You have died and the gods have decided for one reason or another to give you another chance. This chance is to start anew as you are with a special ability in a mystical world of monsters and adventure.

It is an Isekai game, a reference to a situation in which characters find themselves transported to an alternate dimension or universe.

Nevermind, thinks the paladin. "Well, guys", Joe chimes in. "I'm tired and hungry. I'm going back to the guild hall. Bollo, I imagine you are welcome back as well. Tomorrow, unless the bard has a job for us in the morning, we can do a proper walk around the town then."
The holy warrior walks back to the guild hall, and asks to bunk with Einar, his fellow magic weapon buddy. Before bed, Joe says his prayers to Heireoneous, Bahamut, Alethia, Cayden Cailean, and God, and gives Excalibur a prestidigitaton wipedown.

"Well, I'm really interested in learning about what you do as an alchemist and how you do it." At hearing the alchemist's exclamation, Artemis raises an eyebrow and turns towards his rifle, "Boomst- you mean my rifle?" Artemis grabs it and his rifle on the table between him, "Its more advanced than just a boomstick."

Frank yawns a bit tried from the journey today.

"Bolo is there any race the you have admired? My best guess would be elven. You would stay closer to your fey heritage but change enough to not be recognized. You also would get to live a long time if that's appealing. What skills do you have and do you wish to still be good at? I wouldn't worry much about the time, I'm sure this change is a potion or spell that is done on the spot. I doubt the process is all that involved for a town that specializes at it."

Sven rolls his eyes at Artemis, "Well I use alchemy of course."

Bollo considers Frank's suggestions, "Catfolk sounds fun. Honestly I would want to get as far from fey as possible. I am a rogue, and likely will still be good at it. I hope so Frank."

"Well lets go find out. Catfolk are not a bad choice. If you every are able to start up your own guild consider the name Thundercats." He smiles.

"Well let's check on the process and decide if we will have it done tonight or sleep on it."

Frank will approach any of the vendors to try and get some information. I'm assuming you just find the race you want and go to them.

"What does thunder have to do with cats? Also what does a storm have to do with wolves?" Bollo asks wondering on the interesting names that have been selected.

Sense Motive DC 11:
You can tell that Bollo's apprehension has lessened and is not trying to get away anymore.

I am going to assume the whole group is moving together.

Traveling around in the day time you find the streets and side streets packed. There are a lot of people in this town. Speaking with a few vendors you find out that you need to find one that is of the particular race you are looking for in order to change your race to theirs. Also most of the basic races only need a simple elixir of 'change race' with some hair or other part of the race you want to change into.

Without a gather information check (diplomacy check), it will take the whole day to find a catfolk vendor. From Katrina the catfolk vendor you find out that changing into a less populous race is harder for the crafter, she does not go into specifics but it takes longer and you need more exotic materials. With Bollo's voucher she quickly takes it and takes him into her one room apartment. She starts up a fire, puts a cloak on Bollo and scratches runes into the wooden floor boards with her claws to prepare for the changing of Bollo into a catfolk. It takes about an hour to fully prepare and another hour for him to be fully transformed.

Once done Bollo is exhausted and she offers for him to stay the night and she will begin the culture training tomorrow. Calmly she asks, "Did anyone else wish to become a catfolk?"

Things Joe is looking out for during his journey around New Faces.
* Is their a fountain in the center of town?
* Does the voucher allow for minor changes in the race you already are, i.e. hair growth, eye color, younger appearance, etc.
* Are there any shops/vendors who know what/sell a 'youthful draught of bodily restotution' is?

Joe holds up his hand. "Not for me, ma'am. But thank you."

With luck on his side, the group is able to find the catfolk vendor only after 2 or 3 hours... Travel time!

As the transformation begins he steps out not caring to see the transformation or hear the fey's whimpering or cries of pain. He offers to the others that leave as well, "If I am going to change my race it will be something epic, like a half dragon or something. I am not going through that kind of pain for a superficial change."

She follows enjoying observing for now rather than interacting. She is fascinated by the change and watches for the full time and even ask Bollo and Katrina questions, "How did it feel... to change? What did you feel? What went through your mind during the ritual? What is needed to do the ritual, could I learn it?" And many more.

When she leaves letting Bollo and Katrina get some rest Delman is gone, possibly with others. Any that are left she asks, "Shall we go look for a vendor for ourselves?"

She waves the diplomacy DC by taking a 10. Just time and luck to find what they want then...

It will take her two days to track down the vendors she is looking for... a Half celestial and a Fetchling vendor. As she looks she offers to look for others and tell her what you are looking for.

For meals she tracks down the group before eating. Then after the first night on hay she left a note in each of Frank's and Joe's separate rooms. "I will be spending my nights at the Temple of Death... the Temple of the Mistress. I will track you down for lunch and dinner if time permits. - Jellena"

Frank tries to reduce the time in searching or improve the odds on finding a vendor.

Joe:
The fountain can easily be found and many help you in the right direction if you ask. The main fountain is massive about 50 feet in diameter.

There are a few human vendors, they let you know you could get minor changes at any of the bigger shops. Most of the vendors just focus on a full racial change. You keep most of your facial features except from the basic change over. After the third or fourth race change the individual kinda looks deformed but with one change it is fine.

Sorry I need a reference to the post or what is the 'Youthful Draught'

1d100 ⇒ 82 half celestial 1d4 ⇒ 2 hours
1d100 ⇒ 82 half dragon 1d4 ⇒ 3 hours

Frank finds a half dragon and the half celestial vendors in only 5 hours. LOL

You may go back and check your rolls, you get a +5 for each modifier you would have in Luck. So a 12 in luck gives you +5, a 14 gives you +10, and so on... So some of those checks may still be fruitful.

Answering Jellena Bollo says in response to the following questions:
"How did it feel... to change?" - "It felt like a fresh wound being mended by magic, ichy and a bit painful. Though there is no pain now."
"What went through your mind during the ritual?" - "I was focusing on the future, a change for the best. A chance that I would not get without you and your group, thank you."

Katrina answers Jellena:
"What is needed to do the ritual, could I learn it?" - "The process of changing a race is tied to the magical power of this town. You could easily learn it but we vendors really only ask for what we need for the ritual and some money to live upon."

"Well I was able to find a half celestial and half dragon, so now the question. Which one. If dragon what color? Becoming an Angel seems pretty sweet. The dragon has raw power though and I could become immune to an energy type. What do you guys think?"

I'm leaning toward half dragon, funny enough that is the template I selected for your other game Wolf if I ever get around to finishing up the backstory :)

The half dragon vendor did tell you that you will need to bring lots of materials besides the voucher since it is much stronger than just the base races. Thus it will take some time likely a month to collect what is needed. I am not exactly sure yet, but my instincts tells me at least 2,000 gp plus some material for the kind of dragon you want to become.

Artemis is still talking to Sven, but I'll add to my post to avoid getting behind.

Artemis sighs slightly, "T-thats not what I meant," getting slightly flustered at the misunderstanding, "I know you do alchemy and such, but I'm wanting to know the intimacies and such behind alchemy." giving Sven a small smile, "Stuff that only alchemists would know and be able to teach."

Sven scratches his head and asks, "You are being very vague lad. Do you want me to teach you alchemy or make you something?"

---

Joe:
The Youthful Draught of Bodily Restoration is an elixir that can be made. The normal way would be using craft wondrous items, have the required spells and create the elixir. Since that is likely out of your scope you could buy it for a couple thousand gold. It is a specialty elixir made from the Mistress's priestesses, thus Jellena. You may be in debt for a while but if you really want it, likely that would be the route.

The elixir allows you to feel as if you were in your prime for a day, most likely increasing all physical ability scores.

The paladin continues to escort the group around the large city of New Faces. Mentally, Joe is considering his options. The Youthful Draught of Bodily Restoration sounds too good to be true, even in a fantasy world as Arcanium. Maybe consulting with a female wizard the holy warrior knows might offer some more information, and possibly an alternate way to receive the potion. As he travels with the group, Joe is keeping an eye out for blacksmiths (for sword polishing) and floral shops (not to visit Zenli empty-handed).
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Joe you know that this city is filled with all sorts of vendors of different wares, then most of the businesses in the houses are 'new face' workers. You do find a floral vendor on one of the busy corners.

--Edit--
Some vendors might have the polish you are looking for but they are likely priced higher. Looking for the blacksmith you get the fringes of town where there is more hard work like tanning, and other more smelling professions reside, and you find the black smith. He offers a simple polish worth a few copper but suggests if you want something better to go see the weapon smiths or silver smith over on the 12th street. He is on 14th street.

Over on 12th street you see that there are lots of smith's and other producing professions here that are a higher quality. The first weapon smith focuses in swords. Harvo Denloth greets you and points out some of his best work. One greatsword with a ruby in the base of the hilt, the blade literally glows though the metal is very dark, adamantine he says. A pair of short swords that seem to have longer shadows than they should, one silver and the other a dark metal, cold iron, each with an emerald in the base of the hilt and other emeralds in the hilt. Skulls are etched in the hilt with strange arcane letters as well. Harvo is a black middle aged balding man, a smile that seems to never leave his face and a low baritone voice that keeps telling of stories. With some suggestions and patience he listens to your request and offers several options. Silversheen which will make the blade silver for an hour, 250 gold; Goldspun is a thread that you wrap around the weapon and it is to be burnt and makes the weapon stronger which lasts until targeted by damage, 5 gold; or just nice polish with is a gold but will last for a month.

At dinner of the second day in New Faces Jellena brings up some suggestions. "First, you may each learn an orison. You may learn it from a sorceress or a cleric. If you are not partial to worshiping a god at the moment you should go see the sorceress, Joe can lead the way to her. Otherwise go see a cleric or priest of one of the faiths to get an orison and let them know you are an 'Outsider' here to help. Though if you want to come to the embrace of the Mistress the goddess of death, I can train you and provide you with the materials."

"Second, as many of us have found a race we would like to become and the cost is far higher than what we have now, what are we going to do about it?" She looks over at the halfling leader of the Tempest Wolves.

"Third, I have three rings, who still needs one? Yes Joe and Frank have one." I looked at Joe's and Frank's character sheets and there is no ring. Did you not take the ring? Did you throw them away?

I just forgot to write it down. Those were telepathy rings, right?

Joe puts on a smiley face. "Sure. No problem." Even though I was hoping for a more personal reacquaintance with Zenli.

Liberty's Edge

"I hear ya, I hear you..." He then sighs before scowling and rubbing his forehead. Looking much more nervous than before he lays it out before you as he joins your table, "Yes and yes. I have three jobs right now. One is being taken care of by the other half of the guild.
There are rats to be killed at 34 14th street and the surrounding area bring their tails as proof of the kills, they want at least 30 kills. If you bring the bodies too they will pay a copper for each, then you don't need to bring the tails.
The other quest is down in the sewers. There is mention of goblins. Go to 82 3rd street and use the password 'Tricksies' to get access to the dry part of the sewers from the Temple of Death. Investigate, rescue, and come back with numbers but don't get lost. Another party has been sent before you and they have been down there for a week now."

"If you want a harder quest then you will need to go to the adventurers guild. Tell them you are apart of the Tempest Wolves, show them the patch, and get ready for an induction ceremony." He hands out metal black patches made of the same design of the flag infront of the guild house, a relief of a wolf's head. "The ceremony reads your abilities and they provide a magical card with all your stats on it. Your rank, age, signifiers, and such. You should all be porcelain. I am silver ranked. We should go to the general market for supplies before heading down. Training can be done once the quest is accomplished." She says passionately ready to move as she relays her thoughts.

Artemis holds out his hand similar to Delman, "I'll take a ring as well." Listening to the Halfling leader present the three jobs, Artemis nods "I'm down to do the rescue operation, and no we didn't get a name for the town.

Sven answers Artemis with delight on his face, "Ah yes I could teach you alchemy and in return I would like to see and analyze your rifle. When we both have some free time we will begin your training."

Liberty's Edge

He pulls out a rolled up scroll and hands it to whoever reaches for it. "That is the quest, and the details."

The scroll also tells that there is a 100 gp reward for completing the mission. 25 gold reward for the safe return of the lost adventurers that went before you. Also a 2 silver reward for each goblin ear brought back.

Assuming you head out.

With Jellena's way with her words you quickly track down a general second hand store, cheap and worn equipment. For every item you buy roll d100, on a 100 make a highlight for that item. The old man tending the shop helps you find items quickly he sells the items to the group at half price. Though there is only a 50% chance that the item is in stock. Watch others posts as to if an item you are looking for is there. So two rolls then for each item you may want.

Taking the scroll from Gregarious she lets the group know what is on the scroll and heads out to find a second hand store.

Taking 10 for Diplomacy, 18. Upon entering the store she introduces herself to the man tending the shop she bows and politely says, "Greetings I am Jellena priestess of the Mistress. Can you help us find some items, I was looking for a backpack, bandolier, and belt pouch."

She looks for a backpack, a bandolier, and a belt pouch.

She thanks the old man for her help and kisses him lightly on the cheek as well after paying the gold and silver. With her new backpack slung over her shoulder and belt pouch secured to her robe she heads out waiting for the others.

Once everyone is outside she offers up five potions in her hands. "These were on the mayor in 'Ferry town'. I have finally identified them, also there is a cloak of resistance, everyone pick one: potions of cure light wounds, darkvision, invisibility, levitate, protection from arrows, resist energy, or the cloak of resistance. Einar you will get a split from the spoils that we get from this quest."

Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend. Catching up with work and posting. Sorry I too forgot to record the ring :)

When talking at the guild:

"Yes does the guild have resources? Say if I wanted to borrow gold. I would be using said gold to change to half dragon, you would have to look at this as an investment. I could earn more for the guild with the new powers. You could even put a percentage on the payment back. So if you lend me the two thousand gold I would pay the guild back twenty five hundred gold above and beyond my normal percentage. What do you say?"I'm also fine leaving to go take down some goblins and find the missing adventurers."

Jellena

"So we can go learn an orison from a priest or mage? How long will this take. I'm interested before we leave town but we should see to rescuing those other adventurers if they are even still alive."

General Store:

Frank firs approaches the man to sell the items of value from the mayors place. He has four items each worth at least 100gp.

"What you say old timer. What do you think these are worth?"

The old man thanks Joe and pulls a sack from behind the counter and gives it to him.

The man looks at the four items and offers Frank 175 gold for all four of them, most will need to be sold in items. Since you never chose what the items are, they are 100 gold each.

Then responding to Frank's question, "It takes about 8 hours to fully learn the orison, 16 hours to make sure you have it down pat. Two or three nights of work."

She should be able to see now... does everyone have a ring?!

---

With scroll in hand she leads the group to the temple of death. She goes around the temple to the graveyard and says, "Tricksies, where is the dry sewer access?" to the guard who likely opens the gate for them.

Liberty's Edge

"Well Frank, when your group comes back from this mission, we can talk about that proposal again. We only have 3,000 gold in the vault so you would need to discuss on which party member was changed first." He states with deliberate word usage.

The guard does open the gate which was unlocked at the mention of the password. He does respond simply, "Good luck, the passage is next to the temple over there, you will find some stairs under a closed grate. It is normally locked but we are waiting for the adventurers to come back."
---
Vell stays at the guild house to deliberate on which race he is going to change into unless someone convinces him to come along.
---
Finding the grate easily enough, it takes some muscles to open it. Down the stairs you quickly are in the dark as you descend the stairway. You can see a big barred portcullis to the left that closes the catacombs to the dry part of the sewers to your right.

The path to the right has two paths on either side with a carved out channel between them like most sewers. Down 50 feet it opens up for you to jump across and go straight, jump across to go left or go right. There is no liquid in the channels so you don't have to jump if you don't want to.

Artemis has one, but I don't think Einar has one.

You never said to pick items it was just a roll for number and value and they were worth at least 100gp :) for size and value I assume small jewelry and bobbles with gold and setting type things.
