Reavis tells everyone what he knows about the Shifting Runes. Everyone please read the spoiler.

Kivuli slides around the fountain and approaches the blue glowing rune. He considers his options before taking decisive action.

Reavis quickly identifies the protective Runes. He relays to everyone that in addition to causing distraction to creatures interacting with it; a shifting rune can be attuned to a single magical trap. It can change the position of the trap and trigger it. Additionally, no resistances per se but does have swarm traits and construct traits.
Kivuli rushes forward and begins attempting to disable the runes, he makes significant progress, but realizes it is a complex task.
Requires a number of successes to fully disable...2 of x success completed.
Ranalus
|
Do we need to have trapfinding to use Disable Device on the runes? Or can anyone with the skill use it?
Ranalus and Reavis have good Disable but not trapfinding, so they can't normally do magical traps. This scenario may have different rules.
If Ranalus can't use Disable, he'll use another skill.
Ranalus tries to undo the runes' magic.
Disable: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (17) + 13 = 30

@All - please be so kind as to move your pawns on the map, if you can't because of the device you are using just let me know.
From your starting location you couldn't make it to the runes in a single move, and it requires a standard to make a skill check to disable and you must be adjacent to the runes to do so. I know the starting points were somewhat subjective, but in the long run I don't think this will actually end up mattering.
So I moved you within a 5' step away and we'll say you cast Detect Magic granting you a plus +2 next turn...will go ahead and use your roll for your turn 2 if you wish (see below).
Anduris rushes forward but can't seem to figure out the detailed patterns of the runes. Crios moves forward and casts detect magic as well.
With all the negative attention the runes set off a magical trap, engulfing everyone but Kivuli in a waves of hot flames and while the flames feel incredibly hot for a moment, when they subside you feel more spent than burnt.
nonlethal fireball: 6d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 6, 2, 4, 3) = 22
Each take 22 nonlethal fire damage, DC 16 Reflex save for half damage
The runes then swirl and move forward surrounding Ranalus and Anduris in a swarm of bright lights.
nonlethal swarm damage: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 6) = 12
Ranalus and Anduris take 12 nonlethal and must make a DC 14 Fort Save against distraction or you are nauseated for 1 round
Now next to the runes and armed with knowledge from the detect magic Crios uses his arcane knowledge to further disarm the runes.

You work as a group, cooperating in unison, and quickly disable the magical wards, luckily Nigel had set them up to disable and subdue intruders or it could have been quite deadly. After tending to your nonlethal wounds you are ready to enter the museum proper.
Out of Combat 14 of 10 successes! Well done, your group was well suited for that encounter.

Forgot a couple things above -- Fire Resistance does work/SR does work against the trap.
SR Check v. DC10 on Anduris: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Adjust accordingly - Anduris takes no damage from the fireball.
Also don't forget: Healing Nonlethal Damage: You heal nonlethal damage at the rate of 1 hit point per hour per character level. When a spell or ability cures hit point damage, it also removes an equal amount of nonlethal damage.
Kuriq

Kuriq thanks Ranalus for the healing, and then firmly draws upon his own wand of cure light wounds to also tend to himself. He wounds nearly heal completely but is left with a little scar, to remind him of his carelessness. He then turns to the party to offer help, "Anyone else needs assistance of curing?"
A little while later, Kuriq turns to the closest person of authority around the museum, and enquires if the guard animals need be alive if they are causing a problem.
Kuriq will cast bless upon the party before dealing with said animals.

Ranalus and Kivuli manage to spot a well hidden feline form among the displays.

Crios' fill in the blank
turn spells cast on you into benefits.
Dwoemercat are quite magical and have a spell link special ability, that lets them as a swift create an effect based on the type of spell cast against it. For example, if a abjuration is cast on the cat, before the spell effects it, it gains acid, cold, fire, electricity, or sonic resistance equal to 2 per spell level for 1 minute. And many other annoying and glorious things.
The Dwoemercat momentarily seems excite to talk to Crios and begins moving toward the magus, but then perhaps his enthusiasm is a bit off putting to the magical beast or maybe he does like the sound of his voice, and he turns away, looking over his shoulder.
That sounds like a story a bunch of intruders would make-up if they wanted to get away with something. I suppose I'll have to tear you to bits, it was my deal with Nigel after all.
It's clear it will take more to convince the guard of your intentions.
Ranalus

Ranalus looks somewhat annoyed at having to prove himself.
"I've helped out Nigel before. Happy to do so again. We have a note from our venture-captain, if that matters. Do you wish to test our expertise as Pathfinders? Might that convince you we are genuine?
Or do you wish us to cast a few spells on you?"
Crios Greymantle
|
Still thrilled to be in the presence of such a rare creature, Crios is undaunted, "Oh how silly of me. Of course you should be suspicious under circumstances such as these."
Nodding along with Ranalus as he explains things further, Crios interjects when an idea crosses his mind, "I know! Come along and keep an eye on us. If you really must kill us, you can always choose to do so later just as well as you can now! This way there doesn't need to be a rush to judgement, and we have a chance to prove ourselves! This chance encounter has been more meaningful to me than you know. I always believed Count Ranalc was no more; but despite his disappearance, you've cast a spell in his power, contradicting claims of his demise. And your choice as opened up my ability to see you more truly.
He begins to lick his paw, very relaxed now. Good luck Pathfinders. I believe the relics you will enjoy.
Congrats..another success.

You head back to the room behind you, the Dwoemercat pads quietly behind you watching you as you go.
Under a sign that reads “The Shining Armory,” priceless Shining Crusade artifacts displayed on pedestals creak and move by some unseen force. Eerie light seems to dart between the objects while the din of a raging battle echoes throughout the chamber. The central feature is a low, artificial hill atop which stands a stuffed owlbear surrounded by shattered undead foes. The beast wears chainmail barding and an orange-and-black caparison depicting a stylized owlbear. A dead man dressed in furs lies on the floor before a suit of full-plate armor.
