Wightscale grins
"Better late than never I warrant. So where's the gobbos? And what's with this fogbank?"
The kobolds continue to stream in, and some begin to edge around the fog, swords drawn.
2,500 posts!
Including the 2,500th which is invisible from where I am. Had to go to your recent posts page.

Sherekak and Sallistith each take a team of kobolds and head out. Wightscale looks at the rest."So where's the mine?"
"Same place as the Goblins I think," Karrin says, still pointing after the goblin.
"Is everyone ok in there?!" Karrin calls into the fog.
Meanwhile Greep continues to observe, knowing that the others will eventually be coming this way, he creeps closer for a better look.

Merle spends a minute or two trying to make sure the shaman is gone from the cloud.
Dungeon Monkey
"Are you sure the mine is that way? I thought Swift found it?"
I thought Swift has already been to the mine?
No she had been through the 1st gate to the Outlands, which you have already gone through. She decided not to go any further and was trapped there all night
Dungeon Monkey
Greep sees the goblins all dive into the portal, then the portal close with a *zap!*.
Greep CAN try and go with the gobbos, but that could be VERY hazardous to his health
Merle casts about in the fog, but can't find the shaman. Eventually the fog disperses. The kobolds go over the compound but find no gobbos. They do round up the captive kobolds, and there are many scenes of joyous reunions. Greep mentions he saw the shaman with the other goblins at the portal.
Wightscale addresses the party
"Well, the gobbos either went to the salt mine or the other portal. My money's on the other portal. None of my lads who were captured ever got to see what was on the other side of that one. They do say a white marble opens the salt mine portal through the cave opening. You cutters want to come with me and check it out?"
Dungeon Monkey
Wightscale grins
"Well cutters, let's take a look at what the gobbos found!"
Wightscale holds up a white marble and heads to the cave opening. He assembles a group of six kobolds, including Freggek as a guide. He leaves Sallistith behind and keeps Sherekak at his side.
"Do a quick run through of what we've got here and watch for that portal spilling out any fresh gobbos!" Wightscale warns the red-skinned lizardman
Wightscale holds up the white marble at the cave entrance. The portal snaps open with a wave of energy, revealing a white cavern beyond. The cavern ripples as if underwater. Wightscale has his minions go in first, following soon after.
Who's going, who's staying?

The group all feel that weird time dialation that a planar portal always causes. They stretch between dimensions and enter a cold dark cave.
The cave is large, roughly 200 feet on a side. The entire cave seems to be made of salt. Several tunnels branch out from it. There is a stack of picks and shovels and a mining cart on tracks.
Something about the cave is very creepy. everyone feels a sense of dread. There is a weird whistling in the background, almost like spoken words or a tuneless hum. The air is thin and dry, as if the group was at an enormous height.
Wightscale looks about and chuckles, a torch in his small albino fist.
"Well, looks like the gobbos have a nice set up here! All the salt they could ever want!"
Everyone is immediately VERY thirsty.

Ignoring the thirst for a moment Merle takes a minute to patch the herself and swift up with her healing wand.

"Maybe you Kobold should head back," Karrin says to white scale, "this salt could be fatal. We got some protective gear so we can last a bit . . ."
Wightscale laughs as he follows Freggek into the level tunnel.
"No worries! I just want to take a good look at the operations here. We'll be packing up soon enough.."
He disappears into the tunnel

Merle and Eir begin to explore the downward sloping tunnel. It descends at a roughly 20 degree slope. About 100 yards down, the tunnel suddenly opens up into a chamber. A few logs, now fossilized into salt bar the entrance. A piece of slate marked with some Goblin runes is hung on them:
Goblin:
In the flickering light the two can see a large shape of something embedded in the far wall.

Impression I have is Ein and Merle are much further away from Karin since she never said she was following us
Karrin would have followed the group, Greep is an investigator by nature, and swift is naturally inquisitive (perhaps too much for her own good). Seeing as those NPCs would have likely explored, and seeing as Karrin is protective by nature, it's highly likely that Karrin and Greep would have been with the others.
Actually I missed the part where you you guys advanced down a tunnel

Everyone please roll me a DC12 Fort Save. Those who have smeared the anti-dehydration ointment get a +2 bonus. Failure indicates rapid dehydration and 1d6 damage. (I'll let you roll it if that's the case)
The group members are pondering their next move at the fossilized logs, when they hear a faint screech from back where they were. Anyone still at the main cave can hear that the screech came from the level tunnel. The kobolds still in the main room rush to the tunnel.

Everyone crowds into the middle tunnel. About a half click down they find Wightscale leaning over Freggek, the kobold captive. Freggek is barely breathing and looks very gray-scaled. Several of his sores have opened and are crusted with salt and blood.
"This place is getting to him. It's time to pull out," Wightscale says authoritatively. His construct pal Clamps picks up Freggek and everyone makes their way back to the main room.
Actions?
Dungeon Monkey
Merle and Swift hurry up the upward-sloping tunnel. It twists and winds itself about a klick from the central room until it terminates in a solid door. The door is made of a black metallic substance, and it and its frame are circular, completely hugging the curved tunnel wall. The frame has a circle of strange silver runes running around its edge and there are three bolts of a crystalline material holding the door locked. The bolts look easy enough to unlock, just pull down and slide back. There is a large black ring pull that would seem to be the doorknob. It surely doesn't look goblin-like in nature.
