So without any buffs, Rurik would have aged some. The wording is a little hard to parse, but it says saving avoids "aging +50% of the creature’s current age toward the next age category." That could be interpreted as take the character's age, divide it in two and add the result to the current age. A character who is 30 would age to 45. That would mean on the next fail, the person would age more: 45 + 45/2 = 68.
Or it could mean if you are in the middle age category, you'd age until you are half-way to the age where you become old age. But that would invoke Zeno's paradox and you'd never age to the next category, but it could mean if you were less than halfway between middle and old age, you'd age to the latter half of that range. Then to old age on the next fail, then to halfway to venerable, etc.
Either way, a few saves wouldn't kill the character, but it could reduce some of the physical abilities some. The bigger concern is failing the will save, since that pretty much ends the character unless one has access to high levels spells to remove the spell. In the meantime, the character would attempt to harm zirself or someone else on average a couple times a minute.
With the benefit of the age resistance spell or greater heroism (+4 bonus from either one), the 16 would have been a save. But then any roll 4 or less fails. A PC arcane caster might have age resistance but not greater heroism. Regular heroism provides a +2 moral bonus, so most parties would have at most a +6 bonus available.
Go ahead and make a total of four sets of saves, which is about the minimum number of rounds it would take to get down, find the key, and get back. Hasted and with a fly spell would be a double move down almost to the bottom, a move and a standard action to find the key, and a two turns to get back up.
I could make the rolls but I thought it might be more interesting if you do it.
Ingrit
Fort: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
Reflex: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
Fort: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
Reflex: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
Fort: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
Reflex: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21
Ingrit
Did you want Fort and Reflex saves, or did you mean Fort and Will?
Clebsch RoW
It was supposed to be Fort and Will. Using the d20 results and adding Ingrit's Will bonus of +5, The last save would have failed. But with a +4 bonus, all but the 2nd fort save would be successful.
I think it would take four rounds to complete the task, so one more for the road:
Fort: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
Will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Both would succeed with a +4 bonus.
I'll make three more rolls for Rurik:
Fort: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
Will: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
Fort: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Will: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
Fort: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Will: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27
So he also would have made all the will saves and missed one Fort save.
Crasius Leone
I will take a few rolls
Fort + Greater Heroism: 1d20 + 6 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 6 + 4 = 27
Will + Greater Heroism+1 vs evil Caster as a guess: 1d20 + 6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 6 + 4 + 1 = 19
Fort + Greater Heroism: 1d20 + 6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 4 = 13
Will + Greater Heroism+1 vs evil Caster as a guess: 1d20 + 6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 4 + 1 = 14
Fort + Greater Heroism: 1d20 + 6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 6 + 4 = 15
Will + Greater Heroism+1 vs evil Caster as a guess: 1d20 + 6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 6 + 4 + 1 = 19
Yep, that would have not been awesome.
Do you want the wish list for treasure items here or in a PM?
Clebsch RoW
Either is fine.
I totaled up all the treasure specified in the first three books, and just the items given a gp value averaged to a bit more than the 62000 given as standard wealth for level 10.
Since we skipped over some of the encounters to keep things moving, everyone probably has not gotten as much treasure as they would have if we had played through all the encounters.
Early in the next book is an opportunity to purchase some magic items, so you might leave yourself some cash for purchasing later. Items cost up to 5200 gp.
Clebsch RoW
Please start looking at the characters submitted and send me your votes for which 3 you would most like to see join the game via PM. I'll add my votes to the list and let everyone know after that.
Also let me know if you have any items you want. Alternatively, I can have Jadrenka gift you some valuable gems that can be converted to items when you get a chance. The book provides a method for purchasing magic items so even though the trail is going to go to distant planets and even earth, PCs will be able to increase their magic items.
Ingrit
Updated the Loot sheet (guess we'll need a new one after Dom leaves, I'll get to creating that and put a link to it)
Ingrit
Possible magic items of interest
Amulet of Mighty fists (Wapiti collar slot) +1
Arrowmaster’s Bracers
Hunter’s band
Bow of ashes
Clebsch RoW
Noted. If Dom is still checking the site, let us know if you have a preferred method of exiting. I'm thinking of having Hadda staying in the hut but with some condition that prevents her from joining the others on the adventure, just in case she can rejoin later.
Rurik Voralius
Stuff I'm thinking about for Rurik:
* Add Comfort to breastplate (this removes the last of the armor check penalty and has cosmetic effects)
* Putting some plusses on his existing shield, to improve his AC
* Ye olde headband of +Wis or +Wis/+Cha

I am taking a small family trip for Spring Break. We leave Sunday and return sometime on Tuesday. I am not sure how much free time I will have to post, so please feel free to bot me as needed.
Pemta "the Shadow" Broilbree
Pemta the Shadow is here. Perhaps saving Baba Yaga will give the color in her life she needs
Clebsch RoW
I've invited Pempta, Pyrrus, and Oriol to join. Each got at least two votes. I've notified the players and invited them to post here. I'll continue the Gameplay thread soon, shooting for a meet in the nearby centaur village.
I'm going to say that Seke stays with Jadrenka, since that's how she was introduced. Hadda and Dom will continue with the group, but will remain in the hut (I'll come up with a reason, something that prevents them from adventuring but keeps them available if their players want to rejoin later when there is a vacancy).

Hello everyone! Thanks for having me!
I'm just a bit confused about one point... both my characters got chosen?
I've originally entered Oriol, but then also submitted Pyrrhus because there were no casters. I mean, I believe I can play two characters if that was the intention here, but thought it was better to check.
Crasius Leone
Welcome to the game. I think we missed that those were both you. Of the two Pyrrhus is probably more needed.
Pyrrhus Durst
Yeah, I knew Pyrrhus was more needed, so I even stealth dotted with him already.
While I like Oriol as well, I'm not sure I could properly RP two characters in the same game.
HP: 9d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 6, 4, 6, 1, 1, 4, 1) = 31 > (4, 5, 6, 4, 6, 4, 4, 4, 4) = 41
Clebsch RoW
I overlooked that both Oriol and Pyrrhus were by the same player. Sorry. I'll review the fighter types and pick one, assuming you're playing Pyrrhus. If you would prefer Oriol, there is another arcane cast we can go with.
Pyrrhus Durst
I think I'll stick with Pyrrhus this time.
Clebsch RoW
Welcome. I'll invite the centaur as two of the players voted for him and I think he will make a good front line fighter.
Thorizmond Dvezda
Greetings. (My profile is still based on the normal centaur monster stats, I’ll adjust it down as discussed in recruitment now that I know I’m in.)
Clebsch RoW
2 people marked this as a favorite.
Welcome.
I'm going to be busy with other game posting today, but I'll get to the narration of moving on so the new PCs can get together.
Ingrit
Welcome
Crasius Leone
Welcome to the group.
Thorizmond Dvezda
I've modified stats to match the Centaur pc race, minus adjustments we discussed, GM, but I do have a question: the Charger archetype has a class feature that improves the use of hoof natural weapons:
Thundering Hooves (Ex): At 3rd level, a charger’s hoof attack deals an additional 1d6 points of damage and its critical threat range increases to 19–20. This effect doesn’t stack with any other effect that expands the critical threat range of a weapon. Whenever he performs a charge, the charger can make an additional hoof attack against his target with a –5 penalty on his attack roll. This ability replaces cavalier’s charge.
The PC race version of the centaur doesn't get a hoof attack. Should I add one? Do I just lose out on that feature?
Clebsch RoW
I don't see where the racial reductions I suggested change anything about natural attacks. So I'd say he still gets hoof attacks as in the standard centaur stats.
Thorizmond Dvezda
Ah, my mistake. I understood you to be starting from the Centaur PC race.
Clebsch RoW
Ah, my mistake. I understood you to be starting from the Centaur PC race.
I am not very familiar with the rules for using the non-standard races for PCs. I did not see a restriction on natural attacks, unless that's an implicit indication of only normal attacks with weapons. I just lowered the bonuses to strength and such and the natural AC to bring the points down to the mid-teens. Hoof attacks seem normal for a centaur, just like a human can punch with a fist as a natural attack.
Ingrit
That makes the most sense

I just happen to have a discussion on the rules board about natural attacks and unarmed strikes, so in truth it doesn't work this way.
Unless a creature has a natural attack stated, all its attacks with whatever body part they make would be considered an unarmed attack, which provokes AOO. Remember that an unarmed attack could be a punch, a kick, a head butt. A wolf has only bite as a natural attack, but it has small claws, so it could make an unarmed strike with its claws, a bull has only gore as a natural attack, but could make a kick or stomp as an unarmed strike (these are possibilities within the rules, but generally do not come into play because they are just bad in comparison to the creature's true natural attacks).
I do believe that the Charger archetype was designed to be used on top of a regular centaur and not with the rules for the centaur as a PC. On the other hand, the centaur as a PC should have the hoof natural attack for that cost a couple more RP.
I'd like to suggest the following stats for a centaur. Please, take it as just a suggestion as I do not want to intrude in something I'm not involved.
Large [7RP] This gives +2 size bonus to Strength and -2 size penalty to Dexterity, as well as the usual size penalties to AC, attack and Stealth and the bonus to CMB and CMD.
Normal Speed of 30ft. [0RP]
Standard Ability Scores [0RP] +2 to Constitution, +2 to Wisdom and -2 to Intelligence. Remember that the size modifiers from being large still adds to these!
Standard Language [0RP] Common and Sylvan. Additional languages for an Iobarian Centaur could be perhaps Elven, Giant, Gnome, Goblin, Hallit, Kelish, Skald
Natural Armor [2RP]+1 to natural armor
Quadruped [2RP] +4 racial bonus to CMD against trip, +10ft to movement speed and uses weapons as medium creatures
Natural Attack [1RP] gains 2 hooves secondary natural attacks that deal 1d6 points of damage
Total: 15RP
Most core races are around 10-11, but tieflings and aasimars are 15, so this is not beyond reasonable IMO.
Pemta "the Shadow" Broilbree
Don’t forget one of the core abilities of centaurs is they use Medium sized weapons despite being Large creatures. IMO if I were to allow centaur PCs I would use what you suggested.

This is covered with the Quadruped ability. Weird to be there, but it is lol.

Looks like my entire list should be good. My current WBL value is 20,383gp
Amulet of Might Fists +1 (collar for Wapiti) 4000gp
Hunter’s band 11,000
Bow of Ashes +1 adaptive flaming composite longbow 11,400
Arrowmaster’s Bracers 13,900
Cold Iron Horseshoes of Crushing blows 4,000 (+2OOO for Cold Iron) 6000
Total 46,300 bringing me to 66,683 - Bracers of Arcery 5,000 = 61,683.
(It'll make my existing Bracers of Archery available Crasius if you want them, I can't use both)
Crasius Leone
Bracer's of Archery are always nice. Are we supposed to come up with a purchase list to get us to 62K? I just sent some general items I would be interested in, but did not do a break down based on gp.
Ingrit
They're Bracers of Archery, Lesser so the +1 (5000gp value)
Clebsch RoW
The stats suggested by Pyrrhus look like a good fit. I wasn't clear on whether the suggested centaur uses weapons sized for a medium character or large. Since the torso is humanoid and not large in height, it would make sense to use medium.
Most of the items Ingrit listed would probably be best picked up from the centaur village, as they are hunter related items. I would assume she had enough valuables from Jadrenka that she bartered for the items in the village.
For items consider yourself with resources necessary to get the items you want. For RP purposes, you can say that the items were in Artrosa offered by Jadrenka or purchased from Vurnirn. Anything that would cost more than 15,000 would likely come from Jadrenka, as that is more than the magic item purchase limit of the town.
If you have a particular image in mind to represent your character on maps and in Paizo for those with the Paizo Chrome extension, let me know.
Here is a list of notable NPCs of Vurnirn, if you want to be creative in local interactions. Throrizmond might be in their company or might have asked them for help locating the group. The leaders would remember the group going through the village to Artrosa.
Notable NPCs
Clan Chief Aglaya Kurdst (Voaldyn clan) (NG female centaur fighter 8)
Clan Chief Illarion Dosa (Tsurvom clan) (N male centaur druid 9)
Chieftain Korak Kaag (Voaldyn clan) (LN male centaur barbarian 5)
Clan Chief Makar Kuzma (Kraask clan) (CG female centaur barbarian 7)
Prokhel Lavrenty (LN female centaur cleric of Abadar 8)
Vurnirn population 4,955 (4,942 centaur; 13 other)

Ok, I'm fully updated to the stats suggested by Pyrrhus and approved by the GM. Thanks, gents.
Edit: Question: didn't the PCs get some kind of boon when they agreed to serve Baba Yaga or something? I've never gotten past the first book in a RoW campaign, so I'm kind of half-remembering.
Ingrit
Getting everything fully adjusted, should have a post up later today.
Pemta "the Shadow" Broilbree
Apologies for saying the same thing you said Pyrrhus, that’s what I get for posting first thing in the morning half awake lol

Should we also be leveling to 10? I noticed the newcomers are all Level 10.

I totally get it. If you guys prefer, I can tone the accent down or even remove it entirely.
I try to make it consistent from post to post. As it is based on RL Arabic accent, here are the rules I'm applying:
1) Rolling "r": 'R's are strong and very pronounced. These are written by adding another r on each word where it appears. Ex: "Right" become "rright", "correct" becomes "corrrect".
2) There is no P sound: Because of its absence, the sound from "b" is used instead. Ex: "People" becomes "beoble", "peak" becomes "beak".
3) The sound from "Th" is also not used: Instead, "Z" and "S" are used depending on the sound. Ex: "The" becomes "ze", "those" becomes "zose". On the other hand, "think" becomes "sink", "three" becomes "sree".
4) Vowels are MUCH more pronounced and long: This is seen on the tonic syllable of each word and also includes words that end in consonants. Ex: "You" becomes "yoou", "mine" becomes "miine", as well as "but" becomes "bute", "not" becomes "note".
5) Verbs are not that important: Sometimes, if the verb isn't completely essential, it is ommited. Ex: "Ball is red" becomes "ball red".
Putting everything together, we have "The ball is red and pink" becomes "Zee baalle rreede aande biinke".
I hope it helps, lol, but again, if it is too much and if you feel it is hampering the game, I can tone it down or remove it.

Good to see these posts. I must warn all players, however, that my posts may come a little slowly for a while. The new players should know I tried to find someone to take over the GM duties a while back, but could not find anyone. I want the game to keep going, but I'm finding the time commitment of a PBP GM to be a bit burdensome.
I want to keep the game going, however, and will do my best to keep things moving. I'm also a bit overextended in terms of games I'm in as a player. I signed up for four of the Outpost VII series of PFS and SFS games. These will play out in a few weeks and I will limit new games to one or two. A number of other games where I'm a player have been going very slowly but I don't want to withdraw from them. The GM's of these games are like me not getting posts as quickly as they should for various reasons. Plus I am starting to explore the Pathfinder 2E system.
Regarding levels, all PCs should be 10th once we start the next book. Sorry if I forgot to emphasize this.
Regarding accents, I've found it good advice to keep the accent features to a minimum. It is usually enough to change a few sounds and let the reader imagine the rest. The reader should not have to pause to figure out what word is intended or to mentally sound out the phonetics to get the message. Perhaps cultivate a few characteristic expressions.
For an extreme (although generally fun) example: see Girl Genius whenever the Jagers are talking. It is a very exaggerated German accent. Example. I also have a project I want to develop as a GM of a Girl Genius campaign using the Savage Worlds system. I'm not actively pursuing this at the moment, but I'd like to at some point.
As I have been doing, I will cut out encounters that don't directly promote the central plot line. In PBP this keeps things moving. I'll try to make sure magic items and wealth that would be missing due to these deleted encounters will be provided as we go.
At any rate, carry on role playing the formation of the new team. Consider Dom and Hadda to be in the background for now. I'll move things from the village to the Dancing Hut once people have leveled up and are introduced and integrated as the new group of PCs.
Pyrrhus Durst
About the speed of the game, I'm going to be completely honest that I was already expecting that the pace would be slow, mostly because of the time it took for the recruitment to be completed.
I'm ok with a slow pace as long as we see it moving somewhere. As an example, we are meeting each other and I hope we can have some good RP here. That happening or not, the next GM post would need to move us somewhere else like the tavern or the beginning of the new book, even if there is no apparent consensus, because if when the GM has time to post he instead ask us what is the plan, we are just wasting a lot of time.
I'm also GMing one game (on discord, PBP) and I'm also not incredibly active, even if I'm trying to improve on this point, so I totally understand this conflict of wanting to keep the game going and many times be stressed and with little energy to actually do it.
That being said, despite me just joining, perhaps it would be wise to ask everyone how much busy they are and how much committed they are to finish this campaign. From my personal experience, we can have eager players and slow GM or slow players and eager GM, but we absolutely can't have slow players and slow GM, because, again, this would be just us pretending this is going anywhere.

Very well, I'll tone it down, no problem at all!
