Gatherine starts to scale up the side of the ship... finding just enough of the exterior ramming brace on the hull to hold onto.
Many of the shorter and more stout spines turn to point at Syndlara as she tumbles past. The longer spines angle toward Truk as he approaches.
Once he comes within a couple dozen feet, one of the long spines launches from its body.

Truk grunts in surprise as the urchin fires a volley of spines at him. Thankfully they clatter harmlessly off of his shiny oiled up skin.

Slowing further, Syndlara's dance falters and she doubles over in pain. She seems to have enough presence of mind to defend herself, but she doesn't otherwise move.

Gatherine edged away from the snotnosed mephit as it left a trail of nasal drippings she didn't want on her shoes.She peered up at the circling chupacabra uneasily.

Feeling a mixture of terror and uncertainty overwhelm him, Garborn is rooted to the spot, unable to think of anything he can do to help at the moment.


Gatherine sees the flying chupacabra adjust its path... it moves slightly closer to Syndlara, and circles 50 feet above her head.

Mugambi's hit breaks open the outer black skin of the urchin. Fleshy clumps ooze from the wound, and the urchin deflates a bit... appearing to be dead.

After the sea urchin dies, the red-winged devil circles a few more times, then returns to its cave. It sits perched gazing in your direction.

Piendy remains ducked under the ship's rail.

Go after Red-winged Devil, fully inspect ship, try to get through the ornate doors, or find a place to nap?

After a few seconds, Syndlara is able to right herself again. "Should have expected those things' spines would be poisonous," she says, still grimacing. "I'll be fine. Let's see if we can't rest a while in the ship, though."

The water is low enough you can see some of the uneven floor of the bay. Most of the area is filled with tide pools of the remaining water. A few dozen feet from the butte, you see a small frigate with a snapped mast. On the wall of the far cliff near the ship, is a large iron door with more snake styling on the surface.

Gatherine eyed the sagging sea urchin as she pondered some possibility of utilizing its corpse--for poisonous spines and plentiful seafood.Then she waddled after the others when she realized they were.taking refuge inside the ship.

Hopefully it's too big to pursue us in here.But luckily,I gotta sticky surprise for it if it does!


As you begin to enter the ship, the red-winged devil turns and shuffles back into his cave.

The interior of the ship is full of soggy, rotting, motley-colored cloth. There is nothing immediately perceivable as having any worth. There are two cabins far to the aft. Both are well-furnished, and the teak used has weathered as well as could be expected.

I will take perception checks. I will apply a bonus if you are specific to 1)main storage, 2)starboard cabin, or 3)port cabin.

Piendy hovers over Garborn's shoulder.

Iolana spots a hidden hatch under the clumps of rotting cloth. The latch is not immediately visible, but Truk'tosh notes the spot where the latch must be housed within the decking.

Truk:

You see where rust stains have seeped through the wood in three places around the barely visible seam of the hatch. Two on one side (likely the hinges), and one on the other (likely the latch).

Syndlara:

Everything in this cabin is covered in a greyish slime. You spot an overturned bookcase, and molding bindings. The slime is likely parchment... broken down to a homogenous substance while submerged.

On the far side of a bedframe, you see a skeleton impaled by a primitive spear - pinned to the deck.

There is a small desk and chair in addition to the bookcase and bedframe. All of the furniture is nailed down except the bookcase, which has broken loose.
