Cireladwen |
Cireladwen wants to meddle in the people's lives and likewise watch over their children and grandbabies. Preferably while an awesome Desna-themed superhero.
It's a plus if she gets to squish said future baby cheeks.
Astrianna Sparacello |
The lectures and assumptions of leadership are what get Astrianna cross. She attacks his ideas because trying to be nice to him has done nothing but make him lecture more, and she wants to establish her ideas as dominant. As stated in-character, she feels he doesn't care what the group wants and simply assumes everyone is going to go along with what he wants/plans and does things without even consulting them. She is an avid supporter of democracy and free choice, and will attempt to protect the free will of herself and others.
As for what she wants- fame, money, adventure. She'll take any of the three, or ideally all three. The last tends to lead to the other two. She wants to be a hero, or least all the stories to make her out as one.

This campaign material is lack for ship stats they do not provide much detail for the ships. Here are some links where ships for sale were discussed and some were described:
Note there was alot of chatter about ships around these posts.
The Quell's Whore is Bethany Razor's ship. Her first mate is Korg, a minotaur. Korg and bethany are actually well known by Father Zalen you don't know that yet but if you bring up the Quell's Whore to him he'll chat about it.
You haven't really gone aboard the ships yet but only viewed them from the docks.
here are the ship stats provided for the Vintage:
Vintage
Large Ship
Hardness: 3
Hit Points: 80
AC: 10
Speed: 30 ft.
Special: Lists to port (–5 on all Profession (sailor) checks).
They only provide stats for a few ships and the ones you're looking at they do not - its frustrating. Although there is a description of those ships, here are the two Astri and Sorrin mention. Disregard the reference to cannon those will be converted to non-gunpowder.
This three-masted warship saw recent action in a campaign against the Pirate Confederacy far to the Razor’s east. Unable to afford repairs, her privateer captain – a man named Tomas Garell, himself badly wounded in the fighting – seeks to sell his ship and put the grim memories of sea battles behind him. The Thunderstrike is a fine warship, outfitted with four sixers (cannons firing six-pound balls), two on each side, and a long nine (a cannon firing a nine-pound ball) at her prow. If properly repaired, the Thunderstrike proves formidable against other warships, even if technically outclassed by Dragoon frigates. However, Thunderstrike lost a great deal of rigging in her last engagement, and this reduces her speed. Until someone repairs her damage, Thunderstrike’s helm answers awkwardly (–5 to Profession [sailor] checks).
This sleek darkwood freighter once belonged to the infamous smuggler Baron Desmond Shade. After his capture on the high seas through the joint efforts of Bonedeuce’s Pride and the Albatross – followed by Shade’s summary execution – the Dragoons now own the Baron of the Tide. Gregory Bonedeuce seeks to sell the ship. The Baron handles extremely well (+4 circumstance bonus on Profession [sailor] checks) and is faster than any other ship on the Razor save Quell’s Whore; however, the vessel lacks armament and lacks the endurance to withstand major attack.
There are a couple others inport.

Here are a couple more ship descriptions in Port:
Among the more infamous ships to sail the Razor in recent years, the Black Rider was a slaver, responsible for over three decades of misery, ferrying unfortunate captives to Carcass. Bethany Razor and Korg boarded the Black Rider last month, slaying the crew and liberating the
captives. Korg, himself an escaped slave, reveled in doling out agony to the slavers. Bethany and her crew steered the slave ship back to Port Shaw, and now Captain Razor is looking to offload the ship. Black Rider is very durable but also slow. Her helm was designed for the flea-bitten orcs who piloted her, and only someone of considerable strength can steer her.
The Black Rider mounts no cannon, but her former owners outfitted the ship with two large ballistae. Bethany’s asking price is not high, and she feels obligated to warn any prospective purchaser that, with the capture of the Black Rider being so recent, many captains remain unaware she changed hands. Until her capture, even the Dragoons held standing orders to fire on the vessel and board her on sight. Dragoon frigates returning from long range patrols, such as the Albatross, likely have not yet received news of the Rider’s capture. Trouble might ensue. On the other hand, the ship’s nefarious reputation may prove useful if the PCs plan to enter pirate waters. Other raiders most likely give the Black Rider a wide berth, and her fellow pirates certainly do not suspect a band of dogooders resides below her decks.
A large cog freighter, the Salvation once carried grain, flour and vegetables to far-off colonies. She is seaworthy and very sturdy. Never a ship to carry valuable cargoes, no one ever outfitted Salvation with cannons.

Bri just thinks that Sorrin is a bit quick to offer jobs to random people without first making sure that they will be capable of doing the job. Her morality also seems to be a a few degrees across the grid from his.
And Baldwin, that post reminds me I still need to look up that minotaur later and maybe that fighter as well that gave me his room number.....
Astrianna Sparacello |
The Baron just seems to be a sexy ship to me, and highly useful for adventurers.
In the end Sorrin is probably going to have his fleet regardless. We'll acquire more ships as time goes on, and if we eventually have to face the Kraken on the open sea buying and fixing up the Thunderstrike is an excellent idea.

it's funny there is know right or wrong selection and its does reflect on various characters personality traits.
The sleek Baron seems like Astri's personality.
Thunderstrike resembles Sorrin's personality.
I like the Black Rider.

By the way Torgue, are you keeping both the compound +2 str longbow and the masterwork longbow? If not did you want to sell the masterwork longbow? Just need to know for the selling spreadsheet.
baldwin the merciful |
yeah you could read a map with that skill, cartography profession would work also.
-------
I believe Astri has been tracking various plot, hooks, and rumors. This would be a good time to reassess and review what the group knows, how it knows information, relationship, and trying to a various courses of actions that you would like to follow-up on.
I would suggest that if you are going to be looking at boat or wanting to sell the Dragon's tail that you meet up with the wharfmaster and work on that line, so you have a better ship than the Vintage available or being retrofitted if need be.
------
Cireladwen - since you've worked the docs and repaired some ships I'm going to give you a bit of information soon that you can add to the mix.
-----
Because this so sandboxy it is sometime like herding cats. I'm glad that you've concluded most of one branch - Drug smugglers. You still have bit to tidy up if you want with Garreg.
-----
I know Astri wants to dine and possibly preform a the Kracken's Gullet does anyone else have anything they want to do or follow-up on at this stage?
----
You've met alot of ancillary NPC's is there any you want to have reoccur or more information about? I'm planning and I want to make sure if there is someone you liked, or enjoyed, or disliked let me know so I can work them inot the game.
Don't worry about Commander Boneduece he is a key figure.
Sorrin the Wayward |
Was hoping we'd do a couple of smaller runs with Dragon Tail and have enough money to buy a ship outright.
Selling for down payment leaves us without a ship. There could be land ventures.
Sorrin's immediate concern is Garreg.
Torque2 |
Torgue is following the group right now. He knows that sticking with them can lead to big payouts. Maybe get himself a less drafty shack.
For now, a long-over due soak at the bathhouse with a nice cold tankard of ale.

Indeed, after we take care of Garreg we'll need to reassess what we're doing. I'll look over our rumors and hooks and such and the party can have a discussion of the matter.
Astri would definitely like to go to the Kraken's Gullet and get her foot into the high society of Shaw. She'll try to convince the Commandant they should have a duet, her singing and him fiddling, but if not she will definitely be performing herself. This is probably when the dice will fail me after rolling all those 20's on perform checks.
Astri is all about having a bath, it's been a few days!
Concerning the ship, we don't have a firm consensus so let's put it to a vote. There are three matters, should we sell the dragon's tail, are we going to keep that money to put towards another ship, and if so what ship would we put the money towards?
I went through the post few posts and gathered some information, will update this as needed.
Do we sell the Dragon's Tail?
- Astrianna- Yes
- Sorrin- Not yet
- Torgue-
- Embrianna-
- Chell-
- Cireladwen-
Split money or put towards another ship?
- Astrianna- Money towards ship
- Sorrin-
- Torgue-
- Embrianna-
- Chell-
- Cireladwen-
Put money towards what ship?
- Astrianna- Baron of The Tides
- Sorrin- Thunderstrike
- Torgue-
- Embrianna- Black Rider? (Unless it's incompatible for the job)
- Chell- Baron of the Tides
- Cireladwen- Thunderstrike

Ship shopping! Woo! Sounds like a good idea.
Slightly busy will post in gameplay soon. Sorrin handled it mostly though.

- The feared pirate Captain Falken Drango, who you witnessed escape from the dragoons when some fool wielding a pike interfered, was definitely framed for the acts of murder his crew. You know Drango has stolen from the rich and given to those less fortunate, in fact he slipped you a few extra coins on occasion for work you've done on the docks with his ship. You don't believe he would have killed his crew...to far fetched.
- Tulitain councilman, Elder Nakuakaua, is a dragonsmoke addict like many others in the Port. A leader who sold his soul to the smoke.
- You know that there has been renewed interest in Garr Bloodbane's treasure but there are a lot of "Treasure Maps" for sale in the Port. You doubt anyone has a real one.
- You believe "Old Fish's Supplies", which is just off the docks, is a specialty shop where folks fence or buy items. You've heard the reference to "Specialty Hooks" for fishing rods by men coming off the ships. you haven't followed upon this.
- You've heard that the sewers can be quite adventurous and it use to be a den to a long dead necromancer named Tarath-Vreen.
- Dragoon Sergeant Darenar is a bully.
- You've heard Baron Hargrove has the best collection of maps in the Port.
- You've met a fighter Belok - a good fella, who helped you out when you've been down. He was gracious when he beat you in the ring twice you had a few mugs of ale afterword. He use to be a Wave Rider.
- The Champion, Jin, fights for kids or so you hear.
- Armory Fairbanks is the dirtiest fighter at the Skull.
- You heard there is a secret sewer passage into Fort Stormshield but you don't know why anyone would want to get inside, they are just nasty in there.
- You've always had a bit of fascination with Garr Blood's Gold tales. You've pick up a bit when people blab under the influence of the drink. You know during his defiance of Port Shaw, Garr Bloodbane frequently hid his ship Dark Lady amongst the shoals and reefs in Kai's Bay. What has always interested you was legend of Rum Cask of the Suffering Bard - you've heard it is a blessing from the drunk god or it could be curse, but either way alcohol is involved.

I don't have it, but all the reviews say it's great. I kind of want it now...
It's good but not that great. It has some good rules but lacks ship diagrams, maps, and base stats on ship variations. It provides rules to build and design ships but fails miserably in providing templates to run with. It also lacks detailed tables or lists of goods/equipments. It has some but less than it should given it's a book about ships and construction/equipping them.

Sorrin the Wayward |
Sorry for the long and early post! I'll be driving into NYC... taking kids to a AMNH (American Museum of Natural History). And, then back again.
Sorrin laid it all out. Melon-head, haha...
baldwin the merciful |
Wow those were some fantastic posts! Top-notch roleplay. The character interactions, tension, and tone are absolutely terrific. Each player has delved into their ethics, morals, and vices. I think you all have been true to you alignments.
- Bri's hormonal overdrive along with her need to keep moving.
- Torgue's simple love affair with Clarisse.
- Chell's complex relationship with her deity and her self-exploration of that faith.
- Astri's free-willing need to be the center of attention.
- Sorrin's altruistic attitude towards towards the common man, coupled with his own personal family demons.
And yes, Cireladwan's wise motherly instincts are appearing.
Chell Silves |
So what is the schedule? I saw something about breakfast, ship shopping and dinner at the Kraken's Gullet. I need time for scrolls, to talk to Zalen if to do nothing more than update him, and buy stuff. Can we get partial charge wands. Like 25 charges for half price.
Astrianna Sparacello |
Astri will be selling the loot in the morning, mid-morning we are taking tours of the various ships at the harbormaster. Dinner is at the Kraken's Gullet at 8. That's the only things Astri cares about.
I believe Sorrin is having breakfast with Captain Donovan at the Run Aground Tavern?

I don't interfere with how a party divides loot, but in my table top games when I'm a spell caster especially when playing a cleric, I always ask for a bit more gold to purchase community items. Wands of lesser restoration, wands of healing and so forth benefit the party, but I always thought it was unfair to put that expense completely on the spellcaster.
The spellcaster still needs to get armor, rings for buffing, cloaks, and weapons like other characters, so when they have to buff the party or act as the healbot, it seems a bit unfair to the caster. Just my unsolicited .02c
Astrianna Sparacello |
I agree the wand of lesser restoration should come out of the acquired loot before they're split up.
