Rest of round 2 ____________________

Karthak Ironbreaker_____
Activated Judgement of destruction as a swift action and attack on dretch 03
Again, Karthak reached around the hard corner to strike the next Dretch. His axe hit true and bit deep, but it’s still alive and kicking.

Jokum of the Breakbones_____
Jokum doesn't know exactly what this cloud is, but he gasps and staggers as he breathes it in. "Arthas...big undead...behind us..." he gasps.
Ready an action: if Arthas moves to engage the undead, Jokum will step up to engage the dretch and hold the line.

Voren the Outsider_____
Standard Action: Use Evil Eye hex on Jeslyn. Targeting Saving Throws. -2 penalty for 6 rounds. Will Save DC 15 reduces this to 1 round.
Will save: 1d20 + 6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 6 + 2 + 2 = 24

Arthas Sword of Ragathiel_____
Arthas hazards a glance rearward.
"You have got to be kidding me---oh for the love of!"
Angered he points Radiance at the caster.
"I call down HIS anger upon you, for it is righteous and terrible as it is just."
She just smirks and exaggerates a surprised look behind you. Arthas declares Smite Evil on the priestess.
Arthas quickly heals himself (8) after the surprisingly deadly attack upon him by the dretches.

Danua_____
Danua bites a curse as she is bitten again and soon after she is biting back bile as the dretches summon up hellish fart gas to annoy her. "Cowar-! Hurp" She covers her mouth and holds the line hoping the undead stomping up behind them wouldn't get a swing in...

Round 3______________________
Gleefully frenzied, the dretches continued their attacks.
Dretch 2 Claw attack 1 vs Danua: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 for a possible 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 damage.
Dretch 2 Claw attack 2 vs Danua: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 for a possible 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 damage.
Dretch 2 Bite attack vs Danua: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24 for a possible 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 damage.
Dretch 3 Claw attack 1 vs Arthas: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18 for a possible 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 damage.
Dretch 3 Claw attack 2 vs Arthas: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18 for a possible 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 damage.
Dretch 3 Bite attack vs Arthas: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 for a possible 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 damage.
Dretch 4 starts casting a spell.

Spellcraft DC11:
It’s trying to summon another Dretch.

The zombie minotaur staggered forward until it was directly behind Voren.
It raised its gigantic fists…

TACTICAL SITUATION

Nauseated: Creatures with the nauseated condition experience stomach distress. Nauseated creatures are unable to attack, cast spells, concentrate on spells, or do anything else requiring attention. The only action such a character can take is a single move actions per turn.

Danua: I would say yes at -2.

"It's...summoning its kin!" Jokum chokes, pointing to the dretch in the back of the herd. "Why can't I...see properly through this lousy..."

Not much else I can dooooo...

Male Tiefling Hedge Witch 6/Archmage 1 | AC 15/12/13 | hp: 40/51 | F +5, R +6, W +8 (+2 vs death/insanity/confusion) | CMD 15 (17 with m.o.v) | Init +6 | Perc +1 | darkvision 60ft | SM +1 | receiving healing: +2 hit points/die rolled | giving healing: +1 point

Fortitude (since I'm still in the cloud): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Oh, no!

Voren coughs as the cloud begins to fill his lungs. He hears the stomping and turns to the sight of the undead minotaur looming over him. His eyes widen in fear. "Guys! It's behind us!" He racks his brain before coming up with a desperate idea. His tail digs into his pocket and pulls out his silver scale. His tail drops it into his hand. He focuses on it. He begins to levitate. He moves 20 feet up.

Okay. So, my plan is to levitate up each turn until I can get out of the cloud and be able to recover without fear of being hit. If the room isn't high enough, then that can change things. Also, if I can't use my scale, then use the action at the bottom.

If my plan doesn't work:
Voren decides to try and move out of the way. He moves past Jokum and Tentak.

Move to G5. I think that's not the best idea. But it helps put some distance.

Also, just curious, is this Jeslyn affected by the cloud?

Again Karthak slashes at the dretch blocking the door with his cold iron waraxe.

Attack roll 01: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19 -> Damage roll: 1d10 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 3 = 7

Attack dretch #3, hope it dies this time

Another bite mark is left in Danua as she slugs the dretch back once more. "This isn't the type of play I enjoy pig... " Letting the dretches through wasn't an option, so she doggedly stood her ground holding the line against the demonic foe.

Hold action

Male

Voren, I don't think you actually need to make a save every round you're in the cloud...I could be wrong, but I think the initial save makes you good.

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Male Tiefling Hedge Witch 6/Archmage 1 | AC 15/12/13 | hp: 40/51 | F +5, R +6, W +8 (+2 vs death/insanity/confusion) | CMD 15 (17 with m.o.v) | Init +6 | Perc +1 | darkvision 60ft | SM +1 | receiving healing: +2 hit points/die rolled | giving healing: +1 point

Well, stinking cloud came up in a different game I'm in and I looked at the spell's rules and it says: "Any creature that succeeds on its save but remains in the cloud must continue to save each round on your turn." So I figure that I'd roll again. It also says that this affects living creatures in the cloud. I bring this up because wouldn't Jeslyn be affected by the cloud as well? But I didn't want to come across as a rules lawyer.

Male Aasimar Ranger (Shapeshifter) 6/Champion 1;

HP 21/63 | AC/T/FF: 18/13/15 | CMD 23 | F +7, R +8, W +3 (+2 vs. evil) | Init +3, Per +10 | Shifter's Blessing Left: 3/7 | MP: 3/5

Gaaaah no you're completely right; I didn't know that about stinking cloud. Well in that case, I'll add to my above action: move out of the cloud! Avoiding an AoO if possible.

Pld7/Grd1 LG, Init +3; HP 95/108 AC 23, t 13, ff 21, Fort +9, Ref +7, Will +8 +2 on saves against insanity or confusion.hard to kill; Immune disease, fear, Senses +6, SM +8 Aura courage (10 ft.)

Rest of Round 3_____________

Nauseated: Creatures with the nauseated condition experience stomach distress. Nauseated creatures are unable to attack, cast spells, concentrate on spells, or do anything else requiring attention. The only action such a character can take is a single move actions per turn.

Jokum of the Breakbones_____
"It's...summoning its kin!" Jokum chokes, pointing to the dretch in the back of the herd. "Why can't I...see properly through this lousy..."

Voren the Outsider_____
Voren coughs as the cloud begins to fill his lungs. He hears the stomping and turns to the sight of the undead minotaur looming over him. His eyes widen in fear. "Guys! It's behind us!"
The levitation trick would not have gotten you out of reach in here. It might have if you were in the Wardstone Chamber
Voren decides to try and move out of the way. He moves past Jokum and Tentak.
Move to G5.
Attracted by the motion, the walking dead minotaur took a swipe at Voren.
greataxe AoO: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24 for a possible 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 1, 5) + 6 = 17 slashing damage.

Also, just curious, is this Jeslyn affected by the cloud?
Not at all. It’s a poison effect, which she’s immune to.

Karthak Ironbreaker_____
Again Karthak slashes at the dretch blocking the door with his cold iron waraxe.
And he hacked the little demon down, even around a doorway.

Danua_____
Another bite mark is left in Danua as she slugs the dretch back once more. "This isn't the type of play I enjoy pig... " Letting the dretches through wasn't an option, so she doggedly stood her ground holding the line against the demonic foe.

Hold action

Jokum of the Breakbones_____

Arthas Sword of Ragathiel_____
"I have marked the priest with my God's Vengeance. Charge forth and to the shard! I will make it to the rear! Go now and do not look back until we have done our duty!"
Arthas moves to the back out of the cloud towards the Minotaur.
And at this moment, the noxious cloud dissipates entirely. It had been weakening all last round, and you start feeling better immediately.

Round 4________________________
Enemies____________
Zombie Minotaur_____
The walking dead powerhouse raised its axe and brought it down on Arthas with horrible power.

Attack roll: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23 -> 1d10 + 3 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 3 = 12

Edit: remember Karthak gave the longsword to Jokum

Yeah, unfortunately I can't find the original reference to it...what kind of longsword was it? Either way, am I still nauseated? Been a couple rounds and I see the cloud is gone...

Jokum, as the cloud disperses, nods to Karthak and makes his way, still retching, toward the undead minotaur. Once there, he sets himself up to distract it so that Arthas can take a swing.

Moving to square H9, which I think provokes an AoO...unless I make the check below! Arthas, if you shift 1 square south we'll be flanking.

Acrobatics to avoid AoO: 1d20 + 3 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 3 - 1 = 18

If I'm no longer nauseated I'll add an attack.

I'm not sure if I can do a swift action if I'm (still) nauseated.

Voren screams as the axe slashes through him. He growls. His tail digs into his pocket and pulls out a wand. It drops the wand in his hand.

If I'm not nauseated anymore, then I'll use it.

Round Actions
Swift Action: Use prehensile tail to draw Wand of Cure Moderate Wounds.
Standard Action (if I'm not nauseated): Use wand on self

Danua retreats from the gas then, moving to engage the undead and leaving Karthak to hold the line against the demons. This time a trail of blood dipped as she moved away, the demons strikes were taking their toll but Danua was no less discouraged as she moved to flank the undead that was striking at Artha. Leaving the cloud of noxious fumes would hopefully allow her to act normally, though she was unsure how long it would take for her body to stop trembling. "So damn... frustrating..." But I will find her again...

Acrobatics to Avoid AoO: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

Move to provide flanking on undead minotaur if possible

rest of Round 4________________

Karthak Ironbreaker_____
Karthak turns briefly towards the others and yells, the dwarf strikes again at the next dretch on the line...
His axe bit deeply into the little demon, but it’s still up and fighting.

Jokum of the Breakbones_____
J: Yeah, unfortunately I can't find the original reference to it...what kind of longsword was it?

Jokum, looking at the sword…:
Your examination and appraisal reveal that it is a Longsword, +1 Evil Outsider Bane. From the note found with it (available in the Campaign Info tab), this used to be Commander Irabeth’s father’s sword before she unwisely sold it.

J: Either way, am I still nauseated? Been a couple rounds and I see the cloud is gone.
A: No. As of right now, no one is nauseated due to the Dretch’s Stinking Cloud.

Moving to square H9
You see the zombie minotaur twitch as if he wanted to backhand you, but you are too quick for it.
If I'm no longer nauseated I'll add an attack.
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15 Hit! for 2d6 + 5 ⇒ (6, 3) + 5 = 14 damage.

Voren the Outsider_____
Voren screams as the axe slashes through him. He growls. His tail digs into his pocket and pulls out a wand. It drops the wand in his hand.
Swift Action: Use prehensile tail to draw Wand of Cure Moderate Wounds.
Standard Action (not nauseated): Use wand on self
Wand of Cure Moderate Wounds (if I'm not nauseated): 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (3, 2) + 2 = 7

Arthas Sword of Ragathiel_____
Smite evil active on the priestess +2AC and +4 damage
"We must get to the shard."
Hit attack makes Radiance easily take a big chunk out of the undead minotaur.

Danua_____
Danua retreats from the gas then, moving to engage the undead and leaving Karthak to hold the line against the demons. This time a trail of blood dipped as she moved away, the demons strikes were taking their toll but Danua was no less discouraged as she moved to flank the undead that was striking at Artha.
[ooc]A single step avoids any chance of AoO, and since she is no longer nauseated, her black blade encourages her to attack.
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27 Critical hit confirmed! The Black Blade deals 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (6, 4) + 10 = 20 slashing damage.

Round 5________________________

Zombie Minotaur_____
The walking dead again raised its axe and brought it down on Arthas.
greataxe attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10 and the axe sinks into the flagstones and gets stuck. The undead tugs at it fruitlessly before letting go and going for Arthas barehanded.

Dretch 2 attacks Karthak.
Dretch 2 Claw attack 1 vs Karthak: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22 for a possible 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 damage.

And the priestess calmly stood behind the little demons, casually spinning her military scythe, awaiting your assault.

"Well struck, Arthas!" Jokum calls. He tosses his greatsword aside and draws the sword Iavdi left with them. "Let's see if I can match it!" He dashes between Arthas and Danua and swings the sword into one of the dretches with a bellow.

Free action: drop greatsword. Move action: move adjacent to Karthak (drawing longsword). Standard: attack dretch #2!

He grins at Voren as the dretch's blood spatters. "Thank you, my friend, by the way!"

And Dretch 2 is simply unzipped by Jokum's sword, falling in several pieces.

Mi Sutoresu flashed in the dim light as Danua stepped back to her previous spot and engaged the dretch between her and the Priestess. She struck out twice, once with a somewhat off kilter attack as she quickly casted a spell before lashing out a second time. This time far more accurately and leaving the dretch with the symbol of Desna magically marked on its body where she struck. Despite her injuries she had not lost her fire. "Just die ugly..."

And the last dretch dies ugly. Twice.

He says in an angry tone and in Abyssal, "आपण आमच्या मार्ग गुन्हेगारीचा उपासना आहेत! प्रवृत्त करेल! मी तुमच्या दृष्टीने आपण लुटणे याद्वारे! कायमचे एक आंधळा स्त्री म्हणून बहकणे! आपल्या शत्रूचा किंवा तुम्ही पूजा केली भुते दिसत!"

Jeslyn_____
She laughes, utterly disdainful of the threat you pose, and confident of her victory.
”Surrender? To the likes of you? You think of me as alone; but my Lord is always with me. As he will be with you, very very soon now.”

Spellcraft DC15:
Close up, you can tell that she has at least a dozen spells laid upon her, dark and powerful. Spells of protection, of enhancement and Necromancy.

Heal check DC15:
She was once an attractive half-elf, but exposure to various Abyssal energies have twisted her limbs and afflicted her with her wasting curse, manifesting as a twisted foot and a deformed, insectoid arm.

Seeing Karthak making for the Wardstone fragment, she spun around and tried to behead Karthak again.

Round 7 continued...

Players take their turn in order of posting. Enemies have already gone.

TACTICAL OVERVIEW
Ten foot squares.

Now that you're close enough, you can see the Wardstone Chamber more clearly.
This circular room’s original purpose is unclear, but now it seems to be a trophy hall of some sort.
A low stone pedestal sits on the floor in the middle of the chamber under a domed ceiling. Atop the pedestal is an iron, barbed cage—and within the cage sits a chunk of softly glowing sacred white stone.

Important question: does she count as an evil outsider for the purpose of game mechanics? Knowledge roll below if needed. It changes Jokum's tactics significantly. :P

Knowledge (Planes): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

Voren notices the spells that are affecting the priestess. "Guys! She has numerous spells on her! Protection spells, enhancement spells, and necromancy spells!"

Heal: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

Voren's medical knowledge allows him to recognize the afflictions on the priestess. "Your limbs. Your wasting curse. Your twisted foot. That insectoid arm. It's because of the Abyssal energies, isn't it? Your once beautiful form has been tainted by the Abyss. Doesn't it hurt? Aren't you in pain? Why are you doing this? You can be redeemed. Please, stop this. Let's talk this out."

Voren decides to use the wand on himself again, healing the wounds even more.

Wand of Cure Moderate Wounds: 2d8 + 4 ⇒ (5, 2) + 4 = 11

I have an idea. Let's try to redeem the priestess. It would be interesting.

Male Tiefling Hedge Witch 6/Archmage 1 | AC 15/12/13 | hp: 40/51 | F +5, R +6, W +8 (+2 vs death/insanity/confusion) | CMD 15 (17 with m.o.v) | Init +6 | Perc +1 | darkvision 60ft | SM +1 | receiving healing: +2 hit points/die rolled | giving healing: +1 point

Subtract 2 from that healing. Used the wrong CL.

Jokum: Despite her twisted appearance, you don't think she's an outsider.

No favored enemy for me then. Oh well! :P

As the dretches fall, Jokum grins ferally. Seeing the inside of the chamber clearly for the first time, he feels a surge of hope. "Finish this, Karthak! Leave her to us!" Dropping his longsword, he draws his bow and stalks into the room, eyeing Jeslyn but staying out of reach of her scythe.

"You waste your breath and your words, Voren," he says grimly. "Those who have given themselves over to demons know nothing of beauty--nor of friendship, love, nor honor. If you surrender, perhaps we can give you a holy death in what we have set out to do--but I expect no such wisdom from you. So this is all I have to offer! Karthak! Go now!" As he finishes speaking, he seizes one of the white-fletched arrows the group discovered downstairs and aims it at her!

Move: into room to 20' straight south of Jeslyn, avoiding AoOs (and drawing how). Standard: ready an attack with +1 holy arrow! It goes off as soon as Karthak is clear of her. (I'm assuming she's evil-aligned, at least.)

Attack (PBS): 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 8 + 1 = 19
Damage: 1d8 + 2d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (7) + (5, 1) + 4 + 1 = 18

"Behold you ignorant abysal thot! I hold the sword Radiance---tool of your destruction!"

Arthas launches himself at the priestess in a two handed power attack.

1d20 + 8 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 8 - 2 + 2 = 25
1d10 + 6 + 6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 6 + 4 = 18

Danua's stance changes, her twitchy swaying is now steady, calm and as the last Dretch falls her blackblade rises up with a flourish as she holds the blade like a duelist. "Here you fall..." Her voice is far calmer than before just as she moves into the room alongside her companions.

USe 1 arcane as a swift action to add +1 to Blackblade. Use Blackblade Power to add +2 to damage. Both last for 1 minute

She stepped swiftly into the room, moving to flank the woman before striking with the use of an advantage in numbers. Her blackblade flashed asmagical energy surged through it. As she swung though a dark trail followed the blades swing like it were bleeding some sort of dark energy or living shadow. The strike was well aimed and her intentions were clear.

This dark priestess wouldn't escape.
