Nexus was out of his mind- he'd never been in anything like this, but singing always kept him clear.

Singing out in distress, Nexus swiped the blade down at the woman again, he landed a minor cut along her arm.

"Rraaaagghh" She surged forward in a rush, swimming around behind him, grasping at his legs as she pulled herself up along Nexus.

Grapple: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17

Nexus, she is provoking two attacks of opportunity. One as she moves past you, and another as she Grapples you. Also, what feats do you have? You should have 3 at this point. They weren't on your character page.

Marco kept searching the database on the computer he was working on.

He found several more interesting things of note while looking.

First, he found he had a limited amount of control over the remaining emergency power and where it flowed. He found he could reroute the gravity control from one floor to another.

He also found there was a priority setting on keeping power flowing to deep cryo.

He also saw that somebody was activating a console in the labs.

Calista activated the console and found there were several options on the console.

Cryo pod status:
Communications:
Emergency Lockdown:
Deck Plan:

Xander began to examine the extent of the damage on the second generator. Wires were strung out and and paneling seemed to have been removed from several sections. The oil seemed low and fuses seemed like they needed to be replaced.

Fortunately Xander seemed to know exactly what to do and had most of the tools to do so. It would take him somewhere around 30 minutes to repair the secondary generator. He just had to hope whatever had happened to the last person in this room, didn't happen to him.

Human

Xander grit his teeth against the feeling of unease he felt bubbling in his stomach and forced it down. He set himself so he could work and keep an eye on the tear in the floor at the same time, before blocking out everything but the damage and the possible threat. He began to work.

Clara made her way over to the door and found that it was unlocked.

Security system override. Access granted. The door opened to reveal a spacious area beyond. It appeared to be a recreational room. Workout equipment was placed around various areas, several tables sat off to one side, several cups sat abandoned on it. A counter top with what appeared to be a small bar sat behind it. She could just make out a set of small lockers around a corner in what she presumed was a changing room.

A water cooler was next to the tables and a sitting area with a couch sat around a large screen monitor with a disc player.

There were three other doors leading out of the room. 2 were marked she assumed led to bathrooms. While the third led out to another area.

Clara headed straight for the lockers. She searched through to try and find something useful. Well, at least some clothes.

taking 20 on searching the lockers, don't want to miss anything important

Male Human Rogue/3

As Marco read the screen his memories came back in a click. It was rather anticlimactic, but Marco was just relived to have his memory back. "Lets see here if I am in the sub-station that should be here." He mumbled as he pointed at the maps bottom deck. "Hmmm...Maybe I can send out a signal of some kind to alert any near by ship to our area." He then remembered Nexus was in a situation so was Xander for that matter. He wasn't fond of them or anything, but he did think they could be useful at some point. So he decided to check in and see if they were Ok. "Nexus, Xander. How are things going with you two?"

Human

Xander pulled the radio out of his belt and pinned it between his head and shoulder, with the button pressed so he could speak. "Currently working on fixing a generator. Not gonna say where. If I don't reply, I've gone the way of the blood smear. Gods have mercy!" He lifted his head and the radio floated away a little before stopping at the extent of its wire.

Male Human Rogue/3

"Follow the blood smear?" Marco mumbled to himself, brow furrowed. He heard nothing from Nexus so he assumed he had his radio off. He felt a little bad for Xander...But he would not be following any blood smears if he could help it. Though he then remembered that Nexus said he was in the communal showers so that would put him on the top deck. "Xander! I have a map in front of me so I can give some direction. I know where Nexus is he is on the top deck. You may want to give me the room your in so I can tell you what deck your on and the rooms around you."

Human

He put the screwdriver between his teeth and pulled the mic back down to him, by the cord, before tucking it between his head and shoulder again. He went back to fixing the Generator. "I'll give you my location in awhile. Right now I am exposed and don't want to take the chance that anybody apart from us can hear this. Let me fix this thing before I give you it. I have some stuff to do here first. Thanks Marco!"

Male Human Rogue/3

What Xander said made sense. As Marco hovered there thinking about his next move, he got a thought. that maybe he could move some of the energy reserves around to places that needed the most. "Hmmmm...Let's see here." Marco said as he looked at the ship diagnostics.

Male Human Rogue/3

Marco then made a decision. first he tried to send out some sort of distress signal. Next He could not remember exactly who the deep cryo pods held but maybe they would be of some use. So he decided to take as much energy as he could and see if he could power up the engine room on the bottom deck.

Minor mistake earlier, the bonuses she had were not that high due to the fact she was prone. She will not successfully grab you.

Nexus was in a flurry now. He desperately stabbed and cut at the woman in the water with all he had as she grabbed a hold of him. He landed another cut on her arm as he threw her back, which caused a small spray of blood to land on him.

She hissed in pain as she fell back into the water. Then she scrambled back and away from him about 20 feet before crouching in the doorway facing him. She was blocking his only way out.

While Clara was searching in the room, she heard the emergency warning signal go off before the yellow lights began to flash and a booming voice filled her entire level.

"WARNING!! Power shut down imminent! Power levels being transferred!
WARNING!! Power shut down imminent! Power levels being transferred."

Then the emergency lights began to shut off. One by one. They all closed off.

The last thing that happened, was that the gravity also turned off.

Clara, things you found before the power went off:
Several pairs of shorts, several t-shirts, a sports bra, 3 water bottles, (2 full, 1 empty) 2 gym bags, 2 pairs of running shoes (2 men 1 woman's size), 3 towels, a clipboard and pen with a two week check list.

Marco hear a booming voice on his level of the ship.

"Power levels, resuming normal function. Warning! Gravity levels returning to normal! Repeat. Warning! Gravity Levels returning to normal."

As the voice spoke, Marco saw light begin to turn back on. There were no more dark areas in the room he was in as many fluorescent lights resumed functioning and the red glowing emergency lights shut down.

The last thing to happen was the gravity returned to normal on Marco's level of the ship, as he slowly sunk down to level ground.

Male Human Rogue/ 3

I'm a little f*#%ing busy here, Marco, just, you know, dealing with a crazy g!@ d%$ned woman.

Nexus wiped the blood and laughed- his heart had started to adjust to this current heart rate. He looked at the girl with a glare

I'm going to guess there isn't much sanity left in you to hear me, but god, I've always wanted to monologue

Assume after each space Nexus moves forward 5 feet. If his move action is spent, he just stands in one spot while talking to the crazed woman

In chess there are only two reasons an opponent retreats. Same in military tactics.

Either they are planning an ambush of some sort to trap someone in their area, or...

Nexus grinned- why was he talking to a crazy person?

Because dominance... feels good... And I'm winning. Nexus reassured himself.

They are weak, frail, and just waiting, praying that their opponent is merciful in setting up their check mate. Nexus adjusted his glasses up his nose, pressing them closer to his face I am not going to be merciful, and I'm not going to run. Let's FINISH THIS!

Nexus will stop five feet in front of her, should he be allowed to move, so as to not activate any AoO

Female Human Investigator-Sleuth 3

Clara had just finished gathering everything useful in the lockers she could find when loud noises blared from the speakers.

C$@%!!, who in the hell did that

Then the lights started turning off and her heart started beating faster. As soon as she found herself in complete darkness she felt herself starting to lose contact with the ground.

Despair, fear, and anger filled her entire body.

She knew there were other people in cryo pods who would start waking up. She just didn't know who they were. If she believed in a God this is where she would have started praying.

She got clenched the pen she found from the clipboard,

just in case those people arent friendly at least i can....have a pen to ....I'm doomed ....maybe one of these other lockers will have something more useful...

Clara will continue searching lockers, going even slower now because of darkness

Haha That is going to be amazing because she will literally have no idea what is in the lockers. I mean she can feel around inside of the locker, but things could float out by her and she wouldn't know, because of the Zero-G. Haha Poor Clara. I hope she lives!

Xander gripped the screwdriver between his teeth again and pulled a wrench out of the kit, which he kept almost wholly closed and stuck in to his coat, so it would not float away. "If I make it through this God, I swear I will stop hanging around in seedy bars and seducing chicks with boyfriends. Well... I swear to try at least. Okay I won't shoot anybody any more, fare enough?"

He slipped the bolts in to a zip pocket on the jacket, carefully, not letting any of the screws float out as he did. He pulled off the paneling he had just loosened and clamped it between his chest and arm, before taking a peak inside. The wiring was in shambles... He was going to have to get creative.

"Okay, I will also stop running red lights. And I will give to the poor!"

I'm just gonna intersperse some cuts of Xan fixing the thing, as I assume I am kinda gonna be here for awhile. Ha!

The woman stood, then she jumped at him.

Unfortunately yes, Xander. Thanks for playing up the part though. It all adds to the story and makes for a great narrative. On the plus side, you only have a few things to worry about.

Marco was surprised since he did nothing with the gravity setting. It was kinda nice floating around.

Nexus stabbed at her. He struck deeply into her shoulder. Then she was on him. It was a lot harder to get her off now that she had a good hold of him, he couldn't get any good momentum on his blade.

The first thing he realized was that she was a lot stronger than he was, but she was wild rather than utilizing her strength to pin him down, she trying to choke him.

Maintain grapple: 1d20 + 10 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 10 + 5 = 31

Nexus had been trained in fighting, once, a long time ago, before his chess playing days. He remembered the private instructor his parents had hired teaching a lesson about what to do when someone is choking you.

"When they choke you, it is only a waste of oxygen to try and break their hold. Your oxygen is now limited, like a short check from a ten hour work week, and you must spend it accordingly." He would say with his hands mock-choke around Nexus' throat.

Nexus remembered asking, "What do I do instead?"

The man breathed in deeply through his nose as an example, and said, "You make them let you go."

Well, alright- let's see if I'm a pawn, or a knight.

Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17

Nexus stabbed at the woman again and he felt her grip loosen for a moment as he pierced flesh, he thought she might let go.

But she tightened her grip again, and kneed him in the stomach.

Damage: 1d3 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

After some checking around, Marco realized that when he had pulled power away from the Barracks area entirely, the flow of gravity had followed.

It took him a little while to figure out that as long as an area had at least emergency power, the gravity controls could be manipulated individually.

Calista found that she must have been at some kind of minor computer protocol. Likely the ship had some kind of internal hierarchy of which monitors could access what.

She tried accessing the Security measures for a lock down and found a brief message:

Warning! Security lock down malfunctioning. Security has been notified! Please contact a technician for further assistance.

Then she checked on the cryo pod status.
Warning! Power loss on Deck 1. Deep cryo compromised! Emergency release measure has been activated.

Seeing a situation beginning to spiral wildly out of control, she checked the deck plan:
Deck 1 Deep Cryo
Deck 2 Barracks/Mess Hall
Deck 3 Security/Officers Barracks
Deck 4 Engineering/Helm
Cargo bay/Medical Labs

At least from this she knew that she was on the bottom level.

Finally, she tried communications and found there was both bad and good news.

First she found that:
Long range communications array is either disabled or damaged. Please contact nearest technician to verify.

On the good side of things:
Internal communications array operational. Sub station relay active.

She knew this meant one thing. Someone else was alive on the other end of the computer. It wasn't as good as face to face, but it was the next best thing. Live video feed.

Good news is you might have hit with that. She doesn't get her Dex because she is grappling, right?

Male Human Rogue/ 3

I am probably f&@&ed :)

Female Human Investigator-Sleuth 3

i know when you are being grappled you lose your dex bonus. but she is squeezing him right? then she would.

Human

Xander slipped the wrench back in to the toolkit, before pulling out the cutting torch. His brow furrowed as he stared down at his work, he kept a worried eye on the rent in the floor, as much as he could. When he was finished with the torch, he turned it off once again, gripped it with his knees to let it cool down, before pulling out a pair of needle nosed pliers, and beginning to strip some wires, to get unbroken connections.

He began to hum a tune under his breath, mimicking the sound of the drop by exhaling sharply through his lips. "I should have tried to stow my MP3 with me in the pod," he sighed.

Xander is humming an old tune his grandfather used to listen to when he was a boy. Ah, so calming!

Nexus continued his desperate stabbing at the woman, but she managed to grab his harm and hold him back from finishing his move.

Grapple: 1d20 + 10 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 10 + 5 = 23

She then forced him back into the room and used the momentum to kick his leg out from under him. They both fell into the water with a loud splash. She was on top though and Nexus's head was under the water. She was trying to drown him.

Nexus, give me a reflex save see if you managed to take a deep breath or not.

Clara began to blindly open the remaining gym lockers, hoping for something, anything that might let her see in the dark room.

So unfortunately Clara you are searching in pitch black darkness. You are moving at half speed and you have no light source at all. Due to the fact that the gym lockers are only half the regular size of normal lockers, the % chance that you will just miss things floating out is reduced somewhat but could still present a problem. There are 15 lockers remaining and a 30% chance you will just miss things entirely. The odds of finding a light source are slim. Let's see just how lucky you are.

Clara:

Give me an intelligence check, or if you are creative enough you can probably reduce the percentile chance of losing things entirely.
0-25% Nothing, locker is empty.
26-45% Some sort of clothing.
46-68% Some kind of sports equipment
69-87% Personal Item
88-97% Weapon.
98-100% A light source

The first percentile is to see whether or not you just miss the item entirely. The second percentile is to see whether you find what you need.
Locker 1: 2d100 ⇒ (23, 6) = 29
Locker 2: 2d100 ⇒ (48, 100) = 148
Locker 3: 2d100 ⇒ (89, 67) = 156
Locker 4: 2d100 ⇒ (89, 39) = 128
Locker 5: 2d100 ⇒ (95, 28) = 123
Locker 6: 2d100 ⇒ (52, 94) = 146
Locker 7: 2d100 ⇒ (85, 14) = 99
Locker 8: 2d100 ⇒ (91, 67) = 158
Locker 9: 2d100 ⇒ (18, 17) = 35
Locker 10: 2d100 ⇒ (23, 51) = 74
Locker 11: 2d100 ⇒ (33, 69) = 102
Locker 12: 2d100 ⇒ (65, 6) = 71
Locker 13: 2d100 ⇒ (50, 31) = 81
Locker 14: 2d100 ⇒ (75, 33) = 108
Locker 15: 2d100 ⇒ (96, 53) = 149

Or maybe you'll find a Mag-lite in the second locker and reduce miss chance altogether after that point. You also come across:
A pair of knee bracers, two pairs of 1d100 ⇒ 8 smelly gym socks, another pair of gym shorts, a 1d100 ⇒ 66 combat knife (effectively a short sword), some deodorant, a stopwatch, a photo with a young couple smiling, 2 more t-shirts, and another water bottle.

Then decided to try and communicate with the other person online with. "Hello."

well I already know what the lockers look like on the inside. I can open them a little bit instead of all the way and feel around the that way. I can put my body in front of the small amount I open it in case any thing flies out I might feel it. I do actually have an extra shirt I can try and make some sort of netting tool to avoid losing items. K. Engineering: 1d20 + 11 - 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 11 - 2 + (3) = 16

Calista you suspect you are on the bottom level. Cargo bay/Medical labs.

Just as Calista pulled up feed from the first level, 4 dark images appeared on screen. All of them were pitch black.

Then a different screen popped up in front of the live feed with a beeping noise and question.

Answer Call?
Yes. No.
