We loves you, Lein.
Also: I'm back. I like Burahl too, so it works out. :D Here's my c/p text for you guys too:
Ok. I know I was gone again. >< This time it was a vacation. The good news is, I no longer have any more vacations, I have a computer, the building's internet seems to have stabilized, I'm working on schedules with my therapist to keep me organized, and most of my other friends seem healthy and unlikely to go into the hospital for emergency surgery!
In fact, next month my mother is going to the US for almost two months, giving me a lot of time to be lonely and clingy to you all. :)
Point being, I am here. Most likely my scheduling will put me on one post a day minimum to keep me organized, but that'll be better than on again off again.
Apologies again for the yoyoing. I've been trying different meds and not meds and its wrecking havok with sleep and general ability to focus; either I'm sleeping 14 hours a day, or I'm awake but a zombie.
Hopefully that will work out soon.

Where does Fredo place "magically compelled" on the "i did it willingly" scale?
Ask again when Fredo actually casts a (compulsion) spell :P
(Charm) spells can't compel the subject to do something they wouldn't normally do, so on some level Verik must have wanted to repent of his actions and come clean about his motivations. All the spell did was circumvent the need to make half a dozen more Diplomacy checks than we ultimately had to.
I have another thing - Burahl, Raijinn, and Fredo, can I have today's prepared spells for you guys?
Oh, cause fear, infernal healing, ray of enfeeblement and shield seems like a good repertoire of first-level spells, if not an especially Good one. As for cantrips, I'll prepare detect magic, guidance, light and prestidigitation
Burahl Narnec |
I don't have spells exactly, I use my extracts as bottled spells, but I can make them whenever I want in 1 minute time.
If needed to give a list of extracts prepared ahead of time:
Bomber's Eye (though I don't think we want to torch the place)
Enlarge Person
Last is likely Detect Secret Doors.
As I already have potions of Shield and CLW with me.

Haha. Sorry guys, fourth of july weekend ended up being ... uh, long and crazy.
I hope that by "long and crazy" you also meant to imply "fun".
A bit of bookkeeping: how many of the thugs are left? We started with six. Thaven won the knivesies game by dropping one. Thaven and Akiki took down another in the first round with dagger and arrows. Raijin took dropped a third in the first round with scimitar and shocking grasp. The recap of the first round, however, says that "four thugs" are "down" and that only one remains standing (he's attacking me at the moment). Presumably the one that lost the knivesies game isn't counted. So how did the two extra thugs fall? Burahl's acid?

1 person marked this as a favorite. |
I was being sincere! It would have been SUPER easy for us to kill Barvasi, steal his s~, light his boat on fire with him stuck inside, or any number of other horrible things. But it didn't even seem to really cross our minds. We got what we came for, we f%~+ed with him because he f~~*ed with us first, and then we left. Hell, Thaven even wanted to still PAY him. We're f$+*ing classy.
Burahl Narnec |
The stuff's all in the sea chest.
Ah yes, as most treasures are. Unfortunately I'm not the one with thieving skills. *looks at Akiki*
Also Raijinn the other thought had crossed Burahl's mind as well...
As can be observed...

The last couple day's worth of posts have very much reminded me why I love this group so much.
You know, I believe that I'm a bit older than most, if not all, of you, and I've been playing D&D/Pathfinder for several years, and even now on these forums I'm in like 7 different games, and I can still say with all honesty that this is one of the best groups I've ever played with. Kudos to all of you.

Right back at you. You're probably right about the length of our various careers in gaming and as people; I've only been playing D&D since 2010, and only switched to PF in 2011. In that time I've been very lucky to have a wonderful RL group (it disbanded last year when three of us, including me, graduated university) and some very nice PbP groups. This one does rank very highly.
I think it's because there's a tendency among us to say "yes" to things. I don't mean just Leinathan letting us try stuff; we haven't actually tried anything terribly outlandish from a "can I allow this" perspective. I mean a willingness to accept the given circumstances, including each other's actions, and play with them. It feels very supportive. This last beat, leaving the Eel's End was a good example. There are different visions at work among us, but they don't confront one another in an intransigent sense, but rather in a dialectical sense.

Yeah, I started playing PF in 2012, actually, and I just turned 18 a few weeks ago. This was my first PbP, and it remains my favorite.
I also think because all of the characters have essentially the same attitude. A lot of the time I'll see parties formed from a mixture of whimsical and grim characters, and this party seems to share the same outlook.

:) Agree in general ; my current RL game waffles wildly between the evil characters and the good ones, and while they're more or less good at keeping it together in an OOC sense, IC its a bit chaotic and non-gelly. We had to turn our paladin into an anti-paladin XD
I like the way this group is random different alignments and do things that might upset the others, but doesn't seem to threaten our ability to work together. XD

\o/ GO TEAM.
Healths: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 (+1 Favoured Class) = 6
BAB +1 (Total +2)
Fort +0, Ref +1, Will +0
Nothing new for Spells
Skills: (+6)
+1 Intimidate (New Skill, Class Skill)
+1 Perception
+1 Spellcraft
+1 Use Magic Device
+1 Linguistics (New Skill, not a Class Skill. Bonus Language Abyssal.)
+1 Sense Motive (New Skill, not a Class Skill)
Special Ability: Bladebound!
My weapon gains +1, it has Intelligence of 11, Wisdom and Charisma of 7, and Ego of 5. Oh, and it's g~$*##n sentient.
(It has an Arcane Pool of 1. Mine is 5.)
Alertness (Ex): While a magus is wielding his black blade, he gains the Alertness feat. (+2 Perception, +2 Sense Motive)
Black Blade Strike (Sp): As a free action, the magus can spend a point from the black blade’s arcane pool to grant the black blade a +1 bonus on damage rolls for 1 minute. For every four levels beyond 1st, this ability gives the black blade another +1 on damage rolls.
Telepathy (Su): While a magus is wielding or carrying his black blade, he can communicate telepathically with the blade in a language that the magus and the black blade share. (The Black Blade begins knowing Common and gains bonus languages as it gains intelligence.)
Unbreakable (Ex): As long as it has at least 1 point in its arcane pool, a black blade is immune to the broken condition. If broken, the black blade is unconscious and powerless until repaired. If destroyed, the black blade can be reforged 1 week later through a special ritual that costs 200gp per magus level. The ritual takes 24 hours to complete.
Gaining +2 to hit is pretty g&$*~+n awesome. And I really need to get into using my Arcana, and this seems the perfect time to do that.
I am not sure how we want to introduce the fact that my weapon now has sentience. I still like the idea of it being the source of my power. But I'm really not sure how to introduce it.

I was thinking that maybe it could randomly offer advice to a problem you cant figure out. Maybe you won't know its your sword for a while, and just think you're going crazy more or that its Majenko or something.
Also, name it please XD And have you got an idea for the personality/alignment/goals of your sword?
Oh, and don't forget your 3rd-level feat, and adding two new spells to your spellbook.

I approve of this plan.
Also, name it please XD And have you got an idea for the personality/alignment/goals of your sword?
Oooh name it? I like this. I'll think on it.
And the alignment of the sword is supposed to be my own, which I'm definitely planning to play with. I'm intending the sword itself and his relationship with it to be one of the things that prevents Raijinn from actually going evil as he gains more power. As far as what kind of Lawful Neutral it's going to be, I'll think on that, too. As far as goals, I really don't know. I'm not even sure if I'm supposed to know. And I know literally nothing about this AP so I'm not sure what would really fit?
It's worth noting that in my background I specified that Gaedren gave Raijinn the black blade, which likely means that the sword wanted him to.
Oh, and don't forget your 3rd-level feat, and adding two new spells to your spellbook.
Oh right! Give me some time to think on the feat, too. I imagine that I was probably planning on taking Dervish Dance - except that I didn't put Skills into Perform. So I may have either f&!~ed myself up, or not been intending to take it yet.
*Goes back to musing*
Raijinn |
I also forgot that Uncanny Defense gives me +1 more AC this level. Oh, Raijinn, you complicated man, you.
And I'm still contemplating Dervish Dance, so my skills for leveling may change. It's only +1 damage at this level, but assuming that I dump my stat point into Dexterity at level 4, it'll go up to +2. But it's also possible that I'll go with Intelligence, so I'm not suuuure. I may find a more Magus Appropriate feat. Toughness, Power Attack, or a Metamagic Feat could all be super valid. DECISIONS DECISIONS.
Would you want to have the reins on your Black Blade or do you want me to?
I will likely interject dialogue at times, but I think in general it would be better if you did.
