Sorry guys, I know I said I'd speed up, but have been losing time what with work and a few changes I'm making to my desktop. Hopefully the changes will be done soon and I'll get back into the swing of replying again.

DM Aron Marczylo |

Here's something that might get you all posting again. Which character should I use for my Society game on Monday?
or
Have to be honest, I much more prefer Aurora and been wanting to play her for a while. Jack on the other hand, when I started writing his story he suddenly became even more interesting.
Eitherway, I'd like to hear your opinions on these characters.

DM Aron Marczylo |

I apologise for being slow. I have done the major stuff on the computer and I had 3 interview yesterday. I'm hoping to hear from them sometime this week.

DM Aron Marczylo |

I'm trying for anything, but focusing on full-time as I currently have two part-time jobs.
The current jobs are St Mary's Stadium (football stadium ground for those who don't know. Home of the Saints. Southampton's football team) Saftey Steward where I meet & greet with spectators, watch for rule breakers, help provide a safe environment and so on. It's a 0 hour contract, but I get to choose what shifts to do and unfortunatly it's only when a home match it on. However I can work around it as I know the shifts ahead of time and can even phone up and cancel ahead of time if I have to, say, do overtime or something.
The other is another 0 contract from a agency, but as it's through a agency I have to run around and wait for them to phone me (which in most recent cases has been 1 day before the work day) so if I get a full-time job I'll dump this one so I can have a much more balanced time scale, plus better pay.
the three jobs are as follows:
Christmas Temp for JD Sports. A cloths shop that sells trainers, and various other cloths. They're after someone for the Christmas time.
Call Centre work in a company that helps the council by taking over many of their jobs so depending on the area might be dealing with people phoning in about building regs, street maintenance and even child care with social services. Pays well and is located in town just like the other so either one would be a easy place to travel.
Comfort Specialist which is basically customer service in HSL. this one also pays well, but it's a distance from where I live as it's in Hedge End Village and I live in Southampton and no matter what station I'd get off, it'd be an hour walk to so the location isn't great, but beggers can't be choosers.
The JD sports one I should've been notified Saturday and the Comfort Specialist I should've been notified Friday, so I'm assuming those are lost causes. The final one they said it'd be early this week so anything from today (which considering the time here is now 16:49 is a bit late) to possibly Wednesday.
Basically aiming anywhere low as I have no real computer skills beyond a course in college back in 2004-2005 period and a course which basically is meant to prove I know how to use a computer, but I found it pointless and never mention it.
Only skill I'm missing for shops is cash handling. I have every other skill and proof of it, but no actual experience behind a till, but I won't let that weigh me down.

DM Aron Marczylo |

I forgot what the roll was. I believe it was half-orc so half-orc he is.

Krenn Weststone |
So I am right in interpreting the spell in that, in addition to the attribute change, he loses Slow and Steady, Defensive Training, Hatred, Hardy Stability and Stonecunning, and gains Orc Blood and Orc Ferocity? He wouldn't lose Weapon Familiarity, Greed or Languages and gain Weapon Familiarity Intimidating and Languages since those are essentially feats and skills?

Llyra Bjorgan |

I have a tough time with this one. I think that if it is a learned/intellectual trait, you retain it. If it is a physical trait, you lose/gain it. Weapon familiarity is learned, I would think that Intimidating has more to do with the reputation of Orcs than something learned, so I would think that you would gain it.
Really, every racial trait should be classified as learned vs. inherent so that when characters are reincarnated, there is no question about this. I just had an elf witch reincarnated as a dwarf. We had the same discussion, and it is things like the perception bonus, or the like. Is it learned? Or inherent?

DM Aron Marczylo |

Sorry for not updating despite my promise. I've lost my cat as well as my dog recently and with the worries of Christmas shopping I've been lagging behind terribly.
Still no job, but I had another interview which has led nowhere unfortunately.

DM Aron Marczylo |

Well yeah of course he is...though not a dwarf anymore lol. Will be interested when he meets his family again.
"No really, it's me Krenn."

DM Aron Marczylo |

I'm going to assume people will be busy during december due to Christmas and so on so I won't be chasing people around at this point.

DM Aron Marczylo |

Do you have...off the top of my head I think it's called "Spell Perfection". It's a good feat to have. Dodge is useful to avoid attacks, toughness adds more hp. Last 2 aren't really recommended for a spell caster. Do you have Spell Penetraition? The bonus to overcoming SR is nice as is the follow-up feat. Maybe spell focus in another school you use a bit? These are just blind suggestions without looking at character sheet nor d20pfsrd.

Jerin |

I have SP and greater SP covered already.
Spell Perfection is very cool but you have to have the following: Spellcraft 15 ranks, at least three metamagic feats so you have to be 15th level.
I thought about Empower but it doesn't help with my Enchanter spells. I have persistent already. I have a rod of quicken so don't need that. I have heighten as well.
Thought about iron will...but again not sure it is worth it since my will save is decent.
Spell Focus Evocation might be useful...

Llyra Bjorgan |

The arcane discovery Staff-like Wand is pretty sweet. It requires Craft Staff, but that is not terrible. I think it would be sweet to craft wands of Magic Missile with Toppling Metamagic, and then use the Staff-Like Wand. You would get 5 trip attacks at like +20 with your Int and level.
Fast Study is also not bad, if you like to leave slots open.

DM Aron Marczylo |

Skill Focus could also be useful if you want to be really knowledgable in spellcraft, making failing a check neigh-impossible. It also really helps with identifying artifacts and suxh *hint* but can be used in knowledges for similar effect.
Iron will can always be useful as it does improve your will save and even though you have decent bonus, there is always the chance of failing. Same with fort for a fighter or Ref for a rogue. All very important and you're getting into the levels where there is a chance to run into enemies that either use spells or spell-like abilities that deliver a save-or-die effect.

Llyra Bjorgan |

Also wondering about my next feat. Greater Whip Mastery follows what I have been doing. And I have a great whip. The question is how often it will be useful.
Another option, if Jerin can add +2 Int to my headband at some point, is to take Combat Expertise and then Butterfly Sting so that I can transfer crits to Krenn. I have 12 Int, so do not qualify at this point.
I am also open to any other ideas. This is my only cleric, so I am not sure what else would be useful. I could grab a channel feat such as Selective Channel or Alignment Channel if people think this would help.

Krenn Weststone |
Ugh. Rerolled above. I'm thinking I may need to take Toughness. The better of those two rolls, a 3, would put me at 98 hit points (and that includes Con bonus and favored class). That's an average of less than 9 hit points per level, with a constitution score that gives him almost have that number.
You've heard of the glass cannon? I offer you, the glass tank!

Selective channel is well loved by clerics and groups with clerics in them as it means if you want to heal the group, but they're mixed in a bunch of enemies then you can heal them and avoid from healing the enemy so it is quite useful or even if you had someone on your team who can't take positive energy, like a Dhampire, you'd heal your team mates and can avoid from harming the Dhampire if Channeling to harm undead.
Channel alignment means you can harm lawfully aligned creatures I believe such as Devils or those with a lawful deity, though I'm not so certain on that. You also get elemental channel which is the same, though against elemental creatures.

Llyra Bjorgan |

Alex, to you have a cite to that rule. Here is Sean K. Reynolds on the issue. According to him, applying metamagic and using other level slots is no different for domain spells than for anything else.

Llyra Bjorgan |

That is what I was asking about. My 5th level domain spells are break enchantment and false vision. Situationally useful spells. My 4th level spells are confusion and freedom of movement, much more useful spells. Since we are expecting to meet a gigantic worm, I am not expecting to need break enchantment while we all agree that Freedom of Movement will likely be most useful.
I know that if the spell is not on the cleric spell list, then I can only put it into a domain slot.

DM Aron Marczylo |

Quite interesting about the rules as I was curious about the use of domains. Will need to keep that in mind. Will update the game today as I'll be at work all day tomorrow.

DM Aron Marczylo |

We appear to be going off track with OOC in the IC thread again. As per the rules, it nees to start it's next action grappling something. Basically freedom of movement would make it impossible, but you only need 1 person to be swallowed and how they exit, as long as they're alive, doesn't matter.

Jerin |

Or the worm could go underground after eating him and Krenn could exit underground and suffocate.
Just seem like Dimension Dooring out is the easiest way out to me. Plus you can't use anything but light weapons when you are swallowed whole if I remember my rules correctly.

Llyra Bjorgan |

If Jerin wants to go in, that is fine. With Communal Resist Energy and Protection from Energy, everyone has the protection. 30 minutes for Jerin.
And, really, Jerin is probably the best choice since he has been playing point on this anyway.

![]() |

No real horse in the race. Jerin going in makes far more sense to me though. Not to mention the rules around dealing damage to a creature inside its stomach are murky. Anything other than dealing damage to escape being swallowed is basically a house rule.
We are flooding the IC with pure OOC chat though, untagged as OOC too. It really irks me, doesn't bother anyone else? If its just me i'll learn to deal with it :).
