Crystal Shalhoume |
Crystal shakes her head, having no intention of going near the assembling mob without her meat shield...erm, ally. She has a sudden thought. A grisly thought. She gets out her dagger and approaches the altar. She does her best to carve out the eye in the head. If she can get it out, she will place that in the 'lock'.
Victoria Fate |
Fate pulls out a scroll of Bless. "Ve should prepare. It appears ve vill need to fight these villagers. They vill learn the folly of fighting Fate."
Victor Ravenport |
Victor seems thrilled by the suggestion of fighting the hapless villages, his withering vessel aching as he mutters to the assembled in a respectable low tone; "Sarcon, dearest. It seems you have the chance of causing havoc on a /grand/ scale. I'll bet you 10 gold pieces that you can't kill 10 of them."
DM-Kal |
As crystal tries gruesome but clever methods to no avail, the rest of the party prepares for battle. A cultist with his hood down enters the hall. "What have you folks decided abou--" he stops short when he sees the circus in, on, and around the altar. He stands for a moment, mouth agape, and then stammers out some words. "Get them!"

Crystal

Doc
Fate
I can try to put up a grid for this tonight, but you're all within 10ft of the door to the hall, the door is 5ft wide, and there is a single cultist standing on the other side of it with 4 more behind him in a square. You can take your turns or wait for the grid (though depending on my wife and child, a grid may not happen).
Crystal Shalhoume |
Crystal grins wickedly, moving to the right of the door (gracefully allowing Sarcon the spot directly in front of the door. Her fingers spread in a fan as she releases a torrent of flame upon the villagers for their insolence.
Burning Hands: 2d4 ⇒ (1, 3) = 4
Cast Burning Hands, 15ft cone (which should catch most if not all of them. Reflex DC 15 for half
Victor Ravenport |
Applause echoes through the room and while Victor continuously claps his hands together, he sweeps over to Crystal's side and while his methodical movement proceeds onwards, the same flickers of light blue lights seem to dance around the cultists. That is, until a vivid cone of clashing colors springs forth from his hands, washing over the cultists in a chaotic madness of sensations.
That's a DC 16 will save to avoid being affected by the spell. Which happens to be Color Spray.
2 HD or less: The creature is unconscious, blinded, and stunned for 2d4 rounds, then blinded and stunned for 1d4 rounds, and then stunned for 1 round. (Only living creatures are knocked unconscious.)
3 or 4 HD: The creature is blinded and stunned for 1d4 rounds, then stunned for 1 round.
5 or more HD: The creature is stunned for 1 round.

Will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Well, you guys certainly got lucky on that one.
Crystal burns several of the cultists significantly. Victor then knocks out the majority of them, leaving two in the back.
Sarcon the Enduring |
After seeing the lovely fireworks display of his teammates, Sarcon seems to have an idea. He reaches for the least burnt one and places him on the alter, before turning around to watch the door.
"Maybe he only deals with whole people."
DM-Kal |
Sarcon is a free spirit. If he wants to pin a living (albeit unconscious) cultist to the table and watch him cook, that is his super-disturbed prerogative. Go crazy Sarcon.
Sarcon picks up an unconscious fellow and flops him on the table on top of the cooking virgin bits. The man's robes begin to smoke.
The last two standing cultists both begin casting spells, one finishing before the other. Suddenly, a thick cloud of mist fills the hall and the surrounding area.
Obscuring mist. Have fun!
Party Up!
Crystal Shalhoume |
It was more a question of the safety of Sarcon himself. He can cook them all after the fact, if he likes! I'd likely even help.
Crystal's eyes narrow in the foggy murk. She chants to the Prince of Darkness, "Asmodeus, grant your servant your protection from harm from these infidels!. She then moves out of the doorway (outside), moving to the right, trying to clear the fog.
Casts Shield of Faith, will move 20', trying to clear the fog. Will draw her bow as part of her move action.
Sarcon the Enduring |
"You did NOT JUST CAST A FOG SPELL AT ME!"
Sarcon heads out to where he last saw the casters and finds the one thats still casting.
"Tell your god i said hello"
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 91
Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19
Damage: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (5, 2) + 10 = 17
The Good Doc |
The Doc stammers a bit We could. Or.. Well. You know.. sighing, Doc draws his saw and heads out the door, trying to find the cultist that has yet to finish casting (going by memory if he cant see him due to the fog). He then attempts to hack a limb off..
To Hack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Hack n Slash: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Miss?: 1d100 ⇒ 50
but he seems unable to land a decent blow in the fog, and curses a bit.
Victoria Fate |
"You cannot hide from Fate!" Fate will cast Inflict Light Wounds and then move up and attempt to use her free touch attack.
Touch Attack: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (8) - 3 = 5
High is good for me
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 38
She holds the charge.
Victor Ravenport |
Seeing as Crystal was capable of moving through the mist, then I assume that I can do the same.
Victor, seeing that Crystals slips further into the mist, charges as quickly forward as he can. Only to pause as soon as he reaches the very edge of the mist's cold grasp. He raises his hand and his finger wiggling channels forth a sickly, gray ray at the remaining cultist.
Touch Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Strenght Drain: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
You must succeed on a ranged touch attack to strike a target. The subject takes a penalty to Strength equal to 1d6+1 per two caster levels (maximum 1d6+5). The subject's Strength score cannot drop below 1. A successful Fortitude save reduces this penalty by half. This penalty does not stack with itself. Apply the highest penalty instead.
DM-Kal |
Victor alone finds the cultist in the mist, blasting a ray at her in melee range. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to target her in the mist. Or even know where she was, necessarily.
Victor miss chance: 1d100 ⇒ 9
However, the mist obscures his vision and the ray flies off harmlessly. or hits Sarcon in the back, either way
The cultist shifts away from Victor into the mist and begins casting a spell.
Party Up!
Crystal Shalhoume |
Crystal will take out her rope and bind the two remaining cultists. To any watching her, she will shrug. "Seems like it's trial and error at this point. We might run out of that guy. Seems prudent to have some spares."
Crystal looks inside the hall to see what is happening to the cultist on the table.
Crystal Shalhoume |
Time to enjoy the show. Crystal approaches the altar, starting to chant in praise of Asmodeus as the cultist starts to slowly cook. "Lord of Darkness, grant us your wisdom with this offering to your glory. Grant us the power to bestow your gifts upon these lands, so that all may come to know your might and glory!"
DM-Kal |
While Sarcon demands answers, Crystal will sweep the room with Detect Magic, focusing on the properties of said magics.
All I can say is it is about. Dang. Time.
Crystal FINALLY searches the area for magic, uncovering a faint aura on the statue, a faint aura on the door, a faint aura on the table, and a moderate aura on the table.Kn(arcana)?
Crystal Shalhoume |
Crystal nudges Victor in the ribs, pointing to the table, door, and statue. "Figure out what that is!" In her irritated state, she is almost as demanding and blunt as Sarcon.
In the meantime, she will search over the statue itself, looking for anything that might detach or move. She does take the time to grin in amusement as the cultist reaches for his dagger. Big mistake there.
The Good Doc |
XD always expect the party to do the exact thing they are not to do and never expect the party will do that one thing their supposed to do :p
Assuming that Crystal will tell everyone what she is seeing, Doc will reply what do the auras look like? If you describe them i might be able to offer some insight.
K. Arcana aid another: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
you get +2 to your roll
Victoria Fate |
Fate will backhand him with her gauntlet. "Fool! You collapse to tears so easily. You vill need greater dedication than this if you are to defeat Fate."
Crystal Shalhoume |
Crystal will look to the Doctor. "I am not trained in the knowledge of identifying spells, though I suspect Victor is."
Crystal will continue to inspect the statue, looking for any part that might move.
She will chuckle as she witnesses Sarcon's dismemberment of the cultist's foot, and Fate's admonishment.
Victor Ravenport |
"Let me have a look for a moment.
Victor trails off as he casts Detect Magic again and uses a while to study each enchanted item.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26 For the door.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29 For the statue.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23 For the table.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14 For the table's stronger aura.
DM-Kal |
Victor easily determines that the door is sealed by abjuration magic, unlikely to be opened by mundane means.
Also, the statue appears to be using evocation magic to burn the offerings.
Finally, the table seems to be using divination magic to know the state of the offering, though it's unclear why a table needs to know anything at all.
The strongest aura on the table remains a mystery to him.
Crystal Shalhoume |
Crystal will again look into the magical properties of the table. Assuming Victor parlays the other three, she will only investigate the stronger aura on the table.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Crystal Shalhoume |
"I was going to suggest letting another cultist cook, and you jump up there right before I blast him with that fire spell that made the last one dissipate." She chuckles, shrugging. "But whatever works for you."
The Good Doc |
Teleports you say? I think i might have figured out how it works. It would appear that when something is placed on the altar, it will attempt to cook it, then scan or identify it to check its state, when it is deemed "ready" or "acceptable" it will then teleport it, most likely inside the altar.
Doc watches Sarcon as he clambers up onto the alter.
i think i know what must be done. Tho i am dread to do so, i may just have to die here. Ill let sarcon have his fun first...
