I'll be back to civilisation again tomorrow and not using a phone for keeping up with games... that will be a nice change.
After getting my 5th Star in Pathfinder I found myself waning a little, it was like the crazy train push to 5 left me a bit empty afterwards - the 'what next?' - well so it turns out THERE ARE FIVE NOVAS TO GET!!!
Time to Shifty into space!
I'm not taking sign ups or jump ins or anything yet, but I'll be home in about 24 hours and will start opening a couple of tables, MOST likely 1:02 Fugitive (because I'm running it at a con so a good chance to read up)

Oh, thank you! I'm in for this one and signed up on the list. But isn't this the scenario with the 4th level pre-gens? We don't bring our own characters, do we? I named my -02 character on the list, as I'd like the credit to go toward that one (and I won't play her in any games until this pbp game is complete).

That is correct. This is a prequel of sorts to The Year of he Scoured Stars that uses Level 4 Pregenerated characters that can be found: HERE. It works as a good introduction to the game.

Awesome! Didn't realize that the pregens were out there to download, thanks for the link. I'm eager to try out a 4th level character in the game.

Pick me! I’m awesome!

Oh Besmara, if I had only checked on this thread a day earlier I would have found the #1-02 that I needed! xD
Level 2 Ysoki Ace Pilot/Mechanic here looking for #1-02 Fugitive on the Red Planet and also possibly the Dead Suns Adventure Path. I can do Play-by-Post or VTT so if I sound like what you're looking for, don't hesitate to hit me up in my messages! :)
GM Sedoriku
Takes a deep breath before releasing it:
"Hello there everyone! Did you miss your chance to sign up for SFS 1-02:The Fugitive of the Red Planet? Wanting to explore the wastelands that is most of Akiton? Curious as to what the eponymous fugitive is up to? Don't mind working with a new PBP GM? Well then step right up and oput yopur name on this list right here! We'll be starting in slightly over a week!"
Spacefarer Redelia, Mind if I poach Fuskee? Assuming he's okay with someone new to GMing PBP, of course. :D

If Redelia's spot opens up I might just jump in to fill their group up but if they don't need a mercenary to fill their team I would be more than happy to join your group Sedoriku. :) No problem with a new PbP GM either, I'm a newbie PbP GM as well so I don't mind helping and figuring out the best way to handle Starfinder PbP.
I think I remember you mentioning being worried about Space Combat, it's pretty easy to pick up and if you just bundle all the phases into one turn it doesn't take as long as most people think.
Azih
That's actually an interesting discussion. The way GM Poblano's PBP for Claim to Salvation, which I'm in, just handled it was to bundle the Helm and Engineering section into one. We still had to move the ships in reverse initiative order though before the Gunners could take their shots.
So we managed to collapse it from three phases into two. Did you have an approach streamline it even more Fuskee?
GM Sedoriku
No worries, Fuskee, they did offer first!
I've seen a couple of suggestions for star ship combats including: collapsing the first two actions together, collapsing the last two, having a round go all at once and even having everyone give multipliers and a general course of action they take and then have them take turns to post a whole rounds worth of actions. I've played through two styles and we'll be trying the last one soon, but mostly I'm not sure about the time it'll still take, and didn't want to have to handle it the first time out the gate. Maybe later when there isn't a set end date.

I'm Navaso, Azih. :P Honestly I think we can bundle it all into one turn but since this seems to be working for Poblano I didn't want to suggest more changes. Basically I would just have the gunners do their attack rolls and pick an order of importance, like Gunner #1 and Gunner #2, then depending on how movement goes those shots can just go off depending on what guns are available. It takes a lot of the RP and flavor out of the space combat but it's just so difficult to do in a PbP fluidly that we should really just leave most of the rolling to the GM and just give our stats/actions.
So basically:
Captain: I want to Motivate Gunner #1 (roll)
Engineer: I want to Patch/Divert (roll)
Science: I want to Scan (I guess this COULD make a little difference as to who you want to target if you're the turret gunner)
Gunners: Decide gunner order and just roll your attack, then the GM can roll damage. (May need to decide who you want to attack depending on number of ships but mostly that is only the turret gunner who can decide beforehand since they can target anything.)
Fuskee

Thanks Redelia! I will go with Sedoriku then.
Zahir: Well the pilot is the only one that really needs to wait to see if they get to move first or not, but really nothing should matter between phases other than the position of weapons after the pilot moves and you could just assign your gunners in order of importance to whichever guns can fire that round.
GM Khaoz

@Zahir and Fuskee: What I did for my PbP, was roll for all Pilots involved in combat. That way if the PCs won, they didn't have to wait for me to move, and if the all enemies won, I only had to delay for the Pilot before Gunnery, but everyone else already knew they were moving first.
In the event of a mixed result, waiting for both sides to move was still a bit slow, but the rest of the Party had a sense of the way the round was going to go.
The hardest part for Space Combat in PbP, I believe is the lack of 'instant' communication, like you'd get IRL.

@GM Sedoriku,
Hi, I put my name down on your sign-up sheet for Fugitive on the Red Planet. Very excited to play!! Just wanted to reach out to you and warn you that I am a complete newbie to PbP and that it has been 20+ years since my last tabletop RPG experience (AD&D 2nd Ed. was the last system I played, to give you an idea how long it's been). I've been looking for a long time for a good time to jump back into a role-playing game and Starfinder seems like the perfect opportunity.
I have been thoroughly studying up with the CRB, and I feel I have a pretty good grasp on the system, so hopefully I should be able to keep up with the group.
Thanks in advance, can't wait to get started!

That's no problem! Actually most of my experience GMing has been with people who have little to no table top experience. :D
