Bartholimu crashes open the door. Behind it you find a pack of theatergoers, backed into a corner, frightened and pushing those at the front toward a cleric and her pack of zombies. "Kill the usurpers, my minions, for the glory of Zyphus and for the glory of Fel Bustrani!"
You identify the cleric's holy symbol as the one of Zyphus. Zyphus is an evil (but minor) god of accidental death and his followers tend to keep to themselves, guarding forgotten graveyards and abandoned barrows.
One of the cowering opera aficionados is none other than Emperor Stavian III’s consul for the fourth district of Oppara Prefecture, Magistros Sebastus Hustavan.

The rest of the theatergoers rush off into other parts of the opera house, seeking an exit.
You find a letter from Fel Bustrani to all of his followers in the cleric's belt pouch:
Loyalists of the Grim Harvestman, our time
has come!
My plan to recover the stone, blessed by
our beloved Harbinger of Unexpected Tragedy
Himself, has succeeded beyond my wildest
hopes. The fool Pathfinder I convinced to
journey here has fed the strength of our
Lord by encountering an unexpected tragedy
of his own. His hard work for Grim was
not in vain! Come to me at once, at the
appointed hour and place, and we shall lay
out a bounty before mighty Zyphus that He
won’t soon forget. When Pharasma, hated
cretin, lies slain in the bowels of hell and
our mighty harbinger rules the afterlife, He
will reward His faithful few with everlasting
life and power of unspeakable might! Come
to me, brothers and sisters, come to me!

The two doors in this room lead to storage rooms. These rooms were once the humble sleeping chambers for the priests of Aroden. They are now, for the most part, dusty rooms filled with props, costumes, and moldy backdrops.
Lilyth Cailean |
perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Reading the note, Lilyth grimaced. "This does not bode well for Wuthers, I am afraid. It looks like he was duped into finding this object he was looking for, then killed or sacrificed, or something. And it doesn't look as if this cultist cleric was working alone, either. This just keeps getting better and better."
Evarice Bue |
"Is everyone alright?" Evarice calls to the civilians. She briefly checks them for their wounds.
Lilyth notices note in the belt pouch, and Evarice takes a read.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
"Wuthers...Damn." Evarice shakes her head. "It looks like we need to find Fel, and secure the treasure he found."
Finally turning to the last man, Evarice offers a handshake. "My apologies sir, but it's dangerous here. We'll need to escort you from here as soon as possible. Something tells me it will get worse before it gets better."
Tajan |
"Eliza the venture captain from Absalom sent us to find Bogdan. I am sure we can escort you to safety sir
Adinomo |
Adinomo walks up to the man, grasps his hand and starts shaking it "Well met sir, I am Adinomo from Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. I am sure you know that that we people from the first world are not bound by such hierarchy?"
Bluff: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Now might not be the best time to play a practical joke
Evarice Bue |
Another stuffy noble. I should have known.
"Well met, sir. It's my duty to help the wounded and punish the guilty. We will be searching the other rooms to look for more survivors, but it may be best for you to leave and not take unnecessary risks. This is no place for the Emperor's Concilman."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
That outta shut him up.
Lilyth Cailean |
"Why do nobles always insist on ordering you to do what you were already doing in the first place? Yes, sir, killing zombies, sir!" Lilyth's snarky reply was followed by quick movement as she hurried to find the next set of survivors...or more directly, undead.
Snarl, quip, move, then open adjacent door when others are with her.
Evarice Bue |
"Uncle Kerivin was always like that. Claimed to have descended from angels, and that his blood gave authority." Evarice sneers. "Hated that."
Evarice helps Lilyth search the next room.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Caelben |
"...well I was going to do that anyway..so might as well "follow his order"..."
"I think he's right. Let's go check the other rooms for survivors. Every second we spend arguing here might cost someone his or her life"
Caelben will move to the next room with Lilyth
Tajan |
"Sir" says Tajan who then turns to follow Lilith and Caelben hoping not to offend but not wanting to get involved in politics either
GM Baerlie |
You follow your orders and Lilyth opens the next door. To your surprise there are no moving zombies in the room. On the marble floor lie the entwined bodies of multiple combatants. The hands of noble corpses grip daggers, makeshift clubs, and even a gem-encrusted rapier. Mixed in are the twice-dead bodies of zombies, their gray skin fetid and rotting.
In the back of the room is a double door. This is the actor's entrance, the plain marbled hallway is filled with simple granite pillars. The floor is split by a dirty white carpet, stained by a century’s worth of artistic foot traffic and blood.

You hear somebody approaching behind the door in the south wall.
Tajan |
perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

Evarice Bue |
"Gods..." Evarice shakes her head at the carnage. "I had hoped for a lousy play."
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Evarice readies her bow at the door as Tajan opens it.
GM Baerlie |
Behind the door you see three guys, alive. One of them wipes off his heavy pick. On the floor, in front of them, you see slain bodies gripping makeshift weapons and torn by the puncture wounds of a heavy pick.
"Ah, more of them. Let's get them!" one of the living men shouts and the others move into action.
