We've hit a bit of a stop, waiting for Sia to reply and do something, but as its about a week since her last post, can we assume that Gorax came out with the potions and the old mans request to get fangberries, so we can continue on our way? Or am I being a bit impatient, it seems we've lost a little impetus as a group and need to build up momentum again.

Female Human Wizard (Enchantress) 1 / Oracle (Passion) 1

I'm sorry about vanishing like that. In the wake of what was an over-reaction on my part, I decided to try to take 48 hours to cool down. Especially since it had already taken me an extra day to get back from Indy and I was exhausted and sleeping ten hour days.

So of course, my video card decided to pick Thursday morning to blow a core and show bizarre and unrealistic symptoms of a virus infection. Took me until Friday night to sort that out, and then I had to go into work Saturday night. With all that plus RL game prep anyway, my weekend didn't really have time for posting. I'm catching up on the thread now.

Cool, no prob....glad you're back and ready to go.

Hopefully I can shoot a little energy back in, as long as people are still checking the board.

Female Elf Rogue (Swashbuckler) 2

Updated Kyrie's character sheet -- exchanged Trapfinding 1 for proficiency with the Elven Curve Blade and added the "May take the Combat Trick rogue talent twice" trait.

Female Elf Rogue (Swashbuckler) 2

I need a quick clarification for two things: One, are we close enough that Kyrie could close to melee and attack in this turn? Two, would she be able to flank one of the wolves between her and the mule?

Silver Crusade

Male Human(Shoanti) Fighter 2 HPs 13/13 AC 15/T12/FF13

Wanted to know if Gorax is up and ready to run and attack the wolves this turn, or is he still getting his shield and sword on?

Gorax wrote:

I'm fine with your actions for last round being, Stand with items, put shield on. I don't imagine you keeping your weapons that far away, you're in the wilderness infested with bandits. So charge away.

Male Half-Elf Inquisitor

So far as I know, Atapax, there's no cover penalty from allies for melee attacks. That's described in the ranged attacks section. It makes sense, too, if you think about it. Polearms in multi-rank formations were the most commonplace weapon/formation in warfare up until rifles, even lasting past the advent of cheap guns. Pikes would be used three or four ranks deep.

No argument on any of that. I wasn't thinking about cover. I was ruminating on the idea of being able to attack past someone as part of a charge. I totally agree with reaching past, but I see that as something that takes coordination and timing. While I see a charge as rather reckless, hence the -2 to AC.

In the end I did let you do it. I was just wondering out loud really. :)

Male Half-Elf Inquisitor

Ah, gotcha. It was really kind of irrelevant anyway; he missed badly even with the charge bonus, and was close enough to have just moved and attacked. A melee fighter he's not, but he doesn't have Precise Shot yet so he'd actually have had even worse results with his bow.

Granted. It was more of an academic question as I've never had someone try that before.

Way to show everyone how it's done, Estruven. :)

Gorax is duly impressed...nice swordsmanship..

...and if you want a perception check for Gorax doing lookout duty whilst the others mop up the wolves and stuff...then please roll...I forgot to do it on my post.

Just maintaining the dot on this thread. Can't wait till I get home and my computer pulls it up every time for me. :)

In the interests of XP and levelling, what levelling progression are we using for this game, fast, medium or slow????

As we've gone over the 1000 XP, by my cals..I got excited.

Female Elf Rogue (Swashbuckler) 2

I think we're on normal progression.

Male Half-Elf Inquisitor

Kingmaker (and all other Pathfinder APs for the Pathfinder RPG, as opposed to the 3.5 ones) assumes the medium/normal XP progression. We won't level until 2,000 xp.

Ok, I'm back home and starting to get settled. I'll try to keep the posts coming, but please be patient till the end of next week.

I'm gonna be away after Friday early morning (UK Time - GMT+1), returning Sunday evening, feel free to BOT Gorax during this time, so it doesn't slow the game.

Just wanting to note that I'm still here and still paying attention; it's just that right now this is Sia's play. Kyrie's staying where she is, ready to intercede the moment things look like turning violent, but otherwise not moving

Silver Crusade

Yep, Gorax doing pretty much the same....

OK, I'm not seeing the latest Greenbelt map in googledocs, last one I see is from Allanc which just has Oleg's hex uncovered.

Spoiler:

I think I'm deevor at live dot com in google docs.

I think Sia was keeping it somewhere else from the map I had first used. She'll likely post another link when she gets it updated.

Ata, I think we're agreed to go to a new hex, or finish the hex we're in....I think we need to start moving on....or the posts will start to die again.

Just wanted to share that for the month of October there were 59 posts, which is just under 2 posts per day. When we started, up until Yossain left, we were posting once or twice a day...what's happened? Are people playing other games instead?

If we all posted once per day, it would be 186 posts. So if each of us posted at the current rate, it would be a round every 3 days, but at the moment the rate of progress is even worse than that. Such that it is 8 days at least since Ata last posted, assuming he was waiting for more people to post, the last 8 days we've been treading water, essentially agreeing to follow where ever Sia wants to take us next...

What rates of posting do we want to aim for here? Can people post daily during the week, every other day? I just feel we will kill the adventure if we continue to have such a low rate of posting.

Just want to breath life into the game, cos it was such a good game earlier on, with a bunch of good players and a good DM.

Away at the weekend, Ata please BOT Gorax as required Saturday and Sunday.

Atapax:

As we near 2nd level, just thought I'd see if it was OK to take and APG fighter type, (that wasn't available when we first made our characters). I'm considering 'Mobile Fighter', it seems to suit Gorax's personality, ducking and diving in battle or fights, just like prize fighting.

Hoping all you US dudes have had a great Thanksgiving and can't move after eating all the turkey. :)

Movement is a bit difficult, but I'm managing. :) Thanks.

Man, I'd actually forgotten about this game; my dot on both this thread and the game thread had disappeared. My sincere apologies. I'll get a post up on the in-game thread ASAP.

Heres a list that we had earlier, given by atapax of the quests we have found...

I also just wanted to give a reminder of what "quests" you have yet.

-You've been asked by Oleg to retrieve Svetlana's wedding ring. Norbert told you that the bandits had it stolen from them by mites. He knows where their lair is, but none of the bandits wanted to go in and get the stolen stolen goods cause it wasn't worth the trouble.

-You've been asked by Svetlana to get moon radishes. Tyg and Perlivash told you about where to find them but that kobolds like to harvest them as well.

-Jhod has asked Cal to keep an eye out for an old temple to Erastil somewhere in the Narlmarches, guarded by a bear.

-Oleg told you about an old hermit that lives to the east. He's a good potion maker who has traded at the post from time to time.

We completed the radishes and met the old hermit..

we now also have:

-Fangberries to get for the hermit

-Find the trapper in Northern Narlmarches (I think)

Personally, I think we should search the northern Narlmarshes, might find the trapper or the temple?

We should ask if Oleg knows where the fangberries are?

If I got this wrong then please feel free to correct me.

Looks right to me.

Just wanted to share that for the month of November there were 33 posts, which is just over 1 posts per day, down nearly 30 posts from the previous month.

If we all posted once per day, it would be 186 posts. So if each of us posted at the current rate, it would be a round every 6 days.

We have lost Estruven as far as I can tell ...

It's up to Atapax, but we either need new blood to get us going again .. as I don't see anyone other than Kyrie and myself (Gorax) wanting to play. Atapax has to put in effort to DM a game, far more than just playing, so it's not fair on Ata, if the players just don't play.

I'm afraid I have to agree. I'm at the point right now where I'd really like to know who is really interested in continuing playing. I don't mind if people have to drop out. I completely understand that life happens. But I'd like to know for certain. I know that Gorax is committed, he's told me so multiple times. Kyrie also seems interested. This is a good time in game to bring someone in, so I don't plan on leaving Oleg's until I have at least 4 firm players who can post at least every other day.

I apologize if this comes off as harsh, and I know that some of the pauses have been me, but it isn't worth it to me to keep going if I don't have players to GM.

Female Elf Rogue (Swashbuckler) 2

I'm up for continuing, definitely. I'm fairly sure Sia is as well, although right now she's still got somewhat limited internet access due to vacation.

That's understood. Waiting for anything from Estruvan and Cal.

Male Human Shoanti Inquisitor 3

I really liked this campaign, but it seems like it has really been dragging. Not much progress, we're still just 1st level. I can play to keep it going, but probably more as a background character. I have a daughter coming into the world any day now, so I'll be a little more busy.

That's fine. This being the case, I can throw out an invite for one or two more. What I need from y'all is whether you'd rather have 1 or two more. We're loosing our archer and a tank, leaving us with a fighter, a wizard, and a rogue.

Silver Crusade

Male Human(Shoanti) Fighter 2 HPs 13/13 AC 15/T12/FF13

I'd like to wish Estruven all the best with a new daughter, hope all goes well. I don't wish to push you out, but I do think if we are going to push on, we need to have active party members. It's up to Atapax, whether to keep a spot to let Estruven back, once Estruven can be more committed to play.

We're also loosing the only healer type, if Cal doesn't return. Although I'm not sure if Cal is able to be that active, with internet connection issues, if what I read on a another game thread is correct.

I would vote to recruit 2 active posters and leave Cal to come and go as he can. As for types, I'd be happy with wilderness type/survival and tracking type class, ranger/druid or something. For a second class, the ability to heal and fight, say paladin, cleric or something.

Anyway, that's my two pennys worth, and I leave it for Atapax to make the final decisions.

I've been hoping to get a chance to play in a Kingmaker game, and you have not gone too far yet, so if you need a player I'd like to put my name up there.

BoggBear wrote:

You're on. Take a look at the beginning of this thread for chargen instructions. As was stated, we're down a healer type, but that doesn't mean you need to make one. Post here when you have a sheet and I'll look it over before introducing you in the IC board.

Female Elf Rogue (Swashbuckler) 2

Two people sounds good, yes.

Also, I think part of the slowdown was because all of us were respecting a strict posting order that didn't actually exist and for the most part wasn't needed.

I'd like to suggest that if we really need a hard rule for it the polite thing would be to wait a minimum of three to four hours and one response by someone who isn't you between posts; beyond that, if you have something to add, knock yourself out.

Right, I'll try to have a sheet done today or tomorrow at the latest.

As I've noted in the recruitment post, I'd totally be interested in a Kingmaker game. This would be my first time playing on these particular boards, and my first time PbP'ing Pathfinder, but I do have some past experience with PbP AND Pathfinder, just separately.

I've a couple of ideas for potential characters, but are there any particular roles you guys still want filled? I could probably think up something nice around most, though an emphasis on wilderness is probably the one that suits me the least, t'be honest.

Acctually, I've got a question or three for you Atapax.

Atapax:
In the campaign setting of Pathfinder they have a feat called Aldori Dueling mastery, and in the Kingmaker players book there is a trait for Sword scions. Together they make a nice combination.

I was considering an Eldritch knight aiming to achieve that feat, but since it is the campaign setting rather than the core book or the APG maybe you won't allow that? If so than that build is sort of out.

The other build is probably a bard, so either not a healer or a secondary healer, I don't want to be selfish, but I've played a lot of Clerics and don't really feel like one now.

Have there been any talk about what leadership roles people are aiming for? I don't want to step on anyones toes.
