Sure, use the holy fusion seal on whatever you'd like! Astrianna will take the rune of the Eldritch Knight, which as Leila pointed out is actually a soldier class feature but has somehow become an item we've been carrying around since the drift rock? Anyway Astri will put it on her pistol until the GM says I can't do that.

Oh yeah, Vek, we also have a Mk1 upgrade laying around if you want it.

Astrianna is going to need 1 standard action to activate the spell gem and hold the charge of the touch attack, and then she needs a full round to charge the closest native. That, or Prospero moves up 1 move action, Astri moves with im and activates the spell gem, and then next round she does a move action and touch attack.

Either way this is going to take 2 rounds unless the GM says Astri can activate the spell gem as part of her charge, but I don't think that's how spell gems work.


I don't think I'd allow activating a gem as a part of a charge. I'm fine with assuming Prospero moved forward though. Coordination is hard over PBP but I'll go ahead with that unless Prospero has any objection. Post in a few hours.

Yeah, P-4 can move forward instead of delaying (and take total defense action as well). Without the grid, the movement isn't very tactical anyway.

Okay, reading up on spell gems NOW reveals that you need to be a spellcaster to use them.

Considering I didn't call this out... in THIS game.. that doesn't apply and Astrianna can cast the spell.This is just FYI for future Starfinder games with more competent GMs!

The real reason of course is that I want you guys to experience the spellcasting part of the game as this is science fantasy and so, having analyzed game balance, power levels etcetera etcetera, it is my considered opinion that allowing non casters to utilize spell gems will indubitably serve to enhance the play experience.


Okay, Leila and Vek have actions from Round Two which I think will go off when she starts getting attacked. I've taken all the aliens Round Three actions but we can retcon if Vek and Leila do something that would disrupt the gangup.

I did read up on them a long time ago (Leila got some from Mama) but I don't remember much tbh. Maybe a refresher course some time this week or the next ^^

Hi All,

I'm very sorry that I dropped off the face of the earth (and even moreso now that I realize my last post was about being sick - ugh). I've had a hell of a last couple of months.

Trials and travails:
I got knocked down and out and immediately had to leave to present at a conference while still convalescing. Then I got home and found out I had a proposal for a book chapter accepted (some good news), with a draft now due August 4th (got moved back and the chapter is almost there, some more good news). On the other hand, I also lost a very important employee at work, and have had to pick up the slack while we fill that position, which never goes quickly in academia. And to top everything off, we had our first offer on our house sale for our Texas home fall through, and a second offer find a problem with our roof that cost a lot of money and time, and built a lot of stress. We had to reconfigure our finances and take a loss on our home, which set my wife and I back significantly and caused discord in our relationship.

I kept intending to get back to Paizo, but things kept snowballing, and it became harder and harder to do so, and I felt worse and worse about ghosting, which in turn made it harder and harder to come back the more I felt worse about it. I've come to realize that people who ghost on things - commitments, jobs, whatever - may often feel like they're drowning in stress and responsibility. At least I did.

Thanks for letting me into this game, GM Stargin! I greatly enjoyed it and you're running a quick-paced fun ride. If you don't mind, I'd like to stay active and read along.

Thanks for the kind words all. Glad to hear Cueta is on ice and I'd be interested in getting back into this game, but I also know that you'd wanted to keep the group size at 4, GM. So I want to be respectful of that original plan.

I haven't caught up on the gameplay thread yet. So Cueta is on ice? Poor girl, she gets frozen a lot.


From my perspective a group of 5 is the best and most fun way to proceed.

What does everyone else think?

To catch you up, Cueta was hit by a bout of cyro sickness which sometimes happens if brought out of stasis prematurely, which definitely happened to Cueta. The solution was to stick her back in cyrosleep and when the diagnostic equipment detects her body is fully in stasis, start to bring her out of it in the correct manner. That can be at anytime.

I'm sure Leila and Prospero have a direct link to the Sunrise Maiden's systems and that will let them know that you're being brought back when you want to get back in.

Now would be a good time to do that as the group is just getting ready to head deep into the island and away from The Sunrise Maiden. Let me know what you think.

Is everyone else okay with a pause while Cueta gets back up to speed?


Also, don't feel pressured to rush back either Cueta. You can always jump in at a later time if that's better. She can always catch up with the group.

Nah, I built him to be able to pilot if needed. The front-line melee fighter definitely was the priority on the build. And you know the ship better. I'm just here for backup - no worries!


Vek's low Dex means in terms of modifier Cueta is definitely better. Vek is a competent pilot, not an Ace.

I got the CRB for 2e myself and going through it a few pages a day. It's real pretty and it seems like it has a bunch of good ideas. Anybody else have thoughts?

Con season is going to slow us all down a bit seems like.No problem with slower posting for the next week I think.
