Happ says: "Please, find out what happened to Juliet and the other archeologists. We are going to leave the site tomorrow morning, and we have no intention of remaining any longer than we need to! With Juliet gone, the other archeologists defer to my leadership. Some of them are more eager to leave, while others would rather wait for Juliet, but none of us are willing to linger in a mostly abandoned camp."

Perception checks, if you wish. Totally optional.

No standard actions, please. We need to determine initiative order before any actions are taken. You may speak and share info, because talking is a free action.

Uthred recognizes one type of creature, Charau-ka. They look like enraged monkeys, but they walk upright. He recalls from the chronicles that they can enter a state of shrieking frenzy as a free action. This gives them the benefit of haste. He can see about 6 of them.

But, there are other things also moving about in the jungle foliage. Moving towards your position.

ROUND 1

Two monkey swarms act before the party can fully get their bearings. They are the red squares beneath your character portraits on the map. They may be difficult to see.

Swarm damage: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 6) = 9

Everyone takes 9 HP of damage and must make a fortitude save vs. distraction before taking a standard action.

The Charau-ka are still at the fringe of the jungle about 30' away. They have a climb speed; the wooden palisades are no impediment to their movement. However, the palisades give them cover from your ranged attacks.

Monkey swarms take half damage from weapons.
