Yeah it is really awful. I'm sorry that you feel at siege. Please take your time and spend it loving on your family. Things have to get better. Here in the states, it seems like folks are finally waking up to just how hateful and corrosive our discourse has become.


Thanks for the kind words all. A little bit of time has helped but your words of support have done even more.

It does seem like it's becoming more clear to people how deeply embedded and accepted bigotry has become in our society and that provides some hope that things might actually start to turn around.

I hate to get political for a bit here but if you guys could push back against people in your lives that make blanket statements about "Muslims" or "Islam" then that would be wonderful. Criticising specific Muslims or specific understandings of Islam on the other hand is not only perfectly okay but necessary. Blanket otherizations and demonization of us though is what makes tragedies like this far more likely to take place.

And that applies to any vulnerable group, not just the one that me and mine happen to be a part of.

Playing with you all is a bright spot in my life and brings me a heck of a lot of joy. I hope that I'll have the ability to keep doing so for a long time to come.

Absolutely. I've lost some family and friends these last few years, and imagine I will continue to do so. It is too important, and the repercussions too great, to be silent.

One of the reasons that I took this job in San Diego is because there is a strong social justice component to my work. It is going to allow me a way to hopefully affect some positive change through academic activism.

Speaking of, I've started work and things are calming down a little. I hope to be more present more often, and once the move is done and my family is settled, in the next couple of weeks, for things to resume as normal.

Astri has almost bit it at least twice. It was nearly three times with those ghouls!


Astrianna was the first to have 'died' to a crit in a night club all the way back. Angry Giant Vesk with a very large hammer sent her flying across a room!

I recall quite clearly wondering why Astrianna of all people was the one pounding on the door of the final boss demanding to be let in.

Now I just expect it.

So the beast was pretty slow and Leila is pretty fast. So I'm thinking we could try and kite it.

Hopefully it'll follow Leila - she can use a double move next turn to really get out of range. Then we can just shoot at it until it dies!

What's our stack of healing potions serums? Cueta might need a bit more (although she does have her healing magics as well).

One thing missing from Starfinder is true anti-tank weaponry. Looks like the mechanics assume we are fighting every enemy with more or the less the same weapons - be they rats, people, or house-sized monsters. In a more scifi game, we would've had some RPG's* for this kind of fight :)

*rocket propelled grenades, that is. Not roleplaying games :)
