Chronicles of the Silver Rose Company

Game Master Patrick Curtin

This campaign is my attempt to play a canonical Planescape campaign using the updated Pathfinder ruleset. The game actually predates the release of Pathfinder, but we have managed to update as we have needed.

Lol. Karrin. I just see her now in full Tom Sawyer gig ripping a fence down

OI Karrin, every time.

I'm not sure where that metaphor was originally headed.
But I sure like where it ended up! :D

Sometimes even I'm shocked at the stuff coming out of her mouth.

Sovereign Court

Male hu-man Paladin

Knocking down fences, maybe it's work, maybe it isn't, all I can say is it suits Karrin Kind.

BWAHAHAHA!

I can just SEE the (blank) look on Merle's Feline Face! :D

With Seph nodding along on her shoulder, as if Karrin makes all the sense in the world to him. :P

Sovereign Court

Male hu-man Paladin

Karrin did say she couldn't explain it any simpler then that. Geez Merle, don't you speak common :P

Yeah, I love the reactions to the sh*t Karrin says as well.

OK.
Hamar is VERY quickly becoming the newest 'straight man' for the groups jokes.

O_o

Which is good. Because WHO is gonna argue with the guy?!?

:)

Busy with the college dance show load in today.
I'll be back (whats left of me) by the weekend. :)

If Karin is right, and she and Alessia dont need the hats, thats fine, but if the potions work on undead(?) I'd say still include them in that count, in case we need to pull a group 'vanish into the crowd' act. :)

Anyone else have any thoughts on that? Also include anything that you think we might need to buy/make/whatever. :)

Justin gonna get his 'makin magic items' on! ;P

(FINALLY! A use for that item creation feat!) ;)

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

I’m going to rule the potions do. Alessia is a full character, so I don’t want to handicap her. Also, Karrin is right. Tieflings and undead will be much more acceptable than humans or elves in Erelhei-Cinlu. Both are used extensively as mercenaries.

Now Renkar gave you carte blanche for the Portal , but buying a ton of magic items on the company dime might not sit well with him. Especially hats at 10,000 a pop. You guys did pick up quite a bit of treasure that you haven’t spent yet......j/s

Scarab Sages RPG Superstar 2009 Top 32

We still need all the magic items Identified too, so we know what we need to keep and what we need to sell.

LOL, true true, and Justin doesn't want Renkar mad at him.
He's pretty certain that Renkar is a lot more dangerous than he lets on. :P

So, we need to go back and find that list (That Pat has most graciously posted at least twice!) ;P

I thought we just did the magic item identify thing? Before our groups went to the library and portal shopping? Or did we get sidetracked and not finish? :P

Either way, identify, keep/sell, and then shop, and magic item mayhem time! :)

we have at least 3-4 days to 'burn', Justin can definitely scribe his spells and scrolls, and possibly brew a potion or 3 (with a certain Mimir's help maybe more) But that'll be too short a time to properly make a magic item Im afraid. At least multiple items, according to the time-required-per-1,000GP rule.

SO, make what we can, and go shopping for the rest! We can still use Lissandra to buy hats through if thats what we want to do, (Sounds like a good deal to me) we just have to spend our treasure instead of Renkar's coin. :)

Sovereign Court

Male hu-man Paladin

Well Renkar is someone Karrin respects, so that's saying something

Yeah lists have been posted, and we've supposedly done the identifying?, but we don't have descriptions yet of what we identified.

Cheers Pat.

Oi!
Thanks (Again) Pat!
:)

So,... Presume that we sell (Sold?) all of the mundane stuff.
Who wants dibs on the magical doo-dads?

They all look useful to me, depending upon your class and situation. :)

Justin is just now 'catching up' on his previous good luck with a ring. He'll go last-ish. :)

LOL, did KARRIN and Sophie just tell Justin to buy the hats on Renkar's coin? ;P

Karrin just did the opposite of that actually. She's saying that the team should pay for their own gear. If the party were soldiers, working for a patron or state, then they'd expect their employer to pay, but Karrin's saying the team are mercenaries, and thus they should pay for their own gear.

Oh yeah, Sophie totally did! She's broke af and owes money, so she wants magic stuff for free. lol

Normally I'd forego anything since my character wasn't with the party when they got it. However I'm not Sophie and she wants anything she can get her hands on that might increase her power.

With that in mind, the things she is most interested in are:
Any of the Rings (in order of "want" - Hamar's Ring, Ring of Protection +2, Ring of Spell Storing, Ring of Water Breathing)
Possibly the Cloak of Arachnidia

She also has a passing interest in looking over the Hieroglyphic Book as well. Maybe she can spend some long hard nights poring over it with Justin... ;)

Also, not sure if the Mummy Wrappings are non-magical or not? I'm assuming not, as I can't find any magic item called that, the closest I can find is a belt made of Mummy Wrappings, the Canopic Wrap.

Blayze Female Aasimar Gunslinger (Mysterious Stranger) 2/ Paladin (Holy Gun/Divine Hunter) 8

So the holster basically allows Quickdraw?

Holster is all yours, Sophie doesn't need it. :)

IIRC I think Justin kept the wrappings because they were covered in hieroglyphs and magical markings, sounded like something he could justify using to create a magical item.
NOW that I know there is an actual magical item based off them, I know where they're going! :) (Or I'll make up something similar myself!)

I'll try to look it up tonight, But I think your right, Holster allows quickdraw.

Oooh,... Yes, Hieroglyphic Book. That just screams 'Potential'
And 'Possibly Dangerous, Examine at Own Risk. Unless your name is Justin, then dive in!' :D
Justin will happily spend one of these 'evenings' working his way through the book with Sophie and/or Merle or whoever is interested in magical booky-ness. ;P

Yes ma’am

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

The wrappings are essentially non-magical, as in not a functioning magic item. However they do radiate necromantic energy. It might be possible to glean necromantic knowledge from studying the various glyphs on the wrappings. They might also be valuable to a necromancer or a Dustman. Tell me what you want done with them.

Female awww, but that would be telling unknown

Nari would like the bottle of air. Not so much because she'd personally attached to it, so she'll concede if someone else really wants it. She just thinks it would be wasteful not to keep such a useful item in the group. :)

I was only interested because they sound like something that Sophie would use.

Study is fine though, but if Justin does feel like experimenting with item creation, then I'm sure that there's something that Sophie could offer... ;)

Blayze Female Aasimar Gunslinger (Mysterious Stranger) 2/ Paladin (Holy Gun/Divine Hunter) 8

That's a funny item. Great for very early levels.

Never seen a gunslinger past level 4 who didn't already take quickdraw as a feat though, so I don't really have much use for it either. It's one of those class must-haves that everyone factors into their build from the start.

Hmmmm. Yeah I guess I didn’t think that throug. It sounded like something cool for your character. Is there a holster or other magical item you could use? I can always swap it out. Let me know

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

Well, I just made the decision to shutter all my other PbP games. Apologies if you were playing in any of them. I intend to continue this game, so no worries there. Now I can focus my scant time here. Thanks for 10 years and 15K posts of awesomeness

Hey no worries Pat! I completely understand. I've had to seriously consider dropping off the map entirely a time or two the last couple of years. :P

I'm glad/happy that you are planning to keep this game alive! Just re-reading some of the old posts makes me smile. :) Thank you for the effort that you put into it!

Thanks to ALL for 10 years of fabulous fun! And letting me be a part of it for the past few years! :)

I think that most of the items we should keep if possible. But I'm an OLD school gamer,
"Keep everything you find (Cuz we didnt used to get much) and you'll find a use for it eventually!" ;P

Justin might just have to take the 'wear 2 rings on each hand' feat (If it is still in the system?) as I hate the thought of giving up all those magical rings. OTOH, I think we have enough casters in the group that they should all be able to find a nice home. :)

Ooo! New magical item! "ROD OF MANY RINGS" Lesser, Standard, and Greater, you put the rings on the rod, and as long as you have it in hand you can access the rings powers. :) (OK, Yeah, save it for later) ;P

OK, Mummy wrappings, Justin will add them to his list of 'examine for knowledge at first opportunity' list, (With the other smart-folks help! As necromancy is not his specialty) And THEN turn them into a magic item when time allows. :)

Justin will be scribing those 'coin-scrolls' with the new spells into his book ASAP, then scribing them into scrolls again! The NEXT major encounter there will be multiple Fire/lightning blasts! :D

Who among the squishys doesnt have a ring of protection yet? Nari? Merle?

OK, more as I think of it. :P
Happy Friday to all!

Hey Justin, on the topic of extra rings Fun ring related 3rd party material by yours truly.

Hey that looks cool!
I think I may even have a coupel of bucks on my account on that website, I'll check when I get home. :)

I didn't realize that you did game design?
I like making stuff up, but I am not any good at making it 'balanced' or figuring the correct costs. ;P

Good! NOW I have another person to bug, erm, 'Get advice from' next time Justin wants to make a new item. :)

(J/K,... Mostly) ;)

Wow, Can't wait to see what Karrin tells, Or doesn't tell, the rest of the group about the meeting!
O_O

So much cool backstory-ness! :)

Thanks for keeping this game going Pat!

Blayze Female Aasimar Gunslinger (Mysterious Stranger) 2/ Paladin (Holy Gun/Divine Hunter) 8

Lol, thanks!

Oh and Patrick, looking it over, based on the description it would also let me reholster as a free action which is a step up from quickdraw so I can still benefit from it, and maybe even retrain the feat next time we level.

If you want to keep the holster that’s cool. You could swap it, and I’ll retcon if there’s something else you want, no worries

Yeah I’ve been trying to figure out the meta narrative for so many years now. Everyone has so many possibilities in my toolbox, but Ferissirion has been around since the beginning of the game almost. I think this is the first concrete evidence that Karrin has gotten that Ferissirion is more than just a magical weapon.

Well you know these heroic types from mythology, notoriously tight lipped. Might be hard to believe but Karrin's got some doozies she's been keeping to herself.

Well Karrin did find out that the runes on the axe are from frost giants. That's the last bit of lore she had. That combined with who her grandfather is (on her mother's side) led me to beleive a slightly different origin to the weapon.

Yup, and just like the Ring falling into Bilbo’s hand from Gollum, that random encounter was actually part of a larger plan.

Wow, went back and read a few pages,
That was fun! :)

This group has been kicking Arses and taking names, and treasure, for 10 years now!

COngrats again! :)

OK< busy as usual. ;P

What do we have left do as a group? (I'm easily confused, trying to keep track of our progress). ;P

-We have arranged transport and papers from Lissandra,
-We need to sell the treasure, and any magical stuff we decide to get rid of, (Can probably run that pretty quick, I'm sure Renkars gots contacts.) :)
-We need to pick up the magical items that we need as a group, I think the hats are a great idea, but maybe not everyone wants one?
-I think the potions of drow seeming are a brilliant backup plan. For escape or just milling and confusing the enemy if needed.

-We need to pick up and bury our friend, I'm thinking Ekuur will be happy to cremate, I mean perform the ceremony. :P

-Who needs /wants magic items? Shopping is great, but I picture Justin as being able to make a lot of stuff, (he has the feat for it!) :)
TIME is the problem, the rules make it take a day for each 1,000Gp in cost, and we just never get to rest! :) (Makes it exciting to be part of, but frustrating for the would-be creator!) ;P Maybe the alternate rules about creating while traveling? ;)

-Personally, Justin needs to do a lot of scribing INTO his spellbook, and then scribing scrolls, but I think that 1 day of not-being-attacked should be enough for him to get that done. :) Same with the potions, especially if Memnon is doing most of the potion-making.
(Justin Might make Memnon a 'Headband of Mage Hand' so he can mix the ingredients himself!) :D

Ooo,. and NOW we 'know' (or at least strongly suspect) that Justins past 'visits' from Psionic weilding critters are all connected to the Rod, AND the return of the dead power. And he would really like to throw THEM into a tizzy, so that is oneless group ganging up on us for what is likely to be a massive climatic battle! :D

Am I missing anything important? (I usually am) :)

DO NOT STICK FINGERS IN CAGE

If you want to take a quick handwaivable break to do some creation, we can do that. Bury Rhiannon and I’ll give you a few weeks to kick around Sigil. We can just agree to have the current adventure kind of go on ‘pause’. After this you guys will be on the move for a while.

As for selling, you can get 50% for any items you sell, but you can buy any other items for 75%. If you want to role play out something with that, there is a certain Mr. Swire who is making a name for himself in the item market....

There are a few loose ends and I’d like to get a headcount who’s still hanging about. A few folks have gotten quiet. Also, if you want to do something in Sigil, or explore, or buy something let me know. This is my one game now, so I can run several parallel storylines if anyone wants to wander off.

Alessia is probably going to lay low (avoiding certain clerics of Pelor at all costs) for the time being, at least until she has a chance to chop someone into small pieces without getting on anyone's bad side. She's waited a couple centuries, so a couple more weeks shouldn't be a big deal.
