while rest try to flush them out," he says looking around for confirmation.

Enoby purses her lips.

"A sound strategy, Fezzik. As we posess time to prepare, I can magic my bow to make it more deadly as well."

Bataleigha tries to approach the door as silently as possible. Once she reaches it, she checks things out, listening and then scanning for traps.

Fezzik moves to be able to attack anyone who comes out of the secret door with his new great sword. I'm assuming it's near the rubble at the corner

Campaign maps: Jade Regent | Kingmaker | The Temple of Elemental Evil

The rubble isn't actually secret; it's just an area of collapsed wall. The secret door in that wall has a second staircase down to another part of the dungeon, but it looked like it just went into a little closet so you guys never really used it much.

Zinnath flits ahead and quietly hides behind a chunk of the ruined wall.

Zinnath:
Crammed in the room are a total of nine men and women, with a small campfire in the wreckage of what used to pass for a fireplace. They have a varied assortment of weapons and armor, all of dubious but serviceable quality. They are a bit ragged and dirty, clearly "on the jagged edge" sorts. At the moment they seem to be morosely awaiting whatever gruel is cooking over the fire in a large metal pot. Conversation is limited to occasional bits of small talk.

Moving up to the door next to Bat, Deko looked between the woman and the door before asking, "Deko break door now? Go punch bad guy?"

Enoby moves into position not too far from Fezzik. She knocks an arrow and draws a bead on the opening, ready to fire at the first ne'er-do-well that attempts to flee.

Enoby readies an attack for the first person who attempts to escape through the collapsed wall.

And here's the attack roll, just to save time if it triggers:

Short Bow(+Point Blank Shot): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Bat gives Deko an amused look before mouthing the words "Turn the knob first?" and pantomiming turning a doorknob. Then she gives Deko a nod.

Campaign maps: Jade Regent | Kingmaker | The Temple of Elemental Evil

I'll need Stealth checks from Deko, Fezzik, and Enoby - basically to see if they notice you coming in the front, or out at the back.

Female Drow Bard (Arrowsong Minstrel) 2 | HP [15/15] | AC 15, Touch 13, Flat-Footed 12 | Fort +1, Ref +6, Will +3 (+5 vs. Enchant) | Darkvision 120', Light Blindness, Perception +7 | Initiative +4 | Bluff +9, Diplomacy +3 (untrained), Intimidate +3 (untrained)

Sneaky Sneaky!: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14

Also, I forgot about Enoby's Light Blindness, so she's Dazzled right now (unless there's enough tree coverage in this area to create a significant amount of shade). As such, that readied attack at the top is at a -1, for a total attack roll of 14.

The Party: "There are several claws worth of bipeds in here, humans it seems. They have weapons, but they seem to be not too well fed or clothed. They might be ruffians, or they might be refugees. What do you want me to do? I can try speaking with one of them from hiding?"

As Fezzik is stepping across the water, he hears Zinnath's voice in his head and looks up to see where he is. Distracted, he doesn't watch where he is stepping and his weight causes a pumpkin-sized rock to shift and splash loudly in the water. He grimaces as he realizes he has blown their element of surprise.

Walking on tip-toes to try and be more stealthy, Deko none-the-less managed to step on every loose stone and dry twig in his path.

It doesn't seem so on the map, but I was peering in over/through the broken wall, so I'd have thought I was closer?

I'm both stealthed and have initiative, and I'm hoping I'm within 30' of one of these bipeds.

I will cast snowball, which should also gain sneak attack damage, against the brigand nearest me...

Snowball To Hit: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21 vs touch
Snowball Damage: 2d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (1, 1) + (3) = 5 DC 14 Fort or staggered for 1 round

So that's disappointing!

And then I will move down along the wall and hopefully gain total concealment.

I don't know where you wanted to be, that was up to you. Zinnath's stealth score is good enough that as long as he has concealment he can easily get pretty close - so you probably couldn't actually enter the room without being seen, but you could be anywhere along the edge of the broken wall.

Just in case we're waiting for me. I actually moved myself up to the wall. From where I was able to see the bad guys, is where I fired my snowball and then I dropped down out of sight.

Campaign maps: Jade Regent | Kingmaker | The Temple of Elemental Evil

Super-busy and not-great weekend, sorry 'bout that.

The brigands are quick to respond to the perceived intrusion.

"Cover the door and the back wall!" shouts the man in chain armor (#1).

One with a halberd (#4) moves to cover the door. Another with a voulge (#9) moves to cover the entrance at the southeast side of the rubble.

"I can't see the spellcaster!" shouts one with a crossbow (#8), obviously responding to the spell that Zinnath fired in.

The other brigands raise their weapons and prepare to defend themselves. They are taking readied actions.

Rest of the party up for round 1! Remember that opening a door is a move action.

Sigh! Looks like Bat's before Deko in Initiative Order, so...I guess she'll eat a readied action or two before Deko runs in and avenges her. ;)

Bataleigha nods to Deko, takes a deep breath, and then throws the door open. Seeing a brigand nearby, she takes a step forward, swinging her mace with evil-smashing intent.

"Friends...ATTACK!" Bat shouts fiercely as a javelin opens a bloody line along the right side of her neck.

And thank you all for letting me have this magical shield.... she thinks to herself. Then, realizing she can broadcast her thoughts to a certain whitish dragon-like creature, she mentally projects: Eight bandits...a variety of weapons. A little help, please!

Campaign maps: Jade Regent | Kingmaker | The Temple of Elemental Evil

Well, the next closest would be #2 (ring mail, shield, longsword). So let's see...

Kyrie's unerring force bolts crash into the brigand and send rings of his mail scattering. The powerful impact of the bolts knocks the air out of him and sends him to the floor, seated involuntarily.

Hearing the commotion, Enoby grimaces as she realizes there'd be no ferreting these footpads from their fortifications.

Enoby advances, and takes a shot at the bandit covering the southeast entrance.

I included the Intimidate roll as just a general idea of how scary Enoby managed to sound. "Drop your weapons or die" didn't really seem to fall into any of the official uses of Intimidate in the rules. Feel free to ignore the roll as such. Enoby still makes the threat, however.

Campaign maps: Jade Regent | Kingmaker | The Temple of Elemental Evil

The combined attacks of Deko and Kyrie mutilate the brigand south of Deko (#3).

The numbers are on the nameplates that include their equipment line. When you drop a bandit I turn those off because it isn't that relevant any more (unless you wanted to go for a crossbow in the middle of combat or something). Right now only #1 should have a nameplate.

Bat swings on the one south of her (#5) but misses. Fezzik's ray hits, though, and sends the brigand to the ground with a face full of frost.

The last man standing (#1) throws his sword on the ground and says, "That's it! I've had enough! You've beaten all my boys anyway!"

For defeating the brigands, the party earns 247 xp each.

The brigand scowls and puts his hands behind his head. "I guess it's gonna be the rope, eh? Well, you done us good and proper," he says unhappily.
