Game Master overfiend_87

Vencarlo is found and the party now know where the Senachal is, but something still lurks in the shadows of the labyrinth, hunting them down relentlessly.

Well, Calistria has several facits. You saw psycho-revenge with the Inquisitor that proceeded me, and super-slut with the cleric before him. I take a more deliberate method in my actions. I would prefer not having to move so fast, but sometimes there is not sufficient time to plan out an exquisite revenge. In those cases, you just fight to destroy (defeat/embarrass/neutralize/etc.) that which has cause you, or someone else harm. Personally I would prefer the embarrassment option, but since this evil seems to be tied in with undead and demons, I do not think that is a real viable option.

"Maybe after we've dealt with the queen, we can tip off the the clergy of Abadar about it. They can certainly deal with it in time."

I know there are other deities more suited for dealing with undead, but Krenn has a high opinion of Abadar's for the sole reason that they helped with his nephew.

Male Human Wizard (FC) 13 - Enchanter

Yes the undead do not present much of a threat at the moment. Maybe the best place for the rest of you to hide is down here, the illusions and the maze should keep away most intruders including any assassins. Curnach and I can go out tomorrow morning for the items we need and then we can escape the city for the moment.
All agreed?

Jerin goes to sit down and then starts to meditate...

Going to memorize disguise self x2, dimension door x3, fly x2, invisibility x2.
The plan is to purchase the following spells:
Non-detection
Mage's Private Sanctum
500gp in diamond dust plus anything Curnach thinks he needs or the party right away.

Master of Gaming and Grognardia Current map

And when you leave how are you going to make your way out?

Female Aasimar Cleric 10/Rogue 2) (HP: 101/101; AC: 25; FF: 21; Touch: 14

Has anyone done a calculation of what we have and how much money? I would like the Dex Belt upgraded to +4 and also to get a Wisdom Headband +4. If we have time for Jerin to craft them. Not sure what else I need, but will look into it.

Llyra Bjorgan wrote:

I have started to pull together the treasure for this next division. It looks like the last time we sold stuff off and bought and crafted stuff was the end of chapter 2. I'll try to wrap it up tonight.

Male Human Wizard (FC) 13 - Enchanter

I can Dimension door us out to outside the grounds of the manor if needed or go out to the secret entrance to the labrynth and do the same if we are concerned about distance. I want to be far enough away that no one spots us near the manor.

Male Human Wizard (FC) 13 - Enchanter

Aron, I think we are waiting on you to confirm my estimate on the dimension door? If so we wait down here overnight and then go get the scrolls I listed before fleeing the city.

Female Aasimar Cleric 10/Rogue 2) (HP: 101/101; AC: 25; FF: 21; Touch: 14

Yeh - whatever we need to do to exit the dungeon and get back up to the surface in a safe place.

Master of Gaming and Grognardia Current map

looking up the spell, one of my favs on my cleric with the travel domain, you have 760ft with the spell so you could quite easily reach the Arkona's home. you also bypassed two doors back in that fungi-full room.

Female Aasimar Cleric 10/Rogue 2) (HP: 101/101; AC: 25; FF: 21; Touch: 14

My vote is to head back and check out the fungi rooms then before we exit to make sure that there is nothing bad hidden in them.

Male Human Wizard (FC) 13 - Enchanter

That is fine, let's check it out. When we leave we will go to the Labrynth entrance then use Dimension Door to get out of the Arkonas Grounds so we don't get spotted leaving.

Master of Gaming and Grognardia Current map

Do you mean you agree Jerin? Hard to tell as the labyrinth entrance is back where the first rotation is, or do you mean the fungi caverns?

Female Aasimar Cleric 10/Rogue 2) (HP: 101/101; AC: 25; FF: 21; Touch: 14

Where ever the two doors you referenced are. I thought the fungi was the monsters we fought at the beginning in the grotto. Forgot there was a second fungus room.

Master of Gaming and Grognardia Current map

yeah that grotto. There were two other places. One was the twisty corridor and there were also a pair of large ornate wooden doors to the south, but you guys took the corridor which led to the labbyrinth.

Male Human Wizard (FC) 13 - Enchanter

Let's finish checking out all of these rooms/caverns first and make sure it is all cleared out.

Female Aasimar Cleric 10/Rogue 2) (HP: 101/101; AC: 25; FF: 21; Touch: 14

Agreed. As long as we know the layout and how the machine revolves - and since we decided to not kill the skelephants - lets go through and get the unexplored doors.

Master of Gaming and Grognardia Current map

As you enter you notice a the sound of hissing coming from just under the doors, but before you reach them there is a bubbling from the water below and before you appears the biggest reefclaw you have ever seen in anywhere near varisia.

Only stories that old sailors swear they've seen them grow this big and you thought it was a myth, until now.

Round 1

Group Initiative:

Curnach Daveck: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Jerinthian Kos: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Krenn Whetstone: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Llyra Bjorgan: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20

Vencarlo Orisini: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

Enormous Reefclaw: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

Order:

Curnach Daveck
Vencarlo Orisini
Enormous Reefclaw
Jerinthian Kos
Llyra Bjorgan
Krenn Whetstone

clearly Krenn is just far too fascinated with the worked stone and how well it was done that he wonders if the Arkonas had hired dwaren stone masons, rarther than pay attention to the enormous monster that wants to eat them.

MAP

Vencarlo is stunned by the size of this thing.
"Neolandus, you stay here. We need to take care of this pest." he says defiantly, and moves to lean him down against the wall carefully.

Female Aasimar Cleric 10/Rogue 2) (HP: 101/101; AC: 25; FF: 21; Touch: 14

Glad those were the Init rolls and not the Reefclaw's attack rolls. It is sad when a 20 is the second to worse Init.

HP 133/133, AC 26/14/23 CMD 22, F +13, R +10, W +17, P +22, In +11

In little mood for a drawn out fight, Curnach hurled a pea sized ball of fire that blossomed into a powerful inferno above the creature. Clutching his powerful metamagic rod only made the fire even more potent, difficult to avoid...

Empowered Fireball: 9d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 1, 3, 1, 6, 5, 2, 3) = 28 +50%= 42 damage.

Master of Gaming and Grognardia Current map

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

The Reefclaw is taken by surprise from the potent fireball and burned horribly, shrieking in pain.

Vencarlo, unable to get into mellee with this creature decides to put up his blade in total defence, protecting his beaten and bruised friend.

The Reefclaw crashes through the walkway and takes a few swings at Krenn. It manages to snag him quite viciously with it's claw before it grabs hold of him with the claw as a venum then seeps into his body, weakening the hardy dwarf.

attack 1: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (20) + 20 = 40

crit threat: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (18) + 20 = 38

damage: 4d6 + 16 ⇒ (6, 5, 6, 1) + 16 = 34

free grapple: 1d20 + 29 ⇒ (19) + 29 = 48 vs CMD 27

1d20 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 19

str damage: 1d2 ⇒ 1

HP 133/133, AC 26/14/23 CMD 22, F +13, R +10, W +17, P +22, In +11

Dwarf, poison. Fort is +17 for that so a total of 21 if that makes a difference.

Male Human Wizard (FC) 13 - Enchanter

Jerin targets beyond the reefclaw so that his fireball only catches the backside of the Vermin and not Krenn...

Fireball DC 20 reflex save 9d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 5, 5, 5, 5, 4, 3, 2) = 39

The explosion hammers the Reefclaw...

Female Aasimar Cleric 10/Rogue 2) (HP: 101/101; AC: 25; FF: 21; Touch: 14

How long has it been since the last fight? I cast Freedom of Movement on Krenn which has a duration of 90 minutes, so unless we have been chatting for an hour and a half, he should not be grappleable.

Master of Gaming and Grognardia Current map

The save eing 21 doesn't make a difference and that the case of grapple, he is now ungrappled then.

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16

Another fireball explodes on the Reefclaw, again burning it, but it remains fighting strong.

Female Aasimar Cleric 10/Rogue 2) (HP: 101/101; AC: 25; FF: 21; Touch: 14

Llyra attempts to move behind Krenn figuring that is the safest place and where she can do the most good.

From the map, I am not sure where the Reefclaw is, I will 5-foot move as I can.

Move Action: Create Copycat - Mirror Image, but only 1 duplicate.

Standard Action:
Touch of Luck on Krenn - may reroll any d20 for next round.

We should take this with us. It would feed many of the hungry on the streets for several days. And Curnach and Jerin have already mostly cooked it.

Assuming this creature doesn't have a reach that prevents Krenn from using melee weapons...

Krenn readies his axe and tries to strike a might blow against the reefclaw, hoping to finish what the raging (though fleeting) infernos started.

To hit 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (13) + 16 = 29
To hit Bo'L reroll 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (11) + 16 = 27
Damage 1d10 + 16 ⇒ (8) + 16 = 24

Master of Gaming and Grognardia Current map

sorry guys for not getting back for a while. no, it is using reach to Krenn can't strike back unfortunately.

How far is its reach? Can he strike using the Lunge feat?

Master of Gaming and Grognardia Current map

It's reach is 10ft so yes you can reach it with the lunge feat.

Don't you get more than one attack?

Curnach is up I believe...

Jerin wrote:

I had to ready his axe. It is only free to ready if you have quick draw or +1 bab and take a move action. When Krenn is leading and opening doors and such, he has his shield ready and axe stowed.

Master of Gaming and Grognardia Current map

Sorry I havn't updated the round. Been a bit here-and-there recently.

Krenn brings his axe down hard, smashing it against the creature's body with such a force, however the creature seems to remain standing despite the power behind Krenn's blow.

Round 2

Order:

Curnach Daveck
Vencarlo Orisini
Enormous Reefclaw
Jerinthian Kos
Llyra Bjorgan
Krenn Whetstone

Master of Gaming and Grognardia Current map

oops, forgot Curnach is very busy with his moving. lol.

Curnach Daveck

Getting irritated by this creature's inability to die he hurls another empowered fireball at the creture.

9d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 5, 2, 2, 3, 2, 6, 5) = 36 +50% = 54

Reflex: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16

The creature takes the full damage and it looks like it's in a horrible condition with 3rd degree burns covering most of it's hide and even scaring it beyond recognition. It was already monsterous looking before it was wounded, but now it somehow looks worse.

clearly my rolling love fireballs :p

Vencarlo

Vencarlo stay behind, deciding to let you all take this opitunity to take it down.

Reefclaw

The Reefclaw looks furious, however instead of attacking you can tell that the intelligence inside such a creature is telling it to reconsider and so it decides to turn back and go under the water. You can see the large shadow of this beast swimming away, out from the cavern passage on the oposite side of the chamber and fleeing with a incredible speed. You doupt you'll see it again.

end of combat

"Well. That was. Unexpected."

Male Human Wizard (FC) 13 - Enchanter

Cowardly Vermin! I guess we should finish looking around so we can wrap things up around here.

Female Aasimar Cleric 10/Rogue 2) (HP: 101/101; AC: 25; FF: 21; Touch: 14

Lol, yes just catching up. Problem is I keep looking at threads, telling myself to update tomorrow, and then forgetting :p

HP 133/133, AC 26/14/23 CMD 22, F +13, R +10, W +17, P +22, In +11

Redot. Aron when you do start it up again PM Krenn and Llyra. Dots are obviously gone.

Master of Gaming and Grognardia Current map

Here we go...urgh you're gonna hate me for this.

You push open the temple doors to reveal that it appears to honor the head of the family as some kind of God, but that isn't the most revolting thing in this room

What you see before you are the biggest snakes that you've ever seen. They have massive hoods and leering red eyes that are absent serphentine slits unlike other snakes. They are roughly 18ft long and weigh over 200 pounds. Curnach recognises them as Emporor Cobras. Most likely the creatures that hatched from the eggs you found in the old Arkona warehouse during the plague.

As you enter you see that one has just finished shedding his skin and a rashaka is eating it along with these two snakes. His eyes glint as he sees you and grins.

"Glorio sent down more food? I hope you taste better than the last fool who entered this temple." he states, drawing his kukri ready.

Group Initiative:

Curnach Daveck: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Jerinthian Kos: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Krenn Whetstone: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Llyra Bjorgan: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

Vencarlo: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

Emporor Cobras: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

Rashaka: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29

Round 1

Order:
Avidexu (Rashaka)
Krenn Whetstone
Llyra Bjorgan
Curnach Daveck
Vencarlo
Jerinthian Kos
Emporor Cobras

The Rashaka mutters a few words and casts a spell upon himself, grinning his serphentine lips as he then says
"Get them my pets, but leave me some for later." he grins, laughing in great pleasure.

Spellcraft DC 16:

The spell he cast was Shield.

MAP

Neolandus is staying back, just in case of the possibility that there was a danger here, which there obviously is.

Female Aasimar Cleric 10/Rogue 2) (HP: 101/101; AC: 25; FF: 21; Touch: 14

Yeh - damn Campaign tab is not updating for this campaign.

Another one, these things must breed like mice.

Did we rest? I don't think so, but do not recall.

If we did not rest, then I will cast Spiritual Ally.

It will appear at AC50 and attack the Cobra at AB50.

Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
Damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Delay until after Jerin.

"Do we charge, or hold?"

In other words, shall I defend while you cast, or engage?

Male Human Wizard (FC) 13 - Enchanter

Wait for a moment, I have something special planned for this one...

Assumes Krenn delays until after my turn...

Cast Hungry Pit DC 22 Reflex save. 40' foot deep pit that contracts for 9 rounds. Should catch all of them centered on AB/AC, 50/51.

Master of Gaming and Grognardia Current map

Llyra's spell goes off and a beautiful elf appears with beautiful wasp-styled colours on her scantily-clad armour that leaves nothing to the imagination. She lashes out with a whip. The first hits the snake, but the second misses.

snakes: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

Rashaka: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26

falling damage: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 4, 5) = 19

Curnach's turn

rolled the stuff above first by accident

Curnach fires off another empowered fireball at in the area that covers both snakes and Rashaka, but the spiritual ally is not effected as it is made out of energy just like a spiritual weapon. The fire badly wounds the snakes, but doesn't kill them and doesn't effect the Rashaka neither.

empowered fireball: 9d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 1, 5, 1, 4, 2, 2, 3) = 23 + 50% = 34

Curnach's CL check: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23

Vencarlo stays back as Jerin instructs, not wanting to be caught in magical crossfire as Jerin then casts his spell, opening up a hole in the floor with a opening and closing mouth of a pit. The two snakes fall in, but the Rashaka manages to keep himself out of the pit.

One cobra dies from the fall, whilst the other is stil alive, but is unable to crawl the perfectly smooth wall before the put closes in on it and a fountin of blood shoots up in the air from the crushed creature.

1d20 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15

4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 4, 2) = 17

The Rashaka tentively steps back from the spiritual thing before him and then tries to defensively cast a spell which it manages to get off, aiming a finger right at Krenn, issue forth a lightning bolt going through Krenn and catching Vencarlo too.

1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23

7d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 6, 2, 5, 6, 5) = 27 DC 16 reflex for half.

1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13

Round 2

Order:
Avidexu (Rashaka)
Krenn Whetstone
Llyra Bjorgan
Curnach Daveck
Vencarlo
Jerinthian Kos
Emporor Cobras (dead)

MAP

Female Aasimar Cleric 10/Rogue 2) (HP: 101/101; AC: 25; FF: 21; Touch: 14

Round 2
The spirit of whips again lashes out with her whip, this time at the annoying Snake demon.

SR Check: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27

Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
Damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13 <-- this is force, so there should be no DR

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Did I get an AoO? It looks like the Rashaka is still adjacent to me.
_____________
Llyra moves to Z48, allowing her ally to continue to harass the monster.

Reflex save 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16 Takes 14, now at 69 of 83.

Krenn reflexively dodges to the side when the lightning bolt flashes, evading the brunt of it but still seared and smoking after it fades.

Is the pit persisting and taking up the whole floor there?

Male Human Wizard (FC) 13 - Enchanter

Yes it is around for 9 rounds, the snakes are toast unless they can make the DC climb check of 35. Curnach knows our plan, he should actually be casting the watery spell to bull rush the Rakshasa into the pit.
Alex are you out there to finish him into the pit??? :]

Female Aasimar Cleric 10/Rogue 2) (HP: 101/101; AC: 25; FF: 21; Touch: 14

I will only move to the edge of the pit, not into it. I am not sure exactly where it is.
