The acolyte is on the other side of the fallen fighter from you, and with the fighter beginning to regain consciousness stepping over him is contraindicated. I'll take your attack against the sorcerer next to you.

I mistook one for the other.

Attack of opportunity vs warrior: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25 I take it I don't get the prone bonus when he's in the act of standing up?
damage: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

"DIE." Xukong's voice is like a coffin lid sculpted from ice.

I actually think you do, as standing up is what provoked, and the AoO interrupts (and happens just before) the action that provoked it.

... though in this case, it doesn't really matter. :)

As the Aspis fighter struggles to his feet, Kiddrik lands a glancing blow on him. Then Xukong brings its sword down on the man, who obligingly falls down and begins to bleed to death.

I'm going to call it here. The only one left up is the acolyte, who's at 4/5 HP and AC 17. He could channel to heal the other two, but it'd take multiple channels and you won't let him have the time.

Despite the noise from the shrieker and your fighting, no one comes by the warehouse to see what's happening. It's almost as if someone has bought off the guards. After a few more hours, Magali Delroya arrives with a few muscular and taciturn laborers and a couple of wagons. She shakes her head slightly on seeing the crate stack that was crushed when one of the attackers fell on it while sliding down the rope, but otherwise seems relieved that the damage isn't worse. "You did well with the Kortos team. That should help foment some bad blood between them and Aspis. We'll take it from here--I think Ambrus will want to talk to you. And I'd like my badge back; for the moment, anyway." She turns away to direct the laborers she brought, but stops and looks back at you. "Did you get a sample of whip and Laszo's notes?"

"Yes, we did. Thanks for keeping the guards away just now"

Karayan removes the badge from his pouch and hands it over "You don't want to trade it for a wayfinder?"

She smiles as she takes back the badge, more warmly than you've seen her before. "You've impressed me--I'll be talking to Ambrus about that. And you did it all without needing this, so I can return it to Lord Avid." She holds up a piece of parchment, a carte blanche from the ruler of the town of Diobel.

And, in fact, she is with Ambrus Valsin when you meet with him on your return to Absalom. She says nothing while the Venture-Captain offers his personal thanks and congratulations on a job well done. He notes that Lord Avid was quite pleased that you were able to succeed without the writ, and Avid has spoken well of your discretion to his peers--the nobility of the Isle of Kortos. The Aspis Consortium has been dealt a major blow; though this may be less important to some of you, you've also prevented a great deal of suffering across the Inner Sea region. He adds that you succeeded while embodying the best qualities of the Society. "--and I'm not the only one who noticed." Delroya nods at this with a smile, seeming at home in the setting.

And that's that. Thank you all for playing, and I'll set this inactive as soon as everyone acknowledges receipt of their chronicle sheets. I'm going to be taking a short break from running anything new, but at some point in the next month or two I'm planning on running The Dragon's Demand in campaign mode. I've got one or two interested parties already, and if any of you might want to play let me know.

"WHO ELSE KNOWS THIS, SIR?" says Muusa, not really hearing Valsin too well.

It takes more than an hour to get to Valsin, so Muusa's hearing has recovered.
