I don't think it'll get dark enough for the elf not to see, so sneaking during nighttime probably doesn't work.

The AP does kind of assume that this will be a fight. But it isn't inevitable. I've thought of two ways you guys could try to get around it (with skill checks) and there might be more if you guys get creative!

I'll give you guys one more day to make plans and then Panelliar will get bored and attack.

I'm a bit curious about how the temple looks - is there any windows or similar points of potential entry visible on any side we have seen?

Hard to gauge how well sneaking in would work otherwise!

Otherwise I'm thinking trying some pretty word twisting shenanigans and using Ralkawi to make us fit into the category of "speaker for the star eater" and get past him that way.

If that works it works. If it doesn't it's one of the least-effort ways to try at least : )


It's a pretty tall ancient castle type building. There are windows but they are of the stained glass variety that don't open. I updated the map a little bit to make clearer how big the temple and where it sits on the plateau as the group would be able to gauge that by passing underneath it from the stairway up.

So there is clearly windows! And, as we know from computer class, those break easily :P

Now we would need to figure out what exactly he believes he is guarding. If the veil is just a small area then bypassing it can't be too hard right?

Plus it would be awesome to know if he includes himself in the category of things that can't pass. Given the wording he should - but he might need a honeyed tongue to remind him of that.


If you ask Panelliar he'll tell you the Veil is the border demarked by the series of pillars.

I'm going with the closest to the steps.

Ok. So I'll allow Acrobatics to give a BONUS to the Strength check needed to break Ancient glass.

Acrobatics DC 10 will be +1 and every 5 over that will be additional plus ones.

I'll set the Break DC of the Ancient glass to half that of a wooden door. So that's DC 8.

That would be almost rivial for anyone but, uh, Leila is rocking a total of -11 as she's Impaired and Overburdened and has a Strenght of 8.

Also I'm going to reroll the d20 as a 2d10.

So, are the people outside going to do anything in Rounds 1 or 2? or wait for Round 3 where they'll start climbing? Things are going to get very interesting for Liela starting Round 2.


It'll be a DC10 Athletics Check to go up the rope at half speed as a move action.

From the outside the window is 5 metrons up.

Strength check to keep from ripping the cable from the wall doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Let's say that each DC10 of a bond's strength check to remove equates to being able to handle the weight of one medium sized person or two small.

So the Engineers of the group would recognize that a cable and epoxy set up can accommodate two people at a time.

Was going for something along the lines of "ooops I crashed. And there's some crazy elf outside!!" and just hope that coupled with halflings natural cuteness would cause them to hesitate for the twenty seconds or so it take you guys to hop over and shoot them : )

Lol, why is every barrel firing simultaneously? I don't think the artist understood how a rotary barrel machine gun works.

The multiple barrels spin in a circle and alternate firing so the last fired barrel (the one lined up with the top center ONLY) has time to cool before another round is fired through it to prevent barrel deformation.

@Weird art - Let's blame it on the horrible recoil that thing no doubt would have when hand-held. Or something.

Also I think a good rule of thumb is to never be at the end where you can count muzzle flashes :P

(If we are nitpicking then the barrels doesn't seem to line up with the muzzles either - which could be an even bigger problem!)

Let's take out the big bad and then we can explore this place proper.

Cueta is pretty beat up but the rest of us are fine and we have pletny of RP, I think we can muscle through this.

I'm not going to be shy about lobbing my best grenades for the rest of these encounters, so you all may want to stay at ranged for the first round or two. Stickybombs for entangled condition, smoke for cover, shock for electrical damage. I don't think I'll use frags because we actually want the place intact.

The Remove Affliction gem should rid Leila of her annoying poison.

But if we're not in a hurry we could just rest a day or two ...

Now we know we're not in a hurry but will probably go and fight the boss right about now - feels a tiny bit cheesy to use that info to figure out if one retroactively used the gem or not.

I wish I had looked this up yesterday so we could have done it immediately, but in Starfinder Remove Affliction can be used to remove curses! We can remove Panelliar's curse and have him help us fight Tahomen!

... is what I would say if Tahomen didn't just show up, so now I feel like I'm metagaming :/ Reeallly wish I had known what that spell did yesterday.

So how about this- we burst out of the front door, use the remove affliction gem on Panelliar, and he can help us kick ass! (unless it fails, which then it will be really, really rough). Cueta or someone could even use the window and come around the back, flanking them.

I had another plan involving the detonator but this sounds way more effective. I mean Tahomen knows we're here, there's a freaking rope hanging out of a window... Also where is Ralkawi and why didn't she radio us?

Hmmm, I think I'd prefer Cueta get in Tahomen's face immediately, and maneuver around as the fight goes on. Or try and maneuver into a flank with Pan in the first round. Going out and around could eat a lot of rounds, and I have no doubt that this guy is going to be tough.

The spell has an "other harmful afflictions" line. So maybe it's work? Or we could just throw it at Tahomen - he's certainly both harmful and an affliction on this world :P
