Sun Xiao
Sun shrugs and begins flying towards it.
He pauses when he realizes how slow everyone is compared to him.
"This might be a lot faster if I just tied everyone to a rope."
Considering you guys travel at a max of 20 feet per round with your Run equivalent, and I can start Running for 240 feet a round instead.
Erd
So a couple of days at 20 ft. speed = 4 hours of Sun running?
Bili doesn't need new food!
Erd carefully rethinks direction and slows next to Sun, falling in little circles. "Tie me up, but hurry!" Her circle loses consistency, and she begins to fall back past the monk.
Erd
Hmm . . . actually they'd do the same, at a light load. Trouble is that if you put all of us on Bili, she goes up to a medium load, and if you put all of us on Sun, he goes down to 5 feet per round (Erd weighs nearly a ton).
If you're willing to cast air walk twice, Bili can drag Erd and Sun can drag Garren and you and we'll get there at the same time. But maybe it'd just be better to take the two days and save spells.
Auron Luckstride
Well... If we take only a day we'll arrive at the same time as Amon, maybe earlier. And I'd have time to recover the spells, so casting twice wouldn't be a problem.
Garren Emeraldeyes
1 person marked this as a favorite.
Garren spins haphazardly in the air before orienting himself after a few moments.
"Oh divines, I already hate this place." He says while attempting to keep his second breakfast down.
"What's the plan mates? Killing Amman sounds like it might net us a favor from some angels too! Been awhile since I've laid eyes on some celestial booty." Garren leaves the interpretation of his mention of booty vague.
Erd
"Amman will be killed," Erd says, finally slowing down. "That is the plan."
Sounds good, Lemmy.
Auron Luckstride
Air Walk is a bit too short duration for this trip regardless.
Well... It lasts slightly longer than 2h... During which we can Run at full speed without ever having to rest.
Rynjin
Which shortens the trip somewhat (...maybe. It's a bit iffy how you can run on air when you have no gravity to hold you to it), but won't get is the whole way.
Wind Walk would be bestest, but I doubt you have that prepared.

That's 29 miles in little more than 2 hours if we move 60ft every round.
Wind Walk would be bestest, but I doubt you have that prepared.
Wait... I have!
Erd
The best thing is that Amman can't spam dimension door here . . .
Erd
My napkin calculations say that takes like 1.6 hours, so if Amman hasn't made it yet we may have quite a lot of time for scoping stuff out.
Erd watches the fetus as the group approaches.
DM.
Thanks to Auron magic and sun flying natural fry speed you people approach the twisted petrified fetus way quciker than you could have done otherwise. (you still had plenty of time to chat among yourselves) (DO you used the wind walk spell only?)
As you aproach the twisted figure you start to see more details. There are buildings on its surface, a city. There is also more movement than expected. Multiples explosion start illuminating the view (both on the surface and in the empty space near it). The whole place is under attack.
Ships (like this) are figthing against other
(like this other)
The combat is more like a naval combat with ships side to side (instead of the more dynamic star wars-like space combat)
You do not have much time to contemplate the situation because a Gargantuan creature move fast toward you. The creature have a single black eye in the middle of its face (similar to that of a Cyclops), and a gaping maw filled with razor-sharp teeth. Its tongue is dark blue. Its armoured carapace is a reddish-brown colour, covered with a multitude of horn-like spikes. It has two muscular forearms, which end in huge pincer-like claws. However, The most striking feature is its serpentine lower body that seems to stretch into infinity.
The creature is far but very fast, it will reach you in two turns (currently at some 1000 ft away).
Erd
Creature link still isn't working for me :c Try uploading somewhere else?
"Bad! Auron make me real again!?"
I think Auron can dismiss the spell but otherwise we should get far enough away that we have five rounds to re-corporealize before it gets to us. Sun's fine without it but the rest of us could use SOME kind of mobility.
Auron Luckstride
I don't know... Withou my PC is too worksome to look up what my spells do... HL made me spoiled.
Auron Luckstride
Well... There's no reason to enter the fray. We know nothing about the situation, so... Considering they are ship, we certainly see them from quite the distance. So, unless anyone protests, I divert our course to a more peaceful landing zone
Auron Luckstride
You are forgetting the monster fklying toward you
Isn't it really big and the middle of a huge battle? I think we could see it (or at least just the battle where it is at) way before we're so close enough for any of the combatants to even notice a 4-men group.
Auron Luckstride
I swear I'm not trying to be a dick to the GM. I just don't think it's wise to enter a large scale battle without knowing anything about the conflict. BTW, if there is any skill check involved... Just assume I take 10. I'm trying to avoid rolls because brackets are annoying to type on my phone.
Rynjin
It's moving at 500 feet a round, at least. Let's call that a solid "It moves as fast as we do" and fast forward to combat start.
Really the only control we have over this is how far away from the main battlefield we are when we engage. I say we get a few more thousand feet away (i.e. out of sight), then knock this f##%er down like that thing from the Avengers that Hulk mulched.
Auron Luckstride
Auron Luckstride wrote:BTW, if there is any skill check involvedWhat do you want to do?
Nothing specific. All I said is that if whenever there is a skill checked involved, you can assume I take 10.
Erd
Well we've got 100 ft/round over it, maybe. Let's say we zip off, let it chase us, and revert back to corporeal form in time to whup it?
Erd points Bili "up" and the wind rises, gusting them off away from the monster. When they have a big enough lead, the two turn back into flesh and Erd straps herself into the saddle, drawing her sword and shield.
DM.
According to Sun's sheet he does not have ranks in KN (planes). It is weird that you can take 10 on kn skills, but it seems to be the rule.
Anyways, all of you taking ten menas you know that the battle is between the ghitianky and Illithids (AKA, mind flayers). The creature on the other hand is a very dangerous monster that have the property of emate a dead magic from his eye.
Auron Luckstride
I still think it's better to leave it alone, but if we're fighting the thing, then Auron casts quickened Divine Favor and full attacks.
Manyshot, Rapid Shot, Clustered Shots, yadda, yadda, yadda...
Arrow: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (8) + 21 = 29 Damage: 2d8 + 24 ⇒ (3, 4) + 24 = 31
Arrow: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (3) + 21 = 24 Damage: 1d8 + 12 ⇒ (5) + 12 = 17
Arrow: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (19) + 21 = 40 Damage: 1d8 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18
Crit Confirmation: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (8) + 21 = 29 Extra Damage: 2d8 + 24 ⇒ (3, 8) + 24 = 35
Arrow: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (4) + 16 = 20 Damage: 1d8 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19
Erd
Is that divine favor or blessing of fervor, Auron?
Also . . . I oughta get a real polearm for situations like this.
Erd absorbs Oghma's blessing, knowing that Bili will as well, and kicks her mount towards the beast. "Auron, this thing is okay to stand by?"
Auron Luckstride
"Well... It's huge and angry-looking, so I'd say... No?" says Auron "It's eye supposedly affects magic, so either stay away from it or destroy it."
That was Divine Favor, since I'm attacking from range.
Sun Xiao
He doesn't have the spell slot to Quicken a Blessing of Fervor at this level.
Assuming we're engaging in combat:
Sun charges into the fray, envisioning a pair of pressure points he can hit to disorient the creature, and searching for a weak spot.
Using a Swift to use Martial Maneuvers to get Dazing Fist and Improved Critical.
He then smashes the creature as hard as he can, clustering his shots on those nerves.
Pummeling Style 1 with Stunning Fist and Dazing Fist: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (20) + 22 = 42
Damage 1: 2d8 + 34 ⇒ (6, 2) + 34 = 42
Pummeling Style 2: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (19) + 22 = 41
Damage 2: 2d8 + 30 ⇒ (2, 4) + 30 = 36
Pummeling Style 3: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (19) + 17 = 36
Damage 3: 2d8 + 30 ⇒ (4, 5) + 30 = 39
Pummeling Style 4: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (6) + 17 = 23
Damage 4: 2d8 + 30 ⇒ (4, 2) + 30 = 36
Pummeling Style 5: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22
Damage 5: 2d8 + 30 ⇒ (6, 3) + 30 = 39
0_o
Confirm 1: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (10) + 22 = 32
Damage Crit 1?: 2d8 + 34 ⇒ (3, 7) + 34 = 44
Confirm 2: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (5) + 22 = 27
Damage Crit 2?: 2d8 + 30 ⇒ (1, 3) + 30 = 34
Confirm 3: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (1) + 17 = 18
And the creature needs to make 2 Fort saves, DC 18, to avoid being Stunned, or Dazed (or both!). Yeah...not the best DCs in the world. But still. Should have called a Knockout too, but didn't wanna put all my eggs in one basket. Shouldn't have worried lol.
Auron Luckstride
Didn't prepare. Being the only caster in the group, Auron favors buffs and utility spells. (Although Garren could retcon remember he has a scroll of the spell in his bag).
Erd
Sun, did you get the banner bonus in that charge?
Erd follows Sun, roaring at the beast and making a swipe for its eye with her starmetal longsword.
Using a challenge. Bili will also sacrifice maneuverability to get a 20 foot fly speed (40 ft/round). If the creature's gargantuan or less, and overrunning is even possible in the Astral Plane, and we have enough movement, we'll try to overrun it (and make rolls later). Otherwise this is just a vanilla Spring Attack, and we end 10' away from the beast.
1/3
Longsword (challenge): 1d20 + 23 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 23 + 3 = 44 Damage (as one, Spirited Charge, sandstorm, mounted mastery, challenge): 6d6 + 33 + 39 + 24 ⇒ (2, 1, 6, 5, 4, 4) + 33 + 39 + 24 = 118 +1 to-hit and +3 to damage if this thing is Huge or Large.
Erd's Round 1: Challenge (swift action) and spring attack using as one (full-round action).
Bili's Round 1: As one movement (full-round action).
We provoke no AOOs from this creature, Erd has +4 dodge vs. AOOs due to movement and -2 vs. anyone but the beast, and Bili's AC is as normal.
