Anody presses the button. Nothing happens for a moment, then there is a noise like small bells. The front of the slate glows, and a picture of a young man and women appears, sitting in a strange garden. The woman has the same blue tracery R6 had. A glowing button superimposes over the picture.
if pressed a moving image appears on the slate. The same couple are sitting on the floor. Both look in pain, and smoke is in the air. The man is semi concious. The woman speaks.
sorry guys, interlude. Something has come up. I'll finish this in a couple of hours. :/

Continuing
The slate then goes back to the original picture, with small squares littered over it. Each square has an icon. Obviously buttons to push.
Anody Gearon, Prof.
Nivi Bleach Me it still works and the pictures they move! Anody gasps as he angles the slate so that everybody else can see.
A recording device... that can capture visual scenes as well as sound and then play them back? This is marvelous. The woman... she looks like Ardash! and what she's saying... My word I believe this device and these beings are from when Silver Mount fell from the sky! The Rain of Stars! This is Ancient and this.. place.. it was a part of the Silver Mount but broke away when it fell from the sky! And what she's saying about what happened. This was a ship that fought in the stars with some other ship from some star empire and it lost and crashed here in Golarion. This is wondrous information!
What do the other icons look like? I'm thinking everybody will want to roleplay playing with the iPad for a bit :)
Sharae of the River
"How sad their story is, Professor...just look at the pair, they seem so happy...for their journey to end here; unheralded, unburied...I wonder if anyone ever mourned their passing", Sharae sits quietly in reverence with the long mummified bodies.
After a while, she asks Anody a series of questions, "Can you find out any useful information from that thing? Any maps? Indications of survivors? Ways to stop those chambers from gassing and electrocuting us?"
Anody Gearon, Prof.
Anody's a bit startled by where Sharae's mind went which was so different from his own. Hrm.. yes. The starfight and then the crash itself must have been a traumatic experience. I suppose at least they did not die alone.
Criek Prisil
Peering over Anody's shoulder at the screen, A ship--we're in...a star ship?! I know the tales of Silver Mount, but I never thought I'd see one myself! Oh, I do hope we find Khonnir soon -- no doubt he's found wondrous things in here! ...Er...if he's...still alive.
After a moment's pause, turning to Sharae, These people--perhaps you can you say some rites for them? It seems no one else must have been able to do it properly, with them so lost?
chillblame
The slate clears, and a picture of a spiral mass of stars appears. This fades to the following words
There is also now a cog symbol and an arrow pointing to the slates left at the bottom of the screen
Criek Prisil
"Truly this is a wondrous device, though I confess to only understanding fragments of what it is saying." marvels Criek.
"perhaps try that symbol that looks like a book and pen? Maybe it will turn this device into some sort of journal or logbook that will tell us more of what has happened here?"

the slate
To fully understand the slate will take a DC 30 know engineering check. But to use its functions is a DC20 check each, but will take about an hour each function.
The functions are
A book and pen
A note book function, allowing the taking of notes and memos. Also it includes an organiser.
A map and sextent
This is a large group of planetary maps of planets the starship visited. Each system and planet is given a numeric code.
A cross (maltese style)
A large listing of strange creatures from other worlds. Also if use to scan, more creatures can be added. +4 to know rolls to identify monsters, but takes a standard action
A cogwheel
The slates settings. The power supply is nearly empty. You think it needs a new battery
A rectangle with tiny letters on it
An email function. Not a lot of use as there is currently no one to send to.
A heart
A square with math symbols on it.
This is a calculator, with many functions you don't understand (heck, I still have problems with calculus)
A folder
stored files. This seems to be all the information files stored. Seems incomprehensible for now, but may be of great use.
Anody Gearon, Prof.
Taking my loremaster 20 for the day to get over DC 30 You're right Criek that icon is to make this into a journal... And look the map is a map of the stars, the cross will help us examine the creatures that we see... and I believe this one is meant to...
Anody quickly goes through and explains what he thinks each icon does.
Go ahead and unspoiler that guys
Anody will join Valia in examining the pillar. Engineering: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25

Chill. Can Anody tell if the silver discs can be used as a battery for the slate. As well I think for the cross it'll take Anody an hour to figure out how it works but then once that's done he can scan as a standard action.
Sharae of the River
Whilst the professor continues to examine the technological marvels within the room, Sharae examines the doors that lead from the strange place. Listening at each door, she wonders whether they are alone in this place.
Sharae, Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Anody Gearon, Prof.
Anody puts the slate away if no one else wishes to look at it. The poor thing is almost out of charge. Until we find a way to repower the silver discs that they run on we should be sparing in our use of it and the chain sword. Can't determine the purpose of this pillar flux capacitor device but it shouldn't be dangerous and maybe is the device that will stop the dammed juju coming back. Either we press it or we explore a bit further.
Valia
will save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Valia does not push the hand-sized button.
Instead, he finds a corner in the main room to sit down, and begins sketching rudimentary studies of the Skulks and their home cavern. (just practicing for the final product.)
painting: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
"I am inclined to explore this cavern to its extent before we attempt to rejoin the natural world. We can take our time, though. We shan't be seeing the fiend for another day or so, or so I would hope."
Anody Gearon, Prof.
If we do not find some other way to put the juju down before we call it a day I suggest we press the button. I do not want to meet that monstrosity again and am more than willing to risk pressing the button to ensure that. The log of the travelers indicate that the lady released some 'kalasta'. She may be talking about the creatures that have been warped into jujus and skeletons somewhere in the thousands of years. Sharae. Do you wish to do something for them?
Sharae of the River
"There is little to be done for this pair Professor, I have prayed for their peace and for their journey into the next life. They died far from home but they died together... I hope they were able to comfort each other in those final hours... As to the 'Kalasta', if that is what they are - if something is bringing them back; stopping the cycle of death and undeath would be the humane thing to do...I just don't know how, not yet anyway", Sharae moves away from the bodies and over to the pillar, "Any ideas? What do you think it does? Maybe it is something to examine later? Should we press onwards?"
Anody Gearon, Prof.
No idea unfortunately other than pressing this should not pose any immediate danger to us. I would say we should open the other doors and if we do not find any other way to keep the undead from coming back we should press this one. I would say we should move on for now
Sharae of the River
GM - I think the consensus is to move on however the map, as you have it, doesn't show any doors coming from the room - are there some but they are just covered by your 'spoiler' boxes...or is this a dead end?
Sharae of the River
So, I am a little confused around maps, corridors and possible ways forward therefore I am happy for someone else to suggest which direction we go next / or for the GM to railroad...
chillblame
choo, choo, all aboard. Actually these adventures initially are fairly railroaded, but they get more sandbox like in later modules-I promise
The party troops on to the door on the right. This door is made of the same silvery material the others were, but are larger, consisting of two doors which probably slide apart. There is a card holder, but like the prior door no light is showing, and putting a card in has no reaction.
Sharae of the River
Thanks GM – much clearer now – I was totally thrown by there being a link to a ‘Science Deck’ map on our Campaign Tab…I wasn’t sure whether I’d somehow missed something and we were on that map
Slightly disappointed that the cards no longer seem to work, ”Valia? Could you try and open those doors? I can try to help with pushing them apart…”, Sharae stands ready to push against one of the doors…
Readied Action for Sharae, Aid Another (Strength Check): 1d20 ⇒ 15
Sharae of the River
Sweating at the effort and becoming quite frustrated at the lack of progress, "Shall we try the other doors then?", Sharae points at the doors straight ahead of them.
...although I Suspect someone is going to have to press that damned button before we are done here....
Does the door to the north have a keycard slot?
Sharae of the River
Yep, those woud be the doors to the north that Sharae was talking about...when you say partially open, do you mean open enough to squeeze through - I did make a pretty poor Perception roll at the doors some posts back...
Those are the doors we need to get through - either by card, squeezing through partially opened or by forcing...whichever works...
Criek Prisil
Those doors must be where the juju came from? asks Criek quietly. Since he's dead, er, again, it should be safe...?
He creeps ahead to peer through the slightly opened doors
stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21

Imbuing her starknife with Desna's light, Sharae slides it through the gap in the doors... Listening for any reaction, she waits for a moment...

...before squuezing her way through the doors into the room beyond...

A large metal table is surrounded by odd-looking chairs in this
room. To the west, what appears to be a transparent wall looks
out over a strange desert valley. Four pillars support the fifteenfoot-
high ceiling, while dozens of crude images of a pickaxe
made of a skull and bones have been painted onto the walls with some sort of ivory pigment along with several phrases in
an unrecognizable language. On the wall opposite the transparent wall you see pictograms drawn in the same ivory pigment.

Holy s%+!, my gunslinger would kill to have those rolls. Poor girl's never crit :(. I think the rolls mean that Anody can unspoiler everything right? Even without a Comprehend Languages?
