We can go ahead and retire the Recruitment Tab. I'll work on getting an introductory gameplay post up tomorrow evening and kick this thing off officially.
If you're having any issues slapping your character together, Deresh, just let me know and I can offer some advice. At 1st level there aren't a lot of meaningful choices. It's mostly just picking a Background that fits and a Race. The class build options are pretty straightforward from there. Classes typically don't start picking up their specialties until 2nd or 3rd level.

Your proficiency bonus applies to anything you are proficient in. That includes attacks, skills/tools, and saving throws. Bards are proficient in Dex and Cha saving throws.

What's the expectation of game pace?
It'll be a relaxed pace in general. At the very least, speaking for myself, I tend to have Thursdays off. I usually catch Critical Role on the same night, so it's easy for me to make longer-winded posts as I listen. I'll try to move things a little more quickly through combat scenes. 5E is a pretty fast-paced combat system compared to 3rd edition/PF, and won't require as much thought on my part (lore-building, character descriptions, plot threads, etc.)

I expect to be around more than I have been so far...apologies to be so thinly stretched at the beginning of a campaign.
I'll be posting in Gameplay this weekend.

I’m going to run a 5e Middle Earth Adventure if you are interested.
I’ll tailor the game to the player-heroes created.

I'm starting a week long business trip today returning Saturday. My posting will be irregular and opportunistic. Please bot me as necessary.
thanks

Hey gang, I'm afraid that I've overcommitted (especially since the slow-down at work that I anticipated never arrived) and that I've been slowing this game down.
I signed up because I liked the idea of playing with yall (especially to play with Brimley again) and because 5e seems very interesting...but I'm struggling to keep up with my games and this keeps ending up being especially challenging for me since it's my newest and I'm trying to maintain my momentum as best I can in the rest.
My apologies for overcommitting and now bowing out, but I think it may make sense for the Brandy Bear to become an NPC (or just a happy drunk).

Well, taking a night to mull it over, I'm going to go ahead and fold this game. Instead, I'll be shifting gears to a different homebrew I've been tinkering with more recently and doing an open recruitment run. Part of the goal with this game was emphasizing the communal worldbuilding, weaving the char creation together, etc. Rather than bring in some new faces that missed that stretch of development, I'll just go with where most of my creative juices are currently flowing. There are no hard feelings involved, though. Truth be told, this other homebrew is more appealing to me overall--it is certainly the more unique take on 5e.
To Jelani and Jubal, if you guys want to migrate over to the new game as I get it set up, you're guaranteed a spot. If you'd rather not, that's okay too. The new setting features almost entirely unique racial options, so directly porting over your current characters would require a lot of repurposing.

I somehow just saw this discussion...I thought the game just kinda died from no posting. I just went back to double check, and saw this. I guess I never dotted the discussion thread originally somehow.
It appears I've totally missed the train on the new game too. That's a shame, I was looking forward to digging into 5e more.
