| Maxelmish Stoutwick |
Frustrated at his lack of progress, Max looses his whip yet again. This time, instead of aiming to hurt or entangle the beast, he tries to distract it. "Leave him alone you overgrown cabinet!"
Aiding Another to give Ra +2 AC (I believe as an untyped bonus, it also applies to his CMD, but double check me on that)
Aid Another: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
| GM Sigma |
It just says attack or AC, nothing about CMD.
Ra's axe cuts a groove into the golden face of the sarcophagus, exposing stone underneath. The construct seems immune to the taunts of the others, only following its singular task and continue its attack on Ra.
attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
grapple: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Sarcophagus is at -9 and its Inferis's turn.

Round 5______________
Sloshing around in waist deep water, Ra again lashes out at the fake sarcophagus.
dwarven waraxe attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 for a possible 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12 slashing damage.
Cerastes
|
Seeing his companion go limp as he is swallowed whole, the oracle throws caution to the wind as he tosses aside his protective shield to take a double handed grip on the warhammer before slamming it with incredible force back into the sarcophagus' lid.
Warhammer attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
| GM Sigma |
Both Lori's bullet and Cerastes' hammer find their mark, each dealing decicive blows to the sarcophagus. Seeing Ra unconcious, the construct drops him and turns his attention towards another.
attack vs. Cerastes: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
grapple: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
sarcophagus has taken 30 now

Round 6__________________
Caught by the animated sarcophagus, and disabled (but still conscious); Ra drops his axe and draws his shortsword. (Standard)(Takes 1 damage).
Cerastes
|
the sarcophagus is now going after what it deems as the larger threat.
Hey now! No need for insults, I am just big boned ;P
30 damage with a 5 hardness! Pure madness!
It does hit me because I dropped the shield (or slung it I guess since I still had a move action) to attack two-handed. Cerastes is now at 2 hitpoints.
Now that I have the sarcophagus' attention...never thought I would be thinking those words together...better defend myself, The big man unslings his shield again and bashes away with his hammer to try and free the dwarf.
Warhammer: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

Round 7_________________
Ra staggers as he thrusts his shortsword at the creature.
shortsword attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 for a possible 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 piercing damage.
He takes a point of damage.
| GM Sigma |
Lori's bullet lands a hit and the sarcophagus staggers slightly, but regains its balance and moves to attack Cerastes again. It is obvious to all who see that its strength is almost gone.
attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
grapple: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
32 damage taken. Inferis, you're up.
Cerastes
|
Oh, I thought it was treated as an object and objects are immune to crits. Your right, constructs are not immune.
Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
| GM Sigma |
Cerastes hammer finds its mark and with brute force causes part of the "head" to cave in. As he pulls his hammer back the sarcophagus collapses to the floor with a loud thud.
with that crit that encounter is FINALLY over. the bugger had 36 hp and a hardness of 5. he is INSANE. In my home game, he swallowed the wizard and if the encounter had lasted two more round he would have suffocated because the wizard was too weak to break out.
Ra-Khefer
|
Ra-Khefer stood there for a beat, looking at the collapsed creature.
"If you don't mind, Milord," He said, his breath rasping; "I think I would like to lie down for a few minutes..."
He proceeded to keel over in the shallow water.
*splash*
Cerastes
|
Cerastes catches the dwarf and easily picks him up out of the water, "You earned a rest." Looking over at Max, "Is this to be our final resting place? Are we entombed here forever?"
| Maxelmish Stoutwick |
"Nah, that kind of defeatist attitude won't get us anywhere." Max winks at Cerastes, hands Ra a potion (Cure Light Wounds) then gets back to work on the door.
Taking 20 this time (about 2 minutes of work) to unlock the door we entered through. Total result is a 28.
Cerastes
|
Assuming that Max's work drained the room and unlocked the doors Cerastes breathes a sigh of relief, "Well done." Nodding in agreement at Inferis' comment, "This trap must of been placed here to protect something sacred or valuable."
