There were ten blunted arrows outside, and I saw that Zane picked up the 20 that we found on the bodies inside.

So far I've taken (written down on my char. sheet) the following:

MW short sword
Purse with 87 gp inside (we could divide this if you want, at the moment I'm keeping it like this to be returned...maybe)
20 blunted arrows

I'm not sure if we found another/additional 10 blunt arrows?

Also, I missed the fact that Undead are my favorite enemy, so I have additional +2 bonus on many checks. Not reallyimportant so far, but I'll keep that in mind in the future.

How much days did we travel 2 or 3 - how much trail rations should I delete (plus the one I've given to the wolf)?

I feel a bit like "stealing the spotlight" here by posting constantly, which I never want to do, but OTOH unless you guys are willing to use Nadab's method (discovering traps face-first) :-) are you OK with me continuing to post often? At least until we leave this trapped inferno :-(


For the sake of giving others something to do - there is a path through this room that is completely free of traps. Probing the floor before you with a spear, pole, or broomstick gives a rather hefty bonus if you come across a trap.

I already thought of the spear, pole, or broomstick, we don't have any of those, but doesn't our cleric use a glaive?


There were three broomsticks next to the door when you entered the chamber. Also, Nadab uses a longspear. And Venedictos uses a glaive. So, lots of floor-poking equipment available.

I'm here, sorry for delay, too much travel :-( Should be back home finally very late tonight. Tell me, is it possible for Zane to circumvent/jump over a trap he already discovered (fell into)?


All of you can assume that any trap marked by a red square has been chalked by Zane or sprung. You can press yourselves against the wall and ease your way past these traps safely.

Still here, real life has been throwing me some curve balls lately and I'm probably in too many PbP games for the time I have left. If I don't have something new to contribute I've been keeping silent. I don't want to leave anyone in the lurch by just disappearing but if you want to give me the boot for a replacement I understand.

One more hit and this thing goes down. All it wanted was to make a nice nest for the eggs it was about to lay. But, no, the murder hobos had to come and slice and dice it!


The dice gods really seem to have it in for us. We're either missing or doing tiny damage.

I thought retriving my vial of holy water from my backpack took a full round, 1 action to find it in my pack and another to pull it out, or something like that, then my action in the 2nd round would be to move next to the shadow and pour the holy water on it as a ranged touch attack.

I didn't think that under normal conditions (ie no magic or specail abilities involved) that you could retrieve a stored object and use it on the same round.

Move - Retrieve holy water.
Standard - Open holy water.

Round 2
Standard - Ranged touch attack.

As stated, the shadow gets two attacks of opportunity. I'll apply those now.

You know what - I think you're right. No matter, that AoO I posted will just apply to Bern's ranged touch attack.

Actually i think pouring holy water doesn't trigger an AoO if I read the text right, but I think moving into position to attack does trigger an AoO

Just seeing how bad the fight against that shadow could have gone prompted me to ask - are we anywhere close to maybe reaching level? We had a few solid encounters so far, I'd say...


You are close-ish. I'm not actually tracking experience, but rather going by story cues. There a few more first level encounters left. The shadow actually played out how I imagined it would - part of why I love this module so much!

Slight spoiler, but it might be helpful in granting you the courage to continue - there is an encounter coming up that will bring you all to full health and abilities. Don't let that Strength damage hold you back!
