Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa
Agrippa asks Grumblejack a simple question Master Ogre, how many letters have you written in your entire brutal lifetime?
Gonna ad lib, but I'm guessing the answer is none.
Ah, so. Upon our untimely death at the hands of these Holy Crusaders, the first thing our Beloved Grumblejack would do it take pen in hand and craft elegant prose with which to summon aid to the Horn. Agrippa's voice ends dripping sarcasm and scorn
Agrippa turns to Eldred
Master Crofter, how easy would it be for your men to circulate the rumor that you met your untimely end at the hands of a few Paladins of All That Is Good?
Also, adlibbing but I'm guessing not all that difficult.
Ah, not so difficult then. Well, I'm glad we have Lord Grumblejack the Witty to craft letters for us then. Agrippa finishes, if Agrippa were the type to roll his eyes...they would be on the floor behind him cutting backflips.
ELDRED CROFTER
Id need to sling them some coin with a message, best delivered by your imp rather or one of the Red Pentacle rather than one of us slipping into town but sure, easy enough.
I think we should lure them up to the second level and take them there - less opportunity for them to escape.
Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa
It would be unwise to allow them into the Horn. Have we not already learned that there are secrets here even we do not fully understand. If Elise has uncovered some nugget that I have missed, however unlikely, then she could use it against us the wretched woman. We should slay them in the open, either in Farhold or in the Caer.
Lord Cedric Barca
Cedric will take a moment to talk to the Nessian Knot as he knows little of devils or angels. He ask of their capabilities and powers before stating the following.
" I am a fool, how did I over look this. You are right of course Agrippa. A note from Grumble would be out of character. The Cardinal has given us the tools we need. Tisaera, Melinoe go to Farhold. Use your circlets to walk among the people. See the baron and have him arrange the meeting with the seventh. You will carry the word of the Cardinal as his Nessian knot. With the destruction of the ninth the seventh is to step in and complete the ritual where we failed. Tisaera you stay with them. Be on the look out for this dark elf. You will see her true form. Stay close to the white witch and keep this celestial from interfering with our plans. Melinoe you teleport back and report to us their plan. Use the guise that you will keep the ritual going until they can make it here as you have destroyed what remained of the hero's before coming to them. We will set the ambush outside the horn. When we attack Tisaera can entangle the witch and fly her into the air. Keep here there and let her see what her trechery has done to her companions as she watches us destroy them. We will save the witch for last. I'm sure Johan has things he would like to do to her. If this is agreed upon we should get our rest for tomorrow we destroy the seventh."
With this Cedric leaves and gathers a few minions. He sends them out to gather dry wood. They spend a hour gathering enough for a large fire right outside the horn. He carves and digs the symbol of asmodeus into the ground. The wood is sacked onto the large symbol. He lays the armor of the griffon out at the base. His minions encircle the symbol and start to pray. Cedric released a blast of Hell Fire to light the wood ablaze. He steps into the fire and stands over the armor. He too sends his prayers to the Dark Prince. He then opens the veins in both wrist and allows his blood to flow out mixing and boiling in the fire it pours and flows onto the griffon armor. It's shine dims and blackens. Cedric is brought almost to the point of death. He collapses onto the armor. This is when Sideous steps forward and with divine magic closes the wounds. The minions drag him and the armor from the fire. His skin has released his former armor and his minions are able to pull it from his body. They then piece by piece put the griffon armor onto his body each piece sizzling and attaching itself to his scorched corrupt body. He screams in agony as each piece attaches. When it is done his eyes open filled with the hellish flame. He looks upon Sideous who has been keeping him alive through the process and nods. He stands and gives thanks to his loyal servants.
"Rest now. We have business tomorrow. You have done well all of you. As you sever the fire of Asomodeus it too protects you."
He too retires after this long ritual to rest for the day.
DM Aku
There’s one problem with Cedric’s plan:
He is assuming the devils have Iron circlets.
Well, they don’t.
Erinyes cannot disguise themselves and thus walk freely into the city.
Since it’s a minor detail and the disguise wouldn’t help that much either way (they’d still be outsiders) I’ll assume some things like: Going during the night, keeping out of view and things like that.
DM Aku
After deciding on an action plan, healing the wounds and cataloguing the heroes’ items, the knot prepares to deal with the Seventh.
Tisaera leaves for a few hours and then when she finally returns you hear the devil’s report.
”I’ve met the baron and the leader of the seventh.” the devil says in an indifferent voice ”The message was passed to her and it appears she’ll ride tomorrow.”
What's your plan for ambushing the Ninth?
Lord Cedric Barca
oh yep I assumed it was standard knot gear :)
Having spent the afternoon planning and fulfilling his binding ceremony Cedric is at rest when the devil returns. When his minions pass along the information he goes to meet with them and the others.
"That is good news. I believe it best for one of you two." He looks to the Nessian knot. "To go to the edge of the brier and escort them in. This shows a bit more trust and allows one of you to be close to take the witch. As Agrippa said we best not allow them in. A ambush set right out front would be best. This would allow the one of you that stays the ability to keep to the air and fire down upon them. I will ride my phantom steed and have mobility in the clearing. Eldred could be on the first level outside and have a good view down to fire upon them as well as Master Agrippa having clear view to wield his arcane might. Johan who is the most dangerous of the seventh in combat? You and I should attack that one without mercy and work together to bring them down one at a time. It should be fairly strait forward of an ambush. Eldred perhaps you should keep your arrow ready to disrupt the witches casting until one of the Nessian knot can take her into the air entangled in their rope."
Johan Hale
The big blond man - Dostan, I think his name was - looks like their heaviest hitter. They have their own archer too. And by the report in this diary their cleric is more skilled than I would have credited. We can use the treant's clearing again. It has lots of tree cover to stage in, and the treant's body itself would make a good cover position for Eldred and Agrippa.
DM Aku
Bickering and indecision lead the knot hastily preparations for the ambush. No trap was as the head for the ambush site. Maybe overconfidence, maybe just careless distractions.
Having no way to know when the Seventh plans in arriving, but judging by experience ( a day’s ride ), the knot send the Fury to wait at the forest border to accompany the Seventh, as well Agrippa send the accuser devil ordering him to follow the group following and teleport back once they are only a couple of minutes away.
The knot moves to the hangman clearing, hiding and waiting.
--
Minutes turns to hours and even then, no sign of the Seventh.
Intentions?
Johan Hale
The hanmna was set to guard the entrances to the horn and is thus pretty close. All the entrances are still guarded with followers armed with signal horns. There is no parctical way for the seventh to slip around
Johan waits patiently. Until night fall. Then his temper gets the better of him and he returns to the Horn angrily, refusing to be sucked into a game of cat and mouse with the Seventh.
Johan's pre-battle spells rely on about ten minutes advanced warning. If given that he casts:
Shield of Faith, Chastising Lash, see invisibility, then divine favour as they see the enemy.
Lord Cedric Barca
Cedric sees Johan getting upset.
"Relax a moment. They have to come to us. The horn is the prize here.." He then looks to the other Erinyes.
"Could you teleport and check on your companion. Or do you two have a way to communicate over distance? If you do go come right back so we may have a better idea of any treachery they former seventh knot may try."
Johan Hale
Johan allows himself to calmed, but he crosses his arms and asks, So how long do we wait then?
DM Aku
4d20 ⇒ (3, 13, 17, 1) = 34
Johan allows himself to be appeased by his fellow villain and starts questioning the man what should they do and how long they should wait.
Cedric orders the Fury away, to gather a report from her sister nearby.
The furry answers they have no way of communicating over distance and that she’ll need to search for the other one.
As soon she leaves, Eldred’s head snap towards one of the ends in the clearing and he declares ”There’s something wrong!”

Johan grabs the nearest tentacle. It looks like he is trying to choke the writhing thing with his beefy hands. You call me betrayer? ME?! he bellows at the priest even as an arrow lodges in his bicep. Only the true power of Asmodeus holds sway here!
As if to prove him right, the witch's black tentacles smoulder and burst into flames, dispelled by the hellfire coursing through the inquisitor's veins. Who here commands the Cardinals chosen? You saw his Furies answer our call with your own eyes, false priest. Or have you been so blinded by your white harlot?
Johan takes a step forward and begins to recite the Pact of Thorns. The first loyalty is to Asmodeus, He Who Rules Below. Johan pints to the burly warrior ahead of him and Posca the dwarf-lemure lets out a gurgly snarl and suicidally charges at the big blond man. The second loyalty is to the Cardinal, He Who Rules Here on Earth Johan snaps the arrow shaft from his bicep and draws his morningstar. The Third Loyalty is to each other.
