Unless Dapper wants to rule otherwise, I would assume whichever you choose. The description for Altered Penumbra doesn't say I can't, but then its a martial maneuver that mimics a short range teleport, so I'm guessing the normal rules for bringing stuff along with the caster may not apply. However, tiny Anax is on my back, so Dapper might not care that much.

This whole game is really just me playing an elaborate game of musical chairs with myself.

Hey Dapper, during our next downtime, I would like to add Guided to Shimsil and possibly my dagger as well.

Stone skin absorbs the first ten damage per hit. Then DR is applied. It's going to be a couple rounds before Dris' attacks do significant damage.
I'll see what I can come up with to help you out.

I thought is how Stone Skin USED to work. Now it grants DR 10/Adamantine.
The Dapper GM |
Eheheheheheh. Good ol' off-hand guided.
There's a reason why I've been ignoring stoneskin against Drisquar's attacks... (he also managed to attack the only three Aboleths who had it active)
Also it's my birthday today and I'm visiting family, might slow down a bit, we'll see how high-energy they are.
Drisquar |
Hahaha, attacks all three Aboleths who had it active.
Still managed to murder them all.
Anaxian |
I miss the voice of that snarky sword.
Dris, have you given any thought to making a separate alias for Shim? You're missing out on using the sword's own action economy too. Intelligent items can take their own actions every round. They tend to be pretty limited, but having another set of actions to make knowledge and perception checks with, or demoralize enemies is pretty cool.
Drisquar |
I probably will, once I stat him out fully. I'm unsure if he has skills atm.
Drisquar |
Aye, I will try to post tonight, after my family stuff
The Dapper GM |
Alright—20 rounds (my initial estimate for this fight) isn't far off, but it feels a little long, and I've definitely lost some steam. Still, things will be over soon, and I'm handling the remaining trash enemies in an increasingly narrative fashion.
I'm having trouble figuring out exactly how much experience this fight is worth; you guys had a lot of advantages, both ones I provided and ones you figured out, and depending how much I compensate for that this single battle is worth 2-4 levels each. (Maybe I'll split the difference and say 3, if that's a good number for people?)
The rest of this fight really just determines how much loot you're coming away with. Since you've already got pretty arbitrary personal wealth (which I've been capping as a factor of WBL), this will take the form of uncraftables: kingdom-building tribute, and hard-to-find material components like 25k diamonds.
* * *
Of course, the Mayor is still fighting as though he can win this one, because of reasons.
Large aboleth cities tend to maintain communication through telepathic networks maintained by omnipath othagu. Since this particular city's omnipath has just offered to surrender to the party, it's been strategically blocking communications, and there's too much blood/bone present in the water for anyone fighting Drisquar to actually see what's going on in the rest of the city, 500' away. Plus, normal Veiled Master telepathy caps at 300' of range, soooo...

Story-wise, I think this battle is worth 2 at absolute most. I'd be more inclined to give it one, but I don't want to be eaten when we get to dragons. :P
I've long since stopped using experience in my campaigns. You level up when the plot demands.
Drisquar |
I would be OK with two or three levels.
Are we not getting any personal wealth whatsoever? I would really like to be able to add Guided to Shim, which will give an extra +2 to hit and damage(which is obviously multiplied on a crit, something Dris is kinda built around).
As for how long this fight has taken, I think its a combo of bad rolls, several party members having difficulty contributing to the fight(for a variety of reasons) and having an odd mix of classes/roles than is standard.
Drisquar |
With one level, I will take my 5th in Stalker, gaining 1d6 to my deadly strike and more maneuver stuff.
If we get more than one level, I will still take one level of Stalker, and then start taking levels in the Umbral Blade PrC.

on the subject of leveling up, and my relative boredom with taking over Sir John...
I think I may have found something the group needs? We seem to be heavy on two things, melee and god-wizards. We only have one ranged striker, so I was thinking of making another.
Something along the lines of a
...or is that too outlandish for this campaign?
The Dapper GM |
It's pretty ridiculous, but this campaign's hit enough silliness that it doesn't matter a ton. Would need a bit of backstory explanation as to why you've got guns.
Basically, there are three canonical sources of guns on Golarion:
-The steampunk nation of Alkenstar
-The crashed alien technology, frequently scavenged, of Numeria
-or
Any one of these could be rather amusing. I'm not generally a fan of the Augmented template, though something like a templated Numerian android could make sense, or some sort of feytouched daughter of the Baba Yaga or disciple of Rasputin, I dunno, you've probably got your own ideas.
Also, I might not be able to post here for a week or so until I get my computer fixed—I can pull off short posts at work or on my phone, but long GM posts are a bit less feasible.

Hmm, augmented seemed cool for the idea of integrated guns. But the more i look at it the idea seems kinda weak, mechanically. It takes longer to reload than can be gained elsewhere.
Android, unless i am conflating it with something else, cannot be violent...?
What are you doing, Dave?

Androids can totally fight. Some are built with the express purpose of murderising.

This game is pretty weird, but technology seems like a strange fit without the GM introducing it into the game first.
I could see us exploring an alien ship, finding and reprogramming a cyborg or something, but having a character like that just decide to join us is a bit of a stretch.
I'm sure we could find a way to make it make sense in the game. Could one of the other Advisors be holed up somewhere technological?
The Dapper GM |
A robot character might not make a ton of sense, but just someone with guns could easily be a mercenary of some sort. An assassin hired by Sir John while he sits back at your base and builds, for instance, would not be too ridiculous, and you could rescue an extremely rusty robot from the aboleths or something like that.
Would also totally okay with allying with one of the Baba Yaga's daughters who's into stolen Russian technology or something wackier, but I dunno, I'll let the character involved figure it out.
The Dapper GM |
Veiled master lich agent of the grave. CL 16, base will +18 before debuffs. Can't heal his eyes but might not need them to see. Feel free to roll for him if you want, but note that many of those spells expire quickly.
(And you've all hilariously missed any of the easy solutions)
