Sensing the flaming sphere approaching him, Hikari hops out of the way just in time. Grunting in frustration at the giant frog blocking his way, Hikari attempts to shoot at the chieftain from over the head of the beast.

Kind of messy but it crits, total damage = 9+8+14=31, otherwise just 9.

Corrella cast flare on the Chieftain, dazzling the Chieftain. Fuzzfoot gets further into the action. Hikari's first arrow is off the mark as he tries to fire around the frog, but he corrects his aim and puts the next shot right into the ape-man's eye socket. The chieftain teeters and opens himself up to Mykel's blade which finishes him off. The frog suddenly disappears. All around Pathfinders and Aspis are finishing off ape-men. With the gap closed in the wall, it seems the threat has been finally been defeated, but the howls of more ape-man outside says otherwise, soon the sounds of the ape-men climbing the walls can be heard.

Okay decision time, the scenario gives you 5 rounds to prepare for the next wave, which contains you guessed it 2 ape-men, a chieftain, and a tiger. So I'll be glad to run the combat for you all if you want or I can just describe what happens. Ya'll make the call.

Hikari pauses to catch his breath, then quickly approaches Mykel to examine their wounds.

Do you have a wand of clw? If not, you can use mine.

Assuming we go into combat, Hikari's divine favour would have expired and so he would re-cast it. And activate his wand of heightened awareness to get the init bonus.

Corrella pauses her playing to come check on the others and assist with treating any wounds they may have.

"This is getting annoying. You would think with their champion laying lifeless on the field of battle they would be hesitant to press the attack."

I vote for the overview. I expect we will make quick work of them all together anyway... Fuzzfoot still has a lot of bombs, and would drink his heightened awareness and reduce person extracts to gain even more advantage.

"Maybe they just haven't yet realized they have lost. Too bad that big construct went away - I think a few well placed blows from that thing would have convinced them very quickly."

Okay overview it is!

Haggard yet determined, the defenders ready themselves for another assault, a few take the time to piling wrecked logs around Raimondo's wrecked cart to prevent the ape-men from entering that way, but soon a horn sounds from the west side of the camp, and then the east, and then from the tower. The lookouts shout, They’re coming over the walls! and the camp’s defenders run to meet the charge. You find yourselves confronted by yet another chieftain, (How many tribes of ape-men are there!) and his tiger companion who leaps over the wall. More ape-men too. Corrella continues to spur on all the surrounding defenders, finding herself in fine voice, and adding dazzling flares just at the right moments. The tiger falls victim to Fuzzfoot's bombs while, Hikari's arrows keep the chieftain from bringing more threats into the battle. Mykel continues to take down ape-men with the surgical precision of his falcate strikes. All around the other camp defenders make a desperate stand against the ape-men. And soon the efforts pay off as more ape-men lie dead all around the camp.

A ragged, much more muted cheer goes up from the camp’s exhausted defenders. The wounded and dead are treated and gathered up. But only a short-while later the guards in the tower sound their horns, and point at the cliff that looms over the south end of the dig. What's left of the ape-men are trying to decent the sheer cliff and assault from behind. The exhausted camp rallies once more and you begin making use of even more of the arrows and bolts you brought. Ape-men begin to fall from the rock, most from the projectiles, but others from simply loosing there grip on the difficult climb. Those that do reach the ground are quickly finished off by the resolve of the camp defenders or die from the chaotic rain of shrieking ape-men landing on them from a fall. And with that the Battle for Azlant Ridge is won!

About the 3rd wave:

The third wave included 4 more of the smaller ape-men to fight, but it said make it fast and help the ape-men die in no more than a round or two...been there, didn't see a reason to play it out.

In the aftermath, with the ape-men and their champion defeated, the remnants of the ape-men flee back into the jungle, giving the excavation site its first relative peace in 10 months. But with most of the camp either wounded or sick, Juliet fears she may have to bury the site and take the key with her back to Absalom.

Thank you all so much, without your help this day I fear we would all be dead. I owe you my life. My chronicle report will be sure to note that the success at Azlant Ridge exploration was due in no small part to your efforts.

Raimondo's smile is the biggest, Did you see what I did! He gloats.

Juliet gives the surviving Aspis agents, her thanks and then gives them till morning to rest and then vacate her camp. The Aspis grumble about it, but leave as they were told to. You wonder if there is hope for future cooperation with the snakes; at least for one day it was possible when united in a common cause.

Over the next several days, Juliet guides the camp through packing and loading the caravan wagons to head for the coast and catch a vessel bound for Absalom. She packs away the key and the monolith control device and has the camp workers bury all signs of their dig, including triggering a rock fall to rebury the door to the Azlanti complex.

As you get underway to leave, Juliet looks back fondly. I hope to return here again someday! She says with a glimmer of hope.

Corrella ends her inspiring performance with a final flourish and turns to address the Aspis agents. "Thank you all. Without your assistance we surely would have all died here this day."

Corrella assists with cleaning up the encampment and preparing to return. "You have done well here Juliet. I wish you the very best on your return journey. If you should require our assistance in the future please don't hesitate to ask."

Hikari gives Juliet a deep bow as the party makes ready to depart. "It was honor fighting beside you, and a pleasure to have made your acquaintance." He stops to look around the dig side. "I am filled with sorrow that such magnificent work you've done so far has to be abandoned. But I trust not for long."
