Optimization is fine, but I encourage everyone to build the character they envision, so don't stress over it.

FYI to balance for six players and a high point buy I tend to buff the enemies (a necessary conversion coming from 3.5, anyway), so expect higher ACs and more hit points than you might normally see at our level.

Also please read my profile and look to prior combats to see how I do things.

Being a celebrity in Korvosa is fine. Cal, Garvid, and even Yazi are pretty well known, too.

We have just finished Welcome to the Guard, having infiltrated the butcher shop and extracted Verik Vancaskerkin. We are about to report back to Cressida.

Good stuff! I'll post later this afternoon.

OK, here's.... Pietro.

His crunch is done but please look it over. I've accounted for this alchemical items as if they had been made by him (1/2 price) but can change that if it's an issue.

Unless you have any comments, all I need to do is pick a second feat (taking suggestions...).

M Human Bard 6 (Chelish Diva) HP: 46/46, AC 23/11/22, F+4 R+6 W+5, Per +5, Init +1

Skill Focus: Heal would be appropriate, and as a human, you can take the option to get two more skill focus feats at higher level.

But I'd recommend Concentrated Splash. If you take it, you could actually pick a different discovery.

Skill focus heal is very appropriate but would not be 'optimizing' the PC.

The concentrated splash is good but it is NOT usable with alchemist bombs so I'm stuck with throwing alchemical items which don't do a lot of damage to being with.

M Human Bard 6 (Chelish Diva) HP: 46/46, AC 23/11/22, F+4 R+6 W+5, Per +5, Init +1

Not usable with bombs? Sigh.

Gotta love all the exceptions to the rules.

Pietro looks good, the only thing I noticed was your Disguise skill, which should be +2 (+1r, +1Cha) instead of +3.

The party is currently at the Fordyce estate, cooling their heels after arresting a couple of deserters from the Korvosa City Guard. A bunch of us are injured, which would be an excellent pretext for a chirurgeon to show up. Yazi has done what she could with Heal checks, but she's mainly a midwife so her efficiency is limited (she's also out of CLW spells for the day). I can imagine that Calcedon, as a good host, would not let his guests linger while injured, so he would call for a trusted physician to see to their wounds.

I love this idea. It's the easiest option by far. Let's move on this immediately so we can introduce Pietro and find a way to lure him encourage him to join the group.

Welcome, Pietro! Any guard with more than a single brain cell would greatly appreciate a doctor in the midst, even considering Garvid is not a fan of the bourgeoisie nobles.

I'm not planning on taking anything from the loot (Who needs a masterwork longbow when you have a sling that uses all your strength?)

After splitting it 5 way, we end up with 1098 gp each, if noone else picks anything, and I don't see anyone being terribly interested in anything there.

That puts me in total of 2226.1 GP. I'd like to buy a masterwork full-plate (yay, fighter) and a masterwork halberd. I've specifically build Garvid not to take a preference to any particular weapon, so I can pick up any magical (non-light, we got folk for that), and he'll be golden.

1700 for spiked masterwork full plate and 315 for a masterwork halberd puts me at 176 (and a silver!)

If that's ok with the GM, I can update, after we get the cash.

Female Half-elf HP 41/76 (5nl)| AC 21/FF 16/ T 15 | Per +13 | F: 9 | R: 10 | W: 9 | Init +5 Brawler 11

Yeah, I'm gonna echo Garvid on this one. Except for the fancy dagger, nothing's really what Mouse is going for, and she's had Yazi point out that keeping the dagger's maybe not a good idea (although she'll offer to carry it in order to keep it on hand while we're figuring out its deal).

[Roll20] | [Harrow Point Uses] | [Loot] | [Hero Points] | [Padlet] | [Discord Chat]

Garvid, that sounds like a winning plan. You will have a chance to sell and shop tomorrow in-game. I'll give Li a chance to weigh in on the loot, then I'll liquidate the list and you can assume you've got the cash. I know I'm rushing a little, but this is probably the easiest way to integrate Pietro. Really, the timing is great.

Female Human Unchained Rogue/11 HP 93/93; AC 21 T 15 FF16; Fort+5 Ref+12/14 Will+5; Init+5; Perception+16/19, Sense Motive +16

Li would take the bolts and we should keep the potion of CMW...Garvid should probably take it.

[Roll20] | [Harrow Point Uses] | [Loot] | [Hero Points] | [Padlet] | [Discord Chat]

That was fast. Okay, as to specific items:

Yaziyah has the mwk spear (302g) and the serpentine dagger (value uncertain).
Garvid has the potion of CMW (n/a)
Li has the bolts (10).

Liquidating remaining gear, accounting for money found, and the bounty (which you will receive in-game once you meet with Cressida), Cal, Garvid, Li, Mouse, and Yazi should now add 1,098 gp to their inventories.

Pietro, you should re-calculate your starting wealth as (180 + 1,975) = 2,155 gp. This puts you on equal footing with the others.

Questions?

I'm Ok either way. There are still a lot of things that are unknown to Pietro about what the group has done and/or is tasked to do, but we can roleplay that out as the game advances.

We can say that Pietro intrinsically trusts his good friend Cal, which reminds that I need to read his background info when I get a chance.

In any case, you know Pietro will 'join' so feel free to move us along (or not).

M Human Bard 6 (Chelish Diva) HP: 46/46, AC 23/11/22, F+4 R+6 W+5, Per +5, Init +1

Yeah, you should read that. :P

Wicked has requested all my information on the Fordyce Estate, and as I have time I'll be bringing that out. It's mostly in my head, although I have a few scattered notes. I'd been planning to play Calcedon for roughly four years before I even got to play him on the boards, so my notes concerning him and House Fordyce are eclectic and widespread indeed. I figure I can post it here and there in discussion and we can go from there.

I'd figure we're in the first-floor parlor. It's an old and comfortable room, with a bit of yellowing near the ceiling due to the wall mounted lamps and from the smell one can note cigars smoked in this room in years past. There's no central piece in here, but there is a harpsichord in the corner and a smattering of ancient furniture, fairly garish and threadbare but terribly sturdy. Along with a small fireplace and a couple narrow windows that lead into the courtyard, there's a couple of tea tables nearby, and it has one door that opens to the central hall and one more that leads to a short hall with a couple bedrooms with the mudroom on the far end.

Lovely, thank you Cal! If you don't mind, I can include this information under the "House Fordyce" spoiler I've started under the Campaign tab?

Also, so we're all on the same page, here's a recap of where we've been so far:

The group was drawn together by a common thread--a cruel old criminal named Gaedren Lamm. Give nthe chance to avenge themselves by a mysterious Varisian woman named Zellara, they confronted Gaedren in the old fishery that served as his hideout. Therein, they found two surprises--a brooch stolen from Queen Ileosa and Zellara's severed head. Zellara had been dead for weeks, and now her harrow deck serves as a receptacle for her ghost, creating a strange but helpful ally that seems to able to help the group in unexpected ways. I believe Yazi is currently carrying that deck.

After the group emerged from the fishery, they learned that King Eodred had died, and the city of Korvosa has been plunged into chaos (as you are no doubt well aware). The group, along with a scattering of Lamm's Lambs, retreated to House Fordyce here in East Shore, the historical estate of the Fordyce Family. After meeting with the, ah, grieving queen to return the stolen brooch, they were recruited by the Korvosan Guard to help bring the city back under control. After being tasked with bringing in a rogue guard who had taken it upon himself to start a "free meat" program in North Point, we discovered this "Robin Hood" was actually serving human remains to the hungry, desperate masses. His level of culpability is questionable, but no doubt the city's court system can sort it out.

btw I'm quite enjoying the creative approaches to shopping :). Visiting Ye Olde Blacksmith works just fine (now that the city is coming back together), but this is sure fun.

I would like to get a couple of wands, but I'm not entirely sure what spells to put on them - suggestions? Aside from that, I'd like to get a masterwork breastplate.

Female Half-elf HP 41/76 (5nl)| AC 21/FF 16/ T 15 | Per +13 | F: 9 | R: 10 | W: 9 | Init +5 Brawler 11

Hex vulnerability can be a decent choice if you're planning to pick up Misfortune eventually. Action economy starts to work against you if your hex doesn't stick the first time, though, and the save on a wand is going to be a little low.

Frostbite is a pretty good one if you aren't afraid to get up close and personal occasionally - nonlethal damage and fatigue with no saving throw is nice. Produce flame is another way to give yourself a decent backup blaster-y option. Entangle is a good crowd control option, and since it forces saves every round you're in there and creates difficult terrain no matter what the low wand save doesn't matter (although you do have to get creative about suggesting plant life to call up in an urban environment).

If Mouse can figure out it's a thing, she might offer to buy you a wand of magic weapon until she can afford an amulet of mighty fists. But considering she doesn't have any experience to speak of with either magic or damage reduction, figuring that out's going to be the trick. ;)

EDIT: I just realized, I don't think I ever spent any money the last time we got a big influx...I searched through Mouse's posts, the discussion thread, and her profile and didn't find anything. But naturally, I didn't write the money down on my sheet either - I'm adding another 877 gold to her because of that, and assuming she's kept the money at Cal's because that's an awful lot to carry on her person. Shopping for non-gear-dependent classes is hard! XD

Right. Just because Vencarlo offers to show you the way doesn't mean you have to gain entry yet.

Female Shoanti Shaman 11 (Lore) HP: 2/89 | 28/28 | AC 25/13/23 | F+9 R+9 W+15 | Per +13 Init +7 | Hex DC 20

I think I'll go with spells where saving throw doesn't matter, like Bless, and keep the offensive spells on my person. Also, I think Magic Weapon doesn't work with unarmed strike, if that's what you wanted it for, but in any case it would be a good second choice for a wand. Either that or Protection from Eeeeebil, but I'm not sure how many straight-up eeeebil foes we will encounter in the future so maybe some more general buffs would be better.

Female Half-elf HP 41/76 (5nl)| AC 21/FF 16/ T 15 | Per +13 | F: 9 | R: 10 | W: 9 | Init +5 Brawler 11

Brawlers get the same provision monks do where their unarmed strikes count as weapons for spell purposes. So it does work.

Hey all! I'm currently trying to move house, and I've not really got a place to stay for now. So expect the posts to be quite sporadic for the next week or so, especially considering I can't get to a cafe with internet or anything due to my work schedule. (which is evil.)

I'll be keeping an eye when I can, but if combat comes, feel free to bot Garvid, and as for now, he might just grunt and stare at people menacingly.

Regarding food, I would actually like all of those. Like, now.

As I go to shake his hand I am reiterating my understanding of the agreement. I am making sure that I get to work from home and that before I accept a job, I will make sure that my 'schedule is clear' and I can deliver what he's asking (product, schedule, etc.). If that's not the case then I have the right to NOT enter in a particular contract, which I know I won't be able to fulfill.

Does this make sense?
