What do you guys think of setting up a discord for this game? All the kids are doing that these days.

Cueta gets to fly, Leila gets to scan and Astri gets to yell. Prospero doesn't get to do that much until we actually get shot at properly so I'd say let him shoot : )

You guys are actually the orange ship. The enemy is green. The blue blobs are ice asteroids and the giant orange blobs are rock asteroids.

Let me know if you have any questions but taking evasive maneuvers is always a reasonable default Piloting option. There's a cheat sheet in the campaign description as well.

Sorry, was stupid busy the last two days. Catching up now. I actually had an RP scene planned for this kind of ship downtime but I'll have to do it later if at all.

Speaking of just found out that my employment situation is going to change in the new year! Basically for the last 8 (!) years I have been in a situation where I have been the only person from my company working on a client site. Which meant that I was basically working without a boss and as long as I got all my work done then there was nobody to chide me for goofing off on the web.

I've been away from the main office for so long that I have no idea if I could or even should be visiting this site when my actual boss and co-workers will be seeing what I'm doing so.. I don't know yet but my posting time might be curtailed severely in January! I'll definitely try and keep this game running (my two other games that I've been GMing seem to have died), but posting rate might be much slower! We shall see.


Hrm.. with Astri's encouragement. In fact the enemy will go first!

Wow! That's a pretty interesting working situation. Are you moving back to home base, or is someone coming to join you?

Re: combat. OK, if I understand correctly, our range on our turret is now 20 hexes. So I've going to evade, but stay in the same hex, which seems to be legal. Total piloting bonus is:

+14 (Cueta's mods, feat and connection don't stack)
+2 (Astri's yelling)
+1 (Good maneuverability)

DC is 17 (10 + 1.5 x tier 5) or 18 if the DC is rounded up

So Cueta can't fail the check unless a rolled 1 is an autofail. I'll roll just in case it is.

Oh yeah, about the brown force field, Cueta will take it!


Heading back to home base. It's a few minutes walk down the street so it's not a big change that way, but man is it a huge change considering how long I've been stuck out here. I used to be pretty bummed about being the only one not in the office but I kinda realized the advantages of not really having a supervisor. Still after a long time it's good to have a change and this is about as painless as one can be.

Alright Cueta, no more turning in place and Evading at the same time!

Also I think this process could use a little bit more streamlining:

Here's a possible house rule to make this go faster.

* Nobody is allowed to encourage initiative rolls as a Captain's action.. It's an option that requires a bit too much back and forth for PBP and has too big of an effect (who gets to move last is super important). To make it even the NPC captain's can't do it either

* Secondly it seems a little too powerful for a computer bonus to be to all piloting checks as we've been doing it. So starting now I'm going to make the Initiative check separate from the Piloting check. So the assumed bonuses would become:

I dropped Science as the DCs for that are so low now that you're basically rolling to not stumble (2, 3, or 4 on the roll).

Cueta Piloting check: 2d10 + 15 ⇒ (4, 7) + 15 = 26

Oohhh. not good, Cueta will have to move first. Though you know. It's better to get a roll like this now than for me to get it in game. Double 10s on an initiative check. Look at that.

Ah, I didn't realize that any time we don't move, it is a "turn in place" stunt. I assumed since the Maiden was facing the same direction that it wasn't a stunt. Apologies.

@Astrinna heh I have played Castle Crashers though I only found this track on youtube by searching for space pirates music!. I'm really enjoying your music suggestions too.Around the World is the overworld theme music I believe.

This combat is over. So far starship combat is just an amusing diversion in this AP. I think I'd have to really dig into the system to build more interesting combats. But it's fun enough I think? Does anyone disagree?

I mean we're in space with a spaceship, It's inevitable! I think it's fun and thematically appropriate.

So far with my limited experience, I like starship combat. I've read that it is repetitive, but I suspect it plays out a little more repetitive at the table than it does in PBP, as do most things, as you can think about describe actions a little better in PBP.

I think when the inevitable starship combat system comes out, we'll see more depth added as well, which will make it even better.

And regarding starship combat... I like it, and it really belongs in this genre. This one was fast, but it could get a bit tedious over pbp. On a live table, the turns go by pretty quick so it keeps the tension.

I think we've cut corners on the starship combat about as much as we can while keeping the CRB flow of combat intact. In the end you have to roll Initiative, Manuever, and Fire in order and each of those requires a pause.

I'll bot Prospero if need be in 5 hours or so just to keep things moving :).

If any of you are interested in a fast pace high-quality solo game, GM Mowque is looking for players.

I don't know what he has planned for the game, but PM him and say Galorit sent you if you're interested. (He also runs a game for Azih too!)


I can confirm that GM Mowque is an absolutely astounding GM and makes my own efforts pale in comparision. If you have the bandwidth for a game that is evocative, moves fast and is so well personalized to your character that you will want to spend a lot of time really delving into your own character then I highly recommend it!

Derp. Managed to do 1d20 instead of 2d10. I'll reroll here, but I think this hands-on approach is unlikely to work (because holy crap is it hard to do combat manouvers in starfinder! At least vs other PCs ...)
