I'd say we run past it. Me thinks it's a slow beast of what I've seen before. Pray it has sated itself on the scorpion.

Running past it is a viable option, especially if it doesn't have Combat Reflexes. But what do you want to do, fight it or run from it?


Does Makedonia see the creature? She doesn't really know what she's facing, aside of it being a creature with many mouths and eyes. In any case, she'd prefer staying and fighting.

It may just be up to the initiative order to see if we fight or fly. The first person or two that runs past or engages it probably will decide for the group.

I guess we'll stand by the marching order. Unfortunately the monster has heard you and opens several of its eyes as you draw near. Suddenly the air is filled by a maddening chatter as all its mouths start to babble. You need to make a Will save vs 13 or be confused for 1 round.

Also it spits some gob of horrible slime at Kaduk, who must make a Fort 18 or be blinded.

Then it's your turn, all of you.

Kwin hits himself with his axe for 5 points of damage, Valynie is desperately trying to make sense out of the babbling and failing, starting to babble herself, and Yurggen attacks Selina in a fit of rage.

It's not as bad as all that. The dwarf turned down the enlarge. You should be able to get by. Hopefully Yurggen won't make an attack of opportunity...DM Since Yurggen isn't really in control at the moment, I'm good with you making the attack rolls.

sorry you're right. I was thinking about another game...You can still move through a friendly square however, you just can't charge.

Yurggen normally aims for the kidneys instead of the head. Easier to reach. :-)

Actually, it's a Move action. Selina curses at all the neutral creatures down in this dungeon (spider, lion, and now this) and fights defensively, yelling "Yurggen, come to your senses, dwarf! I need to get through!"

Makedonia and Kaduk to go, then the monster.

Makedonia manages to continue to concentrate while madness all around her breaks loose. Not wanting to expose herself to a counterattack, she stays back and uses her slumber hex.

Without waiting for the rest, Kaduk rumbles in, looking for a quick end to the fight.

You are still blinded, so you need to roll for miss chance unless you want to change your action.

A few of the eyes start to blink at Makedonia's hex, and some of the mouths seem to be snoring but then the chatter of the rest of them wakes them up again.

Just waiting for confirmation from Kaduk before the monster acts.

In one fluid and disgusting motion, the abomination flows over Kaduk, mouths biting everywhere. He takes 10 points of damage and is grappled.

The monster keeps chattering, but you get new saves against the confusion effect. Hopefully you can act too.

Kwin hisses in pain as he slices himself. That brings him back to himself just in time to see Kaduk engulfed!

He'll launch a telekinetic fist at the creature.

Makedonia gets nervous as her hex is shrugged off by the monster. She raises her voice while chanting an arcane incantation, but it seems to shiver a bit.

Sleep (spell) on the abomination.

Selina saved the first round; does she need to save every round?If so: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 2 = 8...uh oh; If not....

Selina moves in, after Yurggen's attack, and stabs at the creature with her elven curve blade, yelling Let him go!

Attack:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
AC: 19
HP: 12/12

Kwin magically punches the creature, while Yurggen has trouble penetrating the monster's thick hide, as the doorway impedes his swing. Selina steps in and stabs the monster, but its semifluid state makes it resistant to cutting. Some noxious fluid is oozing from the wound, though.

Valynie tries to stab Kwin in the back, but is thwarted by the magical forcefield, while Makedonia puts the monster to sleep, stopping the maddening chatter, replacing it with a hissing snoring.

Kaduk needs to save again for this round, but if you saved once you can't be affected again.

I guess you can try to kill it now. Kaduk still to go and then you have a round where you all can act normally. Since it is immune to critical hits it may be difficult to Coup de Grace.

On the bright side, Kaduk is no longer blinded nor confused, but I doubt he dare move for fear of waking the monster.

But the rest of you can act now.

Kwin will whisper Clearly it is a predatory creature, what ever it is. Perhaps we should gather around it and strike as one, hoping to strike something vital in the process. Kaduk might even be able to get a strike at its underbelly. I can either use my axe, or stay by with my spell to try and disable it right after the attack. You all recall the spell I've used before, a dazzling cone of color that blinds and stuns most? I'm not sure how well it would work on this monstrosity, but it has plenty of eyes...


Kaduk brings himself up stealthily whilst readying an attack should the creature start to stir. Hearing Kwin's suggestion, he nods vigorously awaiting for the others to act.

Kwin will stand ready with a pinch of colored sand between his fingers.

He readies an action to cast Color Spray after the others have struck. He'll position himself to avoid the others in the area of attack, though I'm not sure if I can do that with Kaduk or not.

Base Damage: 2d4 + 6 ⇒ (4, 4) + 6 = 14


Makedonia moves closer to Kaduk and touches one of his wounds with the tips of her fingers. She then mutters something while smearing the blood across his forehead.

Cure hex on Kaduk, 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 heal.
